If you are only a casual music listener , like most people i guess, then yeah this thread sucks.
If, like me, you're an addicted music maniac in search for the next hottest track, then yeah, this thread has mad potential.

Having people copy pasting a few of their favorite tracks in here is not really what im looking for.

i just wanna know what other people consider their gems, classified by genre. my library is already huge (90k and growing) and my media player has a very fast and precise search function that enables me to scan my entire library so im sure i would already have lots of songs on my harddrive in each playlist i receive. takes 3 seconds to check. Also, i use really extremely powerful P2P's so it wouldnt take me a long time to gather the ones i dont have. Like i said...im an addict.

As for Last.fm, im already using it and its really good. I also have the Last.Fm plugin in my media player and this is really nice if you wanna browse stuff rapidly. You can even listen to other people 'loved tracks' which is close to the purpose of this thread but in a far less efficient way.

Nothing will beat the straight up trading of those small m3u files im talking about. Assuming those have been compiled with care and that the author has great tastes. For as little as 80kilobyte, i can send you the hottest 900 (insert genre here) songs out of the many thousands of the same genre that i've listened to. It might not work as well for very subjective genres ...say metal ...rock etc....but its very well suited for more objective genres such as trance and techno. (a good electronic song, my friend, is a good electronic song) The point is..its still great for most genres.

Im just disappointed that so few people use playlists though. Doesn't matter, i've already found people like me and we traded those m3us already so its all cool.

You guys are horrible seriously. Music, i must say, is one of life's finest pleasures. And now that we live in the information age and that we have access to pretty much everything out there, countless of gigs, its really an aberration that you guys aren't using playlists to their full extent. It's really lame to go ; Hi! my name is _ _ _ _ and i really like music and i'm really cool but i don't use playlists!

GUYS; playlists are there to help you ORGANIZE your stuff and to make music listening more enjoyable. Damn.....

... it is truly great that you are passionate about music but you're acting in a ridiculous way. A true music lover - a student of music, listens to an artists' whole works. He doesn't shuffle through tracks like a 15 year old would do with her pop CDs. If you're making playlists of ALBUMS then by all means that's fantastic, but giving crap to people who aren't building some 'elite tracks' playlists is just beyond stupid. If people aren't posting those files that you ask for here it doesn't mean that they don't love music to the same extent that you do, it only means that they aren't using your technique to listen to music. To each his own, show some respect.

pretty sure it's a made up tag for him to classify some things that don't fall under known genres, zouk sounds like zik (for music obv) but in a french way, and he's french so it makes sense.

That would be incorrect. Zouk is the finest Caribbean music out there. It's one of my favorite styles. It's amazing to listen to when you're on the beach.

And Loco... i'd say about 75% of my 520 gigs are made up of full albums. Playlists are not just for individual tracks. So yah, im not a 15 y-o pop whore ^_^
