| | I played like a retard yesterday by T8Suited, January 29
Played 2 session on Monday. Didn't have my A-game on either session. Lucky to be up overall.
Afternoon ~800 hands stats missing +$200+
Evening 973 hands 21/14/2.8 -$175
Afternoon. I was doing all kinds of retarded stuff like this:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372589 T9s Thought I could push this nit off his overpair
And this

And this

I was up a bunch only because I stacked this standard TAG Ace Merrill 3 times. Even though I pwned him on this day I still won't want to play with him again:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372603 AQ When he snap-called me PF I thought I was in trouble, but I flopped good.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372605 33 Didn't make me feel glorious, but I am never embarrassed to show down the winning hand
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372608 AA He was extremely fed up with me after I pushed him off with a 4-bet AI PF another hand, not long after the 33 miracle, but here I flopped good already with the goods.
Evening. Had a few run-ins w/ fellow LPer JBalkenede
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372260 AQd Easy fold PF until megafish got involved. Flop was good enough for me to hang myself.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372261 AK Full-o-sheit line, only slightly better than a coin-flip vs 7-high
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372263 AK Probably standard
Two other hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372259 98s Totally butcher this. I checked turn in order to represent a smaller PP testing the waters on the flop, and hope that he would fire again with a big PP

| | Standard by k2o4, January 29
So still playing more hands. Decent session with a few mistakes but not very many, and the biggest loses were definitely coolers. So that's always comforting. But got a handful of situations which I THINK are standard, but I'm not sure. Seeking confirmation!

It's fun playing these 1,000 - 2,000 hand sessions again. I kinda stopped doing this much a while ago cause my brain just couldn't handle it. @ 7 tables it goes pretty fast and I get to do so many more situations. Big problem is that if I get too zoned out I start playing tight. At one point I realized that I was playing like 16/14 and several tables and my loosest table was about 21/19. That's not my norm at all. I think the tables were pretty loose too, which lead to me raising a bit less since I couldn't open as much.
Well, things are still going fine and just gonna keep fighting my way to 10K. I think that at some point along the way I will do an hour 4 tabling NL200 and make a vid to post and ask for advice. Also still need to go through all the hands I played @ NL200 and post the ones I still haven't asked questions on.
That's all for now.... oh hell, might as well put a graph otherwise this will be a super boring post.

| | So I have an interview to be a craps dealer by CrownRoyal, January 29
I have no idea how to play craps, but how sweet would it be to be a craps dealer?
I'm sure they'll rotate me in for blackjack and other shit too. I'm pretty excited about this because I think it's gonna pay pretty decent (maybe $10/h) plus tips. I'm pretty sure the job is basically perfect for my personality and stuff, and I'm almost positive I'll get the job and i'm stoked. The only really bad part is that this casino is ~37 miles away or something.

| | -11 ~BuyinamentS~ by vegable, January 29
Well, I dumped about 11 buyins in 1 day after trying to implement some "thor/roman" moves to my game. To be honest I'm not even that phased about the losses because it was a nice eye opening experience. I'd really like to develope my game further so if any successful 100NL+ players could leave their AIM/MSN info just to chat, that'd be great. At the very least, look through some of these funtastic hands and comment!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372300 How it all begins
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372278 This guy was a nit vs me and me only. I was tilted!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/372282 Vs the same guy. This okay with an overaggro image?

So this -11 buyin thing will probably hit me hard tomorrow morning. I'd like to talk a bit with better players before experimenting any further, so that my BR won't be run into the ground. I'm barely rolled for my stakes now...
On the plus side I ganked some pub geeks on Python today. They were no match for my awesome 120 APM protoss. I gotta say since I've been playing and thinking about poker it has definately transferred over to brood war. I had fun confusing the hell out of those pubbies with aggro rush in one game, fast reaver drop the next, dt rush tech, and out macroing. No screenshots sorry...but here are some 5 star women.

| | ahh, back home by nutshot, January 29
Dear Nits:
Now that i've gotten my cash game experiment out of the way, and taken some time (2-3 weeks) off the MTT grind, I'm ready and revived to destroy all comers again.
Starting tomorrow night, I'll be playing a full MTT slate at night again.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOO

PS: i want to download seasons 1 and 2 of Dexter -- if someone can PM me or just comment and help me out, I'd really appreciate it. I'm totally clueless when it comes to torrents and all that shit.

| | Stress by Pillars, January 29
An important strength of mine, something I've always managed to hold as an advantage over opponents in games, is my ability to detach myself emotionally during high-stress situations and continue to gather and analyze information and then execute at a high level of efficiency. This is a skill I've developed over the course of my life through playing games like Chess and Starcraft. It's obviously a huge boon when playing poker as well. My ability to mitigate the impact of tilt on my game is a huge reason for the success I've been able to achieve up to this point.
This month, however, has tested my limits. I've had a few nights where I could literally "feel" anger seething through my bloodstream; a kind of hot, violent pulsing. This is not good. While it's easy to quantify the monetary benefits poker can provide, the costs of playing the game are much harder to pin down. Months like this make me question my choice to continue pursuing this game as my primary source of income. If the game is capable of destroying my quality of life to this degree, the monetary gains become somewhat irrelevant.
I've dropped down to 2/4 for the time being, both to reduce stress, and to re-tool some portions of my game. The competition is noticeably softer, which in some ways makes it *more* frustrating when I'm able to outplay people but the cards don't fall my way and I continue to lose or break even.
My last 10k hands, at both 2/4 and 3/6:
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d79/Pillarzz/10000.jpg
I'm not at all doubting my ability to beat either 2/4 or 3/6. I've never posted a losing month playing NLHE since I started playing 1.5 years ago, my results from last year were very good at both limits, and I'm still confident enough in my ability to judge objectively whether or not I have an edge in a given game.
But the swings...
....are....
....brutal.

| | New Goal: $10,000 by k2o4, January 29
After reading the comments in my last blog post I realized that yeah, I haven't really put that many hands in @ NL200, so how do I know I'm losing there? I played NL100 for a bit, rebuilt some confidence, and gave it another go. It went ok the first session taking in about a buyin. The second session kicked my ass and I lost 2 buyins, down 1 buyin for the day. But it was nice cause I played with much more confidence and I mainly ran badly in races and didn't actually lose much due to my own mistakes.
http://www.coskarate.com/images/confident.jpg
I googled "Confident" and found this, haha
So while I'm happy that I'm playing better @ NL200, I'm still not totally confident with it and overall a bit annoyed to be down 5 buyins overall there, which is definitely not doing anything good for my winnings this month.
I've decided that I'm going to refocus on NL100 and aim to get my BR to 10K. At that point I'm going to pull out 3K for spending money that I need, and I'll be able to retry NL200 with a 7K BR and a bigger cushion than before. I also think that I DO have leaks that need to be plugged and are being exploited @ NL200. I think the time it takes me to build my BR up to 10K will give me plenty of learning experience.
I'm also going to increase the # of hands I play. I'd been 4 tabling and doing about 500 hands a day and sometimes 1,000. I've started 7 tabling and doing 1,000 at the minimum a day. It's very fun and engaging, and I'm learning so much more right now. I really need to get the experience and I'm so over-rolled for NL100 right now that I can donk off a buyin and not worry about it, but gain the knowledge from my mistake. Tonight I played a 2,000 hand session where I made a handful of mistakes but I learned so much more from those mistakes than I was learning before. It was really fun... even though I lost quite a few hands.
Anyway, I'm happy with this plan. Of course, if I'm playing well, feeling good and see some good NL200 games, I'll give it a shot here and there. But I am going to reset my mind to think that NL100 is my main limit right now, and NOT NL200. I am confident that I will get there, but I'm not going to rush it, especially when it's clear that I still have a lot to improve.
Let's do some pics from today then....
PT... I feel like my stats are much more solid LAG now rather than maniac LAG.

Graph of the night - I started off with a lot of stupid mistakes, but as I kept playing and learning from them my results got better and better, even though a 80/50 fish kept sucking out on me.

| | 100k Year. by RebuyFoolAA, January 28
Thats going to be the topic of a lot of my following blog posts. That is my goal for the year and I think it is attainable if I really buckle down and grind my head off. I am planning on playing around 30-40k hands a month on average and a bulk of it will be at 200 on PS. Wish me luck all! Also will be posting month graph in a couple days. It is a treat imo. Good luck at the tables fellas!
