So I basically am letting myself play as well as I know I can..

Uhm.. I got set-over-set today with $500 stacks and I got away for $75. That means I've gotten set-over-set'd about once every 250 fucking hands in the last 7 sessions.

But in any case I'm really, really happy with how I played today. I broke-even but I think I played every hand very well. I guess that feels good.

Also myth moved into our summer house and I'm going to join him over there, uh, probably tomorrow since its likely I'm going to be asleep all day today. Fook I just set up my computer here and now I have to move it Q_Q

.......
I can't fucking believe I got over set'd again.

Would like to know what are the odds for set over set ... if u get a pp 1 out of 16 hands (am i right ?) and hit a set 1 out of 7 times, then it should be something like:

1/16*1/16 = odds for both holding pps then that s 1 to 256

Then 1/256*1/7*1/7 in order to both hit sets on the flop that s 1 to 12544 ? Obviously not talking about who has the better pair and whatnot, overall on the long run we know cards should even and u dont suffer from sets over sets because half the time you have the bigger pair assuming everybody play their pps (there a ton lot of factors but just out of curiosity).

Odds are exactly 50%: it either happens or not

I don't feel like figuring it out, sorry bro.
Odds aren't that far against (ie not 1:256) that 2 people hold pocket pairs preflop in a 9 or 10 handed game, though

whoa. how did the hand play out that you could fold a set?

I don't feel like this particular fold was very impressive but its more the idea of me folding when I know I ought to and trusting myself. It also helped that I had bottom set (though I'd probably fold anything but top or 2nd top set here or a straight obv)
1-3 game, $500 effective behing
I limp 22 UTG+1, older guy who is pretty tight but can bluff sometimes raises to $20, nitty shortstacked tard calls in the blinds ($150 behind)

Flop A29r.
Nit checks, I check, old guy checks

Turn 5r
Nit checks, I bet $55 into the ~$60
Old guy tanks, talks a good bit, and raises to $190
Nit/retard calls off his stack (pretty sure he has 2pair or a set here, I fold due to old guy's line)
I fold

Oldguy has AA
Nit mucks 2pair

I was so impressed with myself that I put the hand aside so the dealer could show it but he absentmindedly mucked it anyway. I told the table I had 22 just cuz I was so impressed with myself (I won't do this again as I think its -ev but w/e).

It was really funny because the old guy's mind was completely blown and he was internally freaking out about how transparent he was. He brought up the hand multiple times over the next 4 hours trying to get me to tell him how I figured out he had top set haha.

nice fold! i probably would've called it off. someone told me never to fold a set in a live game. he had a set pretty deep with lots of action and was thinking of folding...but went what the heck "set" and won. but trust your reads!

I think you can probably fold a set a lot more confidently live than online, though it depends on the circumstances.

I hate those fucking old guys that play live, just sit there and fold every hand waiting for AA/KK.

lol ya I was sweating the river so hard after I folded, like, "this is going to be the one time this month I would of hit quads, just as the ultimate slap in the face"
