Teach me better at showdowns by Trey, May 14

Today sucked ass. Found a fish at 5/10, I got stacked on the first hand, fish left 3 hands later. I forget what it's like to win any kind of hand that gets to showdown.

Good news is though - roommate from my last story and I are going on a date next week. Sup.

I've been missing out.. by Siro, May 14

So today I woke up early after a good night's sleep and am getting in a few hands before work (it's 8am atm).

The games are ridiculus!

Probably going to do this more often, sick profitable.. wish I was on US timezone so I didn't have to play with the nits on tables that are like 14/8 =/

I feel robbed

So basically to summarize the list, its basically all the useless ftp clothing that no one in their right mind is going to be able wear beyond their bedroom doors. books for the learning impaired and all kinds of other useless crap with the only decent item being iPods and some kind of shitty cameras.

note: I actually brought a "velour FTP bathrobe" as well as an assortment of random items such as sunglasses, stress guy, ftp handheld fan so from first hand experience trust me none of it is worth the postage that they must be paying to ship this crap out to us.

So my initial idea of using the points and getting a Macbook for my sister is not possible, lame. I don't really understand the whole problem with being able to ship a macbook or even getting it delivered from a supplier here in Australia.
They do the latter (ship from suppliers here in Aus) for some of the ipods I've received in the past so I really can't see it being a huge step further to include the Macbook in that arrangement...

extra note: I DON'T like mac's, I happen to prefer pc's however my sister is female and likes how the macbooks look in their "pretty" enclosures and doesn't give a shit about functionality and the actual specs...

Anyway so the past couple of months I've spent genuinely giving University studies a decent attempt, and have a prop with karma and pushing4anal that I won't miss more than 10 hours of university this semester.
So far I've attended almost everything, I think the current tally is around 3-4 hours missed, every time I miss a lecture or a tute I msg luke and he'll count it up whenever.

Meh I don't think I'm going to be losing this bet, suckers and another plus side is my studies seem to be benefiting for the first time in a long while and really not at the loss of any sacrifice from myself except for getting up going to to uni and doing homework instead of browsing the forums/procrastinating.

But for some reason I'm up right now at 8.10am with Justeen sitting right next to me after we both finished playing sessions for a couple of hours that ended at 6am and I have a lecture sometime during the day...

life is good when my only worries currently are waking up in time to go to the lecture, bitching about getting items from the ftp store and deciding what to cook this weekend.

Yes, I've started cooking My first meal that I prepared a day after Mother's Day (kind of a late gift/deal that I would start cooking randomly when I feel like it) was pumpkin soup and spaghetti bolognese which was pretty good fun. Crying like a little girl while chopping the onions and having my parents laugh at me was hilarious and the end result was a pretty solid first attempt at cooking.

This weekend I'm juggling between roast lamb and potato mash or garlic prawns and some sort of rice dish?

Trying to stick with the simpler recipes for now and every time I cook something I chuck the recipe into a folder with notes, ie bolognese, evaporating the sauce note that it keeps evaporating even AFTER you take it off the heat...

So sleep beckons and I really need to be able to wake up in time for my lecture, so i'll leave it here for now.

I really need to make my blog posts more interesting, will try harder next time but for now my excuse is its 8am stfu

errr... shit by Ezekiell, May 14

"Fuck you all, fuck this world, fuck everything you stand for!" - Slipknot

Fuck poker too.

Okay, no big deal, i lost 4 buyins today, worst day ever, np. But in 340 hands FFS! 3 set over sets, flopped nutflush vs rivered full, and my favourite: flopped straight vs bottom pair. Ofc till river, he hits his full. Only 4 buyins, cuz i hit my stop loss, i bet if i would have continued playing, i'd have went busto in 3-4 hours :D

So this was brutal. BUT i understand, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I ran really good in the last 2 weeks, well, this had to come I'll recover in 2 days, i swear At least i hope

I'm going to take a day off, relax a bit, watch some movies, play some tennis, whatever, just get away from poker

gl all!

Todays Session by angryfishes, May 14

So i noticed the way i play wont cut it as i move up and after you guys commented in the last post i tried to apply the main advice - limp less and raise more

http://www.altclan.com/download/file.php?id=37
(click on comments if img doesnt display)

so its only a change of 3% even tho ive been consicously trying to raise more and play less hands. shit. PLAY LESS HANDS!
PLAY LESS HANDS!
PLAY LESS HANDS!
PLAY LESS HANDS!

anyway RESULTS WISE i currently like the way its been going, playing 2-3 hours for the last 5 days, havent had a losing session yet.. and earning 551.912 over 18.5 hours = 29/hours which is a very very good rate for me! Although a third of the cash is due to the 200 for finishing #1 in the donkament

a few hands from today
this donk first shoved with this hand

PT3 vs HEM by k2o4, May 14

So after reformatting I finally downloaded PT3 figuring I would give up HoldemManager and move onto the new and improved PT..... but after messing with it for a bit I'm not very impressed. I guess I should give it a bit more time before I write it off, but overall I've seen a lot more downsides than up. I'll list em:

Where PT is worse than HEM
1) The graph doesn't have an EV option.
2) There's no EV stats anywhere
3) Takes longer to load up stats (reports) than HEM does
4) The HUD isn't as well put together, plus HEM has better choices on the HUD.

Ok, some of my complaints went away while writing this cause I took the time to hunt around and found that they had a good list of stats and that the reason it was so slow last night is cause I was importing hands into HEM at the same time I tried to load reports in PT3.

Where PT is BETTER than HEM
1) The graph is prettier even though it doesn't have as many options.
2) It gives you a multi-table ratio for your sessions which is nice
3) The reports are all pretty good, especially in terms of giving you your winnings.

Overall they both seem to have a lot of bugs, especially in the HUDs. They both need a lot of work before I'd be overjoyed with either. But right now HEM is set up more cleanly for me. The thing that sux is that there's no way to use PokerEV or pokergrapher and so on with HEM. PT3 might not work with those either yet, but I'm sure that eventually it will since people always build tools to work off of the PT database.

Ok, that's my ramble for now. Originally I thought I'd put some serious thought into this but I got lazy.

NL50 Update by sooon2b, May 14

Past few days ive grinded out 10k hands of NL 50 at 8.5ptbb. So far so good, need about 30 more buyins before moving up to 100NL. Hoping to be at 100NL and Platinum star by the end of May.

The games seem extremely easy overall. Some fish do boggle my mind from time to time but overall the play is atrocious, filled with high vpip, low pfr, low af fish and regulars. Still trying to figure out their retarded donk leads and small cbet raises/checkraises. Aside from that, heres the hands I had some trouble with

dhanez was pretty standard tag, ihanson was loose/passive, folded a good amount to 3bets/squeezes/ and iso raises .

Iso raise seems fine here, flop i opted to check as it didnt seem profitable to cbet. turn self explanitory. river i decided to vbet. thoughts? my bet size was equivalent to what they had left.

Degen Finds a Job! by flounder44, May 13

Finally i can stop buying expensive shit + food without hurting my BR. Ima start working partime/fulltime for local grocery store with buncha hot chicks(+EV). Came in for interview today and basically they gave me like nametag and everything. Ima start workign next wednesday right after my last Final. Lately i have not played very much poker at all maybe less than 15 hrs a week as opposed to 12 hrs per day.

Some changes: I will start following 20+ buyin rule, no EXCEPTION. Meaning i will wait as long as it takes for me to get up to 2300 before i take 3 shots at 100nl. I will try my best to keep playing a TAG game on 6max and FR. Also i will reduce amount of tables i play depending on my current mood. Sometimes ill be playing 2-4 tables sometimes i will play up to 6 tables max.

Also, I have found that shorthanded may be suited for my style more and theres also a ton of fish in SH low stakes.

My dad is gonna install a heatsink for my comp not to overheat again. I bought the 800 dollar fujitsu laptop yesterday so now i can switch to my laptop if my desktop freezes again.

Catch ya later fishes!!! (8 more days of school left)

First Blog: Hi LiquidPoker! by SaxoR, May 13

Hey LiquidPoker,

My name is Andrew, and I am an addict.

I just recently turned 18, which for me meant starting my PokerStars account. I've been following poker for a long time, and like many of you have a StarCraft background, and have been a member of TeamLiquid since 2004. I know many of the basic concepts like BR management, position, playing tight, EV, Playing multiple tables, pot control, etc. So I've caught on fairly quickly, a friend of mine nicely gave me 10 dollars to start and even though I KNOW that I am not good (yet), I have been pretty successful and build my bankroll so that I can play NL5 now, since there are so many bad players that play .01/.02.

I'm a musician and am pursuing a degree in Music at Bowling Green State University in Ohio next year. (Anyone who goes there can give me a PM if you want to touch base) And as a musician that practices many hours of the day, I understand the value of practice and am a strong believer that hard work can reap any result one desires. Thus I will be practicing hard working on my NLHE skills in conjunction with my other love (Saxophone).

I'll be happy to see any comments whether it be help or words of encouragement.

Thanks in Advance guys!

2/4 and 3/6 by Pillars, May 13

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d79/Pillarzz/MidMay.jpg

Interesting results so far this month. Apart from running terribly at 2/4, I also think I'm spewing a bit in a number of pre-flop and post-flop spots, thinking that players are squeezing light / semi-bluffing at a much higher frequency than they actually are.

Looking forward to playing some events in the WSOP next month...I'm actually going to be traveling a bunch in late May and June, visiting friends in Richmond, DC, Seattle, Vegas and then going on a cruise down to Bermuda. Yay for freedom?

DAMNIT by wakeboarrder, May 13

Poker hasn't been too great lately i started off the month up like 2700 bucks or something, i knew this was all a heater and i was bound to lose sooner or later. And it has, the downswing has hit me and im down like 1500 or something stupid (some off tilt) but alot of bad beats and other things like that.

I have 1300 on ftp that I'd like to trade for stars money if anyone is willing. I need a trusted member on this site and someone who is well known..I will send first if your well known on this site
