Ok guys, now that I am sufficiently rolled for NL100 ($5800 after paying 1k in debts and a $150 cash out for my self *800 cashed out this month*)

I'm now going to play NL100 6max during the weeks, and play MTT's on stakes during the weekends at 50/50 (around 1k for sundays and I will most likely play with my own money on saturdays)

I'll be allowing myself to play sessions of Heads up now as well, as long as I have 100+ buy-ins for the heads up limit then I will allow myself to play it if its the weekend or if I believe I have a strong edge.

This addresses my three most profitable areas of poker, with very little risk. 6max during most times, hu mostly on fridays and saturdays when its weakest, and mtt's sundays when the overlays are the largest and a few others during the week.

My next goal is to reach 12k+ (nl200 roll) , I'm allowing myself to cashout whenever I want to now as well.

Overall, I'm aiming for
2+bb at 6max (16-max tabling)
4+bb at HU (2-8 tabling)
$0-$10M/day MTT (1-20 tabling)

I love all ya, appreciate your support, and I'm sure some of you will "think" allowing myself to play hu is a degen move or whatever, which is not the case. I am extremely profitable HU, I just never understood bankroll management years ago when I allowed myself to play it. I also chased loses like a motherfucker and I didn't time my cashgame sesions like I do now. I will always have 100+ bi for MTT and Heads Up. If I don't, then I will send anyone $100 cash money who would spot me on any of those tables.

This is how I'm going to play, I'm 100% confident that I will do my best and succeed, and these are my best game choices.

NL100 6max
NL50 HU
MTTs that I have 100bi for
Sunday staked tournaments

GL LP,
Ryan

So I'm just going to point this out, but I think this is the second time you changed up your approach. First I believe you said 20bi at each limit; you said you worked out a leak and were confident at NL100. I believe you.

Second I believe you said HU two limits below, but now it's one limit below.

While I totally believe that you are very +EV at every limit you are currently playing, and I sincerely do believe that you have changed, I'm sure you understand pushing the first few dominoes might knock the whole thing down. Even if you know you've completely left your old degen ways, don't forget your track record!

That being said, you're doing awesome and I'll be at the rail if anyone makes a thread. GL!

i appreciate your advice edzwoo, but i must also point out that playing nl50 hu with 118 bi is very safe

My approach changes a lot, but mostly after talks with good friends/players

This realization to allow myself to play NL50 HU came after a long talk with my roomate and fellow LP'er GSR_01_INTEG, and I will not play HU vs any players at my own limit. This may change if I make it to NL400-NL1k and find weak players sitting HU, but for the time being (until I hit nl400 which could take 2 months to many years) then I will be playing 1 limit below with HU (nl100 6m - nl50 hu / nl200 6m = nl50 and nl100 hu / nl400 - nl50 hu - nl400 hu if I can beat the games)

I'm also going to be playing around 80% 6max and 20% MTT and HU, its not like im switching to HU purely hehe

how you achieve this being busto already ;]

being extremely profitable at HU and having bankroll management issues is an oxymoron

let me rephrase nolan, i am extremely profitable at hu, but when i was a hu player, i didn't understand br management and always moved up on 2-20 bi. now that im going to play it within my roll 100%, the profitability should/will shine through

mysticjoey - your not too funny, i see your little pun because i busted in the past, but what I said is obviously from here on out, w/ bankroll management. I'm very very very very confident bust is nowhere near my future. Maybe ROBUSTO though :-)

Neilly, you have obsurd potential - if you stay discplined and focused there's no point of saying good luck, because luck wont matter

I am totally in the edzwoo boat.

U did great in the past weeks and while i also believe that u are very +EV no matter 6max FR or HU Nl50 and Nl100,
there allready shines this little degen through your posts again.

Ure rules were teh following
1.) U will win 20BI at every limit to make sure u beat it before u move up
2.) U will only play little tournaments within your BR
3.) U will not play HU unless u are a regular at 2 levels above

1.) Ure breakeven at NL50 for 30K hands ? fuck this u won some tourney and move up to NL100
2.) fuck this u invest 2,5K while having a 10K roll in sunday tournaments .... ( And that is definitely degen ! lucky u boxed the 3r again <3)
3.) Now u play HU Nl50 even though u are not a proven Nl200 winner yet ( I know you can beat Nl200 ... but what counts is only teh results and not the theory)

So what is next ?

U have 29BI for NL200 FR and u have a 25K hand sample size of 1 year ago where u beat it decently .... maybe u should try ?
Well lol u have close to 15 BI for Nl400 even ... 1 lucky session and u can almost double your roll ?

be carful Neilly
your old habits are not dead .
Its just that u can control them atm .... As soon as u leave them room ure back in the old shit again

U see what i did there with A8 ? He 4 bets and there we go insta jam A8 : ---booooom -- . hahahaha ( Krantz)Last edit: 02/03/2009 20:26

PPlus, I moved up from nl50 to nl100 because I knew 100% I was ready, and I had bounced back around 10 be from the 0 bi downswing I had (where I learned a ton of my leaks with the help of lostaccount and pokertracker3) and i won some tournaments before putting the time in to get +20bi on it, and tbh i really didn't care about nl50 at all, its nothing compared to NL100 (which has been my goal for months). I don't consider that breaking a rule, I consider that common sense.

I'm playing NL100 6max the vast majority of my games, but I really enjoy hu and mtt's too, so I will make this the rule. I need atleast 101+ bi for any HU or MTT game unless im staked for it, thanks for helping me fix this before it could have gotten out of hand.

I see the hypothetical statement you posted, and understand it, but I will not play outside my roll 1 time. I HAVE learned bankroll management, and I EXCELL in it. I have NOT played outside my roll at all in a long long time, and never intend too.

I had talks with some very good players before coming to these decisions, its not like I just said OK FUCK IT IM GONNA PLAY SOME HEAD UP NOW, because if you believe that, you are sadly mistaken.

I'm extremely happy to be a nl100 player, i believe im good enough an am considered a reg although my sample is still small, and mtts and hu is only to be played on the side, less than 30% of my play.

oh, i played the 2.5k in mtt's, but my staker was also kinda forcing me to play the $500 tournament, and i talked with a great player the night b4 and he told me i should be using my weekly cashgame winnings to hit one big on the weekends with my mtt talent, which is why i invested so much. I wanted to get off the stake asap, and if i lost, i still would have had around 8k (a very healthy nL100 roll) to continue on my mission to 15k

Now my mission is $147,000+ by dec 31st, as originally stated

I've also updated the guide in my blog and on my desktop

Thanks for pointing out any misdirection, I will continue with my plan, but now its revised with your help guys, NL100 player and MTT/HU player as long as I have 100+ bi, and ill play staked tournaments (my past staker is going to give me around 1k every sunday at 50/50 for the sundays with makeup obv)
