I'll post all tourneys, even foreigner(heh) ones here to promote BW once again. Sure games are kinda suck without the Flash, Effort, Fantasy etc. Good thing is Savior and company could possibly play again since this is all being driven by fans. Lots of "risky" plays because players are less dependent on coaches and company sponsors (they make money mostly on their own streams on twitch/afreeca, think podcasting). This could all turn out a whole lot better since SBENU, the company owned by Sonic (the guy repsonsible for all of this) is now rumored to be worth millions of $$ and loves BroodWar more than anything. Have fun guys.

*Bisu, Effort, Jangbi, Zero, Savior are streaming BW in Afreeca but they don't seem to be at 100% yet. Still it's exciting to note that the scene is being done right this time to be the "chess" of Esports. If the money is good enough, I don't see any reason not to see Fantasy, Flash, Stork and the rest of those ex BW players not to switch. 40k usd for 1st prize in the last tourney is at par with older tourneys circa 2010, plus the fact that you're no corporate bitch and can just live off Afreeca streams and be almost completely autonomous in terms of deciding what to do with your time. It is both good and bad for game quality but it's a start

The recent champs are Mind, Last, Sea not really the most impressive games and honestly not worth one's time. But it has only gotten better each season and now sponsors and fans alike are getting more and more interested. Sonic even has a project which is called "esport" academy wherein pro esport players can have an education while playing so as to have a decent fallback after retiring. Companies in Korea do recognize that talent and dedication in BW required can fully be applied to a corporate career and this endeavor by Sonic is to correct whatever the pro BW scene failed to do to make it sustainable for new talent to be at least interested in building a career in esports without sacrificing one's education.

Isn't it possible to play it via battle.net ? I mean downloading the game from their bnet site. If you registered the game on it, you'd have no problems.
Either way, I know I won't play bw ever again. Sc2 is just better in every way except the strategic part. And even though the core of those games are the strategies, everything from sc2 is so much better that for me it's a better game, which is kinda sad.

I've been feeling sc2 been pretty amazing lately, sometimes I get goosbuns watching the top fights, and a lot of stuff I can't wait to watch. Don't want to derail the thread to much, but closing in on iem's world championship, and I think the price pool is 130.000k for sc2 alone.

just download the iccup version of broodwar to get iccup servers. then download the latest mca64 launcher (tons of new features, twitch to in game chat, etc) you can get it at TL, the launcher i mean. for Iccup broodwar just google it, around 90mb.

Let's get 8 people together and play some Race Wars this Friday/Saturday.

For anyone who doesn't remember what Race Wars is:

- You need at least 8 people to play.
- Host any 8-player map, obv. (The Hunters was the most popular pick, cuz it's like BGH, but with low minerals.)
- Scout the map to find the same race as you.
- Once you find the same race, ally up, and then play the game.
- It'll always be 3v3v2. I never ran into the problem of 4v3v1.

I wouldn't mind re-downloading BW and getting some games in, although I would without a doubt be the worst player by far lol

Watcing Bisu's stream is the sickest thing i seen since GG99Slayer's use of a mouse in real life so i can understand why he has 4000 viewers

Imo it is going to be really hard to find suitable opponent for this (bo100) in order to make it interesting as most probably the player who agrees to play u will be at least moderately better than u

At tl.net on the right under the sc bw streams. Mostly he is off compared to players such as larva shuttle and mong who are streaming most frequently

What was your ID? Did you go to any live WCG events?

At one point in time, I was friends with many of the top WC3 players in USA. However, that was during the early and middle wave of top USA players, 90% of them were already retired during the last wave.

I almost managed to turn pro, but didn't quite did it mostly cause i was like 14-15yo then and was pretty inexperienced about life overall so I took dumb decisions with teams. I've played with 80% of pros and with all of the top tier except for like that chinese guy ( Sky i think he was ). Good times overall. Ladder was badly made though, just became semi good when they introduced those top100 ? independent ladder, cause then pros actually started playing it and it was worth getting in it, cause you get to play against a large variety of pros w different styles on a daily basis and not with just a few of them which would practice w me at the time

so is there a channel on iccup? I'd like to at least obs a few lp member games
