interesting thoughts jelle. you're guide still covers some key concepts like pot odds and overall tight aggressive game approach, but i agree you need deeper game understanding to beat the micros these days.

Probably the beginners book Lee Jones wrote.

It was pretty solid advice back in the day for beginners.

Ace on the River - Barry Greenstein.

Lots of great advice and anecdotes about the life of a gambler.
He has a great philosophy towards the game and the lifestyle. Lots of interesting stories in there too.

Audio book is available for DL. I didnt read the actual book - But i like pretending that Barry is reading me a bedtime story.

Also Barry has yellow fever - which makes him cooler.

I like that book as well. I'd recommend it 4 sure.

The last is the only strategybook that helped me a bit.

Actually no poker books have really helped me. In fact I cant even remember anything any of them said. Maybe thats why I suck lol. I'm a doer rather than a studier. I have to actually have hands on experience with something for it to sink in. Everything I know about poker probably came from a few free tutorial site signups such as stoxpoker and deuces cracked (where i could actually SEE the results of their concepts), reading misc shit from here and 2p2, and just playing it out myself.

I did buy collin moshman's Sit N Go strategy however, and that book worked wonders for my sng play, so I guess I can learn something through reading afterall. But that book is much different, simply a myriad of practically every possible situation you could ever find yourself in an SNG.

when i first started out online i read Super System I & II and that really helped me beat micro stakes
