Do you do this as standard against a reg?
I weight his range heavily towards pocket pairs and some Ahigh + Knk

I almost want to barrel just to get a decent read ;P

I think a barrel is fine. You'll want to take a mental note of his timing on calling the turn bet; some people snap call TT on turn whereas some tank. That will usually give you an idea of how they think of these hands.
