i havent really figured this out yet, but i feel this is kind of stupid easy to do. i want a 3 hard drive setup for use with raid5, which boosts performance and data reliablity, but im not sure if my mobo supports it, im sure it supports raid0 and raid1. i have a msi x58M mobo and i want to run 3 drives for speed and reliability. help.

btw this movie is out now on torrents. check it out. been waiting for this.

buy a SSD instead and make monthly backups to your current harddrive as a spare.

bye now

but RAID is totally superior mainly because SSD is very expensive and have short life spans

was thinking ssd too. but raid is more reliable against data loss i heard. speedwise im pretty sure ssds> raid setups but i kinda wanna both reliablity and speed. i might just go ssd if i dont get further info on this.
baal? you know how to set this up? do i just buy 3 hds? then what? lol i dunno what to do next tbh

Making a monthly backup addresses your need for reliability. If the SSD fails you just buy another and restore your backup. SSD is vastly faster than any raid setup ever will be. And configuring the array can be done in a variety of ways. Your motherboard may have hardware raid support and the whole thing can be initiated through bios. Or your mobo may not offer all of this, just the hardware, and thus you can use a software array built through windows itself. Lastly you can buy a specialized addon raid card that plugs into a pci slot and let the card manage the whole thing transparently.

But personally I would rather have 2 drives with 10x the performance than 3 drives with some degree of performance.

bye now
