Would anyone be interested in stakin me for the WCOOP Event number 15..i would buy in myself but ive cashed out 3/4 my roll due to some issues. Its the headsup event and im fairly good at cash headsup, i kno tournament headsup is a bit different but i think im +EV in it. Im gonna sell up to 75% of me and if i can and each percent is exactly what you buy of me so say someone was to buy 50% of my action you get exactly half of my winnings. 1% will be $3.20 and so on.
So first shot at 25nl did not go so well. Just got coolered a ton. And some pretty horrid beats. But no big i went back to 10nl and grinded my way back.
Personally I don't think there is a huge difference between 25nl and 10nl. Just a few more super tight nits. I really hope i dont run bad on my second shot.
ROFL McCain / Palin R da origeenal mavericks who bring CHANGE? Whatever happened to that experience shit? Oh it wasn't working so now you steal the other guys platform - cool. Kinda silly considering that you're saying you will change YOUR party that YOU supported 90% of the time and share nearly all of your policy positions with...
What's Obama gotz to say about dat?
As far as I'M CONCERNED, this is the the one and only original Maverick, back off McSame!
EDIT: gotta add this cause it's one of the things I love about Obama - his ability to lay out the truth and casually deal with lies and BS, but be funny about it too:
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- A fired-up Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., took on his opponents -- "these people," he said incredulously, in a familiar refrain -- for shamelessness and dishonesty.
"I have said repeatedly that there should be no contradiction between keeping America safe and secure and respecting our Constitution," Obama said. "During the Republican convention, you remember during the Republican convention, one of them, I don’t know if it was Rudy or Palin ... they said, ‘Well, ya know, Sen. Obama is less interested in protecting you from terrorists than ... reading them their rights.’"
(It was Palin, who said "Al Qaeda terrorists still plot to inflict catastrophic harm on America -- he's worried that someone won't read them their rights?")
"Now, let me say this," Obama continued, "first of all, you don’t even get to read them their rights until you catch them. So, I don’t know what, they should spend more time trying to catch Osama bin Laden and we can worry about the next steps later. Hah! I mean, seriously! These folks.
"Catch ‘em first!"
Obama said his position on this "has always been clear. It has always been clear. If you’ve got a terrorist, take ‘em out. Take ‘em out. Anybody who was involved in 9/11 –- take ‘em out."
But, the former constitutional law professor argued, "What I have also said is this: that when you suspend habeas corpus -- which has been a principle, dating before even our country, it’s the foundation of Anglo-American law -- which says, very simply, if the government grabs you, then you have the right to at least ask, 'Why was I grabbed?' and say, 'Maybe you’ve got the wrong person.'
"The reason you have that safeguard," he said, "is because we don't always have the right person. We don’t always catch the right person. We may think this is Mohammed the terrorist, it might be Mohammed the cab driver. You may think it’s Barack the bomb thrower, but it might be Barack the guy running for president.
"The reason that you have this principle is not to be soft on terrorism, it’s because that’s who we are," Obama said as the crowd rose to its feet, applauding. "That’s what we’re protecting. Don’t mock the Constitution! Don’t make fun of it! Don’t suggest that it’s un-American to abide by what the founding fathers set up! It’s worked pretty well for over 200 years!
"These people!" Obama said.
Obama also mocked the new TV ad put out by the McCain campaign claiming that Gov. Sarah Palin "stopped the Bridge to Nowhere."
"I gotta admit these folks are shameless," Obama said, "because the record is indisputable," he said, describing how Palin had originally supported the project.
"I wouldn’t do that," Obama said. "I mean, I'm not perfect --"
"Yes, you are!" shouted a woman in the crowd.
"No, no, no, no," Obama said. "Talk to Michelle, she’ll tell you. But what I'm not going to do, I'm not going to describe in an ad that I did something that is opposite of what I did."
Last couple months I have been booked and had to turn down people who asked me about coaching. I am making a post to say I have a couple spots open again. I have been coaching for almost 2 years now starting with 100nl and presently coaching up to 2k NL (only 6max and FR NL). I am now offering coaching packages available for a variety of limits for players who are serious about improving, have the time and commitment to stick to a plan and the desire to improve and move up. I still have possible profit sharing deals available for 600NL+ players as well.
The packages are 10 60-75min sessions with a set fee lasting for around 4-5 weeks. (If wanting more hours it can be negotiated). The package involve sweat sessions, video analysis and daily HH review. PM me for details if interested listing ur game and limit. I always offer a trial lesson so players can see how it works and I will give an insight into how lessons will progress based on what I gather. Also we can gauge how compatible we will be since that is very important in a coaching environment.
I have worked with a few LPers, most recently Jamie217 (some players prefer to remain anonymous). I am also an educational instructor on Ballerpoker.com and have a video and article posted there which are free for everyone. There will be a couple videos that will be up this week, one is a video analysis of LP'er 'Sniderstyle' 200NL 6max. There will also be some group lesson offered there just like the one in my last blog post that we did.
gl at the tables!
- James
EDIT: I will still offer individual lessons as well and this post will appeal mainly to 100nl players and above except for a group lesson which might be at lower stakes
The daily HH review is very important (ask my high stakes long term students who utilize it to its fullest) and is ON TOP of the 10 hours of lessons offered.
So ya after breaking even at cash for like 1.5 months almost (didn't put many hands in, like 30k or something over them all) i finally am riding the heater again and i like it.
Hard WCOOP beginnings and Atlantic Cityby thewh00sel, September 08
Mmm, so I'm down about 4,500 in buy ins for WCOOP and other tourneys. Played pretty poorly on Sunday unfortunately and ran poorly as well. I wasn't really interested in any of the events going on today so I took the day off from MTTs and went with the wife and dog to Red Rock Canyon. That was pretty cool, nice views etc.
When I got home I played a short session at 3/6 and was happy to run well and play well. Although most of my profit came from a hand that for some reason i dont have the HH for, but I overflushed two people and scooped a 2100$ pot. So that was good.
+2k today makes my month +$6,500 and I'm headed to Atlantic City tomorrow to play in Borgata's $2,500 buy in WPT event on wednesday. I'm pretty stoked about that, but, barring any good results, it looks like my month will be about break even after WCOOP is all said and done. That's fine with me though because I'm happy to be freerolling most of the WCOOP thanks to a tourney score early in the month.
Also, one of the first ballerish things i've spewed on that makes me feel F4ZI-esque (not really) is a limo from philadelphia's airport to the Borgata, so that's a fun milestone. Anyways, Wish me luck in A.C. and GL to all who might be donkamenting around this week =]
$50 until I hit $500 which means a shot at NL25. How do the games compare to NL10 at NL25? I have heard they are softer and easier, but I want to make sure. I'm hoping by this weekend I'll be taking a shot and possibly be a regular at that limit.
I'm in Los Angeles for work - gonna be crazy busy till next week. Hopefully nothing big happens in the political world cause then I'd totally miss it.
Feeling hectic and can't wait till this is over. Doing a huge conference and have spent the entire day back and forth to the airport picking up international attendees, heh.
Got a vacation scheduled for me and the GF when we get home so I'm excited for that. I also bought one of those 5 hour energy shots and figure I'll see if it's any good - I could definitely use the boost.
My first session here was kind of the worst I have played in months, not able to focus at the game at all... I made basic mistakes, didnt follow my instincts and didnt even try to handread my opponents. And the worst mistake; I didnt try to fold when I was beat so I paid of in two potts I usually dont ever do that: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/521697 http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/521690
The only good thing I did was close down after 500 hands. One of the things that has saved me a lot of money during the years has been to never play when I am
1. Tired
2. Hungry
3. Not motivated.
(Since I dont drink I cant play drunk but if I had been doing that, that would also be on that list.)
Since I broke against my third rule I guess I only have myself to blame.
Well, no poker now until wednesday. Tomorrow I have to practise some violin since I am going to play at "kulturnatten" (an annual event in uppsala where the whole town is filled with music and culture) on saturday with Livets Ord. If I havnt got this wrong I think we will have a stage at "stora torget" (the big square in the middle of Uppsala) so there will be plenty of people listening. So that will be fun!
I made it through Peace Corps training, which was pretty much 10 weeks living in a tiny village with no stable electricity, no running water (fetched it from a well every day), no Internet/phone, mosquitoes and bugs everywhere, huge dust storms everyweek, bad food, no showers (bathed in a bucket), and outhouses (you don't wanna know...). But I made it. And I'm officially a PC volunteer now permanently serving in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar.
Luckily, that means I get internet so I started back on the grind a little while ago, back at NL5 where I left off... sad part is I've been experiencing a shitty downswing over the past few days. The fact that it's at NL5 of all places makes it worse...
But fuck it. Can't stop, won't stop. I will study harder, adapt faster, work harder. Tomorrow, I'm grinding NL2 till I hit 25BI for NL5 again and re-starting this shit.
For all my fellow poker bros who are going through some hard times, here are some inspirational quotes from my collection (I collect quotes from people, speeches, books, musical lyrics, film dialogue, etc.) to cheer us up:
“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.” – Harriet Beecher Stowe
"I can do it." - Francisco D'Anconia (from Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged)
"We work hard. We bring home the money." - The Greatest Game Ever Played
"Trust in yourself. Your perceptions are often far more accurate than you are willing to believe." - Claudia Black
"Nothing in the world can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not – nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not - unrewarded genius is almost legendary; Education will not – the world is full of educated derelicts. Perseverance and Determination alone are omnipotent." – President Calvin Coolidge
"If you learn only methods, you'll be tied to your methods, but if you learn principles you can devise your own methods." – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Remember one thing: through every dark night, there’s a bright day after that. So matter how hard it gets, stick your chest out, keep your head up, and handle it.” – Tupac Amaru Shakur
And a couple in honor of this game we all love:
CUTTY: The game done changed...
SLIM: Game's the same, just got more fierce. – The Wire
"Is it a reasonable thing, I ask you, for a grown man to run about and hit a ball? Poker's the only game fit for a grown man. Then, your hand is against every man's, and every man's is against yours. Teamwork? Who ever made a fortune by teamwork? There's only one way to make a fortune, and that's to down the fellow who's up against you." – W. Somerset Maugham
So. I have been following this forum some time now without becoming a member. Especially the blog of Dustylove and SakiSaki but also some other people. Anyway, I was at Dustys party this friday and met Pinball and Malmis who only had great things to say about Liquid. Since Dusty have tried to get me here before and I actually dont have a reason not to, I thought, why not give it a shot! I hope I can learn a lot from all of you and hopefully give something back too!
First a short presentation: My name is Daniel, I am 21 years old and live in Uppsala, Sweden. I´ve gone 2 out of my 4,5 year law-eduaction, just beginning my 3rd year. Beside school I play violin and love poker!
I started playing poker like 3 years ago. Not knowing anything I learned to play basic poker for a school assignment (projektarbete in swedish). I started pretty low, had some luck in the beginning months before I could beat like NL50. From there I studied a lot, learning about bankroll management, potodds and all that basic stuff that every serious pokerplayer knows now (but not then). After about 3-4 months I played NL200, jumping from different sites, InterPoker, UlimateBet, Parbet etc but I never found the site for me. When I met Dustylove in autumn 2006 he brought me to Unibet where I played for 2 years.
The games were good in Unibet for a long time. I ran good, played well and won a lot of money. But I still kept playing at NL200. As soon as my bankroll went over 10k I took out like 3-4k and invested them in stocks, or just had fun with them. This summer thou, I decided I needed to go up in level because I didnt improve my game at all, just playing pretty standard TAG, and I found it pretty boring. But of course I go on like a downswing during the summer months and I lost all my interest in sitting inside and just play.
In mid August I then decided that this was enough. Unibet had some trouble, I went mad, took 1300$ and put them on Full Tilt for a fresh start (taking home the rest to buy stocks ) I have since then grinded that up to 5k with 500 coming up in rakeback.
At the moment I play 4 tables NL100 and 2 tables NL200, when I pass the 6k mark I will play 6 tables NL200. My main goal is to go up in level pretty fast. I will not withdraw any money and hopefully I can reach NL600 in some months. Since I have never played up there I wont have any futher goals, but just see how it goes and always do my best!
I really havent had much thought about what I will write in this blog. I will upload hands, let you know how I am doing, and just hanging around. If you want me to write more pokerstuff or go into more whats happening besides school, let me know!
Anyway, I am looking forward to become a member of this community and all what that means!
got really bored with NL so decided to mess around in limit. i have a personal friend i knew from the starcraft days, who plays the highest limit games online eg 30/60 50/100. he sent me his stats and i got the shock of my life. his vpi in 6max was 40-50% and he was a big winner over a large sample size. he says its because his post flop play is extremely good and talked to me abit about his style, which got me curious and wanting to try it out. i obv couldnt hit 40-50% vpip, i did manage to hit around 28% which is a huge jump from my 18% vpip nl stats.
obv went well lol
i found my post flop game has improved by SOOOOOOOOO much since the last time i played limit and im sooo aggresive now. played 9 tables of 6 max 1/2 for about 3 hours. i might actually be really good at limit. and my ffps soared up like crazy and i reached gold star.
