So yeah im still here. by Cro)Deadman, March 17

Maybe some of you have noticed that I haven't been active on the forum lately, aswell as in posting hands.

The main reason is the fact I'm barely playing poker nowdays, had a really sick week being drunk each and every night for 7 nights in a row.

I decided to take a break with the booze cuz its messing me up and focus a bit more on poker for the rest of this week that is,because on friday im celebrating my 21st birthday and on saturday and sunday two great parties are here so I'll be going there.

Unecessary to say I spent about 2k this month and by the looks of how things are going atm I'll have to spend another 1k...This cashing out shit has seriously started to cut in my bankroll but I guess its fine since I'm still rolled mad good for the limit im currently playing (NL50).

On a sidenote started to teach a RL friend poker, gave him 100$ and I'm gonna spend alot of time sweating him etc because he has the will and I believe the intelligence to suceed in making enough money to live a more comftarble life...Hes a student so it will mean alot to him if he manages to get at least some kind of a income.

Oh ya and I love this new layout for LP,Meat did a great job as usual.

Here are my stats for this month.

Peace out.

Good News & Bad News by KeyleK_uk, March 17

Good News

The good news is, that although I've been busy all weekend from Friday to Monday and put in 0 hands I've still managed to put in quite alot of hands since my last update. Not, of course as many as I'd like but begggers can't be choosers and I'm on course for like a 40-45k month which i'd be happy with.

Bad News

The bad news is, I've been running really poorly recently. Well not excessively terrible just I've lost like 60% of my 50%'s and like 50% of my 66%'s to win, also lost a bunch of overpairs to underpairs, but overall it's going well.

Request

I'd like to have a look at my "expected wins after allin" and actual wins or whatever it is. You know the graph with the 3 lines, just to see how I am running in those situations, (although obviously it proves little cos there's much more luck to poker, especially hu than what you when allin!) So if anyone could link me to the site with that programme that'd be nice, thank you.

Stats and Graph

Hands I lost - With Commentry ^^

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/406070

Maybe I coulda passed this on the river, I mean maybe I should've I don't know. I was just like gah T9, oh there it is. But I'm sure we've all been there before.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/406071

obv not a huge outdraw, or an outdraw at all in some ways, some people might say I played this badly on the flop but, I didn't not against this guy. Anyway just posted this one as an example, i've got in against 6 overcard + FD hands and lost them all this week which is annoying.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/406072

gayaids

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/406073

obv shoulda folded this on the river I just couldn't see him for a king (tip after doing this in a session I find it's good to leave straight away ), if I had half a brain I'd have just raised the turn I think.

okok gonna stop posting hands cos they're really not that interesting and the hands I've lost well I'm not entirely sure what commentry to put on them because I can't find many where there's blatent mistakes (although I know there are some, but equally I can't find any particularly nice winning hands, again even though there are some.

Anyway, even though my winrate's dropped it was always going to, although I'm going to try to pick it back up to 30 ptbb/100 even though that's obv gonna be pretty difficult but lets see how it goes.

Good luck all!

Ascension Log by Silver)Z(, March 17

Spent the first half of this month moving up and down from NL50 to NL100, just though I’d write down what happened so I can look back on this next time I’m having trouble moving up.

I’d been playing NL50 for a while and had come to realize that it is incredibly soft. Soft like jelly.

Planned to move up to NL100 at $4000.
Started taking shots at fishy looking tables at about 3800. lost a bit then went on a nice heater up to NL100, decided, lol, might as well keep playing while I run good, and ran like jesus up to 4700.

Cashed out 700 so I can get takeaways sometimes

After than suffered some variance... but every time I dropped below 3900 I made sure I stuck to NL50, focusing mostly on opening a wide range in pos and valuebetting, till I hit 4000 again

I moved up and down about 4 times, donating a lot at NL100. was nice to feel confident in being able to beat the NL50 games.

I ran pretty bad at times. The thought in my head was: quit when you are losing, keep playing when winning. And I did this. Left feeling pretty bad at times but went and did something else for an hour or two then came back if I felt like it.
Played some sessions when tired late at night and they did not go very well, really do need to ensure a focused ass-kicking state of mind before sitting down.

There were times I worried about the running bad and being stomped on at NL100 but I really shouldn’t have, just concentrate on playing good poker.
Mostly paying attention to hands or regs that went to showdown, paying attention to who will let me get away with stealing the blinds, making adaptations to my cbetting and 3betting and also stealing other aggressive players cbets. Just basically looking for good spots to steal and you definitely need to have time to think for that so 3-4 tabling is good.

After about 2 weeks got a break at NL100 again and without really noticing it I was up 300 in a session then 200 in the next session and I was moved up fully.

Now pushing 5.4k I need to make some new plans for poker, next blog post.

Just found the monthly summary recently, I find this very motivating :3

back to grindin... by whamm!, March 17

sup ive been running like shit as i've said before. really tilted me a ton and was at the brink of cashing out and moving sites, ballin with some shit purchase or just simply getting lee's monies for fucking with me for the past two weeks. it isnt easy at all, even if this is not the first time i've been in such a sick downswing. so i went back to my old formula for building my br after dropping a bi at 200nl last nite. play 100nl/50nl/25nl everyday and progress to 200/100/50nl as i move up. last nite's session went pretty well. winning on all 3 levels except 200nl, so things are running way better aside from the occassional suckouts (which ive come to get used to after 2 weeks). here are my results for today:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/dfa01f3f6143f45f718091503f7af7a3.jpg

i hope things will get back to normal after today's session, coz frankly i think im still a little mindfucked about the whole downswing, ill keep playing like i did before and see what happens, if things turn up well, im sticking with my old gay self lolol

1st post by domyouji, March 16

So this is my first post of my poker journey on lp. I first started learning about the game from my son, who was playing in college and making some good money. So after he was balling i decided to join to money tree shaking. I knew about the game before but last year I watched WSOP in high definition which had better picture quality than standard def which made me learn the game better. I first started around January where my son suggested I start with grinding playmoney. I also received 5 free dollars from pokerstar from playing a hand (which I won 6 cents). It took a while before I reached around 600k, although my son told me to reach 1 mil then sell them for 10. So I sold the 600k for 6 and with the other 5 played for a while, after a day I went broke with less than 1 dollar left. By that time i still had 12k left, so I was like "wtf this dosen't matter anymore" and went to coinflip, surprisingly I turned that 12k into 400k, where i regained hope and this time grinded all the way till 1.5 mil (my other son gave me ~500k throughout my playmoney days, shoutout to him). During then, mid feb, I started playing seriously this time doing 12 tables, and since then been on a steady climb. Right now i'm still at 5nl with around 250 bankroll and with midterms coming up it looks like i'll be stuck here for a while.

I'm starting to lose motivation, cause now I have a roll of $7050 and I had this much like a month ago. I have to rebuild myself mentally so I'm going to play NL50 till I reach $8000. This is a barrier I cannot get through at NL100 and I'm sure it'll take me just a few days to get there on a lower limit. So far I've been destroying these stakes at Everest and hopefully that'll continue.
Playing NL50 will be for me like going on vacation .

General Rules by pomona22, March 16

So with the 500, I am going to have to deal with 500 for at least 3 weeks. In terms of how/what I am going to play will be this:
Start 500
Use the 10%-20% rule and in hoping not to go busto I'm not quite sure exactly what limit I will start out with. I have actually seen this trend, the players at 100nl are actually better then at the 200nl heads up. I think I might start playing ring games at 0.50/1 with a buy in of 40 or heads up. Well see. This whole week I am busy but will start playing MARCH 25th and well see where that goes.

First Posting by pomona22, March 16

Hey readers and viewers, I decided to become a poker blogger. I am doing this in order to keep records of how well i am doing etc. My goal is to try and become a pro poker player by the time I get out of college. To give you guys a little background information, currently i am a junior in college and go to pomona college. I don't play too much poker in college but play usually every day for a few hours, however I still use poker as a source of income. My goal is to net 100k sometime within the next.
Some of you may know me, i usually ONLY play heads up, i'm confident that as soon as you move up from 1-2 and play ring games, everyone has pokertracker and pokerAve HUD. My new labtop for some reason doesnt let HUD work...i hate vista anyway.. heads up is the best way to dominate a donkey i do believe. however for those of you thinking of playing, beware of the swings, they get tremendous. Like Chris Ferguson and his turning 0 into 10k i am hoping to turn a BASE roll of 500 into 100k.
Iv ran pretty well this year but cashed out everything but 500. What is also nice is rakeback is gonna at least give me 500 by the 15th of next month anyway.

1st place $115 buy-in tourney. by TheHuHu, March 16

LIVE TOURNEY, BITCHES!! The field was about 50+ people and took a total of 5.5 hours to complete but I took home first place with a Jamie Gold chip stack with four other players at the final table. They decided I should take first and they would chop the rest (which was like $660 each) and I took first for $1870. I loved the tournament structure because you start off with 3,500 chips with blinds starting at 25/25 with 20-minute blind raises. A cool thing was top 10 people got paid which was totally different from other casinos where it's literally only top 10% people get paid which sucks if it's a 50-person tourney as well.

What I loved was that after 150/300, it became 150/300 with 25 ante, good shit! Anyways, I was severely discouraged at one point where I was only 10 big blinds strong and looking at huge chip stacks at my table, but I made some disciplined folds and doubled up a few times to come in average at the final table.

I made a pretty gosu call IMO where UTG raises 4x and I call with TT in MP pre-flop, everyone else folds. UTG checks and I bet half pot on a J82 two spade flop and UTG goes all in covering me well enough. I tanked for like five minutes before calling and he had pocket 77s and everyone ooh'd and ahh'd which made me feel like a champ and I was told by the person to my right that I was sweating profusely thinking about it (I had a sweater on and it was hot ). Anyways, this made me chip leader and I just started raising every hand and taking down like 5k dead money in the pot every time. I had so many chips the poker manager dude had to bring me three racks to stack my chips because it was everywhere, which he later gave me bigger denominations for them.

After my experience at these tourneys, I giggle to myself when people start whining and bitching when I raise every hand or I'm "too aggressive." There's only one goal when anyone plays these tournaments and that's to win.

Some old hands by k2o4, March 16

I spent time a long while ago and wrote out questions and uploaded all these hands, but never ended up posting em cause there were too many to do all at once... so instead of letting all that work go to waste I'm just gonna post em here and hope to get some advice for em.

5) Villain playing tight aggressive 16/16. I was 3 betting him a lot and he was ALWAYS folding to my 3bets. Then he called and I figured I should shut down unless I hit the flop huge. In this spot vs a guy who opens a lot and consistently folds to your 3bets, is it a good idea to check this K high flop to him instead of Cbetting it?

+ Show Spoiler +

6) Only 8 hands with villain where he played kinda loose. I figured the turn call was ok with a pair and a flush draw. Hititing my out I figured I should try and get value with a smallish lead into him. When he raises I thought AK or KQ were very likely hands but thought AK was more likely. heh. Not sure what to do in this spot.

+ Show Spoiler +

9) Villain @ 19/16/4. I was very torn up on the turn here and felt I should fold but couldn't get myself to do it. What do you do here? I mean, that line he took shows a lot of strength.

+ Show Spoiler +

Result:
+ Show Spoiler +

10) Shove the 2 overs + FD or does the large field and previous action negate my usual advantage?

+ Show Spoiler +

12) Only 5 hands with him... Is this time to get out or do I want to go with it?

+ Show Spoiler +

13) Flopped top set, is it best to get it in on the flop on a 3 suited board like this? Or am I reducing my calls to only people with a made flush?

+ Show Spoiler +

15) Good double barrell? Just checking. Figured picking up the extra outs and being oop in a blind vs blind situation vs someone capable of floating, that this would be a good time ot hit the second one.

+ Show Spoiler +

16) This guy fooled me bigtime. But was this a bad line to take? I figure he's on a weaker Q a lot of the time and was just trying to scare me off. Is checkraising the better move?

+ Show Spoiler +

Crazy Nights In Vegas by JonnyCosMo, March 15

It's been crazy out here. My $2,000 final table didn't go as well as I'd had hoped. Basically what happened was that I had $33,500 to start the final table at 2k/4k w 400 ante, and folded the first 3 hands. On the fourth hand I was in the small blind with $28,000 in my stack and it gets folded to my friend Jermey (aka TheTaker on FTP, I thought he played excellent on day 1) who shoved his short stack of $34,000 in the cut-off. I look down hoping for A9+, 66+ and happen to look at AJo. NUTS! I snap shoved for what I had left, and Jermey rolls over JJ. Ug sick life The board bricks off for me and I went out in 10th for $4180. Meh...

Last night brystmar (the CR pro who is also staked by peachy) made the final table of the $3,000 with the chip lead so we all were pretty excited for him. So in celebration, me and my friends from SD got drunk at Parasol Up, and went out to Tryst for a fun night of dancing. Pics will follow, def some funny stuff. I've now seen ElkY dance. My life is complete.

Kind of nervous right now, as tomorrow is my first $10,000 event. Pretty landmark moment in a poker career I think. I feel pretty confident about my chances in it, especially after seeing the fields in these previous events. I have a $100 last longer vs mig.com so that should be fun. I told him he's drawing dead thou, as I run too good at the Wynn for him to last longer tomorrow. Ok wish me luck, going out to Tao now, hopefully won't be too hung over tomorrow.
