On to NL25 by phrenik, February 02

Hit 20 BI for NL25 yesterday but I was too lazy to type out an update. Apparently I was running way over EV through NL10 but it honestly didn't feel like it. I sucked out a few times pretty big but with all the coolers I took it didn't feel like I was running hot. I felt like I played the same game I've been playing since NL2 but with some small changes from what I've learned. Averaging $6.06 an hour over NL10 means that hopefully I'll finally be making above minimum wage at NL25!

Rush poker was introduced half way through my run through NL10 and at first I thought it was great. I played super nitty the first couple days and ran so good. But eventually I started running bad and decided that I'd rather play at normal tables than playing against unknown players every hand.

A big thanks to everyone who has been helping me out in the Low Stakes forum, it's much appreciated. I'm starting to see a lot more in every hand now. I have a pretty good grasp on what boards are good/bad to cbet and I'm also starting to see when it's good to float, c/r a cbet or double barrel.

Some of the more entertaining hands I had at NL10
Damn where's the bad beat jackpot

It kind of tilted me that I had two losing sessions in the last couple of days because I had to go for dinner, but a great Monday (and rungood Tuesday at NL25) made it easy to get over.

Rock bottom January by BJLTNYK, February 02

One of my goals for the year was to blog at least monthly to be accountable for everything that happens.

And yeah...January was horrible.

RESULTS:
Online cash games:19542 hands, -$1,448.35
Online MTTs:1 final table, 1 win, +$1,998.94
Online SNGs:19 played, -$74.50
Live poker:DNP
Sports betting:4-8-0, -$13,952

Overall net:-$13,475.91

Have finally realized my sports betting is a problem and I'm actually going to GA for it (insert LOLs here). Haven't played poker since Jan. 14th. Will probably be starting that back up tonight. Need to stick to what I'm good at and stop trying to get rich quick through sports betting. :/

GL dis month yo
Brian

random thoughts blog by mnj, February 02

1) ftp you pos, what kind of getto ass update is this. Instantly makes me regret transferring the rest of my funds here.
2) poker makes more sense to me. i don't want to jinx it or say anything ridiculous like i finally get it. but it makes more sense to me.
3) this guy is so tight -.-

4)life is kinda hard, i sorta stress about it. pretty much done with college and have a pretty worthelss econ degree :/
5) i work 40 hours a week helping people lose weight. it's pretty exhausting although to be quite honest, i really do love helping people make permanent lifestyle changes. losing weight is just a giant metaphor for a true personal change in one's actual life.
6) kinda forced to work this much to help my mom and dad out. this recession is pretty tough and even though i voted for that pos obama for some change, the only change in my life is me and my dad both have to pay higher taxes.
7) i don't really have any close ties with my family, ever since i was in highschool i've pretty much always had a part time job paying for stuff. i mean don't get me wrong i'm grateful for all that my ma and dad provided me. because it's only because they have provided me basic things can i take on these new and abstract problems dealing with transcendentalism/existentialism. i guess i wish me and my dad or my ma could be closer. actually we don't talk about anything. they are pretty simple beautiful people.
8) because of work i've never really had that many friends in high school and it's never really bothered me i guess until i went to college and saw for myself how close friends can get. it actually really gets to me sometimes. i feel ridiculously lonely and just want to scream is anyone out there.

anyway end bitching. existentialism pretty overrated. listen to this song yo

Januari by Rocks2BeGood, February 02

Hi All,

I have started playing again in Januari.
The last months i did not play a lot but i really am motivated to keep this up.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/3e035.Jan.gif

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/c5656.Jan_Graph.gif

- Did not make 100k hands goal
- Due to a 40 hour job
- Made platinumstar
- Made about 350 in bonusses

On course to moveup the coming month or the month after.

Question, how can i calculate my equity in this graph?

Thanks,

Ron

FR--> 6 max by Thall, February 02

Since my shots at NL25 weren't sucessful i decided to play NL10 again and start learing a bit how to play 6 max, because i guess it's easier to do this at the low stakes than later. I found 1 or 2 articles on the internet but they arent really good. So if any of you guys has a some tips or maybe knows some articles about transitioning from FR to 6 max i would be very glad.

have a nice day

I think this misses most of his range and I think I made a really bad laydown. His big bet on the turn confused the hell out of me.

This brought back a hand from yesterday where a player limped UTG and reraised me with KQQ4 and ended up hitting the nut 9-k vs my double suited aces so I was really wary of calling him down with only a pair. Thoughts?

2Vi3T_B0Y4 potential scam by Gadget, February 02

He has 900 posts so I dont want to accuse him of scamming me just yet. About 2 weeks ago I transferred him $568 on FTP and was supposed to receive the same amount via cake. I never received the money and he said he emailed support to find out why. He hasnt contacted me in over a week, I have sent him 3 pm's during that time.

I was asking for a transfer of $1500 and he replied saying he only had $568 which seems very odd if he was planning on scamming me. What do you guys think? Do any of you have a history with this member?

25NL, am i spewing??? by JSquids, February 02

this is a concept i have been battling with ever since i started trying to play poker profitably. i played about 130K hands at 10NL and i found out the best way to beat these low limit steaks is to simply value bet big when you have it, and cbet small and bluff small when you do not. it is very ez to win playing face up at these steaks (no squeezing, no trying to outplay IP, ect)

i have moved up to 25NL a few nights ago. here are a few hands that i think may be borderline spew.

this first one i think is played fine. im showing this too illustrate my understanding of equity.

in this hand i know my villian can have any PP (his pf action call, call lets me know this), or really 2 spades with the call on the flop.
i bet the flop with the intent of shoving a non space, ace , king turn. is this correct thinking? or should i check/call and check/fold a non spade, ace , king river? im pretty positive that the turn shuv was correct.

this hand i 3 bet my JJ OOP to his late raise hoping for value or a call and dry flop fold from him.. if i flop the overpair i am willing to get it allin. can his flop raise/call be spades or a 10 enuff for me to get value? im sure he has other PP's and stupid shit lots of times to make up for it. he is not full stacked which makes me beleive he is a fish. so i shove these players all day in similer situations. correct?

this hand is somewhat smiler but more difficult because he has me covered and i fear a raise. i also dont want to check becuase it seems very weak and i dont want to be bumped off the best hand. id rather bet, there is more equity in it. the reason i bet the flop is to tax the hearts and value smaller PP's who will call here multiway. the turn bet is as well to tax a heart draw and a strait draw. also to get value from PP smaller than i or mybe a weaker 10. when the jack comes on the river im almost positive that he does not have a jack so i go for a value bet.

this is more of a logic question here about betting for value. am i trying to bet to thin? should these be check calls? should these be played differently? thx for the opinions.

January by phexac, February 02

January was somewhat swingy with several short but brutal downswings hitting me as I added more and more NL400 volume. In the end, it turned out to be a good month though. I stopped playing ring games on FTP almost completely because, besides being rigged, FTP simply cannot compete with the new Stars rewards system. Just straight up points to concierge at regular Supernova at 6-max Stars comes out to 31% of MGR. Since the actual rake I pay tends to be quite a bit lower than MGR, my actual rakeback is quite a bit higher. On top of that, you add Stellar Rewards and Milestone bonuses along with other minor stuff such as deposit bonuses etc. and you are looking at something that is way way better than the 27% rakeback on FTP. Iron Man adds a tiny bit, but nothing really significant unless you play A TON on FTP alone.

In addition to my cash winnings online, I also won some during my two trips to the local casino as well as a couple of tournament cashes. Along with rakeback, the month came out to just over $10k, making it a good start to the year.

The goal for this month is to keep working on increasing volume while transitioning to playing almost exclusively NL400. I also need to get on the schedule where I swim at least 6 times a week and do drylands at least 3. Our practices start at 5:30am on weekdays, so it's easy to get out of the groove and miss a few if I do not maintain a fairly strict schedule. It is said that it takes 3 weeks to develop a habit, which is just under the length of February. So by the end of February, I want to have my workout schedule down. My goal is to be in top shape for Masters Swimming Nationals at the end of summer. Half a year is a good amount of time to prepare, but I need to start now.

Here's my graph for the past month:

Trying 45/90/180 mans for a change... by Fujikura, February 02

So I decided to try my luck at some of these 45/90/180 mans on stars, and am kind of liking my results. No doubt I am running good, but considering I know absolutely nothing about these games, I'm kind of happy with the results so far. I've been 30-50 tabling them, and kind of making some bad decisions in tough spots, but overall I am happy with results, and got some help from a few LPers about strategies and such. Here's a graph of the last few days where I run hot like fire.
http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/5803/overally.jpg
And here's a pic of my last session which was an insane luckbox lol.
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/2395/jajajaps.jpg
All in all, I will try to grind out a bunch of these this month and see what kind of ROI I can achieve. If anybody has any general advice for these kind of games, I'd appreciate it. As always, good luck LP!
Dino
