this is a concept i have been battling with ever since i started trying to play poker profitably. i played about 130K hands at 10NL and i found out the best way to beat these low limit steaks is to simply value bet big when you have it, and cbet small and bluff small when you do not. it is very ez to win playing face up at these steaks (no squeezing, no trying to outplay IP, ect)

i have moved up to 25NL a few nights ago. here are a few hands that i think may be borderline spew.

this first one i think is played fine. im showing this too illustrate my understanding of equity.

in this hand i know my villian can have any PP (his pf action call, call lets me know this), or really 2 spades with the call on the flop.
i bet the flop with the intent of shoving a non space, ace , king turn. is this correct thinking? or should i check/call and check/fold a non spade, ace , king river? im pretty positive that the turn shuv was correct.

this hand i 3 bet my JJ OOP to his late raise hoping for value or a call and dry flop fold from him.. if i flop the overpair i am willing to get it allin. can his flop raise/call be spades or a 10 enuff for me to get value? im sure he has other PP's and stupid shit lots of times to make up for it. he is not full stacked which makes me beleive he is a fish. so i shove these players all day in similer situations. correct?

this hand is somewhat smiler but more difficult because he has me covered and i fear a raise. i also dont want to check becuase it seems very weak and i dont want to be bumped off the best hand. id rather bet, there is more equity in it. the reason i bet the flop is to tax the hearts and value smaller PP's who will call here multiway. the turn bet is as well to tax a heart draw and a strait draw. also to get value from PP smaller than i or mybe a weaker 10. when the jack comes on the river im almost positive that he does not have a jack so i go for a value bet.

this is more of a logic question here about betting for value. am i trying to bet to thin? should these be check calls? should these be played differently? thx for the opinions.

hand 1 is fine.

hand 2 he has $14, you have an overpair dont overthink it. looks good.

hand 3 some info about villain would be nice. but in general i think flop/turn is fine, although i'd bet the turn bigger. your reasoning for betting doesnt make sense though. you shouldnt want to bet just bcuz you dont want to appear weak and get bluffed off the best hand. youre in position anyway, so he doesnt have as many opportunities to bluff you now that he checked the flop already. also, you wont be pushed off the best hand bcuz if you check behind the flop and he bets the turn you can just call. a bet is good though, youll get called by worse Tx, Jx, draws, and maybe other crap and youre ahead of this range. same on the turn. i'd prob check behind the river though. from the hands that we were getting value from, we arent going to get value out of anymore. draws wont call this river bet, youre chopping with Tx, and youre going to valuetown yourself vs Jx. unless hes some huge station who calls down with 77 here or something i'd just check behind the river.

think about his range from street to street and the portion of that range youre getting value from. in this hand the portion you were getting value out of on the flop/turn (Tx, draws) you cant get anymore value out of on the river.

that being said, the fishier the villain in hand 3 is, the more likely i am to value bet the river since he'll prob have more stupid things in his range that he'll call with, like KQ or something.

hand one, i c/r flop, if his cbet is higher than 66%, hand two, your 3 bet sizing preflop is terrible, hand 3 i got bored of looking so i didnt read, but probably bet more.

Lines looks good to me generally but you need to bet more when 3betting, on flop, turn. I bet more on turn in 3 and I always vbet river here but size it so that Ace high can call (at least is tempted) as well as underpairs (unless he is very bluffy then I guess a check may be best as any shove is going to put you in a tough spot) - $4-5 looks ok to me.

The AK hand is good I think.

Raise more with the JJ hand preflop, to small I think.

Bet bigger on the flop with JJ, also read dependant on what you do from there, I'd also make the turn bet a tad bigger, and check river if he calls it.

1. good, either this or c/r flop. i like sizing, you give him room to spazz out a bit

2. perfect, but i reraise a bit more pf tough

3.your sizing here is kind of meh. i prefer a check behind on turn. river looks good

don't think you know what equity means. Also you bet small when you have a mediocre hand. that is pretty bad
