ok so i have a maxtor one touch 4 plus 500gb external HD. a while ago i lost the power supply and used my laptop power supply cuz it fit. well needless to say idk if it was fried before, but the power is failing now either way even after finding the correct power supply. i plug it into the power strip and the LED light just blinks and my computer doesnt recognize it. i was going to sned it into maxtor/seagate to get it replaced but i dont have the installation guide or installation cd, so that appears out the window. any suggestions?
i read somewhere i could take the harddrive out of the casing and put it into my actual tower, which wouldnt be such a bad idea given i have one HD in my cpu failing due to a SMART event. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
