Finally getting the hang of controlling myself. Managed to get my bankroll up to 6.4k but cashed out 900 for Holiday gifts! Can't wait till this semester is over. I'm going to enjoy this holiday season, I actually have money to buy gifts =). Happy Thanksgiving to anybody who reads this!

SEAL CLUBBING. by WilsWils, November 22

I've become far too emo and moody over poker. I think i've been influenced by emo LP posts about bad beats and variance, and have been using that as too large of an excuse for my own pitfalls. I've realized that i've developed a few leaks that i havent been able to fix on my own, so i have a couple solid 200NL friends to sweat me and tell me what i can fix on vent!

Sat down for another hour today, back to my roots - 25nl FR, and clubbed a bunch of seals for a 4BI payday. Nothing flashy, just hard value betting, and vbetting thinly. Was also able to avoid QQ overpair vs a set, and top 2 vs a set (!). Glad i dodged those.

Attitude is everything, i lost that positive outlook. So now im back on that path, and am going to take everything in stride and refuse to complain ever (unless its from an objective pov!). And if i ever get frustrated, i'll look back at this blog post and let the follow picture mellow me out.

http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d25/wilswils57/ASD.jpg

Hopefully more clubbing will occur tommorow! Fellow lpers feel free to use the picture to unstress you as well.

edit:

A CONCERNED LP POSTER HAS SENT ME A INTRESTING PM. LET ME REITERATE THAT THE PICTURE IS FROM SEAL CLUBBING IN CANADA, WHICH IS DONE SEASONALLY TO KEEP POPULATION NUMBERS DOWN IN ORDER TO KEEP OVERFEEDING AND BREEDING UNDER CONTROL. IT WILL BE OK. THEY ARENT CLUBBING FOR THE FUN OF IT.

the cute fully black ones are better :<

New User by Moffa, November 22

Hi all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I thought that I might create a blog to interact with some fellow poker players. I'll use this first blog entry to introduce myself and let you guys know some things about me.

I started playing poker for the first time back in early June. I'd always just played games like go fish and war every time I got a deck of cards while everybody else would play Texas Hold'em. Curiosity got the best of me and I tried it out and realized I absolutely love this game. The simplicity of the game on the surface and the complexity of how the game is played is nothing short of awesome. I find myself doing nothing but watching poker on T.V., high stakes on stars and Full Tilt, and lurking on this website.
(I'm addicted to this site btw.)

I depostited a couple dollars on stars, just kind of messing around and of course knowing nothing about poker I lost it all. I haven't really had longterm success, perhaps because I started out on stars? At any rate, I've learned a lot since reading on this site and realize I need a new approach to how I play and better management on my BR. I have no idea on how to use PT so that's something I need to change.

I'm only 19 and know I have a long way to go but I hope that someday I can join the ranks of the non-micro stakes LPers out there and I can contribute in some way to this site.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this and I respect everybody on this forum. I look forward to interacting with you great people in the future. Next post won't be this long I swear lol.

When will it end? by ShaunR, November 22

I guess I've decided ~18 buyins is big enough of a downswing that I have to return to NL100. I really don't understand how it is possible for all of the setup coolers and sick beats to happen to me night after night. At what point does the probability of me spontaneously combusting overpass it?

Let's take a look at a few hands.

Beats:

- For the biggest one (2.5 buyins) see my last blog.
- 2:1 favorite is no good for me in a big pot.
- Obvious bluff from a spewtard. No problem hitting the 2 outer on the river.
- Yea, same as the above hand basically.
- This guy is one of the lightest 3 betters I've played against. 10s are a monster against his 3 bets (he has an overpair maybe 5% of the time). Owned by 9s anyways.
- INSTANT LIFE TILT every time I see this hand.

Coolers:

- Quite a few KK vs AA. Standard so won't bother posting. I had about 4x as many KK vs AA as the other way around. And the ones that were, were mostly against short stacks.

Here's a couple of hands against an 86% vpip aggro. First a little background information on how he was playing at the table nearly every hand. Here's a hand where I get bluffed out. Keep in mind that in most hands, king high is actually good against him:

With that in mind, the following two coolers take place:

- Set over Set
- Destroyed by 73o At least I cut my losses since I know 3 is in his range (along with complete air obviously).
- The number of times people flopped a set on me is UNREAL. 1 in 8 my ass.

Overpairs suck ass?

http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/3636/overpairskp3.jpg

Maybe I'm overplaying a lot of those, but most were reraised pots, and I don't mess around when i reraise AA/KK. Usually 4x their raise. Pretty sure I'm not giving them odds to set mine on me, but obvious that doesnt stop them anyways.

Here's the graph. 20 buyins, 10k hands.

http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/9682/nl200yb8.jpg

Fortunately bonuses still kept me afloat in NL200 and I'm still up $2300 on the month from NL 100 : But I'm really demoralized at running so bad. It's so frustrating losing in 5 days what I spent the previous 2 weeks building up.

Almost back to 8k by Oddeye, November 21

Had an acceptable run without too many sick beats and managed to win a big flip that was a really hard call. One thing I've noticed is that I play surprisingly tighter than what I played before at NL200 and IMO it works much better. I guess I will gradually try to loosen up once regular have a good read on me once again, for now I don't see much of a use to do that. Objective is 10k and cash out and to come back on a fishy site(not like ub wasn't) like prima or rednines, I'm just fed up of UB and I'm pretty sure the software hypnotize me and force me to play bad. Good luck and I hope mine continues

wow. by WilsWils, November 21

i cannot handle the terribility of a mindfuck that is 6max 50 and 25nl.

I ended up getting my br to around 900$, then having it get shit on by a fuckload of messed up hands.

The mix of fucking horrible players / aggrotards that make plays that just make your mouth drop is absolutely unreal. It is extremely difficult to put people on a range of hands when they 3bet you with 39s and spike 2pair vs AA or whatnot. People 3 betting with 33 from the SB, spiking a set and leading into my TPTK, etc..extremely, extremely frustrating in 100bb situations. Its like, i feel as if i can definetly beat this limit. Just a shitload of messed up plays / setups that totally destroy my confidence in my own ability. I've even dropped down from 6 tables to 4 to focus even harder on reading players, but even then i still find that hard to do in some cases with the mix of regs + fishies...

I'm kinda speechless at the moment . my br is currently at 400$ after getting smashed in several weird cooler pots. I keep reviewing them to think if i could have gotten away, and its insanely diffucult given the relative skill level of my opponents , their playing style, and the given buyin limit (100 bb) - it feels as if when i lay it down i had the best hand, but when i put the rest in im behind...variance + frustration = help

This last hand is against a guy who was very liberal with raising with draws, figure 2P is good here and fairly ahead of most of the things i could put him on (my image at this table was quite hyper-aggressive as well) lo and behold he actually has a hand when i have one , but at least i wasnt drawing dead -_-...

Anyways, dropped about 4 BI's at 50nl 6max to hands like the above, and then another 6 @ 25NL with hands that i dont think were able to get away from.... i.e

1 hand, villian is 3 betting me constantly after having picked up that i was raising 3x every orbit (was trying to build a aggro image cheap to get paid). I finally realize that he is also 3 betting me with dogshit half the time, so after he 3bets me for the 3rd time in a row, i flat with a mid-strong suited ace. Flop my TPTK, and C/R his cbet, he shoves for like 20bb more and he tables a set

I'm really, really trying to figure out what big leaks i have, because im humble enough to realize i've played about 40k hands at around the 25nl level and still havent grinded up to 1000 br yet. I'm reviewing my hands everytime, and yea i do spot a few leaks that i HAVE fixed (which were betting too light for value, playing draws too strong/weak depending on opponents , and not front betting my strong hands enough), but , as im sure that most low stakes LPer's can agree, it's horrible frustrating when you have this whole gameplan and read on a certain limit and its general populous of players, and there will always be the random retard who pulls an outrageous bluff , that to your experience , is a line that is strong as hell (for e.g he c/c's your flop cbet, then c/c the turn, then front bets the river for 2x the pot(!) ) - You know, plays that make you sit at your computer and go, what the fuck is he trying to represent here?

I know i'm a good player and i can beat these stakes and get up to around 100nl which is where i was before, but god it's frustrating getting pummeled on the roller coaster ride that is grinding micro limits...this has been a crazy month. I'm ALOT more comfortable @ 6max than i am at FR, simply because i feel like im in far more control of the majority of the tables i play, since many of the fish cannot grasp the concept of 3betting with a wider range not only for image, but to build future value..

ugh im just kinda emo i guess, which i shouldnt be since it is in essence just a game (Still, -6BI days in <450 hands is craziness)

rant over

good mouse for 70bucks but what I don't understand is that I can't feel almost any diffrence between this and a lets say copperhead or even a 1000dpi mouse. It looks cool though!

30K hands dowswing :-( by Cro)Deadman, November 21

God it feels like shit seriously,I'm just unable to run good recently (well for a month now). Its really frustrating me I don't know what to do...

I'm not playing bad,I even revised my game and fixed some leaks, today found some more but its nothing major.

Today I had 22% winnings at showdowns after 60 showdowns in 1k hands its just so sick I've been getting riverd all day long and its really not fun,in my first three days on Stars I've gotten 600$ up to 685$ and then BAM,drop in this 1k hands to 610$,and I wont even mention noiq poker I'll just give u the PT stats.

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/7586/ptstatshb8.png

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/1465/ptstats2mp7.png

I'm also open to new ideas, teaching propositions (which I unfortunately cannot afford myself) and so on.

Utterly clueless what to do.

another i run like shit blogpost by Baal, November 21

arghhhhhhh!!!!!!! 3rd session in a row where i cant win for shit... so frustrating, specially when im overplaying the regulars like Han69 or pilsnKid.

http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/3909/asdfay3.gif

here are some hands:

Double checkraise this biatch, very risky play but goot for image
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319336

I absolute outplayed PilsnKid in this hand, i know he 3 bets AK and is tight so AT is not a big part of his range plus i get to confuse many of his holdings with this line and might induce dumb plays by him as he did... stupid luck:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319386

Just a random fish that got lucky :<

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319387

Huge fish that timebanked on turn before calling with the 2nd nuts, i guess he was counting and counting to see if he had a straight.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319408

Terribly played by luckyhand, if he raises flop he would have put me in a tought decition, i know he is not flatting a set, god these donkeys suck so bad yet they win :<, i liked my AA play here a lot considering ht preflop action is quite small so im not commited a lot nor narrowed down his range much, but as usual good plays get rewarded by a bad beat:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319453

And finally a hand where his line made no sense, he doesnt check turn here with any of the holdings that i think beat me, after several seconds of thinking i called.

Some hands... by Verbloten, November 21

Finished a small 6 max session again just now.

I'm really happy with the end result. I went down about $130 at one point but even though this was a result of a terrible re raise all in with KK on a 89T flop against a 40/25/2 fuckwit - i still didn't tilt in the slightest and just kept trying to play every hand one at a time.

I ended only down about $12. BTW (for Loco) stats for the session were 18/12/5.33

So the good with the bad (would like advice on all hands though if you think it's warranted)

THE BAD
1. donkey (me) can't fold KK but this guy was a serious fucking maniac - i was re raising him every single hand but he just kept calling me and taking pot away from me on the turn

Tilt Control Tilt Control Tilt Control by T8Suited, November 21

After a crappy, losing afternoon session during which I was practising excessive floating, I decided to try to redeem myself tonight.

I was playing well tonight -- relatively tight and aggressive, picking up numerous small/medium pots. Feeling good about my game.

So how does Pokerstars reward me for improved play?

Answer: Run my KK into AA when I was about to go up for a BI. Twice.

After a third significant lost pot I went on tilt and donked off 50BB on two different occasions on a same table.

But at the end I was able to calm down and make it all back for an overall $150 and a meh 4.7 PTBB/100.

Losers:

Winners:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319433 33 Standard stacking with set
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319421 64s This is one special hand that I overplay, but on the other hand it is the 9th winningest hand in my database. Successful representation of a set here?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319419 T8h Yay
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/319423 33 A rather marginal set-hunt spot -- call 12 to win 125 (55 + possibly 70 behind). Plus a slight chance that WCGrider will get involved and lose.

I'm the biggest spewer ever by Kapol, November 21

It's always like this. Almost always. I play decent poker and win some money, and eventually I make a super-hyper-ultra bad play. I don't know why. I know I should fold but I call just to look him up (and maybe win the pot if he's bluffing). I have played on Stars for a few days, and I have played pretty good. Lost a couple of buy-ins stupidly, didn't run too good, yet managed to be up 2ptBB/100 over 10k hands on NL50. The following hand is the peak of my stupidity (the guy was 40/20, but that doesn't justify anything).
Enjoy (and don't ask me why I did call him, I just did)!
