Team Poker league!
iop, Sep 19 2007
So if people have read my blog before I've been talking about the team poker leagues that I played last spring. So I thought I would explain the structure of the league that I'm going to play again.
On the sitenote I've been playing alot of Dealers Choice lately. So alot of PLO and PLO Hi/Lo, and some random stuff like razz, 2-7 triple draw, 5 card stud, Badugi, Crazy Pineapple, Seb Holdem.
For the swedish people: Expressen/Poker
So, the team consists of at least 4 players and the maximum number is 8. We are 7 people in our time (like we were last year). 4 people in the team get to play. So 8 FR tables, and 4 of us are divided into 4 different tables (we're never allowed to sit on the same table). 10,000 | 25/50 | 30 min levels. So the structure is pretty good. Anways every hour you get a team action which means that the 4 people that are left meet and are allowed to bring a % (depends on the size of your stack) of their chips with them. So if i'm a good chipleader I can donate some of my chips to my team mates to keep them alive or vice versa. When then final table is arranged and lets say that our team has 2 players left then we can put or stack together, and we can also change play every button. It costs $2k per team roughly, and we won it last time So im hoping ofcourse that we can win it again. Oh and this time its in the whole of sweden, where the top 2 teams from each city travel to Tallinn to the finals!
Here are some pics from it:

Phew..
TianYuan, Sep 17 2007

Started off HORRIBLY with KK vs some 60/20 maniac (he 5bet AJ preflop..) who limp called Q9 and flopped 2 pair.
Then I managed to somehow get it in with A high vs a 70/50 crazy person in a 3 bet pot with a gutshot vs his KT flopped nut straight (worst played hand ever by me, I must have been steaming).
I managed to calm down and spent 3 hours playing pretty well until I quit cause I was getting tired and the fish I was staying up for left after winning a semi-big pot.

Morning session
TianYuan, Sep 15 2007

Wake up at 8 am. Eat breakfast.
Sit down play poker for 3-4 hours
Win 4 buyins.
I wish poker could be like this all the time, I suck at handling variance.
Ok, time for shower+lunch.
Hands!
What in the name of god?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272511 - ..... I have NO CLUE what to do here.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272522 - Speechless.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272524 - What the hell?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272570 - "OK"
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272574 - Nice hand, buddy.
Stnd
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272513 - Uhm.. Okay.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272516 - 97 = nuts
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272502 - yay
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272541 - Stnd.
Interesting/help/bad play
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272499 - The guy leads top pair, slowplays 2 pair (apparently, judging by this hand). That's the main reason I called, I thought for sure he didn't have aces (since the hand just before this he led with his TPGK)
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272540 - I think this was a bad double barrel by me..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272544 - 17/12 but with like 29 att to steal.. I don't know if I like it or not. I guess he can make crying calls with tens or jacks. It doens't feel right but at the same time I'm kinda lost what to do on turn here if I don't push, maybe the best solution is simply to not 3bet QJo vs him!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272571 - Missed c/r, probably better to just valuebet here.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272573 - I like my line here, although I C/R:ed less than I should have on the turn. 90 maybe?
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272572 - Hm, on the one hand I don't want to get pushed off my draw, on the other I want to stack him if I hit and he's on a weaker flushdraw, and we are too deep to do that without me betting. I probably should have bet more tho (it looked less small without the rake added in).
Various
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272533 - Too aggro to even consider folding.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272563 - Didn't want to flip for 200bb vs the 90/60 guy.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272565 - <3 darko
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272567 - Implied maniac odds.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272569 - Sweet turn, but I probably should have bet more on the river (although if I was being results oriented this was probably about right, as he actually thought for a while before calling).
I'll sort out which ones were interesting/I wanted some input on later since this is basically just all the ones I uploaded.
Weeeeeeeeeeee

Celebratory picture, cause all the cool blogs are doing it!

TianYuan, Sep 14 2007

http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272236 - bleh, I'm not sure I should bet turn --; But I picked up a second draw!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272209 - Stnd. Top set is never good.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272185 - .... KT???
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272171 - CAN I WIN A HAND PLZ? Nooo, of course we have to runner-runner split the pot!!!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272130 - ......
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272239 - lol obv I shouldn't fold turn, dunno what I was thinking -_- But I never could make as much as a pair vs this guy (after the JT hand), so after waiting for an hour he dumps his 2 buyin stack to some random idiots._.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272088 - Standard awesome flop.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272010 - whatever.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272008 - hey look, tilt, I broke my keyboard, kind of.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272005 - More standard AA losing to idiot who likes to donkbet but of course hits his flush after calling off half his stack.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271959 - - -
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271908 - WHAT THE FUCK
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271905 - God I played this so bad.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271904
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271902
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271901 - awesome timing.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271899 - dunno.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271897 - 84s for stacks preflop.. of course it wins.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271896 - dumb hero call.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271894 meh.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/271892 -.- it held!
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272250 - no bad day is complete without an underset.
+ A million hands where I 3bet, money caller calls and raises my cbet on either an A high flop when I have JJ-KK, or on a rag flop when I have AK.
Again. And Again. And again.
So basically dropped 2k from todays highpoint at 6400$ to like 4600.. or 4500, something like that. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Some happy hands:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272261 - dunno about preflop..
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272265 - No.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272263 - =]
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272268 - this guy seriously called me every time preflop, floated a shitload and bet everytime I checked (ie if I didn't cbet cause it was 3 way or something).
WCOOP Event #1 (Part 1)
JonnyCosMo, Sep 14 2007
Woke up today at 6:45am for my classes, I felt like shit and hit snooze... til 11:00am. Yeah so I missed my classes today, but I've been pretty sick for most of the week. So WCOOP Event #1 is here and it's the $215 NLHE 6-Max event. Here are some of the interesting hands from my tournament:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272074 - First big hand of my tournament. My image is terrible, I'm raising every other hand, pick up AQ utg raise and flop the nuts. Poker so ez. Except turn card destroys my hand and river the guy shoves over my bet. Yuckkkkk. My river bet should be 300 instead of 420.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272085 - Raise JT, flop an open ended draw. The guy in position minraises the flop so I flat call and bam, hit the nuts on the turn. We get it all-in and I hold vs his top set for a double up 40 mins into the tournament.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272115 - Standard LAG image paying off, as moron 4 bet jams A5 vs my AK.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/272116 - My first real BIG move in the tournament. The turn brought a nice double barrelling card but the guy still calls. River makes it even scarier, and I jam. He can't call me, ship ship!
Ended first break at: 7335 in chips
Ended second break at: 8632 in chips
Still in it, will update w/ more hands later

Wake me up when september ends
Daut, Sep 13 2007

I've been running insanely hot this week, but i feel like im playing very well. Despite that, i can still feel room for improvement. im very motivated to try to move into bigger games, but im a huge bankroll nit and will probably wait till i have 40 buyins (online bankroll) for any level before moving up. So i'll continue grinding 3/6 -10/20 for a while until my online bankroll is back up to 200k ish and then move back into 25/50.
Wcoop starts tomorrow and im pretty excited to give tourneys another go. i came close in 3 events last year but couldnt close out anything better than a ft 2 table finish. hopefully i can pull down a big score this year.
anyway. ill come up with some good mspaints next week when im in ac.

WCOOP Prep!
JonnyCosMo, Sep 12 2007
PokerStar's WCOOP is just around the corner but with school going on and classes in the middle of my day I'm going to have to cut back on a couple of the events I wanted to play. So I've planned out what I'm going to do to work around school and came up with the following list of events I plan on playing:
Friday September 14th: WCOOP Event #1 - $215 NLHE (6-Max)
Sunday September 16th: WCOOP Event #5 - $530 NLHE
Friday September 21st: WCOOP Event #10 - $320 NLHE (Heads-Up)
Friday September 21st: WCOOP Event #11 - $215 Razz
Saturday September 22nd: WCOOP Event #13 - $530 PLHE
Sunday September 23rd: WCOOP Event #14 - $1050 NLHE
Wednesday September 26th: WCOOP Event #17 - $320 NLHE (6-Max)
Friday September 28th: WCOOP Event #20 - $530 NLHE (Shootout)
Total of WCOOP Event Buy-Ins: $3,710
If all goes as planned I'll hopefully turn up some sort of profit through all of this. If I break even I wont think of it as too bad. But if the karma of the universe continues to shit on me, then I will probably be destined to down-kick the entire $3,710. As of right now I don't plan on playing the Main Event, but that will probably change. I'm still playing some satellites for it every weekend, and if I happen to grab a seat before then I will most likely play. That or I'll sell pieces of myself out. GL to everyone in the WCOOP.

How catastrophically blasphemical is it to assume that he is a foe easily defeated by servants of the king, Jacks?
Proposterous.
He is a foe undisputedly destroyed by Jacks. Jacks are an arch bishop compared to the pseudoexcalibur he holds.
Fuck him? Fuck you.

In the game of life I was dealt pocket aces
I was dealt pocket aces UTG.
How do I play my pocket aces from such a spot?
Should I limp, hoping some bully should attempt to mess with me?
No, what a terrible plan, I’ll raise them.

You are a beautiful sunset on a sandy white beach.
Your smile architects the tallest buildings
Your soul bleeds a certain shade of crimson
Being with you brings me to a state of metaexctacy
Want you so much baby
Just want to hold you in my arms and call you mine.

I really like the 10/20 games on ftp. I've been running well in the sense that i've gotten way more monsters than I should. I'm not really winning more allins than i should probability wise, just getting into lots of good situations, which definitely wont last but its fun to ride the rush out.
Im going to grind a lot the upcoming days, mostly at 3/6 and 5/10 on stars. Id like to make another 5-10k before i play in the 10k borgata wpt event this weekend. It's nice to more than pay for an event before you play it, i will feel like im freerolling it and will definitely play better.
On a side note, id like to say that daniel negreanu is my hero. he managed to get deep tables for 100/200 nl on stars within an hour of requesting (minimum buyin 50bb) and is a really nice guy. I also suspect that he will be an online beast in the future when he learns how to fully adjust to online play. It's great to see someone as influential, personable and legendary come to stars to really get the important changes made to make stars even better than it was.
And one last note, i think in the next few weeks ill make the video i promised a while back. There are a lot of options for it and im open to suggestions on what people want to see.
