So I live with two room mates in a pretty nice upper middle class neighborhood in the states. I am a huge fan of scary movies and have watched probably every notable one to date so I am quite paranoid about people breaking into my house and murdering and torturing us, more so then taking our vast amount of valuables. But last night something happened it was very hard to explain...I woke up in the exact same position with a dude with a knife over me like ten times in a row and I couldn't move and i tried to scream for help but no one heard even though my buddies room is next door. After all of that repeated many times in a row I woke up in the exact same position that I was in after it happened but the guy with a knife was not there. I am crazy.

And yeah poker is ok payin billz n shit

that's not a lucid dream...

A lucid dream is being aware you are sleeping, and you are able to consciously decide what happens in your dream.

What you had is termed as a 'night terror' there are many other examples of this happening. Sometimes the person is fully awake, and not dreaming, however they are unable to move with a sleep paralysis (where your mind forgets to unlock your limbs making it feel like you can't scream/move).

Say this outloud! Why was six afraid of seven?......Because Seven Eight Nine

hahaha i know that guy wasn't there it was just weird that it was just exactly the same as when i woke up as it was in the dreams but the only difference was when i actually did wake up the guy wasn't there but it felt the same as it did in the dreams when i woke up. You're right i just googled lucid dreams and I had the wrong definition, I'm talking about completely surreal dreams where all of the surroundings, noises, and feelings feel just like reality. Trippy shit i might not sleep for awhile.
Edit: Also when I did actually wakeup I couldn't talk or move for awhile, Just like in the dreams, but that happens to me a lot. It sometimes takes minutes for me to convince myself to move my body. Byrnesame had it right sleep paralysis is it fuck fuck this sucks..

i had the greatest dream of my life last night where i was getting laid in a threesome and it was the closest thing ive ever had to a lucid dream. everything was going perfect except i didnt know it was a dream so i guess it doesnt count. normally when im in getting laid dreams i have a really hard time getting the dream to progress to actual sex. this was DEFINITELY not the case last night.

wait wha?

Yea, this is definitely sleep paralysis. I've had this on and off for the past several years, though haven't had one in a long while. Just try to get a regular sleep cycle/schedule and try not to take naps.

what if he was real, he just chose not to kill you that night.

he just continually stands over your bed whilst youre sleeping... waiting....

that same thing happened to me
i woke up and everything looked so real it was my bedroom, i could hear my heart beating and my lungs breathing, and i woke up in my bedroom and to my right was this dead corpse and im like holy shit, so i say this must be a dream and i close my eyes for 5 seconds open them, and this dead corpse is to the right of me and so now i'm thinking okay maybe this is not a dream so i put my right hand in the dead corpse's face to see if i can feel it or if its a hallucination, the second my hand touches its face, it awakens and screaming its head off violently and moves its head away from my hand and then goes back to just lying dead. So i didn't try to touch it again. Then I couldn't move, frozen i couldn't move my fucking arm anymore. So then i knew this was a dream, so i close my eyes for 15 seconds, open them and the corpse is gone and i can move.
then i went back to sleep to see if this would happen again and it happened like 5-6 times more. different scenarios tho, 1 time i was trying to scream and nothing was coming out.
pretty awesome experience imo, i enjoyed it.
