R.I.P. Nujabes by Into Infinity, March 18

i don't know how many of you know who he is, but Jun Seba, aka Nujabes, has passed away. if you have any interest in rap or hip-hop at all, then you would know who he is.

if not, he was a producer from japan who is probably most famous for his work on the soundtrack of Samurai Champloo.

this man is literally the reason i bought my first turntables and he is probably my favorite producer of all time.

here are some of his best songs (imo):

to be honest, i'm devastated and i feel like shit right now.

selling US beta key by Etherone, March 18

The game isn't exciting for me, at least not as much as i had hoped. ive played about 10 games in the last 5 days, and that seems like a waste.

you'll get my battle.net account, which i dont use for anything, so naturally it's yours at least until the beta is entirely over.
i understand a few people who have accounts are receiving invites. If i receive an invite by email for this account it will be yours to do with what you please.
stats are resetting soon, but as of now im in the gold league at 15th

$100 is my asking price.
pm me and or post here with questions or to contact me.

edit: my location is my country of origin, but i am in toronto canada if that makes a difference at all

edit2: credibility wise i have little other than my word which means little on the internet, and an interest in not pissing off a great community in which i have spent a great deal of my time, and will continue to do so i am including TL in this.

i have been to TL lans, and frequent the place like an addict, although i don't post too too much aside from the dota thread since i aim not to get banned.

i am a nothing player and im using the cash for poker. i started playing online with 10$ for a hon invite, which i sold here, someone else initiated the transaction, simply pmed me offering 10 for an invite. i busted that fairly quickly. Atems on stars

later i signed up for the poker strategy offer that appeared with the tsl2 i started short staking, and quickly decided i wasn't going anywhere like that so i tried all kinds of shit, HU 6max, high limits etcetcetc which brought my roll to $10 which i built back up to about $50 and then pretty stopped playing.
since i stopped i didn't play the necessary amount of hands tp keep the 50$ offered (300 party points irc) so they took it back - the rake i made them i believe which left me 5-10 on that account( Etherone) which is still there.

the money i get from this if i do sell the acc, will go for poker. ive learned quite a bit, and i feel it's time i gave this a disciplined
shot.

SOLD

update by PplusAD, March 17

Since i semi broked in march playing 6max cashgames i decided to do some boku87 style grind.

currently i have 1,7K left in my poker account and 500€ in bank account T_T
thats all money i posses right now.

So how did money melt ?

1.) i moved out from my parents to live with my girlfriend in a new appartement.
that allone cost me like 2000€ in the first month for provision, security and furniture

after that i had to pay lots of stuff like monthly apartment rent, food , train tickets , and stuff
going out from time to time i spend an average of 650-700€ a month total.
This is not really too much but its quite a difference to living with your parents where u spend like 200€ on partying and rest is for free ^^

my original plan in the first months was to pay stuff from rakeback and like 3-4 BI of poker income.
worked out okayish the first months ...
some month i made a small profit , some months a small deficit.
However then i got to do some serious universty tests and had no time for poker.
-> big deficit month moneywise.
Then after tests are done i sit down and try to grind shit out at NL50 -> 18,5 BI downswing FML !

result of that was allready mentioned earlier

currently i have 1,7K left in my poker account and 500€ in bank account T_T
thats all money i posses right now.

Since this is nowhere near comfortable BR to play Nl50 when u have to pay stuff i had to move down to NL25 the last days.

Allthough i decided to need some break and do some microstakes SNGS

Within the last 3 days i played ~ 200SNGS ~ 14h

of the following stuff

2$ HU 4man
6$ HU 2man
2$ SNG 18man
2$ sng 27man
6$ SNG 18man
some occasional 11$ HU 2man

Overall result so far + 140$ -> 10$/H grind

YAY
gonna continue this for a while and see how it develops
if i keep this 10$/h its still enough to pay for things ( considering 3h a day 30days a month -> 700€ ~ breakeven life)

Well looking back at my poker carrer i failed in many many ways ....
considering i was at Nl200 at one point having 3K income weeks or 1K days at NL100 HU and stuff its really fucked up how i did not improve.

on the other hand i am quite happy overall with my life and since u cant be good at everything seems poker is just something i really suck.
2 years of effort and i am still only a semi breakeven Nl100 6max and HU player

LOLZ

Good luck all

Day 1 by Fujikura, March 17

Started with about $500 in my cashier, along with and 22,000 fpps. I played some 280 fpp 6 max hyper-turbo satellites to the sunday 1/4 million, and cashed in 6. Since then, I've grinded my roll to $660ish playing $10 and $20 double or nothings, and am now going to start at the $3.25 and $6.50 45 man levels, throwing in some 180 mans as well. I'll post results at the end of the day.

2 weeks later by Night2o1, March 17

Hey all,
First off thanks for all the different thoughts I received in my last blog. Here's what has been going on since.

I am in the middle of a 3 week course in conversational Thai for beginners, which is a nice diversion and gives me something to wake up to do in the morning. I'm learning at a pretty mediocre rate, I'm probably in the middle or bottom half thai skill-wise of the class of 8. The teacher is great fun though.

With the help of a place to be in the morning, I've decided to set myself a schedule for the duration of the course. I go to bed at a certain time, and play poker in a certain time frame, etc. I've managed to follow it about 70% of the time, which isn't bad, and I'm trying to improve on that. Its sort of an experiment to see how I feel and how my poker performance is under such conditions..

I've also taken up an 8 week meditation course, which has been pretty cool. It is an introduction to meditation for beginners and only takes 8 minutes a day.. in the course of 8 weeks you basically 'sample' 8 different meditation techniques and from there you have a better idea of what meditation is about and can continue on on your own. I'm not sure if the benefits are coming through yet but its a good experience.

Finally, I've been trying very hard to work on my game. Watching videos, and taking notes. A nagging thought I've had for a long time now is if I have the wrong basic approach, or foundation of thought in my poker game. I can't seem to make any real progress here though.. Anyway, I have done some tweaking so I'll see where it takes me. Either way.. I'm sure I'm beating nl50 6m though my results since moving down are hardly confidence boosting (and i've only played 6.5k b/e hands of nl50 6max this month).

Graph since my ban
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/cdd3f.march 2nd-17.jpg

And I'm still stuck $750 for the month lol.

Writing this blog was depressing, fail.

Fun fact, I was $1700 over EV this month and now I'm even LOL. The best part is I've never had such an epic losing session and felt so good about myself, so I guess this is a brag post.

Don't hurt me for blogging again plz

I might crack and maybe spend some FTP points :o

Hopefully I can finish it tonight, all nighter GOGOGO

Thats it by LemOn[5thF], March 16

30K ands NL50 Challenge finished.

I played a few days without a tracker so the number will come to roughly 30K.

What Was it
Jan sale at Stars made me masstable. And lose money, where I played like 5% A game.

I decided that I will just fuck it all, rebuild from NL25 and play 30k hands at NL25 and NL50 before doing some other business.

I needed to prove to myself that I have the self control to play a steady 4 tabling poker with my A game at least 50% of the time.
And that I simply can win.

Results
As this challenge was not about money at all, but about my discipline, I will break down the results to categories

Number of tables
Score: 9/10

Yeah baby, I was in the zone!
I 4 tabled about 85% of the time, 12% 6tabled and only 3% 7+ tabled 2 days ago.

Tilt Control
Score:8/10

I played my A game some 70% of the time. A massive increase when compared to the past.
I played my still winning B game for some 22.5-25%
My C game accounted for only some 5-7.5%, and it of course cost me some 8 buy ins in total, including 2 today.

What are the rough categories?

A game:
Realise and take note of 90%+ pots that happen on all tables
Only make decisions for a reason with considering all alternatives at all times
Ideal table and seat selection - playing only the best tables.
Never spew

B Game
- Realise and note big pots that went to sd
- Make solid standard decisions
- Leave -ev tables
- Never spew

C game
- Note nothing
- Raise 30%+ hands regardless of oposition
- make spontaneus decisions that oppose my own mind and thinking processes
- Just spew away stacks for no reason, open more tables, quit way too late.

I largely avoided my C game by:

- 1 hour fixed period before coming from work and starting tables
- Taking mandatory brakes at the latest after 80 minutes
- Attempt to avoid playing when I am tired/have eaten too much/am too sleepy.

Whenever I breached the rules my C game occured in about 50% of cases. Sick.

Betting Patterns
8/10
This is what you interned kids call playing poker.

I thik I beat NL50 now.
What helped me a lot was playing 500 bb deep with one of the biggest fish I have ever seen.
The answer is simple: Call more, Limp more and generally see more flops.
There are only handful of people that play like me that widen their 3 betting range when a fish limps and reg isolates, or that isolate with large frequency. I found it more profitable to limp a lot of suited connectors or mediocre value hands behind fishy players, as my postflop edge is just massive and by raising preflop with weak hands I was just allowing them to play good preflop.
This will not apply for NL400+, where regs start to be very much aware of different rangesand will raise a huge amount of hands when you limp beind a fish or isolate small amounts with very wide ranges, but that just doesn't happen here.

I was also experimenting with overbetting with good sucess, and playing OOP with emphasis on donk betting, and thats an area I have to focus on.
I also have to study advanced math concepts, I just suck in that area.

And obviously I made hundreds of mistakes, but I go by the philosophy that its much better to play loose, try new things and learn by trial and error than by being a nit that never really evolves or adjusts.

Highstakes is my longterm goal, not grinding midstakes 40 hours per week.

Results
10/10

I ran extremely hot. Not in All in EV, not so much in setups, but very much in timing of my runs. When I played my B and C game, I almost always had periods of +EV, and the biggest serial suckouts and bad beats came when I was playing my A game.

When I am focused, cards have 0% impact on my game. There were sessions where I lost 8 flips in a row, but It didn't get to me at all. But when I am tired/tilted from work or whatever, I don't even have to get a bad beat and I start spewing. And I ran hot when that happened, reducing my tilt category a ton, and being a great help.

Graphs:
I stopped multitabling on February 5th, Purged my database and started the challenge.
Here is all hands/stats since then minus a couple K when I played without HEM on because of technical problems.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/efc3d.KEKE.png
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/945b8.lol.PNG

Whats next
- Get into NL50 HU here and there, move up after I make some 10-20 BI. If you want free money by playing me at those stakes pelas esend me a pm.
- 20K hands NL100 6max, shots at soft NL200 tables if my winrate will be above 2BB/100 at NL100
- Mass table NL50 in last few days of the month to keep my SN (I just love Stars too much not to at least try to keep it)

Skype
Sorry for being out of touch with you guys. There wasn't much to talk about when I was playing NL50 and just battling my own tilt and masstabling demons.

This will now change as I move up /move to HU and we should have stuff to discuss

If anyone wants to discuss hands or get some Sweat sessions going add lp-lemOn
