| | Quick Question (itouch) by LikeASet, January 03
Yo...
The itunes program doesn't allow the dragging of wmv files onto the itouch. I was wondering if there was anyway around this so I can put poker/coaching vids onto my itouch and watch them in at random places. Has anyone done this? or is there just no way to get an itouch to play downloaded poker vids off the internets?????

fuck goals. im just gonna have some fun learning to play better poker and not think about making money. all these $$$$ goals are what causes all the misery in the grind. i see myself going to vegas again this year, making decent money and having an awesome year regardless, coz 2009 was filled with too much "goooools" and sucked pretty bad. i downloaded a pic of a check and edited it in paint(lol) puttting some ridiculous amount thinking im def cashing it out by the time the check is good. i wont fucking worry about the games and shit anymore, just not worth the stress. gl to everyone

hi there, not so new to LP, mostly lurking, but figure I'd make my blog here rather than make another crappy one that I'd forget about in a few weeks since at least I remember to read here every day. :-) guess i'll keep it brief
January Goals:
[] Don't fuck up exams
[] 20k hands if I'm gonna play 6max, 50k if FR
[] Win money
[] Play thinking poker
[] Stop playing SNGs, I'm soooo -EV in them it's not even funny but I insist on trying again and again
Year Goals:
[] Get Supernova. I'm a fucking idiot as I had it so easily last year at 90k VPPs since summer and let it slip
[] Comfortably win at 100NL by end of the year
gl LP~

| | Over thinking myself by jwthoma, January 03
So over the last few months I have been playing basically break even poker at $50NL. I have been winning at $25 nl. Why is this???
Why is it I basically destroy $25 and break even on $50? The players are NOT better. I am playing worse.
I have been working to hard and too long to let this happen. It has nothing to do with LAG or TAG or any other style of play. It all has to do with playing smart poker.
Since we are starting a new year and I am wiping the slate clean and hammering back down. Time to play smart poker….
Here is some mindless ramblings:
Call less, bet more….
Betting can eliminate the need to have a playable hand.
Location, location, location
If I am playing well, I drive people away from my relentless pressure.
Table selection, the other night I found myself 6 tabling and 4 of them had an Average VPIP of 18 or less… ideal for my style is 25 to 30.
Ante tables are fun… but draw the craziest players.
If you are better then the others at the tables, why put yourself in marginal situations.
Pay attention to the rest of the full ring table, when playing a guy with a VPIP of 40+… more then likely 5 to 6 other good players… a higher average then an average table.
Have a reason to call, if not raise/bet or fold. The opposite of most people.
Opening limping invites problems.
Calling with a big hand in a multi-limped pot invites problems.
Raising a multi-limped pot with a marginal hand invites problems.
Calling a multi-limped pot (can) cause problems, or (can) get away from the hand cheaply.
I just need to play with my head on straight and ALWAYSN remember… We make out money from Value Betting not Bluff Catching!

I'm going to try to be very realistic after running really bad and nearly busting my bankroll, so here's what I'm hoping to accomplish in January.
[ ] Make $40 playing SNGs exclusively
[ ] More volume - 2 hours a day minimum*
[ ] Place in the money in a large tournament (1000+)
[ ] Win 1 or more live SNGs at the local charity games (130 payout, 30 buyin)
I'm really trying to get back to putting the volume I did during my first semester (roughly 9k hands a month at 2/5, 4 table max) because recently work and social activities have been slowing me down. I find myself constantly reminding myself that I should be playing and trying to learn more about the game, especially when I'm out doing insignificant things. I feel I can be a very strong player based mostly on my ability to read hands and outplay people postflop, at least at my current level. By June I would like to be playing NL50 but I know I have a long, hard road of grinding and analyzing my play. I may get some sort of screen capture program so I can make a video of how I play so people who are better than me can give me some advice, but I'm not sure on that one.
*This is hard to say but I think I can make at least 2 hours a day. I have really no excuse to not be able to put in that amount of time, so we'll see where it goes.
GL at the tables LP, here's hoping 2010 brings you all good fortune and no villains catching 2 outers on the river! :D

[ ] 150k hands in cash games, any limit
[ ] NL50 reg
[ ] raise 3-bet percentage, and improve play in 3-bet pots
Happy New Year LP! Here's my results for the last few days since starting cash games again after nearly a 4 month break from them. This is my first time playing 6 max, so I feel like I have millions of leaks, so if anybody could look at my stats and help me out, that'd be great. Also, I think I should be moving to NL50 soon, but I guess I want to get in a proper amount of hands first before moving up.

| | first real day of 5 tabling 25NL by moonk379, January 03
i got a few hours in playing 5 tables 25NL and i did extremely well. im usually a sng player but lately i've been gettin crushed by variance so i thought i try cash and im loving it. u get to play wayy more hands and money rarely gets all in pre which i like. and on top of that to get ready for cash game, i read a awesome poker book yesterday which i feel like it made me like 100 times better because i got new insights on the game itself and how to read and react to certain spots. well heres the graph of first half of todays session. hope to do this everyday and move up to 200NL soon xD and can someone tell me the details of these graphs? i just started using pt3 today and i didn't even know about the HUD thing until it just randomly popped on my poker tables =/ and can someone tell me the best way to customize the HUD settings and what the stats are about? thanks ^^

| | 4 tabling 50NL, first vid by transparentb, January 03
Alright so here's my first video that I said would be coming around now. It's about an hour long @160mb.
* note there's a hand where I back-raise AQ that's totally butchered; I thought the squeezer was a short stack for some odd reason and was trying to re-iso. I also probably use some incorrect terminology and do some dumb stuff at one point or another but I'll improve as I make more.
link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PCKFI4N0 - if it gives an error that it doesn't exist try refreshing.
Really appreciate all the advice/questions/etc.

| | Bump + 2010 Goals etc. by PanoRaMa, January 03
Wrote an article on tilt control which you can find below, semi bump
Besides that my goals for 2010 are:
- $200k (I plan on doing well in WSOP this year obv)
- At least 600k hands (though to achieve $200k in purely online results it'd prob take a mil)
- 1knl reg by end of year, if I'm still focusing only on NL6max
I've also began compiling Expense Reports for each month, separated by things I needed and by things I wanted at the time, hopefully it'll cut down on my spending. I might also transfer my play to Stars, not sure yet. I'm for sure pretty sick of FTP.
Some hands I've uploaded lately:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/778018 - Seemingly kind of random, but every play here was a result of just knowing my opponent and his tendencies, the gist of it mostly was that he basically never has a made hand especially an overpair here, so I was flipping against an FD at worst, which is fine considering the FE I exercise prior to him jamming
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/781390 - Meh just a big pot cooler in my favor
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/783320 - From my -7.5k day, fistpump into a snap frown
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/783329 - Against same guy. Bleh, what can you do..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/783332 - Against same guy, flop CiB in 3b pot
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/785088 - Get it in 60% 3way in a 2k pot at 2/4 ..
About it for now, GL everyone and your 2010 goals, it's gonna be a fun year

| | Calling 3bets DB check by LemOn[5thF], January 03
BOOOM. Database check.
I don't expect anyone to read this al, as its super boring. Please just scroll down and answer the couple questions I have prepared for you
Call 3bet preflop
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/51dc9.KEKE.png
AQ
HAND1: We had quite a history with fellow LPer Lilzhiming at NL25, throwing stacks with QJo and 33 and stuff like that
+ Show Spoiler +
Still this breaks down to one fundamental mistake - I called a 4bet UTG oop with the intention to check fold when I miss and to stack off with hands that are dominated.
HAND2:
+ Show Spoiler +
Unknown, I raise UTG and flat his 3bet 5handed and do nothing in the hand (guess I was delayed floating?)
Well how could I? He was unknown
HAND3-X: Stack offs v shorties/midstacks. AQ is losing me moneyz, is this just variance? Do you stack off v unknown midstacks with AQ?
+ Show Spoiler +
HAND4:
Unknown again, check min raise, I don't see how I can get away from getting stacked, do you guys just fold PF?
+ Show Spoiler +
HAND5&6: I call when deep with the intention of check folding when I don't hit and to stack off with a dominated hand...
22/18 7% 3bet and a sweet spot to 3bet from his perspective.
Hand6 is where I call a 3bet from a total nit
+ Show Spoiler +
+ Show Spoiler +
2) 99
HAND1:
15/15/3/13WTSD 4/31 3bet (14%)
squeeze 1/5 opportunities prior to the hand
This looks so bad omg. This was so horribly misplayed. If I really think he is so wide I can float him for 100bb, this would be a 4bet/call preflop. Not to say my turn bet is retarded.
+ Show Spoiler +
Actually, lets look at 4bet shove as an option, because shoving is sexy, and 4bet calling will have virtually the same effect.
Shoving with hands that need fold equity is essentially a semi-bluff (e.g. any time you are shoving with AK against a regular you are semi bluffing), and shoving with 99 is nothing different in the said situation.
EV(semi-bluff) = X * Dead Money + (1- X) * [Equity * (Dead Money + Bet Size) - (1- Equity) * Bet Size]
Dead money=15
Equity= 35.775%
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 64.225% 64.03% 00.19% 223662072 681114.00 { QQ+, AKs, AKo }
Hand 1: 35.775% 35.58% 00.19% 124285716 681114.00 { 99 }
Bet size= 71.9
Fold Equity = X
EV= X*15 +(1-x)*[0.35775*(15+71.9)-(1-0.35775)*71.9]
0= 15x +(1-x)* (31.088475-46.17775)
0=15x +(1-x)(-15.089275)
0=15x-15.089275+15.089275x
0=30.089275x-15.089275
0=x-0.50149
x=0.50149
50% of the time he has to fold - this should be an easy 4bet/call or direct shove with the information we have at the moment if he calls only QQ+ AK as we are deep. It gets worse if he calls/shoves JJ but folds AQs, but it should still be profitable if I believe he 3bets more than 7% of his hands (88+, ATs+, KTs+, AQo+)
If anything it will be WAY better than calling and spewing like I did in the hand
HAND2:
80bb out the window against unknown.
+ Show Spoiler +
HAND3: I rep the ace, and then CALL when he is making an obvious BLOCKBET? what the fuck.
Don't raise turn or shove river, there is nothing in between and when I have a read I have to go with it when I raise turn.
+ Show Spoiler +
3) Broadways
HAND1-X: I shouldn't go calling KQo against unknown with any other intention to hit 2pair+ when they raise small or to see showdown as cheaply as possible.
Another example of not sticking to my PF plan, and I will be better of just pitching especially the unsuited broadways preflop or go to 4bet/fold.
+ Show Spoiler +
+ Show Spoiler +
HAND2: This is missplayed a lot.
Ok, I call preflop to get a dream flop. Thats why I call, to shove flops like this one. Yet I decide to float.
This is really bad, and I should check flop only if I want a free river card. I put my stack in anyway, but I didn't do it on the flop with 50% equity, but on the turn with 30%.
+ Show Spoiler +
Development Points:
- Don't call 3bets without a plan (plan=c/f on total blanks = 4bet or fold)
- Stick to my plan (99 hand) if I don't have a plan, FOLD PREFLOP.
- don't call 3bets while multitabling, 4bet or fold unless call is the only option.
Questions
1)AQo - do you stack off against random mid stacks at NL50,NL100 when you get 3bet?
2)Can you provide examples of your plan against what villains when calling 3bets preflop other than check fold with broadways etc?
What hands are you calling to a 3bet and why?
P.S. For those that got this far, here is some reward( NSFW), I really appreciate any contribution.

| | Moved up to 50nl by Mariuslol, January 03
May sound weird but feels pretty scary, not played that much on here. But I notice I really feel it when I lose a stack, 100e just seem so much, and I think, crap, that's 5bi at 20nl. And I'm trying to feel if I'm playing scared after that, didn't feel like I was on tilt or anything wrong, but when I lost a few all ins in a row I just closed the tables.
Grrrr

| | First day at NL5 by phrenik, January 03
Today was my first shot at NL5 and it went pretty well. Up just over 3 BI's in 1079 hands. If I keep up this pace I'll be done NL5 in about a week. I did make some terrible calls and I paid off big pocket pairs with small/medium pocket pairs way too many times. Also got check/minraised on 4 of my 7 biggest losing hands. I guess I need to give any aggression more credit, even if it's a minraise. It doesn't really feel much different than NL2 at all, although there seem to be a few more players with stats that I can 3bet light against.
Ran into some crazy hands. In this one the action makes no sense at all. I raised a minbet on a 3way flop (admittedly probably too small) with second pair and got min-reraised, the original bettor called the reraise and I called behind, quite confused. The turn brought three to a flush and the original bettor donked small. With only 2nd pair I decided I'd had enough and folded, and the two left in the hand proceeded to minraise each other until they got all-in. Then they turned over 3rd and 4th pair. I sat there in shock, the only relief was the fact I would have gotten sucked out on.
+ Show Spoiler +
This hand a player folded to a $0.10 bet into a $4.67 pot on the river when he had $0.07 left behind. Once again, shock.
