tournies are stupid by Reload, May 28

people open shoving and have hands like QQ KK AA everytime they shove. and then you waste like 2 and a half hours playing a tourny to get beat by one of these monkeys on the money bubble. like i just got 30th when 27 are ITM. so lamEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Fuck life! so next time, if there's 3 left until the bubble and I am dealt TT and said monkey pushes like 3 hands in a row, I am middle position in like 14th place, and he has about the same stack as me. i raise, he snap shoves, is this a call? probably never since i'm flipping at best but hey, i like to answer my own questions and rant endlessly because tournies are fucking retarded

That's life, a new beginning. by Cooperstown, May 28

Not much new, had my midlife crisis at 25, nothing quite like coming to the conclusion that something you've spent 21 year pursuing just isn't going to work out because you just got genetically fucked. Aw well that's life I guess. That being said I officially retired a couple weeks ago, what a fun decision that was. With a much clearly head I've decided to start playing again, nothing serious just a few sng's when I feel like playing. I need some kind of competitive outlet and poker always was good for that.

I'm also starting to get my life in order, I recently sent in my resume for an underwriter position at an insurance company, if I don't get it somethings completely wrong. My references will utterly destroy pretty much anyone else who applies, on top of that a VP is personally giving my resume to HR so I have high expectation there. Hopefully I'll be hearing from them soon and I can finally get started on a somewhat more stable lifestyle.

"i don't remember anything from last night. all i know is, is that i woke up naked on my couch, with a piece of uncooked chicken on the stove."
- josh mcleod, an ex teamate of mine

That's why I'm gonna miss it so much, well that and playing in front of 3-5 thousand people most nights. But hey atleast I won't be moving 20+ times in 5 years ever again hopefully. Here's to new beginnings!

What potent blood hath modest May. by jewlian, May 27

"What potent blood hath modest May."

-Raplh W. Emerson

So its been about three weeks or so since I started playing poker seriously and the results have been good. I've passed 2NL and i'll have to say that it was very, very tedious. However, the benefits gained from the limit made it worth every hour played. I've logged over sixty hours and i'm pretty proud of that.

My BR was at about 90$ and I decided to take a shot at 5NL. Although 2NL and 5NL are pretty soft (even for a noob like me) i'd have to say there are differences. Call me crazy but 5NL seems more volatile as every other player seems to go all in for no apparent reason. I've also identified various bad players such as IntelliPoker and anyone with a "Dream" prefix attached to their name.

Not to say the journey so far has been easy, far from it. I was about to give up at one point but I decided to take two days off and party. Come Sunday, my mind was refreshed and I tackled 5NL again at 80$ and ended the session with 110$. I'm currently standing at 160$ and hope to hit 250$ soon so I can start 10NL.

Some graphs of May...

http://www.ggplay.net/maygraph.JPG
http://www.ggplay.net/maystats.JPG

Overall, poker is challenging me in a way no video game could. I've decided to quit competitive gaming forever (i'm 22, it's about time anyways) and focus on this. I think that's it...

Busto... by Xervean, May 27

Busto... 50/100 fixed limit didnt win a single hand.. Im taking this one really hard too, I am quite emotional right now. Usually when i bust it doesnt bother me and I just shake it off and laugh about it. This time however I was perfectly poised for the first time in a long time to really make a lot of money and I was totally secure in my bankroll. Its so devestating to do something so stupid repeatedly and flush it all away. I just dont know what im gonna do with myself. This sucks so bad, I would really be so fucked if I didnt have a job. I simply dont know what I can do to conquer these demons I have... I am back to square one again the same place I was in fucking nov 2005... 500$ and 25nl. I continually waste my time and piss away my social life to make all this money and now I have the same or less than I did in fucking 2005. I dont know what to fucking do im at a total loss. I mean some obviously will say I should quit.. but why the fuck would I quit now? I have these skills i spent like 2.5 years developing and I can run my 500 up to fucking 10k in 2 months easy so quitting doesnt make sense. But then again i'll just fucking lose it in a 5 minute period at some bullshit highstakes. How the fuck can I possibly overcome this?

Total Prize Pool: $1530.00
Tournament started - 2008/05/27 - 14:30:00 (ET)

Dear Bejamin1,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
A $351.91 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

You earned 248.71 tournament leader points in this tournament.

Always nice to win them. I have a pretty good knack for getting it down to the final 3 after making the FT. On a side note if there are any interested I'm looking to be staked for any and all Omaha Hi tournaments.

Bejamin1 on Stars to check my stats on OPR, just started playing tournies again so flip to view 2007 to see results. Very small sample.

This spring by DustySwedeDude, May 27

So after rakeback, MTT's and everything I've done about 2k euro/month so far since january. I guess it's nice and everything, but it's far below what I expected. Now, I think I've been running like total crap the last few weeks at 3/6, but on the other hand I probably ran well above expectation for a while too. My new goal is to get my head on straight and study a bit for the exam and then grind out like 10-15k on 1/2 during the summer. Much less stressful.

I'd really like to be a successful reg at high midstakes but this is the 2nd time I've been playing it and breaking even over a decent sample so I'm pretty sure I should concentrate on making a good and easy living for a while and then try out higher stakes in a few months if I feel like it.

I guess the bottenline is that I'm not good enough to ride out a decent downswing at midstakes so I should just keep playing vs retards and make money without all the stress and variance. I feel like Big_Rob and that other dude has a nice way of grinding out a living and I'll just copy them instead of trying to move up all the time. It's not like I'm close to as good as most of the mid stakes people here anyway.

Thats been my last month and a bit past 6 days i just been playing cash, between 7k and 16k its was friday--->sunday, the weekends the time to gamble, spewed 500 dollars this morning, lost about $1k playing mtts they are a catastrophe for me, qualified for 3 sunday millions came 1092nd and like 1115th which is gay because 1080 pay, oh and i got like $3500 from united winning the league, bet $600 e/w when they were 3/1 so happy days.
I staked someone for $500 and got no return, so back to the grind i guess. So not a great month, played a lot got $4k in my stars account, was up to $5.5k, wanna make it about $10k by mid july when i go on holiday.
All you top players just from a quick look at my stats is there anything i should b trying to do to improve my winrate, i think i might b limping too much, cheers for any advice, also is there certain times for the day you find the games to b softer, like less regulars and more fish,
edit.... cant uplaod stats not sure how to get from pokertracker 3, it goes to a notebad and is unreadable, i copied screen and pasted to paint but file is too big any advice on how to get statistics from pokertracker 3 into a smaller file so i can post on here?

Shameless brag by SakiSaki, May 27

While playing around in pokertracker this morning trying to get some structure n shit for finally switching to PT3 I realized I have played just about 100k hands of HU on ipoker.

So, yeah. Here is my brag, although I do feel I can improve the current winrate by 1-2 ptbb cause Im really alot better now than I was 100k hands ago. And more importantly, Im more diciplined and calm while playing which is just sicksick huge in HU.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/03f2a9b493c00dced27570bd25048d3b.jpg

On another note, anyone else who thinks that "pahud suddenly malfunctioning" has to be a deliberate marketing trick to get the slow conservatives that still cling on to PT2 to finally switch onto PT3?

The timing just seem to good to be true.

Also, Usa never landed on the moon.

And 9/11 was a jewish conspiracy for world dominance.

The Quest to Connect by Xervean, May 27

So the day started off pretty shitty in omaha... lost 3 buy ins in hardly anytime at all. Fucked around playing some stud for a while at the 3/6 level made about 30$ then went back to omaha and got even for the day. So I was just kinda chilling playing some 100nl and the damned coffee shop announce closing time at 7pm for memorial day. wtf is that shit?!?! So I get kicked out and go to my car and decide that I need to gambooooooooooooool more. So I turn on my laptop and begin the quest for a wifi signal. I drive up and down the streets of norfolk searching and searching. I try out a mcdonalds but only get a local signal and couldnt get it to connect to internet. So on the way out a guy walks in with a pokerstars hat. And im like yo nice hat and we talk about jokerstars for a bit then I ask him where a good coffeshop/wifi spot is. So he tells me a place downtown and I head there. Unfortunately I get hella fucking lost and roam around for 2 hours. Eventually I stop at a 7/11 and buy a map. I get to my destination at long last and it appears to be a gas station so i go in to check it out. There was a small section on the side coffee shop style with tables and BINGOOOOO electrical outlet. So I plug in connect and SCORE im online. Also sitting next to me was a full blown african with colorful robes and wild designs and a bright yellow turban. Also the best part is he had a gym bag that said national geographic! I snuck a pic on my cell phone and once I figure out how to get it on my comp I will def post.

So I startup a 100nl session and tear it up winning 4 buy ins. Then I do flipaments at .02/.05 PLO because a friend was sitting. Somehow that put me on tilt and I played fixed limit which is total death to me. Ran the gauntlet and ended up dropping a good 1.6k over the course of a few hours. Then I play a 215 turbo and manage to win it and then take second in a 114. Then I joined a 5400fpp sat and won that. Now I unregistered my ticket to tourney$ and im playing 2 114$ sngs hoping to get even for the night. Will I? who knows but at least I made back a good chunk of what I tilted off at 30/60 fixed.

So in closing I definately need to just NOT play PLO or fixed limit until I have been tilt free for like 6 months. And well I really need to never play fixed limit again as long as I live.

WSOP... I get a boner just thinking about it. by JonnyCosMo, May 27

I also enjoy making blog posts with flashy titles. Anything else you guys want to know about my life? May has been pretty good to me so far. Poker-wise, I'm doing average... I moved some money to FTP caz I got set up with a sick rakeback deal. In the 1st 3 days I had the most insane run at 2/4, making about 16k under my ID: COSMOWNED. Then I think I just got too cocky / started to run bad / started to play bad etc... caz over the past 2 weeks I've just been slowly bleeding away everything I won. Total, I'm up around 7.5k for the month in cash games which I'm definitely content about.

In all other aspects of my life, I continue to run like the lord Jesus Christ. I'm pretty sure I can walk on water, I just need to go out and try it tomorrow and prove to you guys that I can. With the exception of some retarded drama between a few of my friends, this month has really been the most memorable month of the year for me.

If anyone wants to photoshop my smile, here is your chance

Reggae Conerts! - My Hawaiian friend has introduced me to the insanely chill world of reggae music. Here is a clip that I took from my camera at Canes in San Diego / Mission Beach:

Song: Attention Span
Artist: Rebelution

Mid-May our good friend (and fellow LPer) Richard Dayton known better in these circles as RiKD, decided he was going to come out to San Diego and live with Myth & FrinkX til WSOP time. Last week we all went out to get a table at Stinagree, needless it say it was a pretty fucking sweet night:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/ZOMG05.jpg
Pre-puking RiKD - In fine form if I do say so myself, trying to spit his game at one of my friends. Later on in the night was not so glamorous for our solider.

[vital]Myth...

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/ZOMG06.jpg
...Expressed his love for me

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/ZOMG07.jpg
Oh boy... Might make this my new facebook profile picture

After Stingaree closed we met up with Markus and Theo Tran, which was funny since Markus informed Theo that I had 4 bet bluffed him with T9 in the $2500 event I got 3rd in at the Bellagio Cup. Theo is definitely a fun guy with a good sense of humor thou. Around 2:30am, RiKD proceeds to puke all over the couch we were sitting on, along with all over FrinkX's shirt and shoes that he had loaned him. We get the boot and my 2 friends drag me into this car with this girl:

http://www.mtv.com/onair/gauntlet_III...s/cast/Women/Evelyn/crops/281x211.jpg

So I'm sitting there in her car as she is driving, thinking to myself that this girl looks really familiar, even though I had never met her in my entire life... She says her name is EV, and I think I cracked a poker joke assuming these 3 girls would get it. Epic fail. Besides the point though, I finally just ask her why she looks familiar and my friends look at me with a crazed looked and proceed to inform me she was on Real World / Road Rules challenge (like the Inferno and the Gauntlet) which aired on MTV. Oh hey that makes a lot of sense! She was SUPER down to earth thou, really one of the most real people that I've met down in SD so far. She was even nice enough to go completely out of her way to drop off me and my friend in Mission Valley.

I really love random things that happen like that. Ok last picture for this post:

http://www.liquidpoker.net/staff/JonnyCosMo/ZOMG08.jpg
The night before two of my best friends graduate from USD. Definitely makes me regret not working harder in school, because they are just so set and sure of what they are going to do with their lives and I'm sitting here feeling a little lost sometimes. I'm not complaining though! I got more good pics on my camera but RiKD and I seemed to have swapped our Cannon Elf's that we got from the FPP store so when I get that back from him I'll make another blog post. OK now! To the main part of this blog post:

WSOP is coming up! And I do indeed get a little chub every time I think of it. My plan is to leave the morning of the 30th and stay at the Wynn for two nights with my roommate Thomas Gabriel (aka plzlemmewin on FTP, GoGators86 on PS / UB). He's really one of the most humble / nicest people I've ever met, and I've been constantly helping him with his poker game for the past year. The improvements he has made have been insane, and so now he's one of peachy's horses for the WSOP. I really can't wait for the 31st, which is the first NLHE $1500 event. The field / prize pool is expected to be insane, so... RUN GOOD ONE (MORE) TIME!!!

30'' monitor do i get? by shaneomac, May 26

this is the 30" monitor i am contemplating getting. the only problem is that it is used or has used parts, but with it being under warranty and this guy having a high selling satisfaction i probably dont have anything to worry about right? ive never bought anything over ebay before so i am not sure how all of this works.

http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-LP3065-LP3065C...QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

ANY THOUGHTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

also anyone who can help with pokerstars for paypal transfers. even if they arent plentiful amounts i just need to start getting some money on there so i can purchase it. reputable members only as there is that funky thing w paypal and i know you can cancel or some bs after sending.

also had the longest session of my life today playing nearly 4400 hands. it was a longass session where i went -4 BI @ lowest and was down 500-700 for most of the session. having just moved to NL200, this was what i wanted to avoid obviously and i ran a tad below expectation i think as i had one KK vs AA AIPF and an AA vs KK AIPF, both of which i lost. but i ended up even in the end and i am extremely happy with. i made platinum star too, and i am hoping i can reach supernova by end of the summer which would be GREAT!
