Maybe I'm a cynical asshole, but I always found it extremely shallow when people feel the need to tell others that they did a good deed |

I disagree. Men are built on egos, so it's important to build up that ego, which in return buds confidence and helps them be a better person. Then they can take that and do good things like helping others, and the cycle goes on.
Good on you, lostaccount. I am sorry you are hurting right now. I will be praying for you. God bless and keep up the good work you are doing. |

It's about religion in this case |

I don't think you are a naturally charitable person / and there is some weird motivation driving this out of you. For example your interaction with Oddeye or the LOL flame war between you and Neilly doesn't seem exactly like Mr Rogers lol.
I also think as an Asian-American/Canadian, we should be less inclined/obligated towards charity haha. You need to do what you are most suited towards. And based on what I have seen from you, being in the staking business, playing poker, etc is that you are best suited towards being an opportunist/profit seeker. There is nothing wrong with that. Asians are good at collecting money.
Imagine some kid in high school lets say D'aaron Fox that has a good shot at playing Division I basketball or something and he for some reason decides he is going to give that up and "start studying english literature" or "I want to be a Professor at some University" or some shit. Doesn't make any sense. Stick to what you are good at until you actually have a reason to be charitable IMO. |

I learn a lot out of volunteering, its helping me grow. If I didn’t gain anything I probably wouldn’t do too much of it as hiems mention. |
