Wrote an article on tilt control which you can find below, semi bump
Besides that my goals for 2010 are:
- $200k (I plan on doing well in WSOP this year obv)
- At least 600k hands (though to achieve $200k in purely online results it'd prob take a mil)
- 1knl reg by end of year, if I'm still focusing only on NL6max
I've also began compiling Expense Reports for each month, separated by things I needed and by things I wanted at the time, hopefully it'll cut down on my spending. I might also transfer my play to Stars, not sure yet. I'm for sure pretty sick of FTP.
BOOOM. Database check.
I don't expect anyone to read this al, as its super boring. Please just scroll down and answer the couple questions I have prepared for you

Still this breaks down to one fundamental mistake - I called a 4bet UTG oop with the intention to check fold when I miss and to stack off with hands that are dominated.

Actually, lets look at 4bet shove as an option, because shoving is sexy, and 4bet calling will have virtually the same effect.
Shoving with hands that need fold equity is essentially a semi-bluff (e.g. any time you are shoving with AK against a regular you are semi bluffing), and shoving with 99 is nothing different in the said situation.
EV(semi-bluff) = X * Dead Money + (1- X) * [Equity * (Dead Money + Bet Size) - (1- Equity) * Bet Size]
Dead money=15
Equity= 35.775%
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 64.225% 64.03% 00.19% 223662072 681114.00 { QQ+, AKs, AKo }
Hand 1: 35.775% 35.58% 00.19% 124285716 681114.00 { 99 }
50% of the time he has to fold - this should be an easy 4bet/call or direct shove with the information we have at the moment if he calls only QQ+ AK as we are deep. It gets worse if he calls/shoves JJ but folds AQs, but it should still be profitable if I believe he 3bets more than 7% of his hands (88+, ATs+, KTs+, AQo+)
If anything it will be WAY better than calling and spewing like I did in the hand

HAND1-X: I shouldn't go calling KQo against unknown with any other intention to hit 2pair+ when they raise small or to see showdown as cheaply as possible.
Another example of not sticking to my PF plan, and I will be better of just pitching especially the unsuited broadways preflop or go to 4bet/fold.

Development Points:
- Don't call 3bets without a plan (plan=c/f on total blanks = 4bet or fold)
- Stick to my plan (99 hand) if I don't have a plan, FOLD PREFLOP.
- don't call 3bets while multitabling, 4bet or fold unless call is the only option.
Questions
1)AQo - do you stack off against random mid stacks at NL50,NL100 when you get 3bet?
2)Can you provide examples of your plan against what villains when calling 3bets preflop other than check fold with broadways etc?
What hands are you calling to a 3bet and why?
P.S. For those that got this far, here is some reward( NSFW), I really appreciate any contribution.
May sound weird but feels pretty scary, not played that much on here. But I notice I really feel it when I lose a stack, 100e just seem so much, and I think, crap, that's 5bi at 20nl. And I'm trying to feel if I'm playing scared after that, didn't feel like I was on tilt or anything wrong, but when I lost a few all ins in a row I just closed the tables.
Today was my first shot at NL5 and it went pretty well. Up just over 3 BI's in 1079 hands. If I keep up this pace I'll be done NL5 in about a week. I did make some terrible calls and I paid off big pocket pairs with small/medium pocket pairs way too many times. Also got check/minraised on 4 of my 7 biggest losing hands. I guess I need to give any aggression more credit, even if it's a minraise. It doesn't really feel much different than NL2 at all, although there seem to be a few more players with stats that I can 3bet light against.
Ran into some crazy hands. In this one the action makes no sense at all. I raised a minbet on a 3way flop (admittedly probably too small) with second pair and got min-reraised, the original bettor called the reraise and I called behind, quite confused. The turn brought three to a flush and the original bettor donked small. With only 2nd pair I decided I'd had enough and folded, and the two left in the hand proceeded to minraise each other until they got all-in. Then they turned over 3rd and 4th pair. Warning, newb math here (been a long time i've not done math)
I'm only silverstar statut, so here's the deal :
How much do i need to win the 280 fpp hyper turbo S&G (6max) in order to make more profit than the 25000 fpp for 285$ with selling T$ to LP (forget the additionnal vpps for clearing the 285$ bonus) ?
With my maths, i need to win 1 time out of 3 in order to make profit but i'm not sure if i've made it right.
Plz feel free to correct me. If needed i'll ship 5$ (i'm a nl5 grinder, it's not much but hope it helps)
alternative software for ipod video halp?by whamm!, January 03
I've have a 3 year old ipod video which i barely use for songs and vids coz i cant understand itunes at all. i hate how fucking complicated things are when all i realy wanna do is fucking drag and drop shit like a regular computer. is there any other software out there you guys know of which can simplify/convert-real time everything?
Little late getting to my year end results, mainly because I didnt even bother looking. But after deciding to do so, I think I actually have something to be proud about.
And hey, look at that, only -8BB/100, so not like I was a total donk out of the gate!
So, I have improved! This is great! It means I am learning something afterall! I'm still waiting for my next real landmark, the $0 point. As sad as that sounds, I actually dont feel depressed looking forward to the day I break even. But I do think I'll get there, and much much further.
That is all. Happy new year you smelly bastards.
P.S. This does not reflect live earnings, of which I added up from my ATM deposits to be roughly $500.
P.P.S. We are also considering moving to vegas. More on that later.
Happy New year everyone, hope ya'll had a good party.
I recently moved into my new apartment here in Bangkok. I was living with 2 other poker players for nearly a year here so we all eventually decided to see what it is like if we were to split up and get our own apartments. I think it was a really good idea 'cos somehow now i feel much more independant.
Poker has been going OK i guess, if u put into account how much i've been spending thus hindering me from moving up stakes. Playing the $6.5 18 man sngs mostly. had a really bad roi% due to mostly having some leaks once I get ITM (playing too loose) and prob playing too many tables as well. With the fpps rakeback i made and some small tournament cashes i made around $2.8k in December. Which puts my hourly to a miserable $21/hour
I've been playing NL10 and sometimes I lose like 6-8 buys in one session, but im rarely ever up that much in one session. Is that normal? I usually multi table. Sometimes I can't tell if i'm running bad or playing bad.

I'll let you guess against whose i'm losing the most.
Obviously fishes because they'd never fold, just call even their 3rd or 4th pair...
Really need to stop spewing money against those donks cauz i'm even more stupid when i make like pot sized bet on river with nothing.
God.
Hope this January i'll wait for good hands and move up to nl25 asap... Then see if my read and bluffs are better...

first post here - never much a poster, but visiting this site like every day for few yrs...
I'm playing on ongame n stuff and don't know much people here, on my MSN I have only like shaw67896 (hello Greg! sry for misspeling these numbers lol) and I dont play that much on Stars and hey recently I received the email from PokerStars that they invite me to their Juno Invitational freerolls..
My cousins taught me the multiplayer over xmas and I'm hooked now, looking for some LP guys to play with. I have a grand total of ZERO steam friends, haha.
2)3bet - as expected, the profitability goes down from NL10 to NL100 gradually.
Still this potentially can be something I can improve upon, I will refresh Professor Plotkin to get the math behind 3bets right and try to push them higher. http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/6a910.KEKE.png

Call 3bet preflop - leak, kinda obvious one.
I don't play back too much in 3bet pots. I have to watch Plotkin and fix this, I really am calling just to fold when I miss way too often.
A super thin play, the dude was a huge fish as far as I can remember

Low SC and gappers - the upswing is recent when 4 tabling, I think this is a clear indication that I should tigten up when I don't play my A game soul reading all over the place on 4 tables. http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/9f20e.KEKE.png
Well, my PT3 froze now daaaam. Its 1:20 anyway, I will analyse this tomorrow and add more graphs and try to get some conclusions together/areas to focus on.
If you guys could tell me what other filters are significant in terms if leak finding, that would be much appreciated.
Please note that these hands are from NL10-NL100 from past two months as I played them (NL10-NL25-NL50-NL100 as I moved up)
I think I am getting used to playing NL10. I posted how frustrated I was about NL10 yesterday night. And since then I have made some adjustments. Namely, not stacking off so easily in big pots. Having this more "cautious" approach has definately made me value bet worse, but I think I can gradually adjust to this and I hope to do well at balancing the two in the future.
I reduced the tables I play to at first 10 tables. This has helped alot. I plan on increasing the number of tables gradually, as I feel for a Full Ring player, the ability to multitable well is really important.
I logged in 5400 hands since last night. It starts around hand 62000, and I think the graph points to a significantly lower variance style. Notice the decrease in variance near the end of the graph.
I hope to keep this up. I think I can do it. But wish me luck anyway!
TY for reading.
PS - thumbs up to Midan and Iverson2k2k. Gave me confidence after losing alot of it yesterday.
