The biggest draft in the history of poker games is done and 48 players have been assigned to join the 12 teams in the first ever Global Poker League. Teams were allowed to draft from a list of 203 players hand-selected from the top 1000 players from the Global Poker Index database.

Each team manager was allowed to pick players practically from anywhere in the world, regardless of their nationality or current geographic location.

Teams picked four players today but they are also still allowed an two extra “wildcards”, which doesn’t have to necessarily be even GPL eligible.

Interestingly a couple players dropped out of the Global Poker League at very short notice. Antonio Esfandiari and Canadian grinder Shawn Buchanan had to get out of the GPL pool due to their personal reasons.

Lot of really good teams. I would choose San Fran.

Can we bet on this some how?
