If you play without a HUD. How do you... by hiems, May 14

Spot Tight-Aggressive players when you are playing Hud-less? And figure out the idiosyncrasies to their game? Emphasis on playing hudless.

It seems that players that are fishy, laggy, and nitty are easy to spot, since their qualities are at extremities. But

I have trouble spotting "tight-aggressive" type players.

What kind of things do you look for? Which of those is the most important?

How soon do you reach conclusions? Do you ever make certain plays to "Test" how they will react to get a read? (Ex flatting a river bet to see how they play, or 3-betting them IP).

at what point is it ok to just ship over the 4 bet? Like how much do you think I should pay attention to betsizing. I mean a 4 bet is usually 20-26 percent of your stack and my question is what is the most optimal bet size, and do you ever bother 5 betting it back.

and random last question; how many of you guys just bet flop bet turn and ship river here?

ALMOST BUSTO!!!!!!!!!!!! by TheHuHu3, May 14

I've come to the point where I can't let a hand go for the life of me. Where I can't lay down overpairs to donk betters. I'm becoming stubborn as shit and it's pissing me off.

I'm going to Vegas for the weekend and hopefully a few days of no poker will set my mind straight then I'm back on the grind.

I've got 30 buy ins for NL100 left. I need to get my mind fucking right.

sleeping too much by k4ir0s, May 14

Do any of you guys (who dont work and go to school) still set your alarms in the morning and try not to sleep so much? My sleep schedule is always so messed up and I sleep 9-12hrs a day, yet i still feel tired when waking. Im not sure if its a common thing for people who dont really have to wake up in the morning, but its such a waste of time! any of you like this?

Bad Session!

The 73 hand was like the 5th hand of the session or so. The thing that might be bad about this hand was that I had cold 4-bet with like 22 or 44 I forget because I felt it was a pretty good spot to do it (It was something like a bet-sizing tell or something. I think the 3-bet was really small and the button had raised, so the button probably wide...and I felt the 3-bettor was just 3-betting light).

The QQ hand and 93clubs hand UGH. Sadly I cant recall any reads I had.

I was playing with no hud, and the guy didnt really have any traits that stood out... I had reads on other ppl at the tables albeit not great ones. But certain types of players I cant really gain insight on. I feel like the QQ hand was the worst of the three. I tried to think of a combo range on the river it but I was doing it slow...I forget my rationale for the river shove. Its seems bad tho.

And the 93clubs hand, as you can see by the 73 hand Im kinda too keen on setting up river shoves on the turn.

I think the general lesson from the 93cc hand and the 73o hand is that I have to think harder about bluff shoves on polarized spots more. But I dont really have a great "Method" of going about deciding whether or not to pull the trigger (Which is why I should laern game theory). Also hazy on what "Criterion" to consider in these polarized spots.

Anyway I am rambling...YEAH. Fuck!

back now.. by VeGeTTa89, May 13

after being fucking exiled from this site i am now back after months of conditioning and training. anyone gives me shit i'm going to eat them alive. Anyone want to be friends, then i say hello to you and hope to talk some real poker with you. I have learned hard lessons in life.

poker is a deceitful game filled with pain, agony and frustration. It is a LONGTERM game. If your in it for the short term get the fuck out NOW. You will loose all your money and you WILL come back for more. i promise you.

i understand why some of you were the way you were to me. I didn't deserve to be here spouting out of my mouth acting like i knew shit when in fact i knew nothing. and I still know nothing. i am improving every single day and looking to learn even more from some of you.

Poker is a learning process. Stand corrected. You cant always be right. Be yourself. Don't try to impress someone who has been in the game for years and has made a fortune playing this game. And don't pout. You can pout all you want but NO ONE gives a fuck about what you have to say.Be in this shit for yourself. thats the real lesson of life and poker.

Hope to see yall in the forums...

peace

vague helpz by mnj, May 13

having a somewhat hard time adjusting to the .5/1 game

ppl 3 bet somewhat frequently and squeeze quite light as well.
i've made these adjustments
-stop opening AXs ep
-calling somewhat early with 22-88
-3betting 88-JJ almost always to prevent myself from getting 3 bet
-utg range no longer always includes KJs ATs

i guess i'm looking for general feedback or some helpful tips. one situation that did occur today ALOT was me opening ATs-AQs utg and getting 3 bet by button. Do you guys prefer calling here? I have a hard time playing on many flops as we're playing pot control on the few flops we do hit an A and we have to pretty much c/fold on flops we dont hit. I feel like against a wide range calling with suited connectors 89+ is good to defend more flops with?
