the casino night didnt end the way it supposed to. My friend (S) busted his stake early on and I didnt play that well and lost some. The positive side of the night was that they finally had opened deep stack tables so you can buy in for 200bb instead of the ordinary 100bb. Ofc there was only regulars sitting at those tables so there wasnt that much value but still it was fun.
After a few hours we decided to go home to him and just hang out instead. It ended with a 7h marathon session of HU that didnt end until like 7AM. We started off pretty smooth with 200bb stacks 1/2SEK. After about 30 min when I was down like 50bb so I decided I wanted to gamble. When he limped his SB I pushed with J7 and wanted a call from like AT or w/e. Instead he began to laugh and instacalled with QQ Hehe. First time ever I do something like that and it ends like that. REBUY!
I lost the second rebuy pretty quickly when he hit almost everything so I bought in again and decided not to loose more then 3k this night. Then a pretty sick hand came up. standardraise pre and a flop of 987r. I have 87 and position. There is a lot of trashtalk already before the betting takes place so I think he has some kind of hand. He even says that he dont think I have 2pair on that board and that he is ahead.. hehe nice read sir! He bets, I raise and he calls. Turn is a K. He checks, I bet and he calls. River is a 6. At this time more then 400 is in the pot. The only hand I am really scared of is T9 but its not likely so I go for thin value and push for about a potbet. He instacalls with A9! SHIPIT!
At this point I began to run sick! I hit every board and almost the nuts every time! He almost started to flat like trips because he knew I had the straight He also started to tilt so I felt the HU was going to end pretty soon. An important key hand came up where he 3b me oop and I call with JJ. Flop is 632 with 2 hearts. He bets out, I raise and he calls. Turn is the 8h (I have Jh). He checks and starts his trashtalking. (I have to admit he his pretty good at it and I made some mistakes during the HU because of it.) At this point I dont think he has the flush. If he had a hand like AhKh he should have 3b the flop and I dont think he has something like Th9h since I dont think he would 3b it pre. A hand more likely is AhKx or w/e. While I was thinking he kept talking about how he had the flush and when I questioned his line he like didnt understand what I meant. After I while I bet, he instapushed and I snappcalled and he showed AxKh - almost my read.. Unfortunally he hit the A on the river so back to even stacks again.
Around 5AM another friend (M) who had been on the casino until this point came by to sleep a few hours. We talked him into joining and it only took like 5 hands until I bust S. 5 minutes later he came in and demanded revenge. 5/10 and I will get it all back!! Hehe this could end up in a slaughter. Only 10 hands in or something the first blood came when M busted and went to bed. S and I continued and I raped him until he only had like 200 left. At this point he wanted to flip, he won it and after that he just started to crush me I began to run crap, getting like K4, T2 93,1% of the time and missed all the flops. He started to get really aggressive too and a combination of the time (around 6AM) and my lack of cards I played so passively that you could think I belonged at HU NL10. I didnt manage to play back at him at all and I just surrendered... He took pot after pot until he too became so tired we couldnt play anymore. All my profit from the 1/2 game was gone and the final result was that we shared Ms money Pretty fun and sick night!
Looking into getting a new poker laptop despite my undying love for my macbook pro. Standard poker use etc, which one is best? (based on brand, price, specs) Dont want to spend more than $2k really. These are the 3 best fits I found on newegg...

What a crazy month. Started off with me winning a 2000 BB pot (see earlier blog posts/HOTW), then just spiraling backwards again. Spending more half the month in the red wondering why in god's name FTP has decided to buttfuck me this month isn't a good feeling. Eventually, I decided to stop my 12 tabling style, which was bringing in a lot of hands but I just miss the overall control and sense I have when I play 6 tables.
Most of the losses were from 2/4, but a good amount of wins were from 3/6 and 5/10 wherein I played very few hands but was able to make a good amount, so the shot-taking evened itself out and the rest is just pure 1/2. It's really sick running 6000 god damned dollars below EV, as I'd be near a 5ptbb winner if my true winnings matched my EV winnings. I'm hoping it'd just pick up in March or something though.
As far as 2/4, I took 3 shots and 2 of the 3 ended disastrously. Such is the nature of 400nl, it's really sick, I have a giant roll now but I don't really feel comfortable playing 2/4 full time now. Just sick, sick swings. For now I'm just going to play mostly 1/2 and mix in good 2/4 tables here and there as I transition.
So, all in all I've made about 7.5k to 8k this February, which is pretty nice overall, I don't have that many complaints . That's it for me for the month, GL all.
Feeling completely lost and confused about my entire game right now. Bluffing light, calling down too light, monkey calling when I'm clearly no good, betting sizes, etcetc.
Not even sure where to begin in trying to straighten myself out.
Let me know if you see anything in the graphs/stats below
The two downswings today aren't just variance or suckouts, they're bonafide shitty play by me.
picked up bunch of buys ....dont really care about money at this point just wanna get to 50k vpp
fun hands from last night....... http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/642802
-wish it was the jack and not the 9 .......just hurts more
really I'm just displeased because I have to grind a ton of hands in like 2 days to clear a bonus and withdraw, but I can't tonight because I'm tilted.
Going to take like 15hours at nl100 or 8 hours at nl200 but I don't think I should play nl200 atm cuz I'm ANGERRR111111
I've put two sessions in at The Hundo so far, both going very well, I'm playing very well and cut down on my 3b % and 3b calling % which has drastically improved my winrate
In the graph you can tell I've addressed many issues I was having, and stopped bluffing so much, and only bluff the best spots possible now
im also switching gears a lot now during play, 95% TAG, 5% lag or so. Sometimes no lag, depending on the table(s)
Left stars and moved to ipoker in Feb. Started NL5 with $130 after a sick run bad at NL20. 10-tupled my roll in the first 2 weeks of feb. grinding NL5->NL10->NL20->NL50. I decided to ditch the whole 10bi move up scheme I mentioned in a previous blog and stick to the 20bi rule for each of those limits.
lost 1/3 of my roll a couple weeks ago when a buddy was grinding on my account. Still rolled for NL50 but taking a break from cash games to grind SnG and MTT's for a bit since I'm no longer in a hurry to move up.
also had the goal of hooking up with 5 diff. cougars in my city this month (there are tons of cougar bars here and they go crazy for university students...like vultures over meat!)..didnt quite fulfill that goal...but I guess 3 is fine (brag?)
too lazy to find nudie pics to post so ill just repost old ones from previous blogs. enjoy.
I plan on getting FUCKED UP tonight. This week at school has just been shit. I had a mid term everyday except for today so Im glad the weekend and our schools reading week is here.
February has been a GREAT month for me. Im moving a long very nicely and just made the jump up to NL 10. I should be playing NL25 but Ive had to make a few withdrawls here and there for personal stuff aka weed and beer. I played a shit load of hands this month. I usually play only around 10k hands but I managed to bink out 30k this month which is awesome. Here is the graph for the month:
Around 20k hands I did a review of some hands and noticed I was leaking a bit of money out in OOP pots. I decided to tighten up a bit and play more hands in position and lay down hands that I might really want to call becasue they look nice but are just tough to play OOP. It reaaaally worked out well for me and its helped cut down some of the variance Ive been experiencing. Ive really been playing solid poker ever since and find myself getting into trouble less.
Here are some hands from the month
Winners:
I dont really have a lot of interesting hands that I won. All the big pots seem pretty standard. Here are a few:
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=642594
Biggest hand of the month. Pretty standard one. My AA holds. Dunno what the one guy with 85 was even doing in that pot but thats how these limits play. Full of these guys and I love it
http://www.liquidpoker.net/hand/hand.php?hand=642597
2nd biggest hand of the month. Vs the same guy as the hand above lol. I really ran well against him. Pretty standard hand as well but I like those easy ones lol.
All in all though this month has been a great success and I really like where my game is going. I have all next week off so Im hoping to put in some serious hours.
March Goals
- 40k hands
- $500+ Month
- Make it to NL 25
- Wreck shit noobs
Since I won't have time to play tomorrow and the rest of this evening, my month has ended
Februari goals were:
- Play at least 35k hands
- Keep winning on NL400
- Make more notes on opponents and tune up agression postflop
So I didn't make the hands goal by far, I got sick a few days so couldn't play. Also been pretty busy with other things and Februari is shorter anyway, so no big deal. I think I did experiment a bit with more agression and I kept winning on NL400 so that's good.
Sometimes old people just amaze me with how weird and awkward they can be. Today when I was taking the bus to class, some old lady with a big tote bag got on 2 stops from my apartment, and when she sat down she like dropped a shitload of books and magazines out of it all over the floor. A few of us helped her pick it all up and then she just sat down without saying a word. Then, all of the sudden like 5 minutes later, she starts saying, "That's why I lost my sunglasses yesterday...because I had them on my face but when I took them off I put them in my bag and lost them" like she is trying to have a conversation with everyone and hoping someone will talk back. Then like a minute later after no response she goes on to say, "You know there are only 3 things that are important - time, money, and space - and there's never enough of any of them" and after no one answers again she's like, "Sometimes there's a little money, but it just evaporates." The whole time I'm just sitting there wondering wtf is this person talking about. Still no one answers, and then she finally just shuts the hell up.
I really don't understand what is going through these old people's heads sometimes, but it can be funny to listen to.
