Introduction
I haven’t played any poker for almost 2 months now while I have been finishing my final uni project. Now that I’m done with physics, I’m going to completely change direction; to looking for EV+ situations to make boatloads of money.
I’ve been reading a few books on finance, logic and psychology. (It’s fun times browsing the university library). I recently read this book, and hence, here is an investment plan.
Poker plan NovDec08
Play poker solidly till Christmas Eve
Goal: at least 3ptBB over 20000 hands at NL200, feel good playing on the limit, 12k Bankroll, Hit supernova.
-start at NL100
-3 buyin stoploss
-at least 1 hours poker-related study per day.
-at least ½ hour review for every hour played, much more when losing
-move down after losing at most 6 buyins.
-move up after winning at least 6 buy-ins.
-play for equity, play long term, play as much as possible
Worst Case Scenario: lose 6 buyins, take a break for a day review hands and study, move down a limit. Lose 6 buy-ins again, take a break.. etc. finish on Christmas Eve down a few k, call it quits for poker and cash out, find a job.
Best Case Scenario: I play perfectly, and grind long hours, constantly out thinking all opponent types and playing a more solid game. I select great tables full of fishy players and I get people on tilt to me. I take aggressive shots, move up quickly, and spend a lot of time grinding NL200, while taking shots at 2/4 when the games are good. I bank a lot of money; cash out the excess over 16k.
Also going to record a video of my first session to give me more material to review my play.
It didn't take long for the notoriously-fast-working folks at South Park to lampoon President-Elect Obama. Last night's episode featured the president-elect, Michelle Obama, John McCain and Sarah Palin. The episode, "About Last Night," revolves around an Ocean's 11-style plot to steal the Hope diamond.
Hello. I'm not going to whine that much even though I'd like to and I've been doing it every day since the beginning of November (well... acutally since I came back from the USA). This month is not going good at all. I'm down $4,5k and that's just because of me keeping on playing on ongame to clear a fuckin $1k bonus.
I guess I will get a coach soon.
Ok so I am going to update my blog more frequently because I started attending an english course in October and I want to use some of the cool vocabulary and grammar I learned there to make it become my second nature.
If there's any mid/high-stakes player who would like to help me improve my game and manage my anger plz PM me. I'd really appreciate it because that's exactly what I need now.
a buff that did not came out right: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/562704 - i had him 12/10 or 14/12 when i played it, called flop to float - should have raised him right there, i thought every better hand raises turn so i fired the river, but i guess my table image ( 35/30 at that time ) forced him to call
Q6o yO :D http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/562700 - a nice :D squeeze ( org. raiser: 25/21, had to 3bet his sorry ass some time ) w/ Q6 and i flop TP vs 28/7/6 so i check OOP to make him push his garbage and he does, but as it TURNs out he had 40% oO
and todays fuckup goes to: http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/562697 - when i played this hand he was like 24/20 for 18 hands and this small 4bet made me think he is making a bluff... no history w/ him and he already makes a move on me? on NL100? nigga plz...
I decided to make a blog in order to improve, keep a better view of my game and if I can help a fellow poker player it will be a good extra. I lurk the forum for more then an year and I guess this step was inevitable. So, Hello to you liquidpokerers. The short story is I was tempted by poker in the summer of 2007, played a little from everything, but maybe in the last months I'm giving it a serious shot. In September I was playing at Prima, but from October I hit the Poker Stars tables, as a part of a "New Start" in the game. And a significant part of the "New Start" is that now I'm a MEGA NIT in bankroll management and I REALLY MEAN "MEGA" nit. I currently play at the NL5 tables both Full Ring and 6 max.
So as a start let's see some graphs:
Yep, that's a -15BI downswing at NL5. I mean yea, I experienced variance before, previously I played NL25, NL50 for about 35-40k hands and swings were common and they were not only by my bad play. But to be honest I didn't expect -15BI swing at NL5 + the fact that I play a nitty style. Maybe I will post some of the hands later, but there's nothing really interesting in most of them - set over set, straight over set etc...Maybe I will just pick some more interesting and see what you think.
I have taken a few shots at NL10 for insignificant number of hands, but it didn't work out as I wanted, so I'm struggling at NL5 till I feel that I'm destroying the limit and the calling stations are begging for mercy.
So let's consider this as an introduction, so till my next post - GL and HF.
Pokerstars, pokerstars, pokerstars. What can I say....? I really like the software the site has. Due to complications with FTP I said fuck it and came back to Pokerstars. Ive havent been lucky at all on this site... seems like I got that doomswitch. Anywyas I instantly got down 30BB... ewe. I grinded a bit and managed to break even. Taking a break for now. Really want to get over to FTP so I need to work out a few things first. I got rakeback and a bonus just waiting to be used.
Im trying to fix up a few things in my game. I think Ive been cold calling too much so Im trying to open up my 3 Bet ranage and throwing a few hands I might just flat call with into the muck instead. Im going to keep tring it and see how things go with it. I know that is a bit of a leak in my game... my VP$IP and PF Raise gap is to big. Im going to take a break for a bit then just grind it out again and hopefully end the day in the plus. Ill throw a graph up for the end of the day.
EXCELED
EDIT 1:
Played again.. same swingy shit lol. Im going to probably call it quits while I watch this movie with my mom. (Yea im watching a movie with my mom) The Cleaners? Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris and Eva Mendes
The cleaners...not really that great of a movie. Not a bad one though but I wouldnt suggest it to anyone. I just saw K2O4's blog post on South Park and Obama and I cant wait to watch it lol its probably fuckin jokes haha.
I also managed to beek out a 20BB win... or one buy in what ever you want to call it. I think I just need to keep it simple and play pretty ABC at these tables because people arent usually lying and play straight up. I just gotta get out of the way when I know Im beat and get the bets in when Im ahead. Not going to bother putting up the graph... pretty much the same as the first one but a little higher in the + side.
I said earlier that I was wanting to try and get my VP$IP and PFR closer together and it worked pretty well. By raising more hands instead of flat calling it disguises my hand strength and these players are just to dumb and automatically give me credit. Ive also started throwing away hands that I might call with in certain situations even though its probably not the right decision. Anyways Im going to keep looking over my stats and see where I can improve on.
Tomorrow I gotta go to work. Hopefully I get some hours in Ive been getting fucked over and they keep sending all the low senority people home. Sucks when Im trying to save for school and Im not getting hours.
Odd way to finish a session. People always say negative things about EV graphs, but I have an unhealthy obsession of looking at them. Looking at it makes me tilt so much, but I can't stop looking at it.
Anyways, here's the hand. It wouldn't have been so horrible if the other guy won. + Show Spoiler +

I also realized something crucial which may account for why my AK runs like garbage. When I join tables for Stars, I sort by average pot and put myself on the waiting list for the biggest ones. I just realized how stupid this is. The reason why Stars shows the average pot being so large is because those average pots just happened. That means the majority of the time, the fish probably just got bombed in a huge pot. Very rarely does it actually mean some crazy maniac is shoving every other hand, getting it in bad, and sucking out.
What ends up happening is when the wait list empties and I join the table, the fish are the ones leaving and all the regs are swarming in to get in on the action. A small average pot doesn't mean bad players aren't willing to donate money, it just means it didn't happen yet. Obviously I leveled myself in table selecting.
Another thing is I am now joining only fast tables (unless there are sick fish in others). I normally 8-9 table (all that can fit on screen without cascading), and it's easy to keep up with that many tables. Would only make sense to increase hands per hour.

So today i took my second shot at Nl25 6max after yesterday where i played very poorly.
went well
Competition was an unreal joke ...
Seems like Nl25 hasnt evolved one little bit since the last time i played there as a regular ^^ which was pretty long ago
Whats up blog readers, I'm starting my first poker blog on here for my prop bet I'm having on 2plus2. I need to play 600k full ring hands on PokerStars this month 25nl and above, will be giving updates on here and posting some other fun stuff along the way.
I play as JoeIngram1 on stars, the kid holding the money in the avatar is me, I'm sure the other regs out there love me! Will be keeping this blog for quite awhile as I am going after Supernova Elite next year (which I will get for sure) so bookmark it and check it out from time to time.
-10 buyins at nl25 in about 3k hands so far, gunna keep blog updated so i can track my continued failings and then later the attempt to regain these buyins so i can go back to nl50 -_-
Yesterday was fun. I started out down like 2.5k€ and ended it up about 2.5k€. That's pretty sick for 2/4 and 3/6 and only like 2.5k hands. Finally in the green for the month. It'd be great to have another decent winning month in a row and get that damn Bankroll up to comfortably play semi-high stakes again.
In other news I fucking hate tuna. Raw eggs are still pretty nice though.
Yesterday my flat mate since 1.5 years, A, told me that she and her boyfriend had gotten an apartment and she'll move out this Christmas. I'm very happy for them and they're one of of maybe 2 or 3 couples who makes me believe in monogamous relationships a bit. She's babbling on about that we (as in me, my other roomie, her and her bf) should hang out a bit even after they move out but we've just not got enough in common for that to happen so as long as something unexpected won't happen I'll consider the era when she was a decently big part of my everyday life over in a month or so. It makes me a bit sad, cause it's been a fun, easy going and educational experience and I think I've grown quite a bit as a human thanks to her. I also drunk e-mailed her mom once, which turned into a semi-epic story in itself. Good times.
This spring my sister will probably move in and take A's room. She's a really, really cool person and basically a better looking version of me that happens to be a girl and be half as big. This makes me happy again cause I really miss her. Right now she's in India trying to free Tibet.
Tommorow me, rommie-S, A, A's bf, a law student friend of mine and Malimis will go a catch the latest Bond movie. I've got decent expectations. Also, fwiw Malimis has a pretty low-lifeish msn-pic, but in real life he's great.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/562362 - 24/17/3 450 hands, i thought he raised KJ/AJ here cause a set he'd call prolly, so i 3beted but i guess he also known that i wouldn't play set this way, so this bluff is stupid for a thiking player
its almost impossible to win a session, breaking even after a long or short session, doesnt matter, biggest losing hand is ak but almost ahead in all big pots, and lose in a very dramatic fashion, yay! im thinking of just getting my milestone this month and just forget this bullshit. get 3kusd maybe lose 1k in the process, great.
Watching the footage of people celebrating Obama's victory all over the US and the world totally reminded me the end to Return of the Jedi when everyone is celebrating the fall of the empire.
hahaha I have been smiling all day. It's like living in a new world.
Nothing important happend i just make an entry for statistical reasons.
Today
Nl10 + 42$
Nl25 shot -20$ ( lol i could have easily won a good amount and was in the green untill my last few hands but i really played bad cause i was bored in the end ...) FPP tourney + 10.67
.......................
+ 32 $
Last 3 days
+ 102 $ at micros in ~ 3,6K hands.
If it wasnt for Neilly today id allready cashed back in some $ and played Nl50 again after this 3 successfull sessions in a row
cause NL10 really is too easy.
But he reminds me that i must train my ability to play at lower limits !
My main fault in the past was that i couldnt move down below Nl100 for a long time when i wasnt really rolled for it anymore
So i will stay there a bit longer in the micros and build my roll back up to Nl50 and Nl100 by grinding micros.
