First blog EVER ! by OnMyWay, January 25

hi,

i´ve never done any blogging so far, but this i think might help me free my mind and also make me think i bit more on stuff i do (poker wise).

Something about my , uhm , pokercareer:

my first poker were a couple of years ago when we played at einar´s house in norway some five card draw for pennys. wasn´t really serious but fun.
Action starded mid 2005 when my brother Jörg told me about some tv shows he had seen, and that he deposited at party having fun playin.

I had a shot at party, playing 10/25 limit, went up and down to the 50 bucks i deposited and cashed out to play everest poker (again a rec. from Jörg).

I´ve played around 200 sng´s 1 table for 11 cents buyin and being succesful kept me interested in poker. (i cashed ~10 bucks from these). after i won ~100 bucks playin 1/2c cash there i cashed again and deposited at stars.....

so still playin there , after a few sessions of 5/10NL cash, i worked it up from 1,75 2 table to the 6,5´s and being a winning player i´ve made a roll of ~1400 until now.

currently i am struggling a bit , breaking even for a couple weeks really seek to improve.
(not to mention the 2.5k NOK i´ve lost during christmas *@"!/"§ASDFHNJKASAWKLNWFKLYS)

Lp has helped my a lot, as did "theory of poker" and "theory and practice" i currently read.

so from here, no more history....

Sifting the internet for humour by legendofxix, January 25

Heres what I found

This is a funny ad for condoms.
I found it kind of comical. Its just a picture.

I found this while rummaging around some Off-Topic areas in a few places I frequent. Those crazy asians.
Crazy Asians make for great comedy.

Im back bitches! by SakiSaki, January 25

Finally running hot again! Destroying the partypoker 100nl for 15ptbb/100 so far. The games are so soft and the cards are falling my way so its all good baby. Im currently just 4-tabling while waiting for my second monitor to arrive, and this allows me to abuse every edge I have over these useless party donks.

I think my pokertracker stats are bugged or something. Over 3400 hands it has me on 38/33/4. Even though Im loosening up quite a bit and its over a very small sample I really dont think it accurate.

Im just going to grind out 1k more then ill move back up to 200nl.

God party, why did I ever leave you?

I gotta move! by DustySwedeDude, January 25

I just learned that non of my two flatmates have seen any star wars movie. They just went from "human" to "sub human less then rat itchy stuff". Also, Pooruser might get some HU-action. If it happends, I know of it in time and someone tells me how to transfer money on partypoker I'd be intressted in making some smallish sidebets.

First attempt at a blog by kantoiki, January 25

Hi, if you don't know me and you probably dont my name's Alan. I'm 183-84cms tall Australian born Chinese, wear glasses short sighted (i'm yet to meet any asian who are actually long sighted, anyone know a factual reason behind this?)
Anyway since its a poker forum i'll try generally to keep my posts poker orientated with the occasional rant/update on my life.
First started poker in year 12, some friends of mine started getting into it and i went along with the "trend" playing home games where we'd all put 1-5 dollars in for a sng.
Luke, aka Goodkarma who is now karma was probably one of the first people i knew who started playing online and it wasn't long till someone discovered the partyfifty promotion.

Needless to say, everyone tried to get multiple accounts me included. I started playing limit, .50/1.00 FR as well as SH and just getting really lucky playing what i then thought was "tight" and did well, getting to 300-400+ on several accounts before a downswing wud hit and i'd panic withdraw.

This lasted for serveral months before i started playing limit games at school, often skipping class (i did it regardless of poker actually ) going to the school library to play against other students. Did quite well in these games but near the end of the year i stopped playing having lost interest in poker and there were more pressing matters at hand, like my year 12 exam....

So there was my first taste of poker and it wasn't until karma convinced me to start to play again (he'd apparently kept right on playing and had done alright in the process *cough* luckbox *cough*) that i touched online poker with a serious intent to learn and beat the game.
So on Feb/March 2006 i got back into it grinding away at 10nl on party constantly annoying Luke with retarded questions and bitching about my bad beats.

Anyway, since then till december 2006 i played sporadically, due to work, social life as well as downswings causing me to take breaks from poker. Oh, and in the process also got Jonno aka pokerdoc to start up playing as well who's bitching and moaning made me realise how annoying i must have been for those around me..

....this is dragging on, cbf typing so much...soo
starting jan 2007 trying to play seriously and steadily.
So far its going badly, down about 15 buyins but thats because i honestly suck and have massive leaks in my game after not playing for a while.
but..... with pots like these http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/136912
hopefully i'll be back on my feet soon eh? and also rakeback to look forward to wooot.
In ending my first post which will most likely be the longest i'll end up posting apologise for it and i'll try keep it short from now on

Drunk by lil.sis, January 25

I'm drunk as hell adn dont have anytihg to say really but oh well fuck it its my blog and drunk blogging is ok if it needs to be done lolz m i rite? I am taking a break form poker right now because I need to learn how to enjoy life outside of the context of pokre and it ihink its really working well so far. I've been spending a lot of time with my friends and it has been great. Hopefully when I start playing again in February I will reap the benefits of this hiatus. There was this chick at the pub tonight that was pretty cute and I thought about asking her to come home with me not becasue she was good looking necessarily but because I really liked her attitude, she was funny and appreciated a good laugh, something which a lot of bitches these days don't do, which is sad, I am sorry to report.

I am listening to War by Joe Satriani and it is amazing what a great musician.

anyway fuck it im going to sleep and i hope nobody reads this but at the same time I hope somebody does, not like you guys give a shit

PEACE

Woot.... did it finally by YoMeR, January 25

So I finally reached my Goal of being rolled for NL100 today. A bit ahead of schedule as i was going to try and reach it by end of next week. But good fortunes good i guess. I took down the $20 180 man sng for $1080 which was a nice boost in my bankroll.

I went off to a nice start in the tourny with this hand

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/136848

Then a few hours later I was Chip leader after a few bad beats, sucking out, tosses, and trapping hoes.

The turning point came in the tourny with this hand. We have some history.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/136894

Nico was a fairly decent tricky player.

From flop call i put him on K9/A9 almost instantly.

the turn gave me the open ender and he flat called yet again as he probably put me on a busted hand or under pair.

The river all in really confused me as his other actions weren't really consistant at all. He definately bet like the K helped him. I put him on K9 or air. But I didn't think K9 would just push, as previous hands he value bet much smaller with hands like AA. So it leaned towards a call and i was right. That made me the massive chip leader. A cool thing to add was that i was listening to the Final Fantasy soundtrack while playing and right when i took down this pot the victory theme played. Made me real happy ;D

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/136903

I came into the heads up as a 4:1 chip lead but fucked up horribly leaving us an even match. I started to up the agression by 3 betting a wider range. I guess he was on some weird monkey rebluff and let me take down the tourny without too much trouble.

GG.

A thing to note tho is that the NL50 tables became surprising agressive. People started to 3 bet much lighter. Call 3 bets light, even float, and call 4 bet light too. The upped agression had me to adjust my game a bit more. And 3 bet a bit tighter and bet strong with strong hands as they never believe you in the Button raises, or blind vs blind battles anymore.

Well time to start crackin on NL100 now.

Current roll $2,988.04 Since Jan 08 2007.

Starting roll: $110.00

Session by Rush, January 24

Well I finally got off my lazy ass and played some poker.

I had been running really bad so I stopped playing for a few days. Started with around $240

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 1387 hands and saw flop:
- 103 out of 181 times while in big blind (56%)
- 17 out of 177 times while in small blind (9%)
- 77 out of 1029 times in other positions (7%)
- a total of 197 out of 1387 (14%)
Pots won at showdown - 26 of 42 (61%)
Pots won without showdown - 62

Ended with around $280 so that was pretty good. Just hope to be back to NL25 as soon as possible.

Peace Niggas

P.S. - Yomer is a fat homo

Ride the rollercoaster... by RAHZero, January 24

As terrible as yesterday was, tonight was that good. For the first 300 or so hands, I was unstoppable. It's an awesome feeling to go on a huge rush, and absolutely own people left and right. I had a guy bluff me with a busted draw on the river not once, but twice within one orbit. I doubled up with aces when some guy called my PF reraise with KJs and pushed on the KxxJ board (he probably should have noticed that x and x paired the board). It seemed I had a monster every other hand, and they were getting paid off at an excellent clip.

Then the inevitable downswing came. Obviously, when you're running at 60+ PTBB/100 over a small sample, things are going to cool off, but this was night and day. I couldn't hit a hand, my c-bets were getting called or raised, and any hands I did pick up were getting no action. I thought about just calling it a day and taking my ~2 buy-ins profit, not a bad recovery from the disaster that was last night. But I played a few more orbits, hit one monster hand (called a raise with 77, SB minraises, initial raiser calls, I call, and the T75 flop is all she wrote for the SB's AA). Final totals were +$379.00 over 1,192 hands.

The Defect by Turtle, January 24

I live as a failed experiment, a defect within society. To justify my claim, you need to understand what people were made to do. A tool is defective when it is blunt and can not fulfill it's purpose. Thus, a person is defective when it can not fulfill it's purpose. There is no universal purpose for people, a person defines it's own purpose. Your belief in what your purpose is, is neither right nor wrong. Just as my belief in what my purpose is, is equally as right, and equally as wrong; People are meant to live for each other. They are meant to build each other up and love each other in order to make the best of their own lives.
There are those who easily fulfill this purpose, for the only reason in that fate determined that this person would live easily. Just as some cows produce fresher milk than others.
I can't escape the cold truth of this world: "Survival of the fittest." If you were born beautiful, charismatic, and lovable, you thrive. If you were born ugly, socially inept, and unlovable, you die.
None the less, I will be a survivor, because of hope. Hope that one day...

I will learn to thrive

Funny finds of the day by legendofxix, January 24

Theres much controversy around the use of the electronic voting machines in the US. There were many many problems pointed out due to unsecure software, easily hackable machines. However, all these hacks were done in a test environment where the company supplied a machine.
Well they really screwed up this time!
Diebold placed a a real, actual picture of their master key, which opens all Diebold voting machines, on their website.
They felt people couldn't make a duplicate with just the picture. They were wrong.
Diebold has problems. Video as well

I found this thing quite funny. Most should know about the Rosie O'Donnel & Trump slugfest.
Rosies First Contact

Since the image didn't work in my previous post (massive bandwith use I guess) I'll rehost it on photobucket. Its not like that many people visit my blog anyways so that won't be a problem.
This was the picture of Microsoft Vista getting owned before it was released to stores.

Variance is a biatch... by RAHZero, January 24

OK, so I put in my first session at NL 100 last night after passing the 3k BR mark, and proceeded to get raped. Hard. And repeatedly.

I ran terribly, played like ass, and ended up down 4 buy-ins in a little over 1700 hands. Some fun hands:

AK on an A42 flop vs. a complete maniac, obviously he has A2 FTW.

AQ vs. AA on a Q73 flop against another maniac, this guy was a 60/20/4 who thought middle pair was the nuts.

AJ vs. a calling station, who calls a PFR with Q5s, calls pot-sized bets on the flop and turn with a naked flush draw, and of course gets there on the river.

Those were the rough hands, also had a lot of stupid stuff like AK < shorty's 63o (63o!) AIPF for like $15. Lost a ton of medium sized pots like that.

Made one really dumb move, a check-raise bluff on the turn followed by a bluff shove on the river. Looking back, it's pretty frigging obvious that villain had a monster. My hand had some show down value, so I could have easily called the smallish turn bet and check-folded the river, but nope, I decided to turn my hand into a bluff and then shove the river after he called my turn raise.

I also missed out on one huge pot, had JJ in a raised multiway pot, there's a RR to $23 from the blinds (initial raise was to $4.50). I think for a while and fold (was close, probably should have called with odds since another player in between called, and definitely would have if I knew the player behind me would call as well). Obviously, the flop comes J76r and the first cold-caller shoves in his last $45 on the flop.

So yeah, my first day at NL 100 was horrid. Games were also pretty bad at UB, a lot of competent players suprisingly at this limit. 2 players with VPIPs of 35+ was rare, and of course when I got them, they sucked out or coolered me. Tonight it's back to the grind, so hopefully my second night at NL 100 will be beter than the first.

Home sweet home by SakiSaki, January 24

I moved back to partypoker a couple of days back, the lovely place where my poker adventure started. Im currently grinding out 100nl trying to get my br back on track. Still not running very good but its fine. Its hard to loose money even running bad in these games.

Party is still so crazy soft, even after the americans all left. Im amazed, its like playing 25nl or something. The nature of the games has forced me to nit up a bit, I havent saved any pokertracker stats but i believe im alot nittier here than on FTP.

I have ordered a second monitor so that will be arriving in a couple of days which will be really sweet. 8-tabling and seeing all the tables will be a new experience for me

Btw, wtf happened to partypokers fppstore? They used to have all sorts of shit. Now they only have gift certificates and "redem your points for cash"(this at a fucking joke rate)

Anyways, Im hoping to be able to put in some good poker hours the following days, might be a problem since I have an exam on monday. God Im so sick of school T_T

First Decent Session at 10NL by tae-g, January 24

I had my first good session at 10NL today. I only played for about 45 min 6-tabling 6max and Im up a little over two buyins. CR videos are really paying off, and its nice to see some results.

Only had 2 tough hands that session...ran into AA with KK and ran into a set when i flopped aces and kings.

I finally watched Rounders today for the first time too. I thought it was pretty cool. Im gonna take a few hours off for now to enjoy my marginal success and to study some CR videos.

Micro-stakes homegame! by DustySwedeDude, January 24

Ok, so me and some friends decided to have a live cash game. This was actually my first live cash game. We were 5 more or less sexy dudes who in various degrees plays poker. The lineup was as follows:

Me

Dannyboy, some dude who plays NL200, is really nice and likes to put people on hands. He can make some moves and is overall solid.

Some friend of Dannyboy who sucked, is kinda stupid and easy money.

HuggyBear, a friend of mine who’s really a good friend and someone I like to spend time with. It’d be worth to play with him even if I wasn’t making money out of it. He’s probably a slight winner on NL50, so he’s decent enough.

A friend of me and Huggybear, Simon, who’s basicly a rich kid who is still a good guy.

The blinds was 1/2 SEK, and 7 SEK = 1 USD, so it was something like a NL30 Game. I and Danny bought in for 200 bb (400 sek) and the others for around 100 bb. The game started out kinda slow, but after like 20 hands or so I pick up AKo in the sb and Simon raises and I reraise. Dannyboy flat calls my reraise and Simon folds. The flop is Q93 rainbow and I bet out, Simon calls. The turn is a brick and I check, be bets weak and I call. River is another brick and I figures that he probably puts me on an overpair now so I fire allin which is about the size of the pot and expect him to fold anything but a set (there wasn’t any resonable 2 pair hands he could have). He thinks for a long time and folds, I show my A-high and I feel like I’ve already won. A few hands later he floats me 2 streets and gets me of the monsterhand T-high with 5 high. I feel really down.

Next intressting hand is between me and him again. He calls utg, Simon completes the sb and I check 93o from the bb. Flop is 973 rainbow. Simon raises, I call with the intention to check/raise turn but unfortunatly Dannyboy reraises strong. Simon folds and I think for a while and decides to call since he really could have anything. The turn brings another 7 and now I feel that I’m behind. I don’t think he’d have 77 since quads are kinda unlikely. I have a 9 and a 3 so sets are unlikely too. The problem is that he could have 97 but I feel that it’s more likely that he has something like an OESD or A9. I check, he bets really strong and I push allin for like 100bb more. He thinks for a while and folds, I show my hand again and now I can tell that he’s not very happy with me. He says that it was a great play and whatnot and I feel really good. We play some more and I end up stacking him with Queens vs a OESD on a T9rag flop where he tilted kinda hard. I end the evening up about 600 SEK, that’s like 40 USD or something which feels kinda patetic for an evening of poker, but since it’s like 3 100bb buy-ins I guess I can’t really say anthing than that it was really good.

Dannyboy and the stupid one was down a lot. Huggybear was down a little and Simon won a few 100 SEK.
