Summer in Europe by matdon460, June 25

I decided to start a little blog here to outline the highlights of my trip for the journal I eventually have to write for class so I don't know how much poker I'll talk about, but this trip is poker financed

So I'm spending the summer in Derry, Northern Ireland taking a couple of classes and traveling about on the weekends. I went to Paris the first weekend and had a lot of fun doing a bunch of touristy shit. This past weekend I went to Dublin which was just okay because it just seemed like Chicago or some other non descript city. So after two days there I headed to Galway which was gorgeous and it actually felt like I was in Ireland. A few of us stayed in a bed and breakfast instead of a hostel for a change and it was like staying with grandma, just totally awesome. Great pubs and clubs I definitely want to go back.

This weekend I'm going to London and staying in a hostel right next to Hyde Park. A few people that I'm staying with are going to the Clapton concert in the park but I don't have a ticket yet and not sure if I want to go. Any suggestions from you Londoners on where to go while I'm there would be helpful. After London I'm only in Europe for a few more days before I fly back to the States with a short stop in Missouri before continuing to Vegas to hang out with Blair and Mig. Don't know how much money I'll have to play after nearly busto-ing my account to pay for this little european jaunt.

I'll probably upload some pics when I'm not hungover which could be a while because we're having a euro 08 watch party tonight.

update yes? by SakiSaki, June 25

Havent played alot in June. Spent a week in Norway snowboarding which was sick, I might upload some pics later. The nature in the north of Norway is insanely epic. Ive also spent alot of time just catching up with friends whom are all home for the summer.

I forgot my dell xps power cord when moving back home which is a sick beat. I have ordered a new one but its taking forever so Im using my brothers computer in the meantime. Because of this I dont have any pokertracker stats and cant use my HUD(which btw isnt bothering me near as much as I though it would)

Im think Im up about 8-10k in June which Im quite happy about after I had a -7k session on 5/10 and also losing 5k on FTP after stupidly deciding to play on that rigged site again.

Played a sweet session yesterday against a nitty reg. He was up about 2k on me which is really painful when the guy is playing supernitty. Fortunately, nits tilt very easily for some reason and I slowly grinded him down by tilting and soulreading him. I ended up winning all my losses back and making a 4k profit which is sweet

Hand of the day:

welcome to valuetown sir

Nitring by Yaffie, June 25

Other than my previous blog where I mentioned how hot i was running, my winrate at NL25 has been slow. It's going up, but slow. Like 3BB/100 which aint good enough for me.

I was thinking about what was going wrong, and the main problem I seem to have, is when I'm faced with a similarly agressive opponent - someone who floats/raises every cbet and is willing to play for stacks every hand. I tighten up, but I think too much and end up losing 30BB pots more often than winning.

SO I thought i'd have a go at playing full ring NL25. I've never played full ring before but it seemed to make sense if I play best when I'm in control of the agression and I've heard how tight full ring is.

Within the first 50 hands, these happened:

+ Show Spoiler +

Excellent

But I carried on and it really seemed a lot easier. I was 10 tabling easy, whereas I usually feel my game suffers if I play more than 6 tables 6 max. I played my usual TAG style, just tighter oop and it really did work. Ended up a couple of buyins up and could have easily been 4/5 without the above hands.

Maybe this is the way forward for me?

I'm Baal-lin - Viva la vida en Puerto Vallarta! by JonnyCosMo, June 24

Shout-out to Baal and his country, it's really not as dirty as I stereotyped it to be. This past weekend I went to Puerto Vallarta (Mexico) randomly for some vacation time with some friends. I was basically 50/50 about going, then decided to just go with it and bought my ticket 8:00pm the night before for a flight that left Vegas at 7:50am. Pretty standard. So I arrived in Puerto Vallarta at 4:00pm in the afternoon, and converted $1,000 into $9,900 play monies... errr I mean pesos (Baal-lin!). Checked into a beach-side room at the NH Krystal Hotel and went directly out to the beach to take a nap. Here are some pics:

My friends arrived at the hotel around 8:00pm and we ended up just drinking and chilling in the jacuzzi tubs til 1:00am. The next day we went out to the pool area:

For those of you who went to PCA, you would probably know this bar: Senor Frog's. The one in Bahamas is one of my favorite bars, and the one here in Puerto Vallarta was no disappointment either. Definitely a pretty awesome time.

The next day we went downtown to shop and be standard dumb american tourists. Got a few fun souvenirs while I was there. While walking on the beach we saw a guy making these really cool rock formations. Note: These rocks arent glue'd together, the guy was just stacking them one on top of another. Sick balance?

Later on that night, we went to the night club (or "disco" as they say in Mexico) right next to our hotel called The Christine. For a $300 peso cover (approx $30 USD) we got a free table, and open bar all night. Sickest deal ever? It was pretty cool how they played a good mix of mexican and american music all night. Not really as upscale as some Vegas night clubs, but it definitly wasn't a shit hole. The place was built similar to The Bank at Bellagio, with the dance floor in the middle, and the tables circling around.

After one of the most awesome weekends I've had in a while, I left late Sunday afternoon and got back to Vegas at 8:00pm. Arrived home just in time to rail my roommate play his last 2 tables in the UB 200k gtd. After an hour long final table with big shots like AJKHoosier1 and ch0ppy, my roommate Thomas Gabriel (aka: plzlemmewin or GoGators86) took down the $45k for 1st place with help from some of his awesome roommates (*cough*). Pretty epic score. My next event at WSOP is going to be on Thursday, the $5,000 NLHE 6-max. Really pumped to play that! This break I had from Vegas should help clear my mind for it, so hopefully I can make something big out of that event.

Biggest winning day ever by Sheitan, June 24

At cash games... Felt like i was playing great + running good and that's awesome when it happens. Change from running bad and playing like shit obviously. My confidence is good right now hopefully, for each losing day, i have 4-5 winning sessions in a row, it really feel great when things go your way and the deck stop slapping you in the face for a couple of weeks.

I finally understand i can't play more than 4 tables at a time, that's my limit, there's nothing i can do about it. If i open more tables, my play becomes robotic and i turn into a big fat station. So 4 tables from now on, it's slow but at least i have time to think about every hand and overall my game doesn't suffer from massive multitabling. Hopefully i can build my roll to 10k, which will be a HUGE thing for me, right now i feel like i can do it and if i do, i'll grind like crazy to pump that up to the maximum i can reach.

Also, i noticed if play 4 tables, i can play for a looooong time, like 6-7 hours str8 w/o losing my focus which is weird since i can't focus more than 1h on something else. Something really change lately and my game sharpened a lot, I WANT TO SUCCEED AND I'LL WORK MY ASS OFF TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.

gay gay by fenner, June 24

I moved up to 25nl and couldn't move back down now i'm bust, this is a graph from my last half of nl25, the rest of my hands are on my computer in another city. Anyway, I learnt a lot and really felt as if I was settling in on my last few BI, I just need to get a roll started again and then I believe I have a decent chance at nl25 - this time round I'm only going to move up from 10nl when i reach $1k because I have massive trouble moving down.

Currently grinding 10FPP tournaments untill I manage to get a stake - If anyone is interested in staking me then send me a message, I can't post graphs and stuff because theyre on my other computer but I can crush 2/5/10nl. I have a massive sample of 100k+ hands at 10nl at atleast 6ptbb/100 and i rarely tilt. I WONT play higher than 10nl on the stake. Last guy who staked me $50 got 300% return, i took it up to $350 and sent hi m $150 back, he can probably vouch for me

Omaha is sick - I love it by TianYuan, June 24

http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2608/omahahabh7.jpg
Been playing quite a bit of omaha the last couple of days, very low stakes (since I had an extremely rudimentary grasp of the game and am still at a pretty low level) but what a crazy game =P

Todays session:
http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/5664/omaha24junetw2.jpg
Around the midway point I sort of realized I was playing a bit too many hands that I really wasn't doing too hot with, like maybe if I was twice as good I could play them from the positions I was playing them.. But not now =P So as if to show me their approval the pokergods activated a bit of a boomswitch and I stopped losing flips and 60/40s.

Anyway, some hands, I'm sleepy so might make an update later with hands I need help with.

Various

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471691 - I think his hand is pretty much officially the worst hand I could ever be up against =P

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471099 - Celebrating my swedish heritage.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471787 - ........................... Wat?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471791 - sick hold here

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471713 - Sigh~

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471870 - O_o I don't remember him seeing me do anything crazy. I mean, I have done quite a few crazy things during these sessions but still. I checked turn cuz it's such a scary card and he seemed like the type to attack weakness for sure.

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471104 - Straight flush is good.

HELP!

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471777 - hrmmmmmmmmmmmm, should I give it up because of the FD on the flop?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471829 - Do I fold here preflop since we're so deep and I have totally craptacular AA?

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471866 - Hrm... I should just stick it in on turn right?=.=

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471739 - Pretty sure riv is a fold.. Unsure about turn but I guess if I have 2 aces, 2 queens, 9 flush outs... Not much in the way of implied odds tho =____=

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/471117 - Do I just keep betting? Crazy bluffs I can do but I get a bit weaktight when it comes to valuebetting.. Monsters under the bed and all that.

Challenge update by UCSB_Georgi, June 24

So I haven't blogged in a while, I've been mostly buisy with finishing school and working out the details for my summer job. I really havent logged that many hands and the ones which i have have been at .25/.50 limit 6-max. My game is really improving and im definatly going to move up to .50/1 limit. I'll probably end up playing some nl along the way, but i really am not that motivated to play super low stakes nl.

Graph since last post:

I've finally flipped. by Cro)Deadman, June 24

No I didn't become a homosexual, although I'm sure that is one of the first words that comes into peoples minds when speaking of me.

Its quite simple actually...I've flipped pokerwise, started to play 6-7k hands daily (I play FR yo) 8hr+ sessions.

The reason is obvious,I haven't moved up in stakes like 3 months yet in the last 3 months I've cashed out about 4-5k so I decided to put a end to this shit because when I see a nitbag like whamm sucessfully beating NL100 I feel like I'm really underachiving. So now im gonna play until I scrape up 5k and gonna move up to NL100.

My current goal in poker is to eventually get to NL200 and be a consistant winner there, because if I was to suceed at that it would mean I would be making 3-5k monthly and I could literally ball out of control in Croatia.

I started this 3 days ago and made around 18 bi's so far so I'm satisified althou,I still feel I should've been up more if shit like this didn't happen...

started playing poker by HighTimes, June 24

...microstakes and not doing well... It seems that everybody is playing by the rules of Grot's guide. So I usually encounter these situations:
let's say I raise with TT and in the end villian wins with QQ or KK or something
raising with low pair is out of question... haven't won even once
and when i finally get good pair and raise, all of them fold...

I know i just started (like week ago) but it seems that I'm stuck in one place, pressing the fold button... And if I don't - I end up like this:

Musings by thestoryteller, June 24

I read a short fantasy story (I have never quite grown out of my teenage obsession with Fantasy) which mentions a group of sorceresses that enhance their learning by sending their spirits to other dimensions where time passes more quickly. Thus, their spirits acquire centuries of knowledge while their bodies take the equivalent of an afternoon nap. A way of cramming the learning and experience of several lifetimes into one.

It makes me think of those pictures of 24 tabling poker players on huge monitors, effectively cramming the learning and experience, not to mention the money, of 24 lifetimes into 1, all without leaving this dimension.

Of course it's been mentioned many times that internet players get to play more hands than live players. It still amazes me, though. If Frank Herbert were alive, would he have seen the Mentat training he alluded to vaguely in his Dune novels?

I can get no satisfaction by SuperElmo, June 24

Just finished 3rd in a Omaha reb 5$ tourney. The guy who became first called my shove at 49% to 51% since before that twice he had only ONE big blind left and I could not take him out. I have dominated the tournament ever since the break and deserved to get 250 $ instead of 100 $ (- 20 bi = 80) .Damn luckboxes. Damn me for not being happy with what I get and always wanting for more... pffff
