- In order for the event to be broadcast live during Prime time hours on the east coast of North America, the main card is expected to begin at 3:00 am (October 9) local time in Manchester (GMT), with a full preliminary card beginning at approximately 11:00 pm (October 8) local time. Despite the very late starting time, ticket demand was exceptionally high, as all tickets for the venue sold out in a matter of minutes.
- The event is expected to be headlined by a UFC Middleweight Championship fight between current champion Michael Bisping and the former Pride Welterweight, Pride Middleweight and former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Dan Henderson. The pairing met previously in July 2009 at UFC 100 with Henderson taking the victory via second round highlight reel knockout.
- A bantamweight bout between Brad Pickett and Iuri Alcantara was previously linked to UFC Fight Night: Arlovski vs. Barnett. However, it is now expected to be contested at this event.
- Ruslan Magomedov was expected to face Stefan Struve at this event, but pulled out on September 9 due to a staph infection. Struve will now face Daniel Omielanczuk.
- Arnold Allen was scheduled to face Mirsad Bektic at the event. However, Allen pulled out of the fight on 29 September for undisclosed reasons. He was replaced by Jeremy Kennedy.
- Lukasz Sajewski replaced Reza Madadi on 6 days notice and will fight the UFC newcomer, Marc Diakiese.
- Arnold Allen was scheduled to face Mirsad Bektic at the event. However, Allen pulled out of the fight on 29 September for undisclosed reasons. Jeremy Kennedy was briefly linked as the replacement. Subsequently, just hours after his participation was publicly confirmed, Kennedy indicated he was injured and unable to fight. Bektic will now face Russell Doane.

Bisping was such an idiot on his last fight vs Hendo it wouldnt surprise me if he gets caught by that right hook again... its the same thing that with Nelson if they KO you with just a clean right its because you fought like an idiot.

I forgot that Jeremy Kennedy pulled out of his fight last week.

Russell Doane will replace Kennedy on 3.5 days notice and fight Mirsad Bektic.

Doane lives and trains in Hawaii and will be on his way to England asap.

It's also worth mentioning that Doane is on a three-fight losing streak and has nothing to lose by taking this fight, and everything to gain.

Hendo is just so bad though. He could have easily be 1-8 in his last 9.

Will be interesting to see how this whole MW thing plays out. Cheering for Hendo for obvious reasons, but I also think it'd be the best for the division if he won and retired and Weidman/Romero winner could fight Luke/Jacare winner. Who knows if Hendo would even retire anyways though.

yeah I mean, Bisping has to be the favourite I just cant root for him, he is the most unskilled UFC champ in a long time, in his defense he seems to fight smarter, at his beggining he looked like a smart technical grinder but he made so many mistakes, now he seems he matured.

I dont think Hendo retires as the Champ, theres too much money to be made for him.

Calling Bisping the most unskilled champ in a long time is unfair, and it's also wrong.

Skills for skills, Bisping is better than Eddie Alvarez.

Eddie is a mediocre wrestler who gets overrated in this area. His pot-shot boxing doesn't work anymore at the highest level, which is why he hasn't used it in the UFC after Cerrone fucked him up in his debut. He doesn't really have any BJJ skills aside from the same chokes everyone can do like an RnC and guillotine. His cardio is usually good, but it has looked bad in certain fights. He doesn't use kicks much, and he's known for getting rocked and recovering.

Bisping has better movement, he's faster, better overall technical striking, better MMA wrestling (offensive/defensive, imo), better cardio, way higher striking output, and we don't really know how good his BJJ is cuz of his good TDD. Over his last few fights, Bisping has started faster, which used to be his biggest issue. He also has better movement and striking defense, which is why his rematch against Hendo looks worse for Hendo this time around cuz he has less outs.

I mean I dunno how you could say that when Bisping has basically 1 good win which everyone considers a fluke while Eddie has beaten RDA, Pettis, Gil, Chandler, Kawajiri in his prime..

I think they're probably close skills wise, but Eddie is a lot better at putting it all together and winning.

No way Hendo retires if he wins, he will defend his belt until he loses it (his first defense is the most probably scenario) and then he will retire imo. He can make millions defending his title.

both eddie and bisping are shit belt warmers and you guys know it. Hendo has a great chance against pillowfists mcgee, Conor will KO that midget Alvarez, dat small chin isn't absorbing Conors strikes well at all.

I slightly favor Tumenov, I think he has a better than 35 % chance though. I'd say more like 45/55. Neither will wrestle, if anyone gets a TD itll be Edwards, he has hometown edge if its a close fight on the cards. He's a crisper boxer and has a reach/size edge. Tumenov hits harder and has a far better kicking game. I think it's gonna be a close technical fight.

I know this is a below average PPV but I actually really like a few of the fights. Excited for that fight as well as Roberts/Perry, Mousasi/Belfort, and excited to see Diakiese and Bektic perform.

Interesting view of their skill sets.

The way I see it:

- Tumenov is the better pure boxer, has more power, and has nice kicks that setup his flurry of punches when his opponent reaches the circle/octagon line that's a few feet in front of the cage. Tumenov also has better cardio and keeps up the same pace, while also throwing a lot more volume.

- Edwards is the superior kicker and is able to use his wrestling against low level fighters. He also has the hometown advantage. What he lacks is volume, foot + head movement, and boxing skills. Edwards looks good when he's the aggressor, but not so much when he isn't given the space to kick freely.

I see this as a UD for Tumenov, or possibly a TKO in the 2nd or 3rd round. I think Edwards will go for a take down in R1, when he is pressed up against the cage and is stuck, or if he gets hurt and needs to do something quick.

- 10 $ Manuwa + Hendo to win 64.31
- 10 $ Picket + Hendo to win 62.54

Martins didnt throw enough but Santos literally circled away and landed 1 good headkick and a few body kicks. Martins pressured him 100 % of the time, landed more and harder. Wow. That's gross.

Martins R3

Martins 2-1, but expected a split-decision for either guy

Yep. Classic case of being so gassed that you go off instincts that don't serve your interests like continuing to clinch up and not circling off the fence

Sajewski decision $10 - +515 next tilt bet

dam tumenov -250 was my biggest bet... maybe bad idea?

iakim322   United States. Oct 09 2016 01:08. Posts 1335

Had Roberts. Felt that one coming even as he was winning the start of Rd 3 and ideally clinching up the decision. Just really unintelligent spurts of blowing his wad swinging at air so he'd have no energy to properly defend for the 5-10 seconds afterwards each time

Apparently beating Mike Perry is harder than it looks

I dunno I think Edwards is a really good striker who, like Tumenov, has struggled primarily with grapplers so this is gonna be a highly technical fight. I think the odds are wide. Late money came in on Edwards hes +155 now.

Good thing Sajewski took this fight on 1 week notice and gassed out, or else Diakiese would've lost via grapple fuck or by submission.

Diakese has talent but looks to me like he's going to be a likely candidate to be on the wrong end of a highlight reel ko if he gets moved up fast

I'll be looking to fade Diakiese if he gets matched up with a decent grappler with a chin and is unjustly heavily favored

Yah hes got a high ceiling for sure, could be anything from a total bust to a contender

Obviously when you can flip a guy over Daniel Cormier style but than get body-lock tripped by him on the first attempt repeatedly, you have some technique to learn.

Henderson didn't push the pace in R4/R5 like he needed to.

I guess he tried a little in R5 with the take down attempt, but it was a shitty effort. He should've spammed punches on the feet, it's not like he had anything to lose.

Bisping can die now. He defeat Anderson Silva, He won the UFC title and now he have his revenge against Hendo.

Also, not one of the judges gave Henderson a 10-8 for Round 1, even though 2 of the judges gave Henderson Round 2.

1,2,5 hendo imo although 5 was close... i think hendo could have played it a little better in the last 2 mins and won but he certainly landed the harder strikes and took the first half of the round

alejandicto   . Oct 09 2016 05:40. Posts 865

Sick that Hendo was very close to become the champion in round 1

Going to be pretty funny when any of Jacare Gegard Weidman or Rock hold are favored over the champ by like 3 to 1. Even funnier if Bisping miraculously retains again

Hendo fought stupid, he had to figh like he fought in round 5. He was waiting the KO and let Bisping control the fight.

Hendo doesnt have the tank to fight like that for 5 rounds, the only reason he did it is because he conserved his energy

BTW

I scored it
10-8
9-9
9-10
9-10
10-10 ?

Id have to watch the last round carefully it was pretty even, but I had it tied to the 4th round and in retrospect I think thats the correct scores, 1st was a near finish, easy 10-8 round 2 was dominated by Bisping but he loses a point to a knockdown, the other 2 were clear Bisping rounds the last one is harder to judge.

Maybe not the whole fight but he was just waiting and Bisping was scoring points like a mofo.

9-9?

alejandicto   . Oct 09 2016 06:41. Posts 865

I think it was:

10 - 8
9 - 10 (Bisping controlled all the round, Hendo just had one knockdown but I dont think is enough to give him the round)
9 - 10
9 - 10
10 - 9

It should have been a draw imo

Knockdowns discount 1 point from a fighter

lol you're confusing MMA with boxing.

I scored it

10-8
10-9
9-10
9-10
9-10

Rounds 2 & 5 were really close and could have gone either way. Though I'm a bit bias for Hendo

The fact that Bisping almost lost to Hendo in a 5 round decision is just embarrassing. I can't believe Bisping is champ lol. It's worse than when Serra was champ imo.

I scored it the same way.

Hendo just needed to let his hands go more in R5 instead of trying for that TD.

Oh well.

Still think Bisping is more skilled than Alvarez?

I think a lot of WW's would have beaten Bisping tonight. Woodley, Wonderboy, Rory. Fuck maybe even Cerrone lol.

There wasn't much going for it on hendo's part, should've thought of that first. He's retiring and a win won't really matter if he's going to absolutely try his best, he was going for an easy win and when he saw bisping wasn't going out with one punch no more, I felt he kinda faded in rounds 4 and 5. He could've just ran around after seeing bisping survive the 2nd one and he was gassing already and booked the win, question in his mind must've been "for what?" I felt he wanted to go out with a bang or just let bisping have the belt. in fariness to bisping he was in super good condition all througout the fight so i give him that.

yeah afaik MMA doesnt have that direct unbendable rule of knockdown - 1 point however I think that round should be scored as a draw so make it 9-9 or 10-10 doesnt matter.

Could MMA judges get a grip? not a single one scored the first round 10-8 even after the memo of the new rules for scoring encourages judges to do so.

My dream job is being a combat sports judge, you watch fights for free, you dont need to know what the fuck you are doing and you get paid, pretty neat.

I enjoyed the event and actually liked the matchup, but that was atrocious for a title fight. I'm happy for Bisping because he has put in his dues and I kind of like him nowadays. He will walk from the sport with a win over Anderson, a win over Rockhold, revenging his terrible Henderson ko loss, and as a defending champion. What the books won't show is that his revenge came in a close fight against a 46 year old, his win over Anderson when he was 41, and his win over Rockhold a 1/20 lucky shot. Seriously crazy how this unfolded for him to really cement his time in mma as an incredible career.

this is exactly what I meant before... once an idiot always an idiot when it comes to fighting, Bisping knows all he has to do is avoid the right and he wins, Hendo isnt even throwing anything else at him, yet he throws that stupid rusian jab without tucking his chin behind the left shoulder and doesnt bring the hand back to his chin nor leave the hand hangin to stiff-arm him... its as if he was trying his hardest to get KOd, at least he didnt circle to Hendos right all the time like he did last time.

Yeah after round one I thought "No way Bisping survives" . But anyway it was ev+ betting on Hendo at +195 since it should be a draw, the fight was close and he almost got the finish.
