enjoyed the post longple, you come across as a great and v likeable guy and im genuinely hoping you find the things you're looking for.

your attitude to money and happiness is extremely good and admirable, and not needing a high expense lifestyle to be happy is going to be incredible for your future prospects. You seem to have the important things figured out pretty well and have the balls to follow through. obv it would be ideal if you had managed to save a bit more money from the best days of poker, since that makes things much easier. however i doubt this is going to weigh on your chances of getting the most out of life / lasting happiness etc. i also agree that money and happiness have a seriously nonlinear relation and grinding a high hourly now is def not better than having a much lower hourly later in life if the thing you're doing later is making you more happy than grinding hard is now.

actually we met a few months ago but just in a casual setting with a big group of people. at the time you came across as a slightly introverted guy who's not quite satisfied with life and semi-thinking of ways to solve that - something that describes 23489235 guys i've met from poker and was me for years as well. in this setting in a first meeting we're not exactly going to get into these kinds of deep conversations, but it's great you share these thoughts on here. looks like you're taking the leap and going allin. that nervousness you're feeling now is exactly the awesome feeling that makes life worth living, and the next couple years of ur life are likely going to be some of ur most memorable ones.

Will reread your blog post again after.. but you mentioned snorkeling... I moved to the St Maarten earlier this year, and I bought a spear-gun and a Hawaiian sling.. I recommend it... its good fun as snorkeling on its own is gets boring, now I catch my own fish 2-3 times a week and get some decent exercise in while improving on a hobby I enjoy.... last time I went I caught 3 fish and a conch (sea snail)...was good eating and better fun.

that sounds awesome :D i could pick up that as a hobby at some point in time, thx for the tip will def keep it in mind!

i'm still trying to figure out how to deal with this cycle in a healthy and productive way. anytime i've ever accomplished anything difficult or that i was proud of has always come from feeling deeply unhappy about something. maybe a year ago i was probably at my peak happiness, everything from health to friendships to girls was better than i ever imagined it would be. but since then i've been gradually regressing in some ways because i got too comfortable.

idk, there has to be a more zen way to deal with it T_T

I think its just pretty normal, its the human way to adjust and kind of get blind to what they have, and when u lose something or feel like crap u gain perspectives to work for something or appriciate what u had/get wich i think is really important to have, perspectives that is. Everytime ull learn something from going through rougher times

I just found this site earlier tonight as i was googleing stuff http://www.bjjglobetrotters.com/the-...globetrotters/

"In 2010, I got the obvious idea of doing a round-the-world trip to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in as many places as possible. It was a long and intense experience that took me to 56 academies around the globe in 140 days. It resulted in a blog full of photos and I even wrote a book about it, when I got home."

Been watching alot of this guys videos and reading around on his site(s). Also snapordered the book.

Got me really really pumped and excited

booked some nights here and there at some hostels around bondi beach aswell as contacted a few gyms if they had enough free spots for me to just kinda drop by w my GI and start rolling.

leaving the 19th november, not to far away!

I am kind of interested in doing something like this too... Travel around the world with a group of poker players practicing BJJ/MMA and play poker part time.

I think the most depressing thing as a poker player is spending your entire life gambling and having your entire life go by while grinding a living "supposedly" living the life.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

It shouldn't because it obviously has nothing to do with you. Just a way of showing that those old clichés are not worth saying because they can be applied for ridiculously bad stuff as well. And it was not meant to be funny, only the first one was.

it just dosnt make sense to me what u would get out of doing that, people show support and mean well.

Maybe they dont mean anything to you but in this context it meant something to me, since my dreams arent really in line with hitlers

I believe in putting clichés in their rightful place because that is the only way of having real conversation. If PuertoRican means well then he can probably mean well by articulating his own thoughts instead of making a generic statement about following your dreams. I get that it's your blog and everything but it's not about you, it's just a general thing.

Fwiw, I also encourage you to do this soul-searching. I think posting the pictures mostly appeared bad to you because I didn't voice my support (it interrupted a stream of encouraging comments). Well, I don't exactly support everything you said but I support the motivation for your choosing to do them. I'm also completely with you when you say that you don't "really believe in the 'suffer now to live later' mentality". That's honestly a great insight; it's a belief that people with the grinder mentality would benefit from abandoning. Anyway, good luck with it all.

neither of those are popular sayings and are probably original compositions, a cliche is like always look on the bright side of life. so it doesn't make sense if you're trying to call puertorican a parrot because while it may be a platitude i am pretty sure it's his own thoughts

so your criticism is what they said is peachy and rosy and really all you're saying is you don't much care for their words

to which my question is if you are worried about the ontological emptiness of people saying meaningless things why not start at home?

or is that the pot calling the kettle black

also the point that platitudes can be applied to bad things is retarded, it's like going into a blog where someone posts about their new car and posting "i'm just saying this can be used to run people over also i believe in putting automobiles in their rightful place because that is the only way of having real transportation"

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen

instead of writing pretty much an exact replica (with less well formed sentences) of this post ill put in a +1

Please, lets leave it at that this will lead nowhere.

edit: i removed replyable content since its unecessary on my part to swing back again when ive already stated what i think of the post enough already.

I guess im not done ^^

I think they wouldnt have appeared anything different to me given the way you did it and under what circumstances even if i would take myself out from the equation and there was a different persons blog (with similair content). My speakup and reply ratio would probably be lower if it wasnt my blog tho since i feel like i have some authority to speak up against what i think is wrong/bad in "my own" blog.

Thanks for this part of your comment tho, as it actually contributes to some positivity I believe its a good insight to have aswell.

The point is not that "platitudes can be applied to bad things". It's that nobody is in a place to know what someone "following his dreams" will result in. The person doesn't have to be evil like Hitler; if the person is naive or delusional, it's probably not going to turn out well for them (and for the other people that are impacted by that person). PuertoRican's post seemed to me like it was not personal at all--he wasn't saying that longple is unique and one of the few who should pursue their dreams and that will accomplish great things. The statement was made in a universal way. Frankly, the whole statement is something I would not be surprised to find in a fortune cookie, which as you might know is not meant to be a personalized statement that fits you and your Zodiac sign or whatever.

Your analogy is awful and makes absolutely no sense. You also made it unfair to me so as to go for comedic value, as if it was outlandish of me to remark that clichés and platitudes do not in any way stimulate genuine, thoughtful conversation. The other annoying thing is that in trivializing my point you basically defend the idea that only people with good dreams are the ones who have been given the advice of following them, which we all know to be untrue. You proceeded to imagine my post but you don't mention the initial post I would be responding to, which is also silly and carelessly unfair. It would be more fair to say that someone first encouraged the car owner to ignore that he could do something reckless/harmful with it, and instead guaranteed that no matter what he does--even if it's driving drunk--great things will happen.

I'll just finish this by saying that I've read a few of your posts and generally find them to be incomprehensible or trollish. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt by replying this time but if that's as good as your posts get and you plan on replying to me in the same way you can be sure I won't bother again.
