Big poker&life update !
  Gawuss, Feb 29 2008

Hi eveybody. Yea I know, I know, I'm too lazy to make updates regularly. But today I just felt like doing this and so I do.

Poker

First of all I'm going to share some poker news with you. The life-related stuff is, I guess, boring to most of you so I'm going to start this entry with some poker things.

In January I didn't play much (I've been to Italy but I'll write about it later in this post) but I still was a pretty swingy month.

Actually these stats are not complete because my PT sometimes sucks and doesn't upload some hands. But I've been making my BR updates in an Excel file since the beginning of the year and in reality I was up (only?) $1,276.70 + I withdrew $758 . I managed to take 2nd place in RTR freeroll on Betfair and won $1k . In the end of January I had my second session with RiKD. I like how he thinks about each hand etc. and I recommend him as a coach. I realize though that I didn't talk too much, didn't ask too many questions. I guess I was kind of ashamed of my English skills lol. My BR was over $11k.

And now February comes. In the beginning I was on another trip - this time to London, so I started playing on 7th. After all rakebacks etc. I had $11,422.45. The first day of playing was pretty good. I won almost $700 and felt like I'm going crush poker tables every other day in February but obviously the very next day after my huge win I managed to lose over $600. Then I had 4 good days when I won over $1,5k . And again. Poker gods didn't let me think I can win at this game forever. On Feb 13th (yea..unlucky 13) I lost almost $1,1k, and the next day another $600. Ok I won't write about how I ran each day but after many many stressful poker sessions THIS day came. 2 days ago (on 27th) I had the best day in my poker career.

Actually after some calculations I was up $2,034.43 . It's more than my PT shows only because of the bad $/€ exchange rate and since I got a pretty big part of my roll in € some dollars added to these winnings.

Here are my Feb stats:

My Excel 'database' shows I'm already up $2,600.93 +$292 in withdraws and something in bonuses. I also ended 15th/1030 in weekly $150k GTD on Towergaming and got $1050 for it. It seems like I'm getting better at donkaments .

Maybe it's not that I'm getting better at poker as you may think. It might be just Dusty's luck. I've already had 3 sessions with him including one in which I was sweating him. We're going to do this regularly to help our game a little and improve it. He's a great guy, I'd love to meet him some day because he's just awesome .

I guess it's all about poker. Now let me tell you about my Italy trip in January.

Italy - Val di Sole

Hmm...there's nothing interesting to tell (or maybe too much lol). All in all it was a great fun. I love snowboarding but I'd still like to learn some tricks etc. cause I haven't done much about it yet. Btw. we're thinking about making another snowboarding-week in May but this time in Austria. Hopefully our plans will go off well, I'm looking forward to it.

And here are some pics from Italy (these are only from my iphone, I have to get some from my friends and maybe I'll post them later too):

Oh and by the way, we met a guy from Mexico - Jose , who came there with a polish dude from our city. He was pretty cool. It was funny to see a Mexican skiing hehe

London

After a little less than 2 weeks after coming back to Poland I had another trip - this time it was a trip to London organized by my school. Except for the journey with a bus, it was great. I loved this city. When we went on a Trafalgar Square there was a plenty of people. I've seen some Chinese or w/e girl with a 'Free Hug' banner, 2 hippies who were drawing some nice painting on the ground, and a huge black guy who was singing and dancing in front of a big crowd. It was funny

We've also been to Cambridge and Canterbury. I really liked Cambridge, because it was so quiet and all those colleges - they looked like big castles, it was really awesome.

Ok here are some pictures:
(classic )

view from the London Eye

Cambridge

Buckingham Palace

London Eye

Greenwich

Chelsea Stadium

Tower Bridge

I guess that's all about London. I'm sure I'll visit this town in the future cause I love it.

Setup Update !

And the last thing today is a picture of the last update of my setup. Enjoy

Thanks everyone, I hope it's a good read

Peace,
Mike a.k.a. Gawuss

Italy snowboard trip :)
  Gawuss, Jan 10 2008

Hey all, I haven't updated this blog for a long time and want to write a short one now.
So basically 2007 was a pretty lazy poker year for me. However, I managed to win about ~$12-$15k. I feel like I could've done way more than that but I would have to play more hands and improve without any breaks. In the end of 2007 after all cashouts etc. I had about $10,1k in my online bankroll. A beginning of 2008 was pretty good. I managed to win about 1-1,5k in less than a week (which is really nice for me since I haven't been doing so well since June '07) but - obviously - lost it all after a mix of bad beats/coolers non stop and a little bit of tilting. My br is now at something like $9,3 - $9,4k (exluding rakeback I'm going to get soon)
As some of you may remember about a month ago or so I won 2 hours of coaching with RikD. I still have one hour remaining but I think I'll save it for later, when I'll be trying to move up to 2/4NL.
I don't know, maybe if my bad run/play continues I'll hire some coach. I still feel like there are a few leaks in my game and one of my goals this year is to fix them and become a better player and to play higher stakes obv

So that's all about poker.
I'm leaving tomorrow (actually today, it's 2:20am here) for a camp in Italy with a couple of my friends. I'll be snowboarding in Val di Sole (The valley of sun - not sure if I translated it correctly). I've heard many good thing about this place and I think it's gonna be awesome ^_^
I hope I'll find a wi-fi internet connection there so that I'll be able to post some pics here.
No graphs and stats today. Just a picture of my desk:

Good luck to you all

and don't beat it !!!

I'm just too lazy...
  Gawuss, Nov 13 2007

omg, why am I so lazy ? I'm too lazy to play poker, I'm too lazy to write a new entry here, etc. GOD I must play more poker finally ! I was going to play at least 1k hands/day this month but after my ps3 arrived I haven't played at all (nah, maybe like 500 hands but that's like nothing). I have to find a way to motivate myself to play more, and to stop being THAT lazy ! Any suggestions ?

So I promised I would post details from my conversation with psychologist. I'm bored right now so I decided to write something here.

So basically during this conversation I managed to tell him 3 reasons of me being pissed/upset/screaming/swearing. Here they are:

Being in arrears (dunno if it's right sentence) -> self irritation (here too, I dunno if I wrote it correctly) + pretext = explosion (anger "discharge" )

Dissagreement with defeat -> profit avidity + risk of losing my winnings = agression

Other people's stupid mistakes -> high adrenaline level + disappointment = frustration = anger

So I asked him what should I do to "discharge" my anger. Should I buy myself some training sack to beat its ass (lol)? He told me that if I bought something like this, only to discharge my anger after losing at poker, I wouldn't learn not to get angry and I still couldn't control my emotions. He also told me that the age of 16 - 18 is the time of learning to control my emotions and time of 'improving' my brain.
Basically I'm an addict (it's a 3rd of 4 addiction steps, lol) and there are 2 options - I stop playing poker (he told me he knew I wouldn't choose this one ) OR I control the time I spend playing (i.e. 2 hours of poker 4 times per week MAX. - it could be less, but NEVER more) + he suggested me to start reading more books/focusing more at school on every lesson just to build up my brain (more neural connections), what is going to help me to learn how to control my emotions and be mentally strong.

He told me to read some book for teenagers. I fell asleep while reading it for the first time lol and haven't read more since then but I think it's quite interesting and I will read it for sure (it's Sean Covey's book, called "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens" )
I still don't focus at school on every lesson but I'm testing a new option - I'm trying to stop thinking about money as money but as just BBs or 'points', which I play poker with.

I don't have anything interesting to write about how am I doing at poker this month and how I did last one, except that my cousin won a seat in EPT Prague I'd love to go there with him but they wouldn't let me in the casino lol.

Ok, so that's all today. I gotta start fighting with my laziness

good luck to everyone

Another boring update
  Gawuss, Oct 28 2007

A few posts ealier I wrote I would post an update every week. I just didn't feel like that after a shitty start of this week.

On Monday and Tuesday I lost about 9BI without playing that much. I was really pissed off, cause it was all profit from this month. Then I told myself: " Man, you put a lot of time into this game and got like nothing off it. Buy yourself a gift. " And so I did. I ordered a PS3 and two games: Warhawk and Heavenly Sword on Friday. I hope I'll get them tomorrow or on Tuesday I'm so excited ^^ I've been thinking about buying PS3 for a long time and finally decided to buy it. There are a few really good games that will be relesed in November, i.e. Assassin's Creed or Ratchet & Clank. If anyone has some suggestions about must-haves for PS3 just let me know.

So coming back to poker, I managed to win like half of $ I lost ealier this week. I didn't play a lot of hands though. And here's one of my problems. Sometimes I'm too lazy or just waste my time doing other senseless things instead of playing poker. I just HAVE TO play at least 30k hands in November. This month, so far, I played about 15k hands, and after withdrawing some money for an iPhone (weee, I can't wait to have it^^) and PS3 I'm like even. But that's good, I feel pretty confident about my game but I still gotta fix some leaks in my game.
Btw. this Friday I had a conversation with a psychologist. My parents wanted me to do it, but didn't force me to it. My problem is that I can't control my emotions when I'm losing (even though it's not that much). The psychologist told me how does it all work (adrenaline etc.) and suggest me a few things. I won't get into details cause this post would be just too long

Today I won't post any stats and graphs cause it's almost the end of October so I will post them in the summary of this month.

Good luck to everyone,

Gawuss

EDIT: anon wanted me to post the details of my conversation with psychologist. I will post them soon, maybe tomorrow, cause it's a lot of stuff to write and I have to put some time to make it easy to understand.

Weekly Update 8.10 - 14.10
  Gawuss, Oct 16 2007

I was too lazy to write this post yesterday. So basically past week was really nice. All the time I was at home because I was cold. I got my 1st 1k day , then managed to win something more and lose something more lol - my goal was to win 14 buy-ins to get my BR up to 10k but I managed to win only about 7,5 - 8,5 BI but that's also very good for me

I dunno why but pretty big number of hands I play on UB are not uploaded to PT and there are lots of errors. Does any of you know how to fix it ?

So here are my stats and the graph

As you can see I haven't played much. 3,6k hands/week ( it was prolly more than 4k cause a part of UB hands have not been uploaded to PT) is pretty bad IMO but I just didn't feel like playing a lot and I've been trying to find better games. Plus I ran pretty bad the last 2k hands. I got coolered a few times and lost about 1 - 1,5 BI because of a little tilt on Friday when I managed to lose 600$ pretty fast but then won about 500$ from it back. Overall I'm pleased because I finally started to win something and I feel that I play better. Hopefully I can keep it up forever

Good luck (skill) to all of you
BTW. GL TO CUTSSS - TAKE IT DOWN PLZ !! :D

P.S. Here is a screenshot of what I was able to see at the same time today on UB I like these flops :D
