2/4 isnt going to well so far, or rather Im playing really bad. I think what Im going through is very standard after a long stretch of solid results. I start taking winning for granted and my play gets affected by it so when I start running bad I play spewy etc.
Luckily, I realized this early on, cashed out and dropped down to 2/4 to get my A-game back. Due to the fact that ive been playing 2/4 I havent lost much even though Ive been playing pretty horrible. Thanks all terrible 2/4 regs. Speaking of regs, I 4-tabled a 5/10 reg today on 2/4 and after like 30 min of berating me and telling me how i sucked he left claiming i was "too lucky". Keep on rocking champ...
Enough ranting and lets get to the point. Ive been toying with the thought of taking a break for a few days(allthough just finished a +2k session so im probably not taking a break after all) but I dont really have much to do during the days except hang out with friends and play dota. Both are getting pretty tiresome and I need stuff to read.
So hopefully you guys can help me and recommend a good book.
I hate crime books, popular history books about wars and stuff(like the trilogy about ceasar or w/e) and I vomit on all kinds of da vinci code type of books.
Cant really specify more than that, all I have at home right now is ulysses and moby dick but they are both in english and they just drain my energy totally after like 20 pages.
GOGO

I will go with my standard recommendation:
number9dream by David Mitchell
Also, Ghost Written and Cloud Atlas, both by David Mitchell as well. Some of my favorite books of all time, I'd try to describe them but I'm too sleepy to do them justice =[
Very unique and very good books, Ghost Written and Cloud Atlas have a little bit of sci-fi to them (some parts being set in the future) whereas number9dream is pretty much set in present day tokyo.
I don't really wanna say too much cause I feel that kinda spoils some things about them, but they are really good reads.
I guess this description from wikipedia is alright:
| Ghostwritten is the first novel published by the author David Mitchell. Published in 1999, it won the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize and was widely acclaimed. The story takes place mainly around East Asia, but also moves through Russia, Britain and the USA. It is written episodically; each chapter details a different story and central character, although they are all interlinked through seemingly coincidental events. Many of the themes from Ghostwritten continue in Mitchell's subsequent novels, number9dream and Cloud Atlas. |
If you've ever read anything by Haruki Murakami, the style is a bit similiar (oh btw, I recommend his books too, at least dance, dance, dance, not read anything else yet).
Mm some other recommendations:
Good Omens - by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, very funny, very well worth reading.
The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. If you haven't read this you obv. should. |

if you think you could like sci-fi i can recommend pretty much any book of Arthur C Clarke, hes the writer of Kubricks 2001: A Space Oddysey for example.
I dunno i like classic books like the one you mentioned (moby). Dr jekyll and mr hyde maybe! The count of monte christo. |

Well if u like Fantasy books
Riftwar Saga by Raymond Feist is the best fantasy shit ive ever read in my life ( lord of the rings is a baby joke compared to this)
Riftwar Saga is originally 4 books each 400-600 pages
Magician: Apprentice
Magician: Master
Silverthorn
A Darkness at Sethanon
Its part of the big Midkemia Saga by Raymond Feist ( like 30 books or so)
So if u like Fantasy u have like 2000pages of a sick fantasy journey here

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! Let me try and specify a bit. I dont want any fantasy(wasted enough time on those when I was 10-14) and I definitely dont want the gossip girl books(lol)
I dont mind heavy stuff, like, If I learn something about life while reading thats always a plus.
I never really liked Nietzsche all that much but I might give him a go after all. |

Harry Potter ? If you haven't read it yet, the books are incredibly popular for a reason.
If you think you'll like sci-fi, I would recommend the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov.
If you want a book that has been great for generations and will remain so for the forseeable future, read Sherlock Holmes.
If you think you will like fantasy and have read or do not want to read Lord of the Rings, try Wheel of Time. If you have not read Lord of the Rings and don't have a reason to think you won't like it, read it. Awesome book.
If you care for old foreign classics, try Dumas The Three Musketeers or Count of Monte Cristo. Both are very entertaining light adventure books.
If you want something great and funny, read Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
If like military novels, Tom Clancy has a great series about Jack Ryan. The first is The Hunt for the Red October. Try it out. If you like it, there are three more books about this character.
The books I have listed represent some of the best in their respective categories. There are no "must read to make yourself a better person" books here such as say War and Peace or some of Dostoevsky's works. These are all entertaining books that you read for fun.

ohh and as far as fantasy goes there is a new series of books out that are far better than the lord of the rings imo and are getting very good reviews etc.
Song of fire and ice - crown of kings (and there are like 3 more and he is currently in the process of writing another one) George R. R. Martin |

First book I read from him was "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", I didn't have a clue of wtf he was talking about, because it was one of his last books written in a very anorthodox style. I then understood that you have to read his earlier works in order to get it, and even then not entirely (me at least lol), because of the style. I think the crappy translation played a part in my failure too.
The book I suggested is written in a more conventional way ,it essentially sums up many of the ideas presented in his previous book,"Human, all too human".Many tough truths that you kind of subconsiously knew, many revealing views and also many disturbing ideas that you can't easily accept in both books.
tbh Nietzsce books cause agony and not fullfillment, the kind of agony that comes with deeper understanding of things though.
