bah need to transfer back to stars lolby whamm!, March 18
4900 total .
fucking software tilts me, better get out while im still ahead a little. because soon this will be a recipe for disaster haha.
goddam stars cant escape that shit
keep it going plz. took a tiny NL200 shot and it went well. Felt like I was playing well and the regs still the same guys i play against at NL100 or just bad so no problem.
Oh also all hands or most anyway were played at Full ring.
So I've been goofing around at the CAP tables again on FTP but for different reasons this time. The first time I played these it was simply because the tables were so ridiculously crowded with fish you couldnt lose. My hourly was higher playing CAP200 than it would have been playing NL400. But then I ran into some new breed of short stackers who also populate the tables and lacked the knowledge to adjust. Eventually I agreed with poker theorists that the lack of EV made it a waste of my time.
But lately I've been discovering some new leaks, #1 of which is that I just get it in too damn light too damn often. I'm always 3bet/4bet jamming my Ax flush draws, OESD's, and valuetowning myself with TPTK. So I dove back into the CAP games again with the intention of using them for their purpose, to "limit your risk of ruin" as FTP puts it. I dont mind only winning a 60BB pot with a fullhouse because it's helping train me how better to see my draws and TP type hands through. Basically, it's helping limit my risk of ruin lol. I've always commented on myself that I tend to win lots of small pots, but always lose the big ones. A good smallball type player should know how to dodge big pot losses, but I'm not there yet. But I'm still really confident in my preflop and flop game. It's the turn/river that always gets me.
And here comes the fish. While playing today, I was sitting at a table full of nits. I just joined at random and didnt really care. My stats were actually 50/30/3 at 200 hands. None of them ever adjusted. My steal must have been like 70% would I would just minraise the BTN every time and get folds. But I wasnt making much either. I would win a bunch of small pots and lose an allin on the flop or preflop thanks to the CAP limit. Luckily the cap kept me breakeven. Then along comes some obvious fish. Raising 6xBB from all positions, min3betting pre, and jamming any pair on the flop. It only took 3 hands before I was all over him, after witnessing him limp call preflop with Q6o. And heeeeeeeere comes teh money! I went from breakeven at 200 hands to finishing +3.2BI's at 46BB/100, all off one single player.
He eventually just left, and there went my earnings. While I managed not to get stacked again, I never won much after than. Just raise raise raise, they fold fold fold, then I get 3bet and see it's pretty obvious I have to fold. Who'd a thunk that a nit wouldnt be 3betting or calling light? Shocking.. Sad thing is I still remember reading some HSP's blog once that basically said, even if there is one fish at a table full of nits, that table is +EV.
Sooooooo... guess I'll start working on my table selection more. While playing loose as fuck vs nits is fun and all, at least from a boredom point of view, and playing loose vs fish is stressful, from a variance point of view; observe the fish and ADJUST ADJUST ADJUST! There is no 1 way to beat a fish. You dont necessarily have to tighten up or play by anyone else's set of rules to beat them. There is a certain level of respect held for players who teach themselves the game, as with all things in life. Since I havent read a book or guide or watched a video in ages, I have no particular memory of how certain pro's explain how to beat certain players. All I have right now is my own common sense. Keeping this unbiased perspective to the game might be good for me.
Yo I'm switching to Full Tilt from poker stars since it'd prolly be better for me since I'm a micro/low stakes nub anyways.
Got two questions.
A while back I already made a FT account just so I can rail the pros on FT. Is there a way I can still sign up for rake back with my already made account? If so, what do I do?
Second. For the first deposit 600 bonus, what's the equivalent of the length of time or amount of hands it takes to get that playing nl 25? Is it like the equivalent to x mount of VPPS in stars etc etc. Just wondering.
GAWD I've been playing well, then I got fucking sick, AGAIN! Now I was playing decent + I just hit a doomswitch that cost me a shit load. Try not to whine anymore but anyways, I really feel like shit because of my health right now. FML, sick + doom + nub + fuck
Im going to save the graphs for whenever they actually become meaningful.
But yeah I had a good session. The past couple of weeks have been somewhat frustrating. My original plan was just to regrind about the 5 buyins I needed to play NL 25 again...But I got my hands on a book so Ive been devoting 80% or so of my poker time to studying.
Applying the concepts were somewhat frustrating, and I experienced a patch of some swingy sessions. Ive learned that its better to be a learner than a winner. But nobody likes to lose of course.
Anyway this morning I decided to spend most of my day playing. I ran well at NL 10. I played pretty well also I think, and I applied alot of the concepts. So once I hit a ~700 I played a bit of NL 25 as I felt my game was really sharp at the time, and I ended up winning a bit there, which was nice.
Im posting updates cause awhile ago I used the search function to look at my old threads to see what my thought processes were back then. And I can see that alot of the people on LP have been really awesome in trying to help me learn how to play. But I saw that often Ive made alot of the same mistakes in poker. I may not even have remembered certain players have tried to help me in the past and stuff. I imagine coming from the perspective of a mentor, a bad student is probably a frustrating thing...especially since I have been playing micros for awhile. But I feel I have treated poker very unprofessionally in the past, and for sporadic commitments...And I feel like I am alot more serious this time.
Im going to sumarize my last 3 months, I played little bit on NL100 in december and january (about 250 k hands in total). It doesnt went pretty well. I finished about -2k usd but - 500 on EV. In February I return back on NL50 where I try improve my game. I play at least 5 hours every day.
I hope, Ill be able to play NL100 soon. This Year I would like to reach 500 k VPP milestone. Good Luck
i don't know how many of you know who he is, but Jun Seba, aka Nujabes, has passed away. if you have any interest in rap or hip-hop at all, then you would know who he is.
if not, he was a producer from japan who is probably most famous for his work on the soundtrack of Samurai Champloo.
this man is literally the reason i bought my first turntables and he is probably my favorite producer of all time.
here are some of his best songs (imo):
to be honest, i'm devastated and i feel like shit right now.
The game isn't exciting for me, at least not as much as i had hoped. ive played about 10 games in the last 5 days, and that seems like a waste.
you'll get my battle.net account, which i dont use for anything, so naturally it's yours at least until the beta is entirely over.
i understand a few people who have accounts are receiving invites. If i receive an invite by email for this account it will be yours to do with what you please.
stats are resetting soon, but as of now im in the gold league at 15th
$100 is my asking price.
pm me and or post here with questions or to contact me.
edit: my location is my country of origin, but i am in toronto canada if that makes a difference at all
edit2: credibility wise i have little other than my word which means little on the internet, and an interest in not pissing off a great community in which i have spent a great deal of my time, and will continue to do so i am including TL in this.
i have been to TL lans, and frequent the place like an addict, although i don't post too too much aside from the dota thread since i aim not to get banned.
i am a nothing player and im using the cash for poker. i started playing online with 10$ for a hon invite, which i sold here, someone else initiated the transaction, simply pmed me offering 10 for an invite. i busted that fairly quickly. Atems on stars
later i signed up for the poker strategy offer that appeared with the tsl2 i started short staking, and quickly decided i wasn't going anywhere like that so i tried all kinds of shit, HU 6max, high limits etcetcetc which brought my roll to $10 which i built back up to about $50 and then pretty stopped playing.
since i stopped i didn't play the necessary amount of hands tp keep the 50$ offered (300 party points irc) so they took it back - the rake i made them i believe which left me 5-10 on that account( Etherone) which is still there.
the money i get from this if i do sell the acc, will go for poker. ive learned quite a bit, and i feel it's time i gave this a disciplined
shot.
Since i semi broked in march playing 6max cashgames i decided to do some boku87 style grind.
currently i have 1,7K left in my poker account and 500€ in bank account T_T
thats all money i posses right now.
So how did money melt ?
1.) i moved out from my parents to live with my girlfriend in a new appartement.
that allone cost me like 2000€ in the first month for provision, security and furniture
after that i had to pay lots of stuff like monthly apartment rent, food , train tickets , and stuff
going out from time to time i spend an average of 650-700€ a month total.
This is not really too much but its quite a difference to living with your parents where u spend like 200€ on partying and rest is for free ^^
my original plan in the first months was to pay stuff from rakeback and like 3-4 BI of poker income.
worked out okayish the first months ...
some month i made a small profit , some months a small deficit.
However then i got to do some serious universty tests and had no time for poker.
-> big deficit month moneywise.
Then after tests are done i sit down and try to grind shit out at NL50 -> 18,5 BI downswing FML !
result of that was allready mentioned earlier
currently i have 1,7K left in my poker account and 500€ in bank account T_T
thats all money i posses right now.
Since this is nowhere near comfortable BR to play Nl50 when u have to pay stuff i had to move down to NL25 the last days.
Allthough i decided to need some break and do some microstakes SNGS
Within the last 3 days i played ~ 200SNGS ~ 14h
of the following stuff
2$ HU 4man
6$ HU 2man
2$ SNG 18man
2$ sng 27man
6$ SNG 18man
some occasional 11$ HU 2man
Overall result so far + 140$ -> 10$/H grind
YAY
gonna continue this for a while and see how it develops
if i keep this 10$/h its still enough to pay for things ( considering 3h a day 30days a month -> 700€ ~ breakeven life)
Well looking back at my poker carrer i failed in many many ways ....
considering i was at Nl200 at one point having 3K income weeks or 1K days at NL100 HU and stuff its really fucked up how i did not improve.
on the other hand i am quite happy overall with my life and since u cant be good at everything seems poker is just something i really suck.
2 years of effort and i am still only a semi breakeven Nl100 6max and HU player
