Jones is smart and it is obvious that he extends his left arm in front of the face of his opponent to block his vision not to poke him in the eye.And Glover is very tough,very strong and very hard to beat.He was cut but not really hurt through out the whole fight.Respect!And after what i saw i think Glove beats DC pretty easy and is coinflip aginst Alexander.And i would like to see Glover vs Rumble(both swing to the fences so it is going to be great).

I wonder what my chances are vs Jones if I get to have a Sword, I'm sure I'd have some chance.

When its comes to professional MMA i don't think that his style is dirty, he just knows all of his strengths and abuses them to full extend. If you know certain things will give you edge why wouldn't he use them. He s willing to put his fingers in people's eyes, but the chances of that happening aren't that high and you can see he is more careful if he does it once. Only dirty thing about him is that he s fighting in the LHW and not in the HW imo where his edge wouldn't be near as high. Plus obv he ll be happy if he hurts his opponent, its his job. Yeah I it felt quite nasty to me too when he said that, but when you think about it its the same as getting it in set over set and hitting your 1 outer, you ll be happy although its nasty. Its just that we have this self preservation feeling when it comes to psychical injury which is natural, but when its your job to psychically dominate in front of a crowd your mindset should be different too. Its also one of the reasons i still have this weird bad feeling when I watch fighting events, makes me like somethings s wrong cause I as a fan contribute to those people making them want to hurt each other, if there were no fans, there would be no events, and there would be no fight :/

I don't see how you can say his eyepokes are not dirty. If that's not dirty I don't know what kind of extremist definition of the word we're using here. He doesn't poison them before the fights?

agreed, but they just dont care. the key word you used is destroy. its the thing which makes jones different from someone like bernard hopkins. bhop is basically a tactician who uses any small edge he can to push himself to narrow victories. jones is a vicious and dangerous man who does anything he can to destroy his opponent.

jones, palhares and probably a slew of other MMA fighters seem like they are basically psychopaths. they fundamentally dont care if things are dirty, if they think it is legal they just want so bad to destroy their opponent they are willing to do it. no fucks given whatsoever. it would be nice if everyone treated it like a sport and used gamesmanship similar to guys like machida or maia but not everyone is like that.

its hard to say where the line between "exploiting something in the rules" and "dirty" is. for instance, i dont think it was dirty when korean zombie dislocated his shoulder against aldo and aldo noticed it and immediately kicked him there as hard as he could 4-5 times. i dont really think it was dirty when dustin poirier said he heard akira corrisani had nose surgery and he was aiming for his nose the whole fight. but at the same time these things are vicious and you need to be kinda fucked up to take advantage of them.

but there are things i think are clearly dirty. for instance taking advantage of the warning system and putting your fingers in people eyes, grabbing the fence once a fight, hammer fists or elbows to close to the back of the head, etc. basically really pushing the boundaries of things that arent allowed by exploiting the fact that the ref wont take a point away until youve committed an offense multiple times.

jones is willing to do both of these types of things and is certainly a dirty fighter in my book. intent wise im not sure hes conscious of it, i think he just wants so badly to crush his opponent he does everything he thinks is legal to do so, but in this case intent is a distinction without a difference.

Actually its not that difficult to find nice people like him but as you are pointing out high level MMA probably attracts very vicious and aggressive people in the first place.

The only thing dirtier than eye pokes would be groin shots or hits to the back of the head IMO. The thing with eye pokes is that in the UFC it's not punished hard enough and there is plausible deniability. Jones did those eye pokes, but from an EV standpoint, why shouldn't he? He got away with two of them and probably did considerable damage for free, he even got a little breather when the ref scolded him.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that only 1 illegal move should be allowed before a point is taken away.

It's completely legal. Yet there isn't any other grappling that purposefully injures you without giving any chance to tap at all. It's kinda strange. I wanna say its dirty and ruthless but I dunno. That might just be my hate for Jones and if Weidman did it I might praise him for being so gangster.

wat... its perfectly fine and of couse you are free to tap at any time, Jones cranked him like 4 times

I've tried to use that as a sub from guard a bunch, never seen it when standing. Not sure what to think, probably fine? Are there any rules against like straight cranking a heelhook or something in a similar motion?

I don't feel it is dirty but it is absolutely vicious and brilliant. I can definitely see an argument for making it illegal because there's no tapping point. You're just getting your shit ripped apart.

No i think eye poking is bad for the sport.The groin shots are much worse and so are holding submissions and hitting unconcious men to show what beast you are! What do you think about the guys who hit as hard as they can people who are already cold?Is it good sportsmanship or do yoy think it is not dangerous?I have never heard someone complaining about this.Why????Because it is for good meassure right?Very smart!
I said this about the fanboys because alot of people start making shits about Jones just because they can not take that he is 10 times better P4P fighter than Anderson and any other fighter in the history of the UFC has ever been.
Jones is 26,he is smart,his attitude brings the sport to a new level(when you see him fight alot of people who are not MMA fans appreciate what he is doing).He acts mature,talking things that actually make sense ,not dancing like a popstar from the 80's (usually )Even Fedor who is my favourite fighter of all time has not beat such guys one after another.It is unbelievable.
