When you are having a doomswitch...
like...
1) losing top 2 pair all-in on the turn, losing to a 2 outer on the river by him catching a set.
2) losing top set all in on flop to catching turn/river one out for 4 of a kind
3) losing 4 of a kind to a straight flush caught on turn allin on flop
4) losing AA to 77 allin preflop, and him catching a 7
5) losing nut straight to nutflush on river
6) losing JJ on AJ4 flop to QQ by villian catching K10 on turn/river

You start to wonder if poker really is as skill involved as you thought. I thought I had an advantage in poker against my opponents, I thought I could win with a decent bb/100. I thought poker was not a pure gamble. I started to notice at NL5/NL10 villians shoving AQo UTG and folding when you make a normal sized raise 4xbb+1 with a premium hand PF. You wonder where has your edge gone?

My bankroll dropped from $275 down to $150.

So I quit for a few days, I quit playing for about a week after I lost 11 buyins. Of course not all of it was bad beats. I became tilted, I succumbed to open shoving PF with hands such as KQs, and then it hit me. What the fuck was I doing? I started to realize I could no longer play like this an think it was profitable. So I dropped back down to NL2 and I grinded for a little, I grinded for about 4 hours and ended up 4 buyins. I stopped playing 9 tables, and played 4 to re-evaluate my game and think about the hands I was playing and not playing roboitcally. This helped.

In the 4 hours I played today, I ran like shit. Not once did I get AA, KK or QQ. Instead, I got AQo, 44, QJo, and I just outplayed my opponents postflop. When they showed they were weak, I bet and they folded. When they showed they were strong, I check/folded. I did get into one risky spot with AJ on AK5 rainbow board, He had A10 though so I was lucky, but then again, why call with A10o from out of position against me?

Good luck everyone at the tables. There is an abandoned prison by my house, so I might go out later this week and take some pictures of it.

?

depends imo
As long as ure edge is big enough luck doesnt matter too much ( of course it still matters a bit shortterm)
But when ure edge is marginal Variance and Luck have insane influence on your results ....
u could go like +6BB/100 for 12 K hands and suddenly be a loser for -6BB/100 next 12 K hands easy....

Its not enough to just play solid
U have to know where the money comes from that u make ( What is the edge .. why are u better than other players)

GL
