so much have changed from my last blog post...
fortunatelly I've done everything for my Uni, and now I'm on second year of cyvil engineering.
but unfortunatelly it is fucking hard year at uni which sux soooo much.
i can't play poker anymore (maybe never I couldn't have done it)
when i was everest player i crushed nl50 for 7ptbb/100 over decent sample, then i was trying to play nl100, was breakeven, took some lessons, and my coach said its ok, i should be nl100 winner, just keep playing
but i had some personal problems, that were incoming my focus abilities, so i moved down...
then i decided to leave everest poker because it really sux. my everest account was on my friends name, and due to some problems i couldn't cash out using neteller, juz by check
so i started playing with only 400$ on ftp, nl25 was eeez, with 800$ stated nl50, still lots of fishes playing 50/5/1
on everest i was playing like 15-20k hands a month, after moving to ftp i was going to start treating poker more seriously, buy cardrunners, play at least 40k hands month, and keep moving up in stakes
when my roll hit 1600 i payed cr for 1 year, bought pt3 (before that i played on trial version), and keep playing nl50, hoping to move on nl100 this year
is it too small sample to decide about my game? -12ptbb/100 is sooo bad, i know i spew like 3bi, but what about rest 17? what stats should i show to give someone chance to help me?
i'm not even rolled for nl50 anymore, i'm moving between nl25 and nl50 anytime i reach 850$, move down at 750, but i can't win any single session at nl50! could it be like that because i don't feel comfortable with 17bi rule?
should i just grind nl25 and take some lessons?
i still feel like nl50 is easy, but i keep losing money there!
i can't even decide if i'm losing money due to my poor play (i'm definitely not playing A-game but i think it's normal on downswing) or are these hands coolers
so what i'm gonna do:
-start every day from making a blog post with biggest hands won and lost day before
-keep playing nl25 till i reach 1250$, so i feel comfortable at nl50 and gain some confidence
-stop watching cr till i'm on nl50, when i'm on it i watch only nl50 videos to not overthink plays against nl50 fish
-max 6table 6max and really focus on it
-40k hands month
-NO CASHOUTS TILL I'M nl200 reg
hands from today session, i'm prolly not playing anymore because i have lots work to do for my school;/

at this table i've been playing 41/37 and had maniac image, had nice run from 25$bi
i put him on 77-tt i had Kh, i didn't think fd is in his range after flop action was almost sure his drawing to 2outs, thats why i bet so small on turn, to make him think his good and call turn and riv, or shove turn
is there any sense in my logic? or its just no brainer push on turn and i got what i deserved?
I'd like to hear your honest opinions about stats, hand, suggestions about playing and blog posting
criticism will be apreciated (and advices too
I'm sure you've heard it over and over "diversify your investments!" Remember, even Wu Tang Financial preaches it!
Well it's with good reason. To put it in layman's terms, you can hedge away the individual risks carried by stocks/bonds and only have market risk (which cannot be hedged away, even if you invest in multiple markets - usa, asia, uk, etc - because the global economy is so intertwined these days).
Even the AAA rated corporate bonds have something like a 0.2% chance they go busto within 5 years!! And now some financial firms have given municipal bonds (state govt bonds) a finite chance of defaulting. I've only played poker for roughly one week so I may be terrible at poker analogies, but let me pose this question to you: "would you put in your entire BR and your life savings with AA against 72o preflop?" I don't even know what the odds are in this situation but I think you can see the risk of putting EVERYTHING on the line. In a sense, I feel like smart poker players who play to win in the long run are essentially doing something analogous to diversification in terms of investment and financial management.
They say that the stocks:bond ratio is roughly 100-age into stocks and the rest into bonds. But when you do this, don't make the mistake thinking that this ratio only will make you "diversified". Not at all! You've got to get your money spread out into a variety of bonds, and a variety of stocks and other options if you choose. This is why so many people use funds and similar set ups where you can purchase a basket of items for a relatively small sum of money - or just buy S&P funds, etc.
If you really feel like apple's going to skyrocket (let's say you REALLY believed in the ipod before its launch) or got into the vmware IPO, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure that the sum of money you put into individual stocks is a very small proportion of your entire portfolio. I'm not an expert so I dont knwo the exact numbers, but think something on the order of 1-2% of your portfolio that you can "play" with.
I'll end with a frightening anecdote, and I'm sure there are many others like this. I apologize about the lack of details; the story came from someone about a month ago and the specifics escape me.
There was a man worth 2 billion dollars, head of a firm in Wisconsin or thereabouts. Obviously an intelligent, successful man who knew what he was doing... in terms of his business. The problem was that a massive proportion of his assets, about 90% or so iirc, was in stocks of his firm!! When the market that his firm was in crashed, his assets went from 2 billion down to 20 million. Now, as the head of a company it is difficult to get rid of your holdings in the company for various reasons, but still, this should serve as an example for why you MUST be diversified in your investments, even if that means you don't get the highest EV possible.
Another example, is how the Enron employees' 401k's were set up. I'm sure you can guess by now, but they were essentially pure Enron stocks - you can imagine the pain felt there. I hope those former employees are doing okay...
Maybe a lot of you aren't in a position to REALLY have to worry about this for now. But as you age, and have a family to support, YOU're the one that has to make sure that everything is under control and that your assets can withstand crashes like the one we're experiencing right now. For all we know there might be another crash coming in 30 years and you have to be prepared! I just feel terrible for the people who were set to retire in the next few years, who did not rebalance their portfolios properly to hedge for such risks. (I'll try to talk about "goals" in your portfolio management next time around)
Just keep it in the back of your minds, and hopefully when the time comes, you'll have people to ask for good advice. I'm willing to bet you that if you made a thread at LP.net, there will be good people still around willing to help you out (so Meat, it's up to you to keep the site running healthy for our sakes! <3)

My internet still worked, and I could chat on AIM with people watching me blind down while others still played. I finally reconnect like 30 minutes later with less than 10 bb in both those events.
How is it possible to lose when....by EXCELED, November 07
How is it possible to loose a fucking hockey game when you out shoot the team 56 to 25... yea thats right. My team tonight totally out played the other team but we got fucked over and lost 6-4. There goalie is a fucking luck box and our goalie... fuck tonight let in some cheeseburger goals man. Just my little vent... kinda mad we lost a game we shoulda owned. Bounces just dont go your way sometimes I guess.
I gotta work at fucking 6am and its 1220 right now... going to be a long day ugggh. Might grind tomorrow we will see.
Hope everyone had a good day. Night folks.
EXCELED
so, i wasnt really planning a big whine post or anything, but maybe i kind of need one.
mainly im thinking about when i've read people like baal post things along the lines of "good players never breakeven for x amount of hands"
look at my graph. i fucking broke even over like 110k hands and it will probably go even longer.
ive made the decision to stay at nl50 until 7,500 bankroll, but with my br trapped eternally between 4k-5k it doesnt look like it will ever happen.
i try to sit down and grind out a lot of hands. i make decent decisions. but the beginning of november just has me absolutely soulcrushed. the point is not that i ran like -600 ev over 6 days, its more that i ran -600 over 6 days in the middle of a 120k breakeven. and i dont really know anymore. i really fucking dont.
i mean ill probably put myself through more nl50 grinding, and im pretty sure ill only play when im capable of making good decisions, but im just stressed, you know? and i swear i only play when im not tilted, i stop when i am, and i put in lots of time, and i read about the game, watch videos, ask for help, talk to fellow grinders.
but what now? im sorry guys, im fucking stressed about this shit. and my results based parents are just putting me worse on life tilt. because i cant just magically produce results. blaaaaah
Can't beat Nl 2 6 max loooooolby boblion, November 07
So because i was tired to being raped by rake at 1$ micro sng for a 0-1% Roi, i decided to move to 5$ sng ( "only" 10% rake here loooool )
Since i had only 15 buy-in it was clearly not a good decision. Variance was too high for my br and nerves hopefully i didnt lost money.
Instead i decided to try cash game with my 35euros left.
I was only rolled for NL2 and i chose 6 max like the sng i used to play.
Now the nightmare begins. I'm not good at poker, i'm a beginner and i knew it. But everybody told me " Why u play SNg u stupid, cash game is EZ"
Well, actually cash game is way harder.
I can't beat this limit. I tried to play deep ( 5$) and it doesnt work for me. I spew too much vs short stackers, and i always run bad in deep vs deep confrontations, and i can't afford to lose my whole stack.
Then i tried with 2$ and it doesnt work either. Deep people have really wide ranges and are tricky and short stackers are so agressive
Tips ?
Should i play full ring ?
What are the hand that i should play ?
- i try to limp pairs < 77 if it isnt too expensive
- I will raise pairs > 77
- i might try to limp KK or AA vs one opponent
- i raise Ax(s) ( low x ) if i have position ortherwise i usually limp or fold ( depending on position again )
- i raise AJ/AQ/AK in all positions
- I might limp or raise JT(s), QJ(s), KQ(s) depending on position too.
- i might try to limp the other kind of hands if nobody raises.
Is it ok ? too calling station ?
Also i have big troubles to fold a top pair or a double pair and i tend to spew too much for draws
Obvious leaks that i need to improve.
I have tried a new rule. I start a table with 2$ and i try to leave when i get to 3$. Is it a good idea ?
Also i play on 3 tables at the same time. I might try 4 if my br increases but i'm quite bad at multi-tasking ( low apm p user ;D ).
Help or i will have to cash out / play donkaments again. .

Ok, first off all of us intelligent people are thinking "duh" and "I told you so" as all the new behind-the-scenes info comes out about Palin. But it is kind of funny that the people who chose her have now so viciously turned on her. It's their fault as much as it is hers. It's McCain's fault for allowing Palin to be his VP. Palin was just Palin, and as horrible as I thought she was, it wasn't her fault that she was thrust onto the national stage - that was McCain and his advisers doing. Now they've thrown her under the bus. Not a pretty sight.
Campbell Brown @ CNN did a nice "Cutting Through The Bull" segment about it:
In case you missed it, here are the fun facts that were released by Newsweek, who had been required to wait till the election was over before they could report them:
Palin launched her attack on Obama's association with William Ayers, the former Weather Underground bomber, before the campaign had finalized a plan to raise the issue. McCain's advisers were working on a strategy that they hoped to unveil the following week, but McCain had not signed off on it, and top adviser Mark Salter was resisting.
NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin's shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family--clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.
At the GOP convention in St. Paul, Palin was completely unfazed by the boys' club fraternity she had just joined. One night, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her. After a minute, Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat with her laconic husband, Todd. "I'll be just a minute," she said.
McCain himself rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign, and aides kept him in the dark about the details of her spending on clothes because they were sure he would be offended. Palin asked to speak along with McCain at his Arizona concession speech Tuesday night, but campaign strategist Steve Schmidt vetoed the request.

Love waking up for no reason.by EXCELED, November 07
I really love waking up at 5am after having a a terrible sleep, driving all the way to work to find out that you have the day off. Its not so bad I guess but I probably would have rather worked at least a few hours because it looked like people were going to get sent home eventually anyways.
Im going to put in a very nice session today and set the goal at winning 20-30 BB. After that Im going to call it a day. I might play in a donkament too... havent played in one for a while kinda got the itch to try and take one down today for some reason so wish me luck. Ill update this page throughout the day with how shits going.
EDIT 1
Just took a little nap. Woke up for nothing so I decided to catch a few more hours sleep. Going to start grinding. Got my 2 tables of $.25/$.50 LHE going and Im in a 27 man Sit N Go. Going to rape it.
EDIT 2
Got all in in the tourney /w two pair guy rivers a set GG.
EDIT 3
I always seem to get stuck like 20 BB right away and have to fight to get even again lol its annoying. I just played about 500 hands and it was a struggle. I just broke evena couple of minutes ago but I think I need to take a bit of a break, eat a bit and clear my head.
Note to self:
Table selection is very important.
EDIT 4
Not going good today... up a whopping 8BB when writing this. I think Im going to wrap it up for today. I gotta go out for a bit then I got hockey so I wont be back until really late. Plus I have to work tomorrow so I wont have time to play because Ill need to try and get some sleep. Heres the graph since I started on PStars which was yesterday lol.
I guess is alright. Ill take anything thats not in the negative. Like I said Ive been trying a bit of a different style of play then Im used too. More raising instead of flat calling to help show more strength in my hands to confuse opponents so they dont know if I got the nuts or not much at all. Going alright but I gotta fine tune it. I think Ive decided that at the end of next week (Sunday) Im going to review my hands more and see where I went wrong etc. This will let me see how my style is working and how I can adjust.
haven't updated in a whileby domyouji, November 07
damn deleted by accident, anyway I made 2k late last month and began 50nl this month. Only difference i see is probably 3 betting. They think your stealing back but some light 4 betting should do the trick. I been also reading some material on donkaments and hopefully win a big 1 soon, so now I'm probably going to mess around on low level donkaments to use different styles and see which one works. This month probably gonna play all 50 and double up roll to a sizable amount before going to .5/1 next month.
Another 25k hands at 6max, 25nl........... and i still suck. Sklansky owes me 12 BIs but i'd still have a crappy winrate even with those added on. I won't give up though, 6max is so much more fun for me and I need to beat it.
Lost most big hands, didnt hit when i needed to and managed to bleed of almost 2 buyins at a 40vpip table with 50+vpip donks left and right cause i couldnt win one hand >2$ in almost 2 hours there.
-5$ with aces & -18$ with kings are quite a good example how good i ran today
most session i play look that way, just like it was when i stopped 1 year ago. but a great session yesterday helped getting my hopes up again.
