- Abel Trujillo was expected to face Lando Vannata at the event. However, Trujillo was removed from the card on August 14 for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Bobby Green on August 14.
- A women's flyweight bout between promotional newcomers Andrea Lee and Kalindra Faria was expected to be a late addition to this event, as it was announced on September 28. However a few hours later, it was revealed that Lee was pulled from the contest as she didn't go through the USADA testing pool for six months. Usually short notice fights do not need to follow such rule, but since she has failed a drug test in the past, Lee must fulfill that requirement. She was replaced by fellow promotional newcomer Mara Romero Borella on October 2.

Plenty to like here!
Dariush vs. Dunham in particular is fun.
DJ is at -1250 now. PR do you know what the title fights with steepest odds historically are?

DJ closed at -2000 against Chris Cariaso, but the comeback was only +582.
Ronda closed at -1975 against Bethe Correia, and the comeback was +680.
Bellator has had favorites close at over -2000 before, but I don't think they were title fights.
My favorite UFC 216 fights on paper are:
Green vs. Vannata
Duquesnoy vs. Stamann
Dariush vs. Dunham
Ferguson vs. Lee
For a PPV, this is a pretty fun card. You also gotta remember that there are no big UFC stars anymore due to retirement, suspended for PEDs, or just inactive.
The only big star left is Conor, and he won't fight again until 2018, unless the UFC pays him a ton of money to headline the UFC 219 card on December 30 in Las Vegas. No other fight before that makes sense, as the other PPVs are booked except for the PPV in Michigan, and no way will Conor fight in Michigan.

Well i think the ufc 217 main is pretty damn exciting. And that card overall is really solid.
The 216 one is a bit weak for a PPV imo. I mean, there are some interesting fights but its no where near as good as 217. I'm curious to see how Duquesnoy does, he seemed realllly promising.
james9994: make note dont play against floofy, ;(

That's harsh. It's a historic record fight. Besides obviously being related to issues with DJ's drawing power they certainly have not started to like him more since he has been speaking out.

DJ is simply being stubborn, he wants to get paid for just being good and that is not enough.
He doesnt have to play games with the media, A. Silva was awful with the media but he was a huge draw, he needs to listen to his manager and understand that its not just a sprot but a show.

Anderson Silva only got popular toward the end of his career. His PPV cards didn't sell big numbers.

Its not the most effective way to go big, but he became big despise being one of the most awful fighters media-wise, he didnt speak english, he said dumb shit all the time, he has a girly voice etc
