| | NL100 by Python817, May 12
So I recently moved down to NL100 due to a little downswing. It didn't start off too good but its starting to get better. I have 5.9k now so I think I'm gonna stay here till I have 40 buyins for nl200.
I don't really get into many difficult situations anymore and more or less always know what to do. I've also been playing a bit looser and winning a lot more pots postflop instead of waiting for a big hand to get it allin.
Heres the graph of the last 3 days and I hope to be back at NL200 soon.

I had one major mistake, i couldn't let KK go in a reraised pot, when my opponent did hit his set of 2's /lol/ on a 8 high board, but that happens sometimes, no big deal.
The sample size is tiny, but i don't feel much difference between NL25 and NL50, so i hope i'll be a decent winner here too.

| | Starting my blog by Laurentius, May 12
So at last i start writing a blog. Was thinking about it for a while. But im kinda lazy, so that doesnt help
As first post a little history about me playing poker. Started like 2 years ago @ PP NL2 full ring, with 50$ free money. I didnt know much about the game, except for some basics and the rules. Cashed everything out after my roll hit 150$ and i was forced to play higher, because i wasnt allowed to play the beginner tables anymore.
Then i deposited like 50$ on Everest, and bought some icecream for the rest i guess. Played NL5 there and some low stakes sit n go's. I really learned a lot in the past 2 years and grinded my way up to 50 and 100NL 6max, cashing out a decent amount in the meanwhile. My goal is to be a good winning regular at 200NL at the end of the year. Thats an achievable goal i think, though im not playing as many hands as i want due to study and work.
I still can improve a lot, thats for sure, but im really satisfied about my results. I think blogging and posting here will help improving my game. So thats a reason for posting/blogging here, as well as that i like this site a lot, especially for the midstake 6max games.
Thats all for now, but here one hand i got coolered, to end the post
Nice 300bb pot

poker lately has been relatively ok. been playing really weak/bad but getting a W still. came back from a loss today but didnt feel like i got max value out of my monsters, didnt go with my reads too. overall money wise it was a good day coz there were less regs than fishes at the tables. played very straightforward, and it somehow tilts me that i really do have decent board reading skills, but seldom do i go with them for fear of losing a big pot. i dont bluff enough, and tend to stick to patterns most times, therefore getting very marginal winrates most times. i hate relying on heaters coz they too come very rarely, and besides, when a heater comes along, no matter what ur hand or who ur opponents are, u always get action. nearing supernova (maybe by tomorrow night) and i dont feel that excited now, coz now i have to get a decent winrate to feel good lol. never ends but im happy. good luck ppl.

| | struggling need help by fenner, May 12
So I managed to get a roll started from 10bux that some guy gave me as a thanks for giving him something, thank you, you know who you are.
Anyway I started off grinding NL2 at the start of this month and guess i got lucky the first 3 days then after a big loss i started to play a bit different and it felt a LOT stronger and managed to move up to nl5 playing like this and reach nl10, winning nl2+5 at 11ptbb/100 average. Now I am struggling at nl10, it plays a lot differently to nl2/5, I think I found a major leak - Not winning enough without showdown... Heres my graph, i dont think it looks right
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/8915/leaktb9.jpg
It seems as if I'm just playing for showdown so i'm obviously going to have to try and change my play somehow.
Heres my stats which will probably be helpful for anyone willing to give me some advice on improving my game at nl10.
http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/139/statsnf3.jpg
These are all 3-4 tabling.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I really want to improve my game and be able to beat nl10.

| | heater and record!! by pazzini, May 12
yo
since last update i ve been playing 2$ hu, its almost the same opponents as on 1$ hu, so it was just a matter of time, before i will reach the 3rd level bankroll. actually now i have 48$ so i need to win 2 more hu, so its just a matter of time
so whats happend during the 2nd level?:
- set my personal record - 13 hu won in a row
- during the first 30 games i run extremly hot, won almost every coin flip and 60-40, played well and patient so the results are not surprised
-after the first 30 games i stucked between 40-46$, didnt run well, and didnt pay as much attention to my game as i wanted to, but still the wins come very easilly.
few thoughts about my game:
im actually preety happy and kinda dissapointed with my game at the same time.
Happy cause:
- i dont make any more mistakes i made in the past
- i control my game much more
- i know when to stop and when to play more
- i quit when im upset and tired
- my bankroll managament skills imroved a lot(i play all the time 2$hu, dont make shots on higher stakes)
-i really think that i understood some aspects of the game, like variance. after that heater i was ready variance to hit me so i wasnt dissapointed or angry when i lost 3 in a row later.
- i really think that this experiment and playing at such stakes made me a better player, now i realize the mistakes i used to make and dont make them no more
Dissapointed cause:
-after the exam i started playing too much. i play short sessions but sometimes 3 or 4 a day. that should change. its not like im addict but i should play less
- i should spend more time analysing my game, i promised myself that i will sacrifice at least so much time to analyze my game as i play but im not
- i dont learn much stuff about hu, wanted to read some articles but i didnt
- i played 2tables so my game is kinda automatic, when i start playing 5$ i will play one table only for a few hu and try to focus more on the game.
- i still make some mistakes during the play (like fancy playing, and disregarding obvious plays from my opp and paying them off )
After all so far im ok with the experiment and its results. But the progress isnt that big as i expected so i decided not to move higher for a few days. My game become kinda auto so i will play one table for a few days, i will play less and try to refresh my approach before 5$. I will proly move to 5$ when i will hit 60$.
Heres my SS graph (shows all my game at cdpoker, 2$ hu begins at 21 usd):
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/dc41a8e14cbc5eb8b43dd705f40d5404.png
Heres my PT stats since i started playing 2$ hu:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/6850c857559518bd7dbc184a41b8ba43.gif
So that would be all. If u guys got any thoughts about stats and my game hit me.
There was a few hands that was funny as hell, like i got AA and opp has 10 6 off. He call pf raise, hit nothing raise my cb on the flop, then call a huge reraise on the turn with 10high flush draw and hit it lolz, but pt2 is shitty and doesnt recognize me as a hero so i will not post hands untill i will get pt3.
2nd level
BR: 48,01$ (4,24 to go)
The next few days im gonna play less cause i have to study and today there is a huge live tournament i am planning to win. its actually a mini league with tournament of champions at the end. Wish me luck pplz.
se you at 3rd level

| | Grumble + 'challenge' by KeyleK_uk, May 12
Grumble
Ok so me and 3 other regulars are sitting in 2 tables of 3/6 and 5/10 hu each so we can wait for some games. Now none of these guys will play me which is probably a good thing for me because they're probably not much worse (if any) than me.
Anyway so then this guy "Heliga_ak" whose a nice guy but for some reason comes in and opens like 8 tables of his own, as many or more than all of us put together. Now I asked him about it and he said obv it was so that he could get more games, but I responded with "don't you realise that we're all going to just do the same thing and it looks really lame for the fish that there is 30 odd games open and only like 1 running". So anyway I opened a bunch of games and now the list is flooded with people waiting for games, and it just looks really lame. I mean it'd be no problem, if this heliga_ak guy was willing to play all comers ie, if he didn't sit out when I join then he can have as many tables as he wants its just pretty lame in my opinion - what does everyone else thing of it.
.Challenge
Ok challenge for today is sit with tables open and play all day (11 hours or so) now I started at 9:30 GMT i've only found one game and was 600 up at 3/6. I'll post results and graph for the day afterwards. This is to get an idea of how much can be realistically made in an average day - instead of poker tracker telling me i'm making 560 bucks an hour even tho obv i spend alot of time waiting for games which pokertracker doesn't take into account. The reason I call it a challenge is 11 hours is a long time to play straight and if I commit myself to posting results afterwards (I hate posting bad results) then i'll post w/e.
Oh while I'm waiting for games I'm playing GTA4 - awesome. Just did the first job for that little Jacob guy.
Good luck guys

Finally beginning to run pretty good. About time, ftp. I'm also staking one of my friends in various FTOPS events, who somehow consistently makes it deep into lots of tournaments (something i could never be able to do even once), so hopefully he ships that. I also have 300 dollars on the New Orleans Hornets vs San Antonio Spurs NBA playoffs matchup, and after an abysmal game 1 and 2 performance, SAS is shipping it crucial (though part of me wants NOH to win so they can play my Lakers in the western conf finals).
Some fun hands:

| | 2/4 shot = ? by Siro, May 12
(this is FR)
FUCKING UNSUCESSFUL THATS WHAT!
Dropped almost 5 buyins in the last two days. Ran bad blah blah.. Confidence is absolutely shattered atm.
I mean I had over 30 buyins when I moved up so its not the end of the world but very frustrating.
I reaally want to prove I am a sustained winner at 2/4+ and grow my BR to a point where no one would fault me for quitting my $20/hr job and being independant off of poker.
So it's more of a crushing blow than just the money, mentally aswell. Going to go back to 1/2 now and rebuild until I get my mojo back.
As far as the games go - biggest jump of any level by FAR.
-WTF is up with everyone min-raising pf? Keli wannabes?
-People want to outplay people postflop, alot more coldcalling in position/raising flops.. makes for a much much more agressive game
I thought I played quite well, one mistake that cost me 1/2 a buyin for sure. Was slightly reluctant to multi-barrel without the goods but can't complain.
I'd post some hands but I'm seasoned enough to know whats a cooler and what warrants discussion.
Anyways I'll take a few days off (keep going to work -_- fuck) and come back at 1/2.
Oh, also looking at possible long term coaching plans with the right people. PM me about that if you are interested and available to take students.

| | Fitting in at NL10 by thestoryteller, May 11
I was kind of lonely at the NL10 tables last night. I felt like I didn't fit in.
There were all these really tight players sitting around the table, not calling my PF raises with AA, KK, QQ, A8s, 82o etc.
"Hey, does anyone want to play with me?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because you're too loose. You're raising trash like 77 on the cut off. You're a looser."
"Am not!"
"Looser!"
"Stop it!"
"Loooooooser!"
I amuse my lonesome self by stealing the blinds from UTG for a couple of orbits. Then a couple of guys come in and start spewing chips. They suck out and double their stacks, much to the consternation of the tight kids. Wow. These are obviously the cool kids at the table!
"Hi! Can we be friends?"
"No."
"Why? I want to learn how to suck out too! Maybe we can suck out together!"
"You're too tight. You don't give yourself room to suck out," said one, as he got his chips in with an off-suited three-gapper, "You're a tag!"
"Am not!"
"Tag!"
"Stop it!"
"Taaaaaaaag!"
It was too much for a poor grinder to take. Next hand I got 88 and raised it on the button. Two callers, one of them short stacked. Flop was AJT. I checked. The next guy checked. The short stack shoved all 45c of his money into the pot.
Well, I was sure he had at least a pair and I was getting 1:5 odds to call and I could count my outs on the fingers of one hand with three fingers missing, but I really wanted to fit in so I called and the next guy folded.
The turn was a queen. The river was a 9. The short stack showed A2 and I proudly showed off my straight.
"Hey, look! I hit a runner runner gut shot straight! I sucked out! Wanna play?"
The short stack left without a word. Maybe he thought it was a fluke.
But I really hope I see him again so I can show him that it was no fluke. I really do know how to suck out!
+ Show Spoiler +
Think they'll let me play?

| | Restarting cashgames by NeillyJQ, May 11
I've been lucky enough to have become the student of LP's own mbsalsa, aka loosefer. He has given me alot of advice, and rules to follow as i play, to help get myself out of this degenerate funk that i've been in.
I'll post the rules that I have to follow, or risk losing my teacher and my poker career.
For anyone else that is suffering from a degenerate mindset, this could potentially help you as well.
First off let me iterate that I'm done with HU cashgames until my bankroll is atleast $2,500, but preferably atleast $4,000.
I'm also going to be playing on atleast 50 buy-ins, but striving to have atleast 70 buy-ins for each limit as a cushion.
And heres my new bible to follow for poker;
play on 50+ bi (Cashgames / tournaments)
when moving up / taking a shot, set a tight stop loss
(4 buy-ins move down until u make it back)
then u can take another shot
If i lose 5 bi in 1 day = QUIT
SET time limits for ur sessions; 2 hrs max. (only stretch it if
the game is perfect and u have a large edge)
take ur time
dont focus on the money
focus on ur play
and winning EV from your opponents
the money isn't real, and is real at the same time. respect it.
focus on raping ur opponents.
you can honestly say that "I'm playing to make good decisions and win money
doesn't matter neccessaRILY IF YOU'RE winning or losing
highonlifesinz88 (7:56:14 PM): its about the other playersd
highonlifesinz88 (7:56:17 PM): if there is some cash cow
highonlifesinz88 (7:56:21 PM): with 200 bb
highonlifesinz88 (7:56:29 PM): and has huge leaks
highonlifesinz88 (7:56:31 PM): I'd stick around
when i hit nl25 cut down on tables
work on ur play, quality not quantity
but you have a lot of leaks (in discipline, patience, and play)
fORTGET ABOUT THE WORD "GAMBLE"
DONT use poker as an outlet to gamble,
These are my rules for my first lesson with mbsalsa, and im sure we will be adding more day in day out.
I've come to the realization that discipline is pretty much the only thing that has been holding me back, as well as some aggression that needs to be toned down.
Flame as u want,
I want to succeed badly,
and will do just about anything to make it to become a 1/2 - 3/6 grinder by the end of the year.
GL everyone,
Ryan (DReaMe)

| | Stake Me? by Benzooor, May 11
Well, I never thought I'd have to do this, but due to a myriad of circumstances I am very low on disposable funds right now and find myself having to cash out the last of my online BR to make ends meet.
But let's just cut the shit and let me get to the point.
I'd like a stake. I'd preferably like a stake for 100NL, although 50NL would be okay as well.
I'm open to almost any terms that the staker would like to offer. The ideal setup would be, say, 2500 for 100NL and I'd pay back chunks of 500 for every 500 I make past a 3k BR until I've paid you off for 3750?. I'm not sure on the intimacies of staking as I've never really had to deal with it before.
To prevent any chance of degeneracy, I will be able to provide HH and graph / db for every single dollar I win or lose. If I play outside of 100NL for any reason any money I lose would go directly to you in addition to the original agreement.
I do not have an insane amount of posts on LP, but I have been around for a while and played with quite a few of you at one time or another. I am sure those that know me or have played with me know that I am a solid, profitable player, especially at 100NL and I'm sure that I would be a good investment.
I do not have many hands since I had to reformat recently and because I simply don't play a whole hell of a lot of hands / week, but I will post all of my relevant DB here, with no stats blocked of course.

| | and summer begins... by sooon2b, May 11
So school is out, and I am actually a bit disappointed. I did manage to finish this semester with a 3.6, and the year with a 3.5, which I am obviously somewhat happy about, but not entirely. I really think I could have done better, but not much I can do about it now. Along with my current Bachelors/Masters Biotech program, I am looking into possibly minoring in Psychology. I find Psych very intriguing and would love to really learn more about it as I find people to be pretty fascinating. Not sure if i'll be able to handle the workload, but its worth a shot I suppose.
I am living here in Kent for the summer, and its pretty boring so far. I am living in the fraternity house, but there really isnt all that much to do since a lot of the guys went home. The girl I was talking to is still here, and I have no idea whats up with that. Theres still some drama with her ex so I sort of cut things off between us, but am still hopeful we end up dating once she sorts that all out and gets over him. Only time will tell, until then i'll keep doing my thing.
I am going to be working as much as possible for my dad which I am not thrilled about. Its good money(~25/hr), but its hard work, and my dad and I dont exactly have the best relationship. I figure I need to make ~5k to pay my tuition/rent for next year, in order for me to not dip into the bankroll. I think I should be able to do that so long as my dad has enough work for me.
Aside from work I will be playing as much poker as I can. Like I said before, I cashed out all but 1k to pay off the rest of my expenses for the school year. I am currently grinding a mix of 25 and 50NL and it blows. I never really thought id be in the position I am in now, but I guess thats what happens when you pay your own bills, and don't play enough poker. I am hoping to be back at ~200NL or at about $10,000 by summers end. If I can put in about 50k hands a month, I think its a reasonable goal. If I can pay off all of next years expenses working for my dad this summer, I think the reduced stress will greatly help my profitability in poker as well as my school performance.
I have noticed the games as a whole have gotten drastically more difficult. Not saying 25 or 50NL is hard, but its certainly a ton harder than it was a year ago, and especially 2-3 years ago. Its gonna take a good amount of work/adjusting to become a decent winner at the mid stakes again. Its also gonna require a much more padded bankroll. I must say I am very impressed with a lot of the lp'rs lately. A lot of you guys' games have improved so much, its pretty awesome to see all of this recent success.
Since I am tight on money now, I obviously wont be making it to the world series this summer. I am hoping to make a few trips with my grandmother to Atlantic City, but that will be about it as far as gambling goes. I may be heading to Texas at the end of the month for my sister's high school graduation. That would be a much needed vacation so hopefully that works out. Other than that the only other traveling I will be doing is for gaelic football. I'll be heading to Montreal in a week or so for a tournament there. Then we have a few trips to Detroit, Pittsburgh, one to New York, one in Dublin, Ohio for the Dublin Irish Festival, and finishing it all off in Boston for nationals sometime in August/September.
Thats all for now, good luck at the tables
Pat
