Yea it was all this year. I played 100nl and 200nl 6max games on Stars before Black Friday and not much after that. I didn't really know you could still play on other sites with right affiliates.

Playing Phil Ivey was pretty cool yea. I'd have much preferred it to go further in the tourney tho haha. My friend lost to Stinger in the final and ended up getting 2nd in the tourney. We went to EDC Vegas soon after that and was stuck in a long traffic for some ridic amount of time. He was grumbling about how Stinger was taking a helicopter to it and he felt defeated all over again haha.

Confirmed me lol. I'm almost always high or bored when I play those though. I'm awful @ playing HU while high or I'd do that every time to increase my volume .

You'll very likely see more of me in the Zoom streets haha. Probably playing way too loose also

so you played NL100 and NL200 and didn't play since black friday, and suddenly you are a HU NL1k pro. So sick.. crazy. Mind how you did it? Like did you go by a strict BRM.. or did u just take degen shots till you made it etc?

I learned the basics by just watching my roommate play for a bit. Then I took a stake from a friend in February and also received some coaching. He was really confident in my abilities and moved me up absurdly fast. My game was always too loose/aggro by nature and pretty fearless playing higher stakes, which actually boded well for me playing HU. I've actually been playing 2kNL since June or something and right now in October, I probably still have less than 100k HU hands played total. Pretty sure I had way less than 10k hands played at 400nl before he pushed me to move up. I also put in decent amount of HEM work and also coached a student and both experiences benefited me tons I believe...Last month, I sorta hit a mental block (though still winning) and predict it will be a while until I'm confident enough in myself to play 5kNL though. I will definitely put in ton of more outside work beforehand. Wish I had the patience to tolerate bumhunting/1tabling, I'd probably have a lot more money then lol.

If I was to point out a single most important thing about "making it", it's to surround yourself with people that will better you and to always have humble mindset towards learning. I used to hate it when my parents used to tell me this stuff because of useless pride and arrogance in my own intelligence. Now, I couldn't agree more. Sure there's definitely a level of intelligence/personality necessary to be successful at poker but I really believe none are more important than people you surround yourself with. And that does not have to relate to poker also.
