I like how the games were played even though it was kind of one-sided. Shuttle seems to be finally coming to his own. Flash could've been a perfect matchup since they battle a lot and are 60/40ish whenever they do. He should start turning into a protoss monster with his slow and steady protoss play which is rare nowadays. Protoss has become such a macro whoring race it kinda lost it's strength vs constantly adaptive Terran strategies.

Arbiters are so OP, they should have much lower health

They have too much health, I dont think reducing freezing time would change much unless its drastically reduced and its ok for it to be powerful, but I think they should be handled with care, they need to be frail, the fact that they can ignore turrets, recall into expansions and retreat with almost no damage is pretty shitty, Terran has low mobility and the Arbiters keep them from over-expanding with recalls and also destroy their attacks with stasis field.

Terrans have to build Science vessels only to semi-counter them in a poor fashion where they need to preemtive EMP which often fails and its effects on troops is way less useful than stasis field.

I remember when people thought arbiters were a gimmick..... Meanwhile I had gotten my hands on Bisu and Pusan secret ladder smurf replays and was busy 2 base arbiter rushing every PvT. Can't believe that was just over 10 years ago...

I remember mass Carriers were so difficult to defeat that it felt OP when everybody sucked, this was probably even before Nal-Ra

i think at one point that announcer says plasma shield upgrades dont reduce the damage taken they just increase the rate the shields recharge? pretty sure thats not true

Day 1 of OSL flash vs. zero game was really cool to me, demonstrates how ZvT has changed in last few years pretty nicely I think.

Awesome games. Some new moves, some old school build orders too.

I think there is some chance that blizzard will announce HD Broodwar at blizzcon this year. I saw some leaked Chinese articles about it which have been pretty reliable for expansions in hearthstone. Who knows!

^^ yeah broodwar HD. nothing changes except the resolution and whole pain in the ass port forwarding requirements. I hope they don't remove LAN though, its really the best part of the game. Ill buy my copy after 15 years lol

Those are the best games, where the game is so dead eve just 1 or 2 clicks actually make the difference, had he not trapped his units in the corner at the end he might have been able to hold him and keep the base and win the game, amazing stuff.

What I love about starcraft is that the skillcap is so insanely high, at all times there can be improvements like there are many times when somebody could expand or harass but he is doing sooooo much shit that they dont, or they dont explore certain area when they could etc, theres simply too much shit to do for a human to play near perfect.

indeed not true. people overall don't get shield upgrades often enough, they are expensive but it really makes a big difference in how fast units melt. part of the reason is that often units will take both shield and armor upgrades (say you have a 3-3-3 carrier facing goliaths, and the carrier lost all the shield but then regenerated one shield, that one shield ends up absorbing 7 rather than 1 damage - for some goliath shots, fully upgraded carriers will get 20 points damage reduction. And then you're looking at 12 rather than 18 damage coming through from a fully upgraded goliath, and then you know that when carriers fight they're retreating a lot so they're not under constant fire thus they might have shields for most of the shots they receive.

I love bw so much that even mentioning how plasma shields upgrade armor rather than rate of regeneration makes me rant about it

Pros are so much better at defending against cheese though because they dont shy to use a lot of workers

I just read the prize pool for this tournament was $13.5k for first, $2.7k for second, and $900 for 3rd-4th. Isn't this ridiculously small?

In his streams though he smashes everyone, including shuttle. some say he didnt really prep well because he couldnt be bothered with his streams, which he makes around 30k usd a month from not including sponsor money. his TVT i think is his weakest, i think for everyone that is the case in mirror matches since usually it's such a shitty coinflip. Bisu and Effort have difficulty beating him and BEST has also been getting his ass kicked when FLash went back in form

In sc2 I found TvT to be the only matchup where I could take a lot of the things i learned from brood war and put it into my game. In TvZ and TvP is was like an entire new game.... And for me in a very bad way

Agree that tvt is the least coinflippy matchup. what I meant about coinflippy isn't really how the term is used in poker. since these guys play in such a high level coinflippy could also mean unforgiving as most mirror matches are. zvz pvp tvt, you rarely see any comeback games from those mirror matchups since they're very dependent on early game skirmishes and build orders. having mirror builds ends up being a boring and long games, so it really depends on one or two skirmishes to dictate who wins the game. with noobs of course most make mistakes over and over and still recover, but in their levels in mirror games its just 2 at most and youre dead. unseige your tanks at the wrong time, go with too many tanks early vs wraiths, get doom dropped with 4 dropships on your way to the enemy base. that kind of thing.

oh wow those stats are unarguable, give his TvT winrate you can say a 0-3 result should be nearly impossible, that should give great insight in how important preparation and other factors are.
