Hi LP!

My flatmate is a tournament grinder who has played about 4500 tournaments in the last 12 months or so.
Anyway on this day (last Wednesday) he was playing the big 162 and a few other tournaments (about 1 hour into his grind) when a stomach pain he had from earlier in the day when we were at the pub came back heavily. Fortunately I guess my ex girlfriend had an appendicitis 5 years or so ago and everything about this reminded me of that, all the symptoms seemed the same, so when the pain worsened and I could not see what else it could be we called an ambulance and asked their advice. They said if the pain got worse or didn't get better come to the hospital in half an hour. He left his tournies blinding out and we went to the hospital and to cut a long story short he did have an appendicitis, stayed in and had it out the next day.

He got a 'sick note' from the hospital, emailed stars, sent the proof of this and they refunded all the tournaments he was in when this happened to a total of $300ish. I feel like this kind of thing should be recognised, especially now with all the shady things that have gone on and are going on eg Party Poker. Pokerstars are the only really online poker site that give us a small ray of hope in an otherwise seedy dark online poker world.

Anyway, props to Stars

-I should have been a doctor, obv in the wrong profession.
-He handles intense pain really well

Browsing through your hand histories makes me wonder that you might not be aware these games are possibly play money. Have you ever tried to cash out? - Kapol

I once emailed the stars support that I would like to receive the T$ instead of playing the WCOOP 530$ event I was in a satellite to (just heavily grinded sats to wcoop) and it looked like it would already be running when the satty is over..

they didnt reply in time so I got seated into the wcoop and was like meeh, my fault after all, also busted ootm

the very next day stars emails me back apologizing for not replying or acting in time and credited me 530T$

damn generous i never expected that lol

pfffffff...

Nice, that's so awesome of Stars. I can't see any other site giving two fucks in a case like this, but if one would care, of course it would be stars

I agree, but then I suppose it is worth recognising that PokerStars seem to be the only site with 'smart business practice'. Hardly ground breaking news I guess but thought it was still worth the recognition.

i think this is obvious to basically everyone and doesn't change the fact that stars should be applauded for how they handled the situation....

i dont want to sound douchy but why would they refund this? if u buy a ticket and start the show (whatever it may be, poker tour, cinema etc) and leave before finish for whatever reason, except the own fault of the host, and asking for a refund is illogical. or maybe its just me who thinks this way

I understand, however say you buy a ticket for a cinema that you go to every day and then get an appendicitis at the start of one of the shows a years after going every day, would it now be illogical for the company to refund the money for this particular show? Think it is appreciation from them for being a good and loyal customer? Does this line of thinking change your view any dnagardi? He has played 4500 tournaments in the last year, think of the money he's given them.
