We informed you earlier about the drastic changes coming to PokerStars VIP Club - cutting players rakeback and of course someone proposed a joint strike by players who are affected the most by the changes. After a post on the TwoPlusTwo forum was created and then a thread on the Russian Gipsyteam forum also started gathering players, the plans became a reality.
The take off was huge, thanks to Dani "Ansky" Stern who managed the plans. By now the number of planned participants has grown to well over 1,000 and that list includes some of the most popular internet players.
"We are organizing a strike/boycott of PokerStars from December 1-3, starting at 12:01 a.m. EST," Stern wrote in the TwoPlusTwo thread. "We ask everyone who values the game of poker at all, recreational or pro, to show their support. We especially ask those who put in high volume on Stars to do so. Please do not play a hand of poker on PokerStars for those 72 hours. It goes without saying that games are likely to be softer on those days, and we hope that you can resist the urge to play because of that. I truly believe that these changes will bring about devastating effects to the online poker community."
The strike will see players sitting out from the games, but a huge number of players also plans to make huge withdrawals, draining their accounts.
Amongst the famous players who intend to join the action we can see: Ben "Ben86" Tollerene, Dan "Danny98765" Smith, JC "PrtyPsux" Alvarado, Peter "Apathy123" Jetten, Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond, Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgaard, Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo, Jack "jackziyang" Salter, Doug "WCGRider" Polk, Sebastian "taktloss47" Ruthenberg, Mike "tîmex" McDonald, Emil "Maroonlime" Patel, Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, Steve "Mr. Tim Caum" O’Dwyer, Timothy "tim0thee" Adams, Nick "nabourisk" Abou Risk, and Elio "smokrockflock" Fox.

I'am a supernova and have started the strike allready.
I haven't played a single hand since the announcement, so no hands in november.
In for the strike as well. Going to start playing somewhere else next yearif these changes happen.
I really hope some other poker room sees the opportunity here and builds a customer oriented system.
Now Ivey, patrik, galfold etc would be a great time to hit hte market with a new room with a moderate rake and a
real poker room without lotteries.
It disgusts me to think that someone at stars is thinking "100mil a month is not enough profit, we need 150mil"

Why not go on a 6 month self exclusion strike and show them you're serious. Stars will not give in to this 'strike'. They know you're all addicited to the pokerz. |

why would they start a poker room though? if it works, low rake + low market share = no money. if it doesn't work, new poker rooms suck and go under = negative money |

It seems to be not very profitable in the long run to play those kind of hands. - Gus Hansen | |

But I won't join because it's advertised as strike and going on strike is brainless and sickening thing to do. |

The boycott worked with the French pokerstars for 2-3 days. And we brought the rake to 4% instead of 6% so why not ? It simply won't happen if everyone start to think like you. Poker stars is already greedy as fuck here in France, so if they start to do the same shit in your country, you can be sure shit will hit the fan. |

If you present an option with more incentive to play, then you will steal their market share.
Low rake = high market share = mucho money.
Stars makes over a billion a year. There's plenty of marketshare to go around to make it worth their while. |

PokerStars might be greedy as fuck in France but is certainly not as greedy as french government.
But seriously PokerStars being greedy is great great great thing. If they want more money it means they have to offer better services, acquire new players, etc. If they won't do that, someone else will take over their position eventually. Only problem is french government which fucks over PS and interferes new companies from entering the market.
