Today = Joke by EXCELED, December 01

Im getting fucking owned today left right and centre. First off I have a fractured foot. I went to the doctors because I fucked my foot up at work a few days ago and it hasnt been getting any better. Get the Xray and sure enough its fractured... sweet. Now I cant work for a bit or play hockey.

I get home and think the tables are juicy. They really were but I was getting fucked left right and centre! Sets cracked like its a 9-5, flushed out.... just a fucing joke all around. Im really pissed right now so I m definitly not playing anymore... probably not for the rest of the day. I think it might have been the cashout. CASHOUT = DOOMSWITCH? Fuck man its so annoying.

If I drop another 100BB Im going to have to move down and its going to suck DICK! I worked hard in Nov. to be able to move up and was doing great. Variance decided to come in when things were already going shitty and make them worse. I guess I was due? Fuck that. Donks getting paid off for the worst plays in history is not fun. Today also is my biggest loss so far. UGH!

Seriously.

Blah, I'd love to be able to give advice and help people in return for the help I get here, but I am afraid to even comment on nl10 hands when its obvious that nothing from nl10 translates to nl25?

roll $496. <$500. Again. I have $162 in rakeback coming sometime.. bleh I don't know.

I've never won a dollar on FTP, I'm going to play some nl10(I can beat the rake and still make like 3BB/100 and this is just an experiment) and see if I can even win there. Maybe I have some inexplicable, severe subconcious block at ever playing well at FTP.

November and today by edzwoo, December 01

November was probably the most important month in my poker career. I quit poker for a while and then came back after building up a roll just for amusement from the pennies again.

On November 5th, I really sought to improve my game and looked through all my hands to fix leaks. I also changed my game from being a weak tight, semi-solid player to a much more aggressive player.

A few key things I strongly believe changed my game that I didn't do before:

  • Putting my opponents on ranges based on their actions.
  • Paying attention to other people's betting patterns/timing.
  • Paying close attention to board texture and adjusting ranges.

    oh and

  • Not leveling myself with donks

Since I started doing well at NL25, I would take a step back and think about my play after each session. Sometimes I would have a winning session but knew I played like crap and just ran good. Sometimes I had killer losing sessions, but I felt very confident on how I played. I think that honesty with myself also helped me improve.

Of course that's not to say I'm a great player. I know for sure that I'm far from the best; heck, I'm only at NL50

Anyways, here's an update of my NL50 progress. In my typical 2-3 hour sessions, I haven't had a losing one yet :

And here's my November graph.

november by YoUr_KiLLeR, December 01

november started pretty well with another nl10 shot going well...until a 14 buyin downswing. i took a few days off after this and went back to nl5 for a bit to rebuild some of my bankroll and confidence. around the 12k hand mark i went back to nl10 and cut down to 4 tables. im gonna stay at 4 tables for a while and really think about my play instead of roboting it out.

i didnt get in as many hands as i would've liked to this month cuz of schoolwork but i feel like i've improved a lot. im picking better spots to take down pots, getting better with my cbetting, and loosened up my range some. the first 2 weeks of december will be really busy with finals but starting mid-december i should be able to get a lot of hands in during winter break.

i guess a modest goal for the rest of the year would be to become comfortable at nl10 and hopefully be a real winner at it (right now im at 1.62bb/100 through 30.3k hands at this limit lol). i believe im on the right track though. then at the beginning of next year i hope i can start taking shots at nl25.

good luck guys and thanks to everyone whos responded to my threads in the low stakes forum, youve been a great help.

November by vlseph, November 30

I think I had a pretty decent November. I failed a chem and a bio exam though so fuck but the poker is pretty decent.

I talked to my cousin about rebuilding and he said if I was already a winner at NL25 there should be no reason to rebuild, so I rolled myself up for NL25 and started playing and I ran pretty bad at first so I moved myself to NL10 to rebuild the roll after losing 5 buy-ins.

Here's some graphs.

This is how I did at NL5:
http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp179/vlseph/November%20Poker/NL5.jpg

NL10:
http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp179/vlseph/November%20Poker/NL10.jpg

NL25:
http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp179/vlseph/November%20Poker/NL25.jpg

Then I read a thread about short stacking on LP and decided I'd try short stacking NL100 with really no clue on what I'm doing (yes you can be a bad shortstacker as opposed to a good one). I won about like $100 or something and then spewed it all back and then some pretty fast as I was getting in lighter due to winning. I realized I was bad at it and it was pointless because even if I get lots of FPP in fast, I have no use for it as I'm not currently clearing any bonus anyway.

I remembered I had a $300~ or so bonus with rakeback at Cake I could still clear. I hated playing there, but I decided to short stack and just clear what bonus was left. I ran bad the first couple days losing lots of 80/20s and lots and lots of flips, but after Thanksgiving I started running better. They also had a turkey reload bonus so I took advantage of that ($100 in bonus).

Here's my stats for Cake then.
I started clearing the bonus with
Deposits: 750+400
Uncleared bonuses: 300+100

It's already a new month on Cake due to time zones and my roll is sitting at 1350 and I have 230 in bonuses left to clear. I'm going to get $45 in rakeback for the month of November in a couple of days so my roll will really be at 1400, so it's not that bad for a week or so worth of work. I'm improving my short stack game from when I started.

Finals are coming for me and after I clear the bonus on Cake (and life at school), I'm going to come back to Stars and grind NL25 til my roll is ready for NL50 (unventured territory!!!). Gonna hope and see if I can cash out of Cake for good for around $2000 by the end of December or so! GL to everyone else on poker and in school if you're a shitty college student in me. I should also go probably grind the books instead of the poker tables.

November by zealit, November 30

Well, November started great. Took a shot at NL25, lost 2 BI, went back to NL10 and got doomswitched for quite a long stretch. Kept losing when I was ahead and kept getting out rivered by stations with draws. It didn't help too that I spewed some BI cuz of the semi-tilt induced by the long breakeven stretch and tried to do some fancy plays. Fancy plays are bad at NL10.

Here's the graph for the month:
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n301/zealit/fnovember.png

My plan for December is getting a little bit more rolled for my next NL25 shot on stars then switch to a site with a decent rakeback (since i'm putting in a decent amount of hands) for NL25. I'll probably switch to FTP but I'm not sure. Any other decent site offer a good RB and software?

GL at the tables

Thanksgiving Results by k2o4, November 30

Well at one point I thought I was gonna have insanely awesome Thanksgiving results, but turned out to be break even over the last 5 days. Damn. At least I played a lot of hands and got a lot of FPPs. I've actually made like 22,000 vpp this month which is the most I've ever made. Got one more $650 bonus and from now on gonna save till 100k FPP and buy the $1,500 bonuses.

Shall continue grinding NL100 till I can take another shot. I feel good about NL200 and it may take a few more tries to break in but I'm sure it will happen eventually =)

Hi all, this month was ok. Didnt play too many hands due to exams.
And im only playing little number of tables most of the time.

Luckily i passed all my subjects! miracle and a half!

meh november by Fayth, November 30

Well not much to say, was up quite a bit at the beginning, had a 55k downswing midway, only to regrind part of it up....

I deposited 8k on betfair a few days ago and got it up to 20k playing NL500 6max..

Might sound a bit arrogant or whatever but I find it disapointing that I'm only up ~68k as I was aiming for 100k+

Oh well I'll try harder in December, still haven't got back from the massive downswing of mid october..

wish me luck!

broke even this month, meh by whamm!, November 30

im up i think 2bi this month and about 5600 in a tourney i lucksacked 2nd week, i thought this was gonna be a breakthrough month for me but it seemed that chasing that goddam milestone which btw i wasnt able to do so this month really hurt my winrate playing those "extra" retarded sessions. i had a lot of 3 or 4bi days which i normally would just stop for the sesh and grind the next day feeling really well but no i have to "keep pace" asdlfkshf;asdfdf. i really dont think im cut out to be a a monster grinder who's able to pull off 300k hand months and still be up a lot because ive noticed i get hammered every single time i play a really long session, regardless if im playing my A game the whole time. coolers and suckouts just seem natural to come in droves every session so now that im like 25kvpp behind before getting that 3k milestone, i think ill just have to play my normal routine of 1 to 4k hands a day and just win money instead of redistributing my money back to the regs and super fish at the tables. this is the last stretch for teh year and i think i can do SNE by next year if im able to pull off a solid month to fortify my BR in my SNE quest, coz it's really gonna be so sick playing a ton. gtg and play and hit that 24 hour fucking button after each session lol.

SHIP IT november rulz by j0rdii, November 30

so basicly i play only 15k hands online this month with a lot of crazy stuff like KJ hand that i will post in my blog. i finish like 17bi+ @ 100nl
but this is not the SHIP IT moment.

I play in the biggest tournament in Bulgaria this year,
the buy in was 750eu freezout with 10k chips on 1 hour levels
100 people join the tournament ,and i can say i play really good
destroed the tables with raises from ep and a lot of 3 and 4 bets
so i manage to finish to the final tv table and win it.
so ship it 60 000lv=40000$ i win some other small tournaments and with the online cash
this mont is best month in poker for me 45k$+
SHIP it

Super.... by Cooperstown, November 30

Well this week hasn't been so kind, the last couple days in particular. They've started out real well then comes the never ending chain of flip losses vs shortie shoves, flop set under set or flush under flush, my personal favorite retard aggro monkey shoves going runner runner flush vs a flopped set. Blissful, going to take a couple days off, possible move back down to 25nl just to get some confidence back although I still feel I can easily beat this limit. Arggggggggggggggggggggg ok whine over.

Day 2 Review by dejokah, November 30

Yesterday NL2 session started great but ended quite bad after being up 3,5BI I managed to loose not only the 3,5 but 1 more and decided to stop playing 1BI down.

I don't think i played bad but there is something mind fucking me really bad.

Over 3.5k hands i got dealt 24 (AA) I know it's a small sample but either variance is kicking my butt or I'm making horrible mistakes i won 80% of the hands but I'm down 1$ with aces, i play them very aggressive PF and on FLOP, that's when i win most pots, i rarely get to stack somebody PF even tho I'm always RR people, it seems that every time i get it in on the FLOP/TURN I'm behind.

A few hands i played AA:

I win most pots like this
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/579228
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/579229

Examples of me getting it in the flop or turn
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/579230
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/578141
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/578142

What i want to ask you is if i should consider playing lighter at this limits when villain shows strength and also bet smaller on dry flops to get more value from weaker hands, this concerns all big PPs (QQ+)

I'm also having the same problem with TPTK, winning small pots by playing aggressive and loosing big pots so i think the question also applies here.

exhaustion by rockman255, November 30

well, not the best month ever but im learning more and more not to complain when im at least ahead. its been an exhausting month and hopefully december goes moderately well, i'm very tired today from my stupid part time job so im giving myself today off, so i guess this is where i call it a month.

i would like to have played more like ~150k hands and obviously have a winrate something like 3ptBB/100 especially since i play such a donkey limit, nl50.

although i guess all things considered, i started the month with an nl100 shot where i lost close to 10 bi and still built back from that so im proud of myself for not cracking and screwing the whole month from a bad start.

im like 25 buyins off the mark for my next nl100 shot, i'm being (kinda extremely, depending who you are) conservative coz i will be trying to pay living expenses in the new year hopefully solely from fpp bonuses and that way i can work on building a safe & effective nl100 bankroll.

cheers from rocko, gl at the tables guys.

November Summary by Tycho, November 30

Starting BR: 9k (included 800$ won in rakerace October)
Ending BR: 13.3k (included PLO winnings and rakeback)

What went good:

- Played alot of hands
- Read some articles, definately fixed some of my leaks

What went wrong:

- Still not agressive enough postflop in 6max
- Spewed like 5 buyins due to tilt on 6max and lost some more money in stupid calldowns (= easily fixable)
- Too caught up in rakerace November: resulting in playing when tired = losing alot of money
- NL400 shot; got coolered so it's ok though

Pics:

http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/rr126/Tycho4Ever/NovSummary.jpg
http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/rr126/Tycho4Ever/NovSum2.jpg

New goals for December:

- Hit 20k
- No more NL400 shots; focus on beating nl200 6max
- Only play when motivated / not tired
- Watching more 6max vids and trying to implement more postflop agression in my game
- Play at least 35k hands

Good Times by EXCELED, November 30

Last night was my hockey teams rookie party. It was a shit show and I got fucking wasted. Our team baught 20 cases of beer and 2 Texas Mickeys sos needless to say there was more then enough alchol for everyone. It was a pretty solid party and I had a great time. I actually just woke up about 30 mins ago lol. Didnt fall asleep until 10am. When I got home I decided since Im so hurting right now Im not going to play any poker today so Im going to throw up my graphs and review my month right now.

All in all November was a really good month for me. I double my Bankroll and moved up from $.25/$.50 LHE to the $.5/$1 LHE game. Ive played the most hands Ive ever played in a month and tracked them all for the first time. Being able to see my results so clear helped me a lot and I was able to fix up my game a lot too. Heres the Graphs:

$.25/$.50 6 Max LHE

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/Nov2550.jpg

So I ran pretty good and played amazing at the $.25/$.50. Not really a hard game and very easily beatable with a good solid TAG ABC game. So many fish its rediculous.

$.5/$1 6 Max LHE

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/Nov501.jpg

Things are going alright at this limit. Im winning but its a bit more swingy at this level. Not a real good hand sample though. The main thing at this level that Im trying to adjust too is the aggression of players. People play very aggressive so you have to showdown more which is taking a little while for me to get used too.

$.5/$1 Heads Up LHE

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/NovHU501.jpg

I love playing heads up LHE. Theres a lot more too it then people really think. The problem is right now that the rake is too high at these levels for it to be really beatable unless you have a total shit noob for an opponent. I pretty much crushed anyone I played this month when I did play though. Sucks that a lot of people like to hit and run too.

November Overall Winnings

http://i427.photobucket.com/albums/pp360/mbs03/NovOverall.jpg

So overall it was a very good month at the poker tables. I made $540 in 16k hands at the micro limit games which I am very proud of. Im going to keep grinding $.5/$1 and hopefully by the end of december be rolled for $1/$2 LHE.

I have to move out and go to school soon so I think my BR might be taking a big hit because I am going to have to pull a lot of it off until I get all settled in and get a job in London. But I still got a month to grind so hopefully I can make enough money so I can leave a roll for $.25/$.50 and start grinding that again for the first few months at school.

Ive set a few goals for December for both poker and life in general:

- Grind Grind Grind. Try to get 20k hands in Dec.
- Make enough to move up to $1/$2
- Review sessions more
- Get settled into new place
- Work as much as possible until the end of Dec. I need all the $ I can get for school
- Stop smoking Cigarettes. I always smoke when I drink or after I burn a dube. Need to stop smoking them Cigarettes.
- Have a great time at Mt. Tremblant when I go and get in tons of runs
- Start working out seriously again
- Have a hell of a time on New Years

Lots to look forward to in December. Im really excited to get out on my own. I cant wait! No parents = so much less stress imo and x10 more freedom. I hope everyone had a great November and has a great December. If you didnt have such a great November just remember that the wave always crashes. Eventually things are going to turn around for you.

EXCELED

November recap by Joe, November 30

November was a dissapointing month pokerwise. It was very swingy and I had quite a few huge losing days. I somehow forgot to use stop-loss because its been quite a long time since I had been running really bad for longer than few days. Losses could have been smaller had I used stop-loss this month. In the middle of the month is actually started looking better for a few days and I thought it might bee an ok month in the end. Well, that didnt happen and I in the end I am happy to actually end up in positive numbers for the month. Two days ago I already counted with November being a losing month. All in all I made a whopping $392 playing poker!. Given I played about 90-100 hours of poker, my hourly rate is $4/hour. Guess I could have worked in McDonalds instead Oh well, I am not counting rakeback, so I will be getting around another $1,700 for this November poker misery.

I dont have a screenshot from the database this time because I have been playing across multiple sites and also on different computers a bit, but I will post a screenshot from my spreadsheet that shows my day-by-day results.

http://www.pokergamers.cz/joe/poker_nov08.gif

As for my future plans regarding poker:
In a few days I am leaving for Warsav, where a 1,500 eur freezeout takes place - it is called Unibet Open Warsav. I am sponzored for this event by Unibet. It is about time I hit something finally, so I hope its gonna happen there . After that there is EPT Prague in our capital city. I am not sure yet if I will be playing it, more likely not but we will see. But I am most likely gonna be there anyway and play side games and maybe some side events. If anyone is coming to Prague, just let me know and we can meet up if you like.
Also, I hope to do way better in December. After a basically breakeven November and mediocre October I already need a big month again. I am almost definately not gonna hit my goal for the year unless I hit some major score in a tournament or a sicko heater in cash games, but if I manage to have a good December, then I am still going to be quite satisfied with the yearly result.

Edit: I forgot to mention one thing that made my end of this month better: CSKA LONDON (ugh, I mean CHELSEA) - ARSENAL 1:2. V-v-van Persie for the prezident!!! Arsenal ownage oh yea
(Too bad Glock didnt manage to keep his 5th place in the last round at Interlagos to let Felipe Massa and Ferrari win the title, then it would be a very nice month for me as far as sports go.)

Thats it for now,
have fun folks!
