Greetings,

Anybody still here?

I've been alright. I'm up to doing all of the duties of a proper manager and the pressure is on. I found myself immersed in an online shopping binge today / tonight. Feels like I'm backsliding a bit and it also feels like I've left no where to turn. AA is an accepting bunch though which is a good thing. The online shopping bender could also be a symptom that I am going a bit manic. Tough to tell at this stage. I really didn't want to be posting on here tbh but it is a last resort. Am I lacking spiritually? Whatever that means? I took a nice walk on the beach today and felt the breeze and watched the birds. I got in a lift. I went mental shopping online. If I had more going on I don't think I go quite as mental. As always I need connection / intimacy. Do I need a pink velvet double breasted blazer? Is that going to fill up the hole in my soul? Well, probably not.

Damn it.... Now, I'm pissed I posted a blog. More backsliding... and the communication / information only accelerates. At least I attempt to not bullshit but if my sources are bullshit I am left with bullshit and it only increases in speed. "Information travels faster than fact." (Byung-Chul Han)

Yes bb I is here. Now that I'm an active poker player again I intend to at least post monthly blog/results. I like your idea for going to the beach. It's 3AM right now and the beach is 10 minutes away. Maybe I'll do the same.

I'm working on "Fort Worth Blues" by Steve Earle. Beautiful little number.

I don't mean to degrade LP. It is what it is and posting on here is a form of backsliding for me as an effective human being. Especially with the state it is in.

NewbSaibot,

Do your thing dude.

PuertoRican,

I hope you were joking in the other thread that bringing back toxic people will be good for the community. I am sure LP has a place in all of our hearts but it's not what it used to be and we are not what we used to be. Being active in work and other stuff is obv good. If I were you I wouldn't trade any of that other stuff to be or to make a dead site more active. And I would especially not promote flooding the site with imbeciles with some hope to make it simply more active. It's over dude and it has been over for a while.

RiKD    United States. Feb 22 2023 03:45. Posts 8445

Hoping that can bring some acceptance over the death of LP. Further chatter really only brings us to some purgatory state. Even though part of my brain craves the chatter...

Just as I write this lostaccount is back. I don't think he can literally bring LP back from the dead but he might attempt it. If only it was better content than his crypto takes and angel videos. I don't think I ever banned him from my blog but I am pretty sure he banned me from his.

lostaccount,

Whatever Dude.

I keep getting stuck on what haircut I want. So, I ended up with a buzzcut fade. I definitely don't want anything like the Ken doll haircut seen on most plastic executives. Growing my hair out just takes too long and the in between is terrible.

That's all I got. 3 sentences on haircuts. I love fashion / style but it's expensive. I can't wear a monk uniform to work though and shopping is fun. More money, more problems. Bring on the problems?

How many kids do you have? I am 40-years-old, and I don't have kids yet, just enjoying the single life and being able to spend all of my money on myself and travel wherever and whenever I want.

Being a parent is obviously awesome, but I haven't went down that path yet.

Yeah, Shakespeare is pretty dope.

I'm just trying to be dope. Playing/singing Townes Van Zandt in my new Fear of God sweatpants makes me feel pretty dope.

Posting a lot is not going to bring LP back ALIVE. It can muddy the waters but I want to be great. What makes me feel great? I want TO BE great.

RiKD    United States. Feb 28 2023 02:58. Posts 8445

I don't think our quests are that much different lostaccount. We want TO BE great. We want TO BE dope. Begin with the end in mind. I don't think our ends are that different in the bigger scheme of things. Why wouldn't I want to hike in nature in Vancouver for example? But I certainly don't have your taste in YouTube videos. Although I like ZHU. It doesn't really matter. LP will only come back if the content comes back and it just isn't going to happen. You barrage of angel YouTube videos are not going to bring it back. Newb posting about being a losing 2/5 live NLHE player won't bring it back (I don't believe Newb actually is a long term loser there btw). Even Svenman coming out of nowhere... even if that happened on a large scale. Maybe if ElKy had an AMA over the course of a week that would be a start. The point is you making 10 posts and deleting them all or me talking about how I don't know what to do with my hair and deciding on a buzzcut fade is just not great content. No one cares and they shouldn't.

I can do anything in my Fear of God sweatpants. That is a facet of happiness.

I'm just trying to figure out what to do until it's time to get some sleep. There has got to be something out there better than this. I haven't found that yet.

I have been lifting for about 2 months now. It doesn't feel like I've made much progress. I don't think I am eating quite correctly but I am afraid of gaining weight. There is some body re-composition but I'm still fat and not strong so it is maybe a little bit frustrating. I still feel really good after most lifts. I have missed creatine doses. I have missed lifts. I don't particularly like my protein powder as far as taste goes but I get it down with some raisins or banana. I much prefer whole meals. I think I get sick of the routine. I run out of inspiring music. Especially, on A days. ABA then A is like ok.... I'm going to do my best to stick with it because I know in reality there has been progress. Lento pero avanzo.

I do crave love and intimacy. I am thinking of going goblin mode on Tinder and Hinge and if that doesn't work probably kill myself. I've realized a life of video games isn't for me. I probably won't kill myself. I don't know what I would do. Probably anesthetize myself in any way I can including to continue to post blog posts on this website. Maybe say fuck it and try to pick up a sex worker. Move to Amsterdam. I love that city anyway. I need some human connection outside of work or it may be the death of me. In some ways I feel closer to a drink than maybe at some other times but I don't want to drink.

At some point today I had some crazy dreams or insights to share but I can't remember them and no one cares anyways. No one cares. I miss listening to No One Cares by Sinatra and drinking by myself. I miss Buenos Aires. I miss the Italian coast.

I'm sick of reading this dumb ass self-help book (7 habits of effective people) but I trudge through. Like that can make me a better manager or leader. I keep saying I'm better off reading Aristotle or Nietzsche or whoever. I suppose I am learning enough to continue to trudge through... It's just long-winded as fuck and mostly common sense. Long-winded as fuck... That could describe these blog posts... I'm working through shit okay? I'm always working through shit okay? Okay-kay-kay?

Now, for some content.

I'm going to go lostaccount and post 3 songs. These 3 songs are songs that I probably would prefer to take about 4x the recommended dose of my expired benzos and get more enjoyment but I still enjoy them sober. Best would be like 5x recommended dose benzos and a blunt of the good stuff. Maybe some cranberry vodkas and pure mdma as well and some cocaine.

Well, today was yet another birthday. I am still in my parents' home alone. So alone. I am not sure if I am particularly doing anything to remedy that situation. I got promoted. I make a little bit more money. I don't think I have it in me to keep going at this in this blog... All I am saying is New Years is a time of reflection but a birthday maybe more. The Store Manager gave me a card that said "We are lucky to have you. Hope this is your best year yet!" And, I am thinking could this be my best year yet? Is that even possible? I think I would need AA's help with that to be honest. Best year yet hinges on whether or not I have friends and a girlfriend. And, do I have enough money to move out of my parents' home?

I just had a dream where Brad Pitt and I were vibing. He was dressed like a samurai and there were ghosts hanging out like in Eldenring. He was like a spiritual advisor or a sponsor. I had a clothing company and was very excited with the prospects. Just serving up simple clothing like boxer briefs and t-shirts in creams and tans and what have you.

I think part of that is related to the fact my favorite supplier for simple boxer briefs and t-shirts doesn't do business in the USA anymore (Bread & Boxers). I need to find a new supplier. I get a discount at where I work I just need to find a new supplier.

Actually, I would take suggestions if anyone is in love with a particular boxer brief or t-shirt.

That's about it.

Cliffs:

- It's my birthday
- So alone
- Thinking of moving out of my parents' home
- Bread and Boxers apparently doesn't do business in the USA anymore so I need boxer brief and t-shirt suggestions.

Thank you thank you.

All I wanted for my birthday was boxer brief, t-shirt, and film suggestions and all I got was Farmers which seems like an ok shop to be fair. The New Zealand dollars is throwing me though. My IRL friend suggested Gospel Of Matthew by Pasolini after I suggested Teorema by Pasolini after he suggested Giorgio De Chirico (painter). I really like this friend. He is the only person I have ever met IRL that I can discuss Baudrillard with. I need more friends IRL and I still need boxer brief, t-shirt, and movie ideas!

not sure about film suggestions, but i watched "The Terror" season 1, which is great. It has cannibalism in it, which is something I think our society should be more tolerant of, (if its done voluntarily).

1) William Nordhaus recommended we raise the global temperature to 4 degrees celcius by 2150 in his nobel prize lecture, which he won for environmental economics. His entire research group come to this conclusion from measuring temperatures across states and comparing gdp. To see how dumb this is, compare the difference in temperature of canada and qatar. It is about 30 degrees, but their gdp per capita is about the same. If global temperatures dropped 6 degrees, north america would be covered in ice. Some of them even say society would benefit from global warming until about 2 degrees. Does that sound logical? I recommend this paper, which is mostly readable by a layman. The latest IPCC report says that 6 of the tipping points are now at a serious risk level. At 1.5-2 degrees, that's generally considered to be the level at which many of the thresholds are passed.

https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/1...47731.2020.1807856?journalCode=rglo20

2) Austerity economics was invented in the 1920's by economists to help Mussolini's Italy and Britain crush the labour movements that were about to overthrow capitalism. Since then it has become a disciplinary feature of capitalism. The most recent example being Greece. As for books, you can read the same one Drone's wife gave him. It's great. Can also read Clara Mattei's book. Can also read about modern monetary theory (MMT) which explains how governments don't need to run surplus's outside of recessions. MMT is almost at the point of becoming mainstream now, (the economics profession will come to accept it and pretend they knew it all along). I've heard keltons book the deficit myth is the easiest one to read for a popular audience. But it's quite a headache to learn imo.

3) Their role in the global financial crisis was a result of ignoring the financial instability hypothesis by Hyman Minsky, and choosing to believe in an obviously false theory called the efficient markets hypothesis. If you don't have time for books, the doco 'inside job' is a great one. Exposes a lot of the fraud going on between banks and ivy league economists. Hyman Minsky was ignored because he didn't accept the assumptions in bullet point 5).

4) NAIRU is a fraud. Can't explain much, dean baker and william mitchell write a bit about this. I had to teach myself econ for 2 years to understand what was going on here. So can't really explain this one. Current inflation is caused by supply side shocks. One consequence of NAIRU is that real wages have stagnated since the 1970's, completely fucking over people on min wage. Which would otherwise be around $26 or more, instead of $7.50

5) Models based on assumption that human beings are immortal, omniscient, supercomputer time travelors. This originates from Milton Friedman. There's been some questioning of it in the mainstream, but they still teach the same crap.

6) 300 top economists recommended NAFTA because of the theory of comparative advantage. Which has nothing to do with NAFTA, since it was protecting agribusiness. Can go back and see an article in the new york times in 1993 about this. This is basically the same attitude towards globalization in general. https://www.nytimes.com/1993/09/17/us...ists-favor-free-trade-agreement.html. People in power knew that NAFTA would screw over so much of Mexican agriculture that they militarized the border at the same time it was being implemented.

That's all for now folks. Obviously, my definition of violence is similar to Ghandi's. It includes structural violence. That's why I think Mao was a violent person in 1962. Most capitalists and libertarians cannot say that Mao's famine was an act of violence, since they completely reject the same standards for capitalism.

Education is the path to freedom. Economics needs serious reform, which will only come from educating the minds of the young, instead of indoctrinating them. Politcal science and philosophy have similar problems but not nearly as bad. In fact, economics is so much worse that I often have no trouble getting anyone on my side. More research can be done in 30 seconds than what some do in 10 years simply from questioning assumptions.

I'd say the modern monetary theorists are the most important critics in economics right now. The major barrier to progress in western capitalist nations is this belief that government debt would spiral out of control if governments have sustained deficit spending. This prevents things like any sort of green new deal (whether its green growth or degrowth) from being passed.

Any sort of economic transition, whether its focused on 100% renewable/nuclear transition or one that seeks to shift away from a consumerist society that exploits third world countries through material extraction will need some sort of deficit spending from governments.

The best book on climate change right now is Greta Thunbergs "The climate book". It can easily be read by anyone with a high school diploma, and contains 100 points of view from a wide range of experts (the ones that know what they are talking about). It gives a far better overview than the IPCC imo, and is 10x easier to read.

Ok, that's my monthly reminder to everyone that economists are violent extremists. I'll come back next month to see if people still need reminding.

Cliffs:

It is an empirically verifiable fact that neoclassical economics is a violent ideology. More people need to know this.

I'm sure I will get to some of this but I don't like economics. Never did. The farthest I got was an Econ 200 class taught by some guy who could barely speak English who we all assumed was there for research. 1 hour lecture 4 days a week and a recitation on Friday with a Chinese guy who could barely speak English. There were 500 students in that lecture. Luckily, he posted his Power Point slides online. I only showed up to class one time after getting an A on the midterm and that was to take the final and I probably spent a grand on that class if not more.

Why would the establishment teach economics any other way?
