Also and again, the more developed a country gets, yes the lower the population growth will be but these people aren't dying because of over population... we are far far far from that. (even farther considering the extra produce we could cultivate, those farmers will eventually face economic pressures to start cultivating their land better). I am not certain what the Bill Gate's organization plans to do with the money. We don't have a well detailed guide do we? And if we did, we should use discretion and realize that things aren't always how they appear (for instance Haiti and historically at least most other emergency relief funds). Anyone quick to judge and anyone who doles out spiteful comments are or spin arguments in a judgemental manner when they haven't even taken 10 minutes to do some research about the validity of what they are saying... but they keep talking like they have conviction... these people, should be ashamed of themselves. The are the ignorant people who are keeping back progress. The world isn't black and white but in my mind people like them are the bad guys, not people unfortunate enough to be living with psychoses

yes, and the entire worlds population is predicted to start decreasing in about a hundred years. Australia pays its citizens $5000+extra bonuses for each baby they have. Same payments like this are made in a few european countries.

I think the main problem with overpopulation is this: If everyone on earth does the "american dream", having a car, spending like crazy, etc, there is no doubt that the earth cannot handle 10 billions people like (we would have big environnements problems).

Bill Gates has probably thought about this stuff before doing this, but i'm one of the people who doesn't see why this is the best way to spend 10 billions of charities money. I think the most important thing at the moment is fixing environnement problems. no matter how many life we save by various charities, if everyones dies in 70 years because of pollution....

the future of the planet is pretty much a gamble, in order to solve sustainability for the increasing population and growing economies(chinese being the major one), we need technological advancements. If we help out the shit countries in africa, cure diseases ect. we increase the speed of technological advancement but we also increase the amount of global consumption.
