| | Colombo218 is Sick, and I Suck Again. by JonnyCosMo, May 12
Decide for yourself... I just dont know whats going on anymore. I can't seem to get myself a winning day. I'm just going to throw hands out in this blog post. Just tell me what you think of them.
Good Hands:
+$194 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191469 - Against Colombo218. I can't justify doing this vs anyone else at NL200, but this guy is just so lagtardedly bad.
+179 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191472 - Again this is against Colombo218, and me finally getting lucky. So sick how I get coolered in these spots. River one time for me!
+201 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191474 - Fast played a set and it worked out vs an overpair donk.
+200 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191476 - This is the one hand I think I dont like how I played. The opponent seems to be aggressive and capable of making moves thou. I dont know... terrible turn card thou. Seemed like a fishy call by me.
+200 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191477 - Ez set up for me vs an aggro regular.
+154 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191478 - I think kind of standard... Meh.
+186 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191479 - Top Pair Top Kicker vs a total fish.
+176 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191480 - Top two held vs a big combo draw.
And now, the Bad Hands:
-$220 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191482 - Set over set, guy was pretty solid thou so... foldable? Maybe? I tank'd this for a good minute before I shoved.
-$118 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191487 - This is just totally brain damaged by the fish.
-$170 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191490 - Overpair fails to hold vs flush draw.
-$174 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191491 - So I'm pretty sure this is a cooler... Ridiculous the spots I get into.
-$186 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191494 - Maybe another set up? Does anyone get away from this?
-$137 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191495 - Aces gets cracked all-in on the flop. Fun.
-$258 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191498 - I just want to know how everyone likes the play of this hand. This is pretty disgusting.
-$250 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191500 - Against carrotsnake and his infinite amounts of luck.
-$198 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191502 - Got screwed into a squeeze as one of the players flatted Aces to a single raise.
-$178 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/191503 - Aces against the super fish. Just so sick
Ok that's about it... only down $550 today though over 4200 hands. It got pretty sick towards the end of the session thou... On another note... Colombo218 is sick. For being one of the biggest donating fish on PokerStars' NL200 right now, he's sure got some balls.

Now I bet you are mighty curious as to how I dropped like that at the end huh?
The answer is, Aces.
Three times.
Within 2 minutes.
Busted by a set, a straight and a flush.
Fuck.
Good game me.
The numbers are off tho, dunno why.
Only down 80$, hm, maybe I cleared more of my deposit bonus than I thought -_- Dunno.
UPDATE:
Open ended straight flush draw vs ace king flush draw, flush hit, straight didn't, allin on flop, bohoo
JJ vs QQ vs same guy. Really really awkward spot but yeah, boooo

| | Short 2 1/2 session by Nojo, May 12
Its supposed to say Short 2 1/2 Hour Session
http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/6488/may12ia2.gif
Started it out how i usually do play tight and aggressive but i felt a little off(i was getting hit by larger hands) so i tightened it up and gradually won back the money plus some. I felt it was a slow session even tho i 9 tabled it. I feel like i could be getting more per hour. $1 and some change just feels too nitty.
Will work on it.
Also just got a new Samsung 22" Monitor
http://www.circuitcity.com/IMAGE/product/detail/sam/EC.SAM.226BW.JPG
Its pretty pimp, and a good upgrade from a 17" which just burnt out on me! I feel i can 9 tabled really easy on it, possibly take it up to 12 who knows.

| | Restarting and a RL bad beat :) by PplusAD, May 12
Okay
So i am trying to rebuild my Poker bankroll after i lost most of my money at FullTilts sngs due to incredible sick bad luck combined with underrolled playing ( 12buy ins for SNG ) ...
this is what happend :
I became bored of cashgame going breakeven for about 1 month and so started to play SNGS again.
big mistake cause i lost allmost all my monez.
I decided that Full tilt Poker is not the best place for SNGS since the average skill level at low/midstake SNGS ( 6,50 $ turbo) is alot higher than at most other sites.
I am not that good at SNGS but however it is hell a fun to me and i just cant imagine not playing some small stake SNGS every now and then.
SO today i split my bankroll into a cashgame and a SNG bankroll.
60$ to Everest Poker for building up a SNG roll playing occasionally 2,50+25 $
I d bee satisfied with not making negative profit at all just having some fun.
But i am positive i ll build it up to 500$ till the end of the year.
And a 160$ BR at Full Tilt for NL10 cashgame 5 tabling.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Not so funny thing was a real life bad beat that happend to me Yesterday when i was at a super cool open air birthday Party.
Some idiots stole my wallet ...
I still dont know how this could happen without me noticing
the actual theft. ( okay i was totally drunk but >-<)
I dindt notice it for a long time since all drinks were for free.
When i made myself ready to leave the party 3am i noticed that i am actually missing my wallet ...
150 € ( 210 $ ) my driving license , all my keys, my identity card, my university pass .....
Wow that sucked so hard.
Fortunately i found a nice girl who allowed me to spend the night with her at her room .
Next day i got a phone call from my father that someone called him that his kids found a wallet with lots of important stuff with my adreess in it.
Jeha i got my wallet back.
But of course without the 150€ .....
luckily the thiefs dindt have any interest in my ID cards, Keys and other important stuff .. they just took the money.
I assume the thiefs were some kids/punks cause otherwise they d taken at least my money card ???

| | Still Struggling :( by JonnyCosMo, May 12
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE YOU READ THIS BLOG POST: I'm going to complain. I only lost $125 today, but I'm still going to complain. If you dont like someone that complains about losing only $125, then just stop reading now. For those that are going to continue reading, prepare accordingly-->
http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/Nightmare2.jpg
Today's Graph @ NL200
So I played 3800 hands today after completely taking yesterday off. I just needed to rest my brain yesterday. Also, I woke up this morning and read about the 10 billionth hand promo going on by PokerStars and realized that there was now a realistic chance that I could make my last 8k VPP's before the Supernova freeroll tomorrow morning. Well that hope went out the window pretty quickly after the continue BS that I was playing through.
Overall, I had some excellent tables, the fish were just sooo freaking bad. Friday + the new promo has brought out some juicy cash games. Allow me to show you-->
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190951 - Everything going as planned, until the river...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190953 - I didn't even make it to the river before things went bad here...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190954 - Hey he had outs, he probably was a favorite.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190955 - Maybe this was bad table selection? This guy is too good for me...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190956 - Switch the turn and river for me on this hand. Tease me some more. I can take it.
To top this off, I had sooo many hands where I made a value bet and was called and beat. I'm still in shock as to how many times I was out kicked or schooled by some guy playing his hand super passively.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190958 - Maybe I played this too fast?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190960 - Mind fuck yo...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190961 - Valuebet and outkicked vs FGators26, maybe made it too large on river.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190962 - Valuebet and again outkicked vs el_pedrin0. What in the world...
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190963 - Valuebet and again outkicked vs some random passive donkey who can't seem to play a single hand correctly to begin with.
At the end of my session I just lost it for about a minute and a half and proceeded to tilt off two buyins in the following ways:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190965 - Light stack off vs FGators26 which sometimes is good but I shouldn't have been in the hand to begin with.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/190967 - Against the retarded donkey Doakie88 that open shoved vs me earlier. This hand was like 2 hands after that hand I posted above.
I can admit those two hands were totally uncharacteristic mistakes that I almost never do, but the beats finally just got to me mentally and I lost it for a moment. Pretty costly but in the long run it's just a learning expierence. Technically without those two last hands I should have been up on the day. But I can't take them back now. Anyways, tomorrow I'm going to be playing loads and will probably be Supernova by tomorrow night. Wish me luck! I need it...badly.

| | Passing a barrier! by Verbloten, May 12
Hi Guys,
I was going to post this earlier in the week - but didn't get around to it - then i fell short of my barrier again! But today i got back over.
I finally hit the 3K mark! ahaha what a huge barrier that has been. Hopefully i can stay above it and stick to 50NL.
EDIT: Wanted to mention my lowest BR was 13 dollars and i haven't deposited since it was 13. So i am quite proud of this - even though the progress has been incredibly slow!
I see heaps of comments about 50NL being a terrible limit and that people should skip it and go str8 to 100NL. I tell ya what i am so tempted! I hate 50NL. They are massive nits that put me on tilt.
I got to 3080 earlier in the week and now i am on about 3030.
Btw i play on Interpoker. They offer monthly reload bonus' plus 30% rakeback. The only problem is not many tables. I can easily play 4+ tables of 6 max 50++ but there is very rarely a FR table of 50NL. So this is a drawback. I have "reloaded" for bonus all my money from other sites over the last 2 months. So this will be my last bonus to clear. Then I think i might move back to FTP for a while - i seriously think that site is rigged but at least i can find a table that i want to play.
I might put some on pokerstars for the 150 bonus too (i have 150 on there at the moment).
Anyway - i'm off for a chinese (beat) birthday dinner with my wifes family. So have a good one kiddies.
EDIT: Oh and btw - i bought Dauts FR video from cardrunners last night - very good video. I wish i could think on that level (consistently and ALL THE TIME)

| | About today by tloapc, May 11
I decided today I'm going to start up keeping this blog a little bit more than just some of the stupid stuff I do. Especially since/while I am moving.
For any who are interested, since I have been out of the Army, I have lived mainly in good ol Houston Texas. This however is about to change very shortly. I am currently in the process of moving to Washington DC! So if any of you know any good stuff to know about that area (especially poker related) please hook me up!
Also, if anyone here would like to add me to their messenger to talk poker or what not, I am tloapc at all of them, AIM, MSN, and YM.
So today I woke up and decided to actually not play poker, do some non poker stuff for a little bit. Help get my mind away from work some to keep things in perspective, you know, keep it healthy.
So I watched the new Bleach again, which rocked but I hate being all caught up and having to wait a week for each new episode to come out! Especially since it started getting good again. I also watched Death Note 29 and 30, which were also good and now has me impatiently waiting for 31.
While surfing, I ran into this video, which some might find interesting.
Baby vs Cobra
So then I got bored of surfing, and decided to play a game of chess. Heres the game:
Fri May 11, 14:11 PDT 2007
Unrated standard match, initial time: 35 minutes, increment: 0 seconds.

{Black resigns} 1-0
A few things I quickly realized when playing this game.
A) It became quickly obvious to me in my play that I have not played an actual game in years.
B) I could totally tell in my game that I play poker now
C) I got very lucky in this game, Villain made a major mistake and I was able to capitalize on it and not let go - which to me can be one of the hardest things to do in chess vs a good stubborn opponent - win a won game
I had a ton of fun though playing this game though. I had forgotten how much fun it was to battle it out over the board. It was very refreshing, and I am going to have to do this more often.
I'd post more, and I like I said, I will start to now, but my beautiful gf is off of work, and I'm gonna see how she's doin. L8r~

Live 1/2/5 game, I have $400 on the table and villains cover. It's a $10 straddle and $20 re-straddle situation (lol live games), so an open raise is going to be to at least $50. Action. I have kings, and end up all in against AK and QQ. TIME TO TRIPLE UP MITCH!

| | Live Poker by Yugless, May 11
I just spent the past few days in southern California and I've fallen in love with live poker. I've been playing 5/5 NLHE, and the most of the players are painfully bad. I'm making more money per hour at the casino playing 5/5 than i do playing 4 tables of 2/4 and 3/6 online, and i'm making over 5bbs/100 online. I wonder why people who live near casinos even bother with online poker. I guess the mass multi-tablers make more online, and probably get bored playing live.
What's really funny is that these awful players keep trying to teach me how to play. They have no concept of aggressive poker, they just want to see every flop and hope to get lucky. I've run in to a few good poker players but most of them are just gamblers, playing every hand for any raise, like pulling the handle on a slot machine.
Online poker is taxing. I search for fish among the regulars, and i'm soo happy to have 2 loose/passives at my table(FR) . In my live play experience, most of the table is consistently loose/passive.
Live poker is also more fun and social. With all the talk of bots, and the online games continually getting tougher, I've decided to move to California, cash out my online roll and play live poker. I have some family out here and i love the weather and the ocean.
Can anybody give me a reason why this is a bad idea? Do the games get sick tough at 5/10, 10/20? Are live players really as bad as i think they are or have i just run in to bunch of unusually bad ones? If i'm good enough to beat 2/4 FR online am i good enough to beat 5/10, 10/20 live?

| | Cool kids never have the time by Daut, May 10
Went out with my law school buddies tonight cause they just finished their last final and are done with their first year. They were pretty pumped because it's basically the last summer they will ever have to do what they want. When I was sitting there listening to them talk about how it's all downhill after this summer I just felt so lucky. I get to do the thing I enjoy the most for the rest of my life and whatever else I want.
I think im heading home tomorrow. I'll probably spend the next 10 days relaxing, reading, working out, playing some poker, and hanging out with friends. I'm heading to vegas on the 21st to play in the mandalay bay WPT event and prelims, then pretty much every wsop event I can.
I have pretty modest goals for the summer, just want to make at least 1 final table and make an overall profit playing in tournaments at the WSOP. Hopefully all goes well.
Oh by the way, if you havent seen it, i highly suggest renting crank. One of the most awesomely bad movies ive ever seen in my life. Basically this dude gets injected with a Chinese super virus called the Beijing Cocktail, and the only way to extend his life is to keep his adrenaline levels high, so basically its just an awesome excuse to work in gratuitous action scenes.
One spoiler, jason statham gets to bang his girlfriend in public, and during it, screams I FEEL ALIVE. After all he needs to keep his adrenaline going, so what better way to do it than exhibitional coitus. There are a whole bunch of crazy asian people watching it and going bonkers. It's an awesome scene in an awesome movie. I'd draw a picture but I just cant do it justice.

| | From 2p2 to LP [First] by PanoRaMa, May 10
Hi everyone (though I doubt not many will read this)
I post regularly at TL.net as PanoRaMa. I used to go to this site often, in fact I'm probably within the first couple hundred registered on this site? Regardless, I stopped coming when I realized the sad fact that I was the only fixed limit player here. I was playing 2/4 and 3/6 limit at the time, then moved onto 2p2 where I found a plethora of information.
For the next year and a half, I have followed the teachings of 2p2 rigorously. After the legislation, I switched to NL and started trying to accumulate as much info as I could. I don't post that much, but I ate up all the threads, realized what advice was good, what was not, etc. BBV is probably the greatest thing I've ever come across in my life, etc.
A few weeks ago, I came to the understanding that the style of play advocated by many "winning" posters in the small stakes forums and whatnot was indeed exploitable. To be honest, my play is pretty nitty and weak/tight. I can crush those who are inferior to me at my stakes (100nl), but there's a reason why it's been months and I've only progressed to 100nl. There are extremely skilled players at 2p2 though, but there's also a reason why they're at the higher stakes and no longer at the small stakes - they've surpassed the limitations of the 2p2 nit standards.
Which led me back here. Names I've recognized from a WHILE ago are now successful winners at high stakes. It's funny to see that the lives of some of these posters have been completely changed, all as a result of learning via LP.net (though I guess some may go to 2p2 as well).
Apparently, there's something you guys are doing right. I think a lot of people see 2p2 as the end-all when it comes to good poker advice, which I now see as an untruth. My goal now is to be able to assimilate the best information from both sites. I do have to admit that LP.net is a bit more warm and familiar than 2p2 as well.
So here I am. My aim is to be at 200nl at least by the end of summer. I hope to contribute a lot of info at least to the Medium Stakes forum for the time being, and I'm glad to be back

| | busy as a lesbian in a hardware store by rnbsalsa88, May 10
Hey guys, I've been pretty busy and haven't really felt like blogging recently.
Poker has been going awesome. I got 5th in the 215 rebuy the other day for $10,200. I thought the hand that I busted on was pretty interesting.
Blinds 6K/12K with antes pot is 20K.
I have 100K in chips, apestyles has 90K, br savage has 280K, tourney c/l donk has 760K, and tightwad in the bb has 90K.
I have been pretty tight at the table, made a couple plays and a couple steals but for the most part been holding onto my stack, letting smaller stacks bust. Now the payscale is such that 5th gets around 10,200 4th 13,400, 3rd 19,800, 2nd 28,000, 1st 47,000. So the pay jumps pretty significantly in top 3 vs 4th/5th. So I'm in third place, but I'm essentially tied for last with the blinds coming around.
One thing that had been preventing me from playing more aggressively was this tightwad kept folding sb vs. bb to me, or he'd call from the sb and fold to a push. So he'd basically been giving me free chips to that point, but now the blinds are so big that I think even he would understand that pushing/ folding was the way to go.
I pick up 53 utg and shove. Here's my logic: Apestyles can't call me without a real hand, br savage is really tight and I don't think he'd view my push as desperation because I still have enough to steal with after blinds run through me. The donkey in the sb was a bit worrisome, but he wasn't totally braindead and I'm pretty sure he would realize how tight I'd be playing, and the big blind... well he was tightwad . So I was shoving 100K chips to win 20K.
Because I was utg they probably assume my pushing range is like any pair/ a8+/ KJ+, thats what I'd assume anyways
Their calling ranges would be pretty tight, I'd assume AQ/77+ so I think I'm definitely taking this pot down enough pre-flop to merit the push. Besides I can always suck out...
Ape insta calls AK and breaks my head. Oh wells.
I've been playing a lot of 5/10 recently with good success. I really like the 4/8 deepstacked game on ftp... it seems like a lot of the people that play it don't play well deep stacked. There are some good regulars but as long as you can outplay em you're golden. We have some exciting guest videos on the way Seal and Straate are both making videos for us- I'm excited .
