What's up everyone. My name is Barry and I play 100nl on PS, might have to move down to 50nl if things don't go
well. I haven't played poker seriously in several months just out of sheer laziness. Well this weekend I got drunk
and blew half my roll. Fuck, I'm still pissed. I had $8k and now only $4k is left. Getting wasted and playing 2knl
is absolutely retarded. I have never done something like this before and I'm not going to have another drink until
my roll is >$8k (except for this cruise I'm going on in early April ).
Anyways, I've played a couple sessions so far 4 tabling and it doesn't seem that tough. Obviously I am still down
like 2-3BI because of tilt. I've just been playing a solid 21/17/3 "standard TAG" game and I think it's a winning
strategy. I just have to remember that none of these guys are playing back at me anywhere near as much as I think.
Fold your god damn AQs when that nitTAG 3bets OOB even though you've been stealing like mad and raised on the BTN
this time. The guy is just not doing it light, he's probably playing too many tables and doesn't care how much you
steal his blinds. He has JJ+/AK every time and is a fucking robot.
I think only one guy so far has really given me fits by abusing direct position on me. Most of these guys just 3bet
with the goods for the most part. And the guys that do 3bet light do it in really transparent spots, ie when I raise
from CO and they 3bet on BTN. I've been trying to smash these guys with 4bets in this position. If anyone wants to
discuss 4bet sizing I'm all ears. I've been making it $31 ($13 3bet) or $32 ($14 3bet) and folding to shoves with my
shit hands. I don't know if folding is bad but I dont think many if any regs at 100nl will 5bet bluff. Maybe I'm
wrong though. I'm going to do some math on this tonight while watching the Rockets win #23.
I moved up to NL50, which is "low" stakes on Pokerstars. I'm not a "micro" stakes player anymore!! woohoo!
I'm also doing okey. Its really not so much different then NL25. The transfer between NL10 to NL25 was much much harder as you might remember
Biggest difference between NL25 and 50 is that the yber donkeys are back. ppl from NL10 taking shots it feels like. Many ppl also dont respect raises from the blinds, at all, but other ppl respect them as much as a early/mid pos raise. easy to adjust to.
I have played about 5k hands on NL50 now, up about 5 BIs. some more if you count in HU play. Now im playing for real money it feels like, which is great. If i win 3 BIs i have made more money then 8 hours of work at my job
cant wait until NL100, thats like a dream for my playing is such "high" stakes games lol
One question about NL50 or any limit i guess: 4betting. it happens like never in NL25-50. when a regular player 4bets its AA/KK 100% of the time. few ppl 4bets AK/QQ. I used to 4 bet, on NL10 like QQ+ and AK. Now i find it more profitable to just flat a 3bet and own TT+ on a low board or like AQ/AJ w/ AK. ofc i have to fold a lot of KK/QQ on A-high flop but i think its still a good play. When i flat i have pos, if im OOP i still 4bet...they have folded every single time. Even ppl i have a lot of 3bet history with.
What do you think? When does this change? any thoughts on 4betting, please.
And obv im gonna 4bet all LP member constantly now
New biggest hand ever: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/406738
This is a 6max table that have broke up. Usually i leave but i got left with the biggest nit ever and i thought i could take some blinds off him before he left. This is like our 9th hand HU, i have won all previous hands. I'm raising any two. guess the 8 other hands put him on mega tilt =)
Just wanted to celebrate a little
I managed to pass the 300€ ( 15buy in) profit mark which i set as my minimum goal for this month just a few minutes ago.
Only played 16K hands in march so far mostly 4 tabling.
I am very positive i will pass the 400€ mark this month
Off topic
I have a question about which MMA gloves the other mma guys here use and which are worth their money.
SO far i only know the Harbingers and they are very good
however their design is almost 4 years old and id like to know if there has new and better stuff come on the market ?
So I've finished the 10 4/180s that I got staked for by nutshot, I made myself a small profit and made nutshot a profit also, I ended up cashing in 4/10 and final table'd twice which is nice!
I think I did pretty well, my strength is definetely shorthanded play and bubble play, taking advantage of players that tighten up on the bubble is so easy. After playing the 4/180s I'm finding it difficult to go back to the 1/18s, I just don't find them as fun anymore because there's not as much money on the line. >
Last 4 days or so I've been playing some cash, mostly NL2 or NL5 6max. Eventually I want to move to cash permanently, and even though I'm rolled for NL5 and arguably NL10 I want to play NL2 to really adapt to having to put up with retards which I'll find at every limit. So far I'm positive in NL2 over 4 days. Up about $25 I think.
Shoutout to nutshot for staking me for the 10 4/180s, was sweet fun and I definetely learnt a lot and made a profit, which is always good , thanks very much man.
If anybody else would be interested in staking me for some I'd be happy to work out a deal and definitely have another go at them, at the moment I'm not rolled enough to play them safely with my own money.
I'll end this blog with a screenshot of my SNG stats since the beginning which I'm quite proud of having only played poker for a few months now;
March has been awesome so far. I've played a very low volume of tournaments and cash games and they seem to be going on my way all the time. For some reason, I've been getting super bored of playing cash games that my sessions have not lasted more than 200-300 hands lately... Thats not good, I may need to speed things up because I have only made 3500VPPs this month and I don't want to lose my Platinum status.
Today I finished 5th at the $55 NLHE [1Rebuy/1Addon] for $1381 . My bustout hand was terrible and I regret for making that play. I guess I was playing way to fast because of all the suckouts I did to other players and the suckouts they did to me in just a few minutes. Anyway, it is still a nice cash.
I also finished 7th at a $16.50 Freezeout at Stars yesterday for $342 . I didn't run good at the FT, joined 5/9 with 25BBs and I got suckedout a few times, enough times to devastate my stack. Whatever, ship it!
On the other hand, I haven't been running good at the LAPT steps and they also take years to fill up... its been very annoying but I will hopefully satellite myself to the events. Can not give up.
Thanks for reading and for clicking on my minicity.
Free pokerset wuut?! (for swedes)by Balzamon, March 17
(as the title says this post is pretty much only for swedish people)
I dont know why im making this post, im tired and stumbled across this site which was an ad on http://www.aftonbladet.se/. So its says if i download Titanpoker, register with their bonuscode and put in $20 (120 SEK) i get a baaaaaaaller chipset worth 795 SEK. Since im a cheap motherfucker and need a new chipset (the old one is like drowned in old beer and liquidshit from all the drunk playing) this sounds to good to be true (nothing comes for free!!).
Well maybe its true, if youre a swede check this amaaazing offer out: http://www.pokerproffsen.se/. Since i already have an acc on titan im gonna register with my dads creditcard tomorrow i think, anyone already did this, is it a scam?!
Must be ultimate cheapness to play nl400 and wanting a free chipset so bad but well whatever!
So I just got back from my first live event, it was a free roll, with $50 for 1st at a local hotel hosted every Monday/Wednesday at 7:00 pm.
It played just like a turbo, kinda. Everyone started with 4k chips, blinds are 25/50.
There were 65 people in it, with 8 to a table, 9 at one.
So, I start the night out with a bunch of people at my table, who love to limp. They would limp with literally any hand, and just checked/fold if they missed, or raised small if they hit. So naturally I adjusted to play tight here. I checked/folded for about 6-7 hands until I get handed Q10s with blinds at 50/100.
I was in Big Blind, folds down to the button who raises to 400.
SB folds, and I look at Q10 of clubs and re-raise to 1k.
Flop 5h 9d 2d
I raise to 500 he calls
Turn Qh.
I shove and he folds, I take down the pot. for an extra 2k and become chip leader at my table.
I check/fold until blinds reach 200/400
I'm at the button with JJ
everyone folds to me, I reraise to 1200 and BB calls
Flop A Q 3 rainbow board.
I check, he checks
Turn K, I check, he checks
River 3 pairing the board, he shoves his remaining 800 chips, I tank for a little and call, he shows 1010 and I take in another pot.
I'm now looking at like 9-10k in chips, and nothing happens and I am moved tables
Down to ~24 people left, 3 tables.
First hand I'm dealt K4s from BB, and I check and Button calls. SB folds.
Flop Q 8 2. He checks I check
Turn is a 3,I check, he checks
River is a 10, he shoves his remaining 1k in chips in, and I call.
I show K high and mucks.
The rest of the table was like "omg awesome call, etc..."
I'm up to 17k in chips, and make the final table.
I have only 3 reads at the people at the final table.
Button is a limper who will play anything with 2 cards of 8.
SB is a tight donk who is just happy to make the final table
BB is a loose player who is the chip leader and he like to play 107o like AA.
I am the shortstack with 12k and everyone else has ~20-25k in chips
Blinds are 3k/6k so I just want to get it all-in on the BB or before.
I look down at 67o and a player I have no reads on shoves on me with 33. His 3's hold up and i'm gone.
Overall I came 9th out of ~65 people for my first live event. I'm happy about this, and will be looking forward to my 2nd event on wednesday.
I just wanted to post that I didn't look like a complete nit against people who are all above the age of like 30. I played well in my opinion, so its a good day.
been a while since i played micros for a while. one of my buddies is having trouble there so i decide to give it a shot and see whats the fuzz about. so i 6 tabled for a while. havin plenty of fun playin microstakes again, miss these games.
the play is still weak i dont know wtf most ppl are talkin about how cardrunners changed even the micros.
myth: people are 3betting a lot at 25nl
fact: no they arent, they still show up JJ+, AK+ majority of the time
myth: TAGs are in every game
fact: yea they have 20/16 stats or similar. just play them in position and their hands are pretty faced up postflop... their range is well defined so play accordingly. they are like low variance but some easy preflop and flop spots they'll know how to get it all in so they are doin something right.
adjustin to high 3betting frequencies...
the easiest way is to kinda like tighten up, u could play like 16/12. then 3bettin u is like suicide. expect lower winrates but u'll make up for it by being able to play more tables.
also about flop betting. dont bet every flop. like if u have A7 on J96 2 tone u can just give up the pot if u dont have good reads. just making the game harder. do bet every flop vs those "TAG"s because they are autopiloting.
look for spots to take down pots w/o showdown esp against regulars. its so ezzzzzz. i ran 30bb/100 (not pt) @ saw showdown = false.
vs fish its more unpredictable, but u can valuetown them all day. dont have to do any marginal stuff with $ involved. watch MasterLJ's videos on playin against the fish if u wanna maximize ur edge. but even the fish master had trouble vs some of them. they are so unpredicably bad and the easiest way is to really wait for hands. I love masterLJ's videos on playin vs the fish, very interestin and funny. this guy beats them for a living.
u might think im on a heater but i did took down 30bb/100 worth of no showdown pots vs those tags. and i had a rivered set valuetownin me and also a KK(me) vs AA for -$25.
Well, running break even over the last 7k hands. Getting beat in ridiculous ways.
Well as far as that, Hansen Jr. has accepted to coach me on Nl100. Gotta grind up a couple of BI's and then start, what hopefully will be, a nice run for NL200 / NL400 =).
So my parents banned me from internet for a week... bleh.. I think it's kinda good for me cause I've been losing lately. Let's hope I will start winning finally after this unplanned break
Seriously. I'm writing a paper on some stupid ass retardation-inducing shit (interim judgments) as usual and even thought the subject is annoying enough and pretty advance the absolutely hardest part is to figure out how the hell the institution wants the god damn paper formated. The instruction states that 13k characters should be about 5 A4-pages the way they want it and even though I've done everything they've said my 13k characters takes more then 7 pages. It's such a pain in the ass. I know that I use the term tilt to much but now I'm actually throwing stuff... God damn.
Well I promised pics about 1.5 months ago when I first moved in to this new place. Since then I got really busy losing most of my bankroll to a horrible downswing followed by spewy play thanks to my destroyed soul. I'm finally getting around to this so let's have some fun =)
My GF and I live here in this nice cozy 2 bedroom "townhouse" which is pretty spacious but very old, outdated and inexpensive, which works out well for us. The only problem with it is that the walls are super thin and the heating vents connect with the other townhouses, so we hear every arguement our neighbors have (which is at least 1 a day) and whenever they smoke cigs or weed our house smells like second hand smoke. Nothing wrong with smoking here and there, but we get screwed with all of the downfalls and none of the benefits.
Otherwise it's pretty damn sweet. So let's do a quick tour! (Pics in the spoiler, and I even resized them this time!
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//2.jpg We start off with the kitchen where you can see the all essential cereal boxes on top of the fridge, our gigantic microwave that my dad gave us cause he was remodeling, and a nice view out to our neighbors. We live in brick townhouses... that feels kinda oldschool to me.
(pic died sry) Here's another shot where you can see our old school oven and some momo's on the counter. My GF is Tibetan and makes the BEST Tibetan and Indian food (she grew up in India) and I help out here and there. We make good use outta this tiny kitchen and cook most nights of the week and eat like really fucking well. If I didn't have her with me I'd probably be on the fast food diet, hehe.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//3arvada.jpg Here's the dining room table and back door. We rarely ever eat there - we prefer the coffee table in front of the TV. But if we have people over it's nice.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//5.jpg This is the downstairs bathroom. It's not the prettiest in the world (who thought of that yellow sink?) but it gets the job done and is yet to be clogged. Plunger is standing by just in case.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//7.jpg Here's our living room. Pretty basic but by far the nicest setup I've ever had since moving outta the P's house. The couch is really comfy too.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//8.jpg Same thing, different angle. You can see the front door here and the base of the stairs. TV and DVD player I got with FPP's off of Stars. That was pretty sweet.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//9.jpg Now we start making our way upstairs. You may have noticed all the pictures on the walls. My GF made her living as a photographer in India so we have a bunch of her pics framed on the walls. They're pretty damn amazing.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//10.jpg Upstairs bathroom and we get the BLUE sink and toilet - seriously, who painted this place? The bathrooms are a bit weak, and we wish we had the storage space under the sinks, but it all works well. Hot water never runs out and is included in the rent, so hello to long hot showers!
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//11.jpg My office where I lose large amounts of money playing poker.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//12.jpg You mave have noticed all this shit on the wall in the far corner, so here's a closeup. This is my "Poker Wall" which I made when I first started playing. Basically I took a shit load of notes when reading books/articles. It helped me get the basics down. I also made notes when I fucked up and have a bunch of reminders about shit not to do, heh. Lot's of hand charts too, though I never used like half of em. I Don't use it too often anymore but it's good for a quick refresher.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//13.jpg And finally the bedroom. The bed looks tiny in this pic, but it's definitely a decent size. If you've got really good eyes you'll probably see the sklasky NL holdem book on the stand by the bed. Started re-reading that the other night cause I've been sucking it up so badly I figured I needed to remind myself of the basics.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//16.jpg So that's it for the house, but here's some other pics I had laying around that I wanted to post - Think I might be reposting some but oh well. This one is me, duh.
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//15.jpg This is the beautiful girlfriend!
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//14.jpg Us together in India.... the most important part of this is that I am wearing my CTU shirt. Rock on!
http://premium1.uploadit.org/IAElitesquad//brett2.jpg And we close with a pic of me dancing with some Indian woman in the middle of a crazy drum circle in a slum we were working. I was trying to copy her moves, which ended up being really funny to them cause she was doing "female" and the guys just aren't supposed to do em. What the hell do I know about Indian dancing??
Ok, that's all for today guys. Hope it wasn't too boring!
Ok, so things are going great, well... kinda. I realized PeerGuardian was blocking liquidpoker.net so I have to disable it to view this site. Bad beat T_T
Yesterday I got sucked out so many times. Got 1 outered THREE TIMES in like 100 hands.
One instance I get 1010 from Buttom raise to $0.30 get 2 callers.
Flop 10 A 3 (0.90) pot
Raise $0.75
Both call
Turn 10 A 3 6 (3.15) pot
Raise $2.90
get reraised all-in
Insta-call
River 3.
He turns over 33 T_T
My mouse keeps disconnecting which is REALLY gay. Like every 20-30 seconds it stops moving and i hear that beeping noise when something has been disconnected then a second later it reconnects and i can move it again. Which just annoys me.
I dropped about 4 BI's yesterday to just stupid things getting coolered etc... So today I decided to take it slow, so I 6 tabled NL5 and was up about 5 BI's in about 1100 hands.
I had a cold for about 3 days, but it's almost gone so I'm happy. I decided poker isn't a game of fast betting and trying to outplay every single hand, especially at the micro stakes. So I decided to be patient, and play hands by thinking every hand, and rationalizing what's going on.
Heres my PT from today. (PT3 won't work for me, so I can't do graphs again )
I'm going to Monaco April 23rd so 1 week after EPT GF. I'm heading out to a charity poker tournament tonight in about 3 hours so wish me luck (its a freeroll but 1st gets $50 so weeee)
Also, anyone know of anything to do in Monaco or Paris (I'll be in Paris for 1-2 days) it'll be great.
1. I start with $50 on pokerstars.
2. I must make the climb to nl25 ($500) in 50k hands.
3. I am not allowed to play sng.
4. I am not allowed to play tournaments.
5. If I go busto, you win the bet.
6. If i play outside of my set bankroll rules (move up at 20 buyins, down at 15) you win the bet. (I dunno how we can legitly do this but perhaps if you're trustworthy you can ask me up to 5 times to quit playing, give you the password to my account, check it, and return it to me, you can also see transaction histories this way to ensure yourself that I didn't redeposit/get transferred money)
7. I MUST complete the bet within 2 months or you win.
8. I MUST tell you about my progress if you inquire about it, for example: number of hands in/stakes playing/bankroll, etc.
I wanna get an escrow to hold our money, i don't care who as long as they are trustworthy.
1:1.5 odds, so my 300 vs your 450.
if any of you guys dont know me, i've been busto more times than i can count and can't manage a bankroll to save my life. This is a sick -EV bet for myself but I'm not doing it to profit.
anyone interested?
also, im willing to take smaller amounts of action, i just want to bet $300 total.
EDIT - I have a new offer, same rules as above, but I must complete the bet in under 20k hands for 3.5:1 odds.
