ended my poker ban 2 days ago and I'm down $613 in 4k hands of 100NL (bulk of it = 6max)
I'm trying to decide whether I should drop down to 50 to regain some confidence or just figure out where I'm leaking at 100...

I know how you feel - good luck though, try changing sites if you haven't.. clear a bonus on a site you haven't before. The combination of extra money and new feel of software will make you focus more and concentrate imo. Let me know how it goes if you try it - leave a message on my msn because I'll be gone til Sunday. |

Depends on your roll. If you have less than 20 buyins for NL100, definitely drop down. If less than 25 buyins, probably yes. If more, you are probably ok.
But here are other things to consider. Were you ever winning at NL100 over a significant number of hands in a manner that suggested that you were beating the stakes rather than simply running hot? If the answer is yes and you are rolled to play NL100 properly, I would suggest going down in number of tables you play and taking more time to think about each play you make. Drop down to 2-3 tables if you need to. Really try to do some multi-level thinking and work on putting your opponents on a hand. Once you start winning again and regain confidence, start adding tables up to your normal amount. Though in my experience with 6-max anything more than 6 gets to be excessive--the regulars I see playing 8+ tables seem to not do that great when I'm at the table, unless they get no brainer hands like a flopped set vs fish. I am sure there are a lot of winning players out there who play 8+ tables, but at least just as many are doing themselves a disfavor by playing so many at once.
Also, do not look down on playing too few tables as something that would limit your potential profit. I have had sessions where I was playing some tournaments and added a few cash tables to fill space, and I made 2-4 buyins at 2-3 tables in the span of an hour or two.
If you try playing fewer tables and are still losing, drop down to NL50.
Finally, you need to dig in and realize why you are losing. Look at some of your hands and see what the deal is. Are you running shitty, or are there mistakes that you should be avoiding?
I hope this helps. Keep on working at it. |

Dude that sucks, but I know you can beat 100NL, EZ. You could drop down, it really does help the confidence. I've had to rebuild at 50NL, well I'm just starting, but its so ooooooooooooooooo easy, that you should have no problem. I think that'd help and then move back up when you feel good. |

I played you a decent amount on Pstars the last month, you were a good/solid player and there is no doubt in my mind that you can beat NL100, however confidence in my opinion is a huge factor in poker, so dropping down for a little while can definitely be really beneficial and seems like this is just what you need. |
