Yeah, I lost 1/3rd of my BR in one single day when I felt my game was at its best actually.
This has openned my eyes really and I am grateful for this downswing, and that it came so early in my poker progress. So what I learn from this and How do I improve my game:
I will play much less
I have the basic theory under my skin. I know how to calculate my remaining odds and when to call with simple draws, basic BR management, and majority of betting concepts as well from LP, pokerstrategy and High Stakes Poker (although I can't use any of the HS poker ones just yet really, no point against calling stations)
What I don't know is specific equity for specific hands against specific ranges. I will stop the useless 9 table grinding, cut to 2-4 tables and I will calculate my expected equity for majority of hands using Equilator.
and in order to do tyring work I have to cut my sessions lenght for now.
I will pay attention to every single one of my hands and I will play very little amount of them.
Stop-loss
I am not setting any for a table. If there is a fish than I am staying at NL2. But I am setting a ceiling of 3current BI's for a session and 5BI's for a day. If I reach it I simply stop playing. Period.
I Ignore Winnings
If the stop-loss is not in play, I will not pay attention to my Winnings graph. I may look at the end of a day, but I will try not to open it or cashier mid-day as I have been doing repeatedly and too often. Winnings are irrelevant at my level, hands are.
Thats it, I hope I can stick to my rules. And I would love to ask all of you to Comment Throughouthly on all my posted hands. As of now I am only posting hands with my wrong reads or decisions in them, none of that rofl lucky shit.
Cashing out is so fucking awesome, I love it, keep a comfort level and just gimme that money on top!
So I got 3 checks from stars in the last 3 days for 4600+, i decided to cash out another $235 before I go to Vegas (its going to take 5 business days for the $4000 check to process anyways, so this shouldn't send anything back or behind, and its gonna be like $275-$350 for me to drive to Vegas)
I'm driving from PA to Las Vegas, and looking to stop at all the good casinos (for poker) across the USA, on the way, its a 3 day straight trip to Vegas, but I don't care if it takes me a month to get there, if I'm having fun in certain cities or winning big in certain casino's, i'll most likely stay at those places for a few days to a week each. I think im taking 80W or 70W or smthing, i'm not sure, still gotta mapquest it.
If you know of any good casinos (or know any websites that have info on ppl who have done this) or wanna meet up during my trip across the USA n get drunk one night or go to a casino n pwn some 1/2, then send me a PM or comment here
(I'm going for the first time, going alone but w/e, maybe its best this way since I want to stay and live there more than anywhere else in the USA) - what can I say, I'm a city boy
hrm, life has been great, I don't feel a need to grind 24/7 anymore, and for the most part, I only grind when I want to, instead of from the second I wake up to the second I go to sleep (most days), my reads and play is much strong because of this, and although I am timing my sessions, a lot of the time I am up when the 90 mins goes off and still feel like playing (although if I'm down, the session is terminated and a stoppage is put in effect to analyze my play)
hrm, Quoc04 seems to be a very cool guy, happy to be staying with him, my first night in Vegas i'll probably get a hotel n go out n have a blast, then go to Quoc's the next day and get comfortable and keep my stuff safe for two weeks (if I have 6k+ after 2 weeks of arrival, I'm going to stay 1 more month, if I pull atleast 2.5k profit from live in that month I'm going to stay for sure (ill be grinding online as well - pretty far from NL200, although I feel like a NL200 player playing NL100 ATM) - maybe this is ego, but I tend to play better than the vast majority of all NL100 players, and read there lines very well for the most part.
I'm gonna play more online sometime soon, had a bad feeling about yesterday, so i bet my roommate $2 i could go til this morning without playing, victory is mine. :-)
I'm almost debt free, gonna grind a lot this weekend and prob some tonight and Friday, then go MTT nutz o n sat / sun (Saturday to warm up mtt mind Sunday to dominate, hopefully I dominate an mtt on Saturday, I usually play more creative day 1 of tournament and more solid day 2 of tournaments - in consecutive days)
Ok, Just got really high, no reason to play in this state of mind, I'll be on later LP
I think it's easy for most of us poker players to forget how bad things are getting. I'm personally having my biggest winning month ever so I definitely don't feel poor or scared about the economy. The poker tables aren't as juicy as they were 8 months ago, but it's still easy to make money. Poker players are not really getting hit by the wave of suffering that is touching most people in the USA and is starting to spread to the rest of the world.
I was shocked today when I was at my part time job, which is with a non-profit organization, to find out about tent city's building up in California filled with lots of middle class professionals that were hit when the economy went crashed. We're officially in the worst recession since the great depression with the highest job loss, and the global economy has shrunk for the first time since world war 2.
Tent cities are springing up in California as thousands of people hit hard by foreclosures and big job losses say they have nowhere else to go.
Many of those seeking shelter had good jobs and stable family lives until the economy spun out of control.
Some 300 people call a tent city in Sacramento home, including Tracy Vaughan, who moved to the city with her husband six months ago.
"We both worked for the same company, we both got laid off on the same day," she said.
"So yeah, it just kind of happened."
Another resident, Erich Platz, says there is no work to be had, making getting by tough.
"Nothing going on in concrete, nothing going on in carpentry, the housing - there's no boom any more so it's busted," he said.
Tent cities are cropping up at an alarming rate. Many shelters have run out of beds to accommodate the growing number of homeless.
Garren Bratchin from the Loaves and Fishes charity says the organization has seen a 20 per cent jump in the number of homeless people using its services.
"It's been entire families, not just the guy that decides to leave his wife and get drunk - whole families; three or four, five people at a time," he said.
New figures show in February another 650,000 Americans lost their jobs, fuelling fears tented communities like this one will become more common.
I encourage all of you to do what you can to help. For the ballers who only have to play a week or two a month to bring in big cash, you can give some of your time. Personally I enjoy my life a lot more when I spend a few days a week working at this job and helping out than when I only poker 24/7. And if you're not the type to give time, give money. It's win/win cause you can deduct it from your taxes and instead of the gov getting your monies an organization which is on the ground helping people can get it.
If you're not a baller you might be getting affected by this recession yourself and be on hard times. But if you're doing ok you should look into things like food and clothing drives in your local area. There's a lot of that going on and if you have extra things laying around there are a LOT of people who need em now.
Non profits and community organizations which have been around for years trying to help the needy and improve local communities are closing their doors because they can't get funding. Granting foundations have tightened up because all their money was tied up in the stock market or Bernie Maddof, so the money they used to get interest on and grant to nonprofits has shrunk in half or worse. Without regular people donating what they can lots of great community organizations and nonprofits will disappear. Everything that isn't government or church run is facing the high probability of shutting down.
I work for a non-profit called PeaceJam that brings Nobel Peace Prize winners together with youth to work on service projects, teaching them the skills they need to get active in their own communities and make a difference, and giving them the inspiration via the Nobels. PeaceJam is mainly funded by grants but now grants are hard to come by, so I am seeing first hand the hard times that nonprofits are facing. But even though nonprofits are facing the possibility of shutting down they're working hard to help all the people getting screwed. There's constant clothing/food drives being run outta our office these days and lots of other service projects taking place. Many people are trying to help but things are just really bad right now.
I have no idea what the solution is to all of this but I do know that a lot of good Americans are getting screwed over right now so anything we can do to help, or are willing to do, is going to be much appreciated. I hope you guys look up local nonprofits / community organizations in your area and either donate time or money, cause either would be very appreciated right now. I'm positive about that.
Here are some sites you can check out to find nonprofits in your area:
http://www.missionfish.org/ - you can donate part of your ebay auction proceeds to a non-profit thanks to these guys
http://www.mtdn.com/Default.aspx - This is Make The Difference Network which is a social networking page for non-profits and donors to connect.
Well, the good part is that I've been getting a lot of hands in, the shitty part is I'm not winning.
I'm up 1.5 BI's since I restarted poker (16k hands), but I'm clearly not beating 10NL.
I originally deposited $500 into my PS account, with the main goal of starting at 25 NL. Since it's been so long since I played, I decided to grind 10 BI's at 10NL before starting 25NL...and after 16k hands, I STILL haven't done it yet.
Well, I'm not going to go back on my plan now, so I guess I'll just keep pushing 10 NL GROAN
I'd really like to hunt down any leaks I have though, because I know there's plenty of them.
1. Doing stupid stuff when I miss.
2. Learn how to play AK oop.
3. ??
So, I want to invest into improving my game. I'm currently using old school PT2, and old school Poker Ace HUD, and thought I may want to upgrade to HEM (3bet stats seem very useful). OR I could get a lesson with a teacher.

to play pokerz for the money do MMA and have plenty of free time and fun in my life....
tbh. University sucks azz the last 4 months
I hardly enjoy it anymore.
It has basically become a 6-8h a day job where u have to pay for ! instead of getting money.
moreover it starts to consume soooo much time that i have hardly any time left to poker or do MMA ....
Cant do too much MMA anyways since my Biceps rupture ...
But still it sucks.
I really consider taking 1 semester off in the future and have 6 month of free time where i can concentrate on MMA and Poker.
Only porblem is that this may lead to having no free time at all in the following semesters ...
Well i study sports science and it was great fun the first 2 years
But now it really starts to suck azz
We have tons of homework , projects and group works running where u have to work ur ass of in whats supposed to be your free time.
+ u have to pay 100€ a month ( I know its quite cheap for university) for not having time to poker or MMA
Only reason i dont throw this shit all aways is that i might regret it at the age of 40 .....
Well 2 years to go and i will have my degree anyways ( u need 4,5 years to finish sport science ( And i allready finished 2,5years succesfully ... but now i grew really tired of it)
i wont be playin any of the events because my roll isnt big enough, i will be just playin some side cash games, but if any of you high stakes ballers. want to gamble a bit and stake me for the event or the second chance i think i could make a good performance.
i have played a few donkaments live here at local casinos and on those i gotta say ive been decent in all of them.
buyins are:
Main Event $3500+200
Second Chance $1020+80
if anyone want to take it drop me a pm or post here and we will discuss about the % and stuff.
I consider myself to be a somewhat knowledgeable fan of movies. I've decided to put movie reviews in my blog from time to time to tell anyone who is interested what I thought about a particular movie and maybe help them decide if they want to go see it or not. My scale will go from 1-10 progressing by half points. So 8.5 and 7.5 for example are possible scores. I will list the movies that I give a 10 so you can see if you relate to me movie-wise or not. 10 List
Goodfellas
Pulp Fiction
Snatch
Reservoir Dogs
Braveheart
The Departed
There Will Be Blood
Lucky Number Slevin
The Dark Knight
Godfather Part II
The Sting
City of God
No Country For Old Men
Now onto my current movie reviews. 2 movies that are new on DVD and one that just hit theaters.
Watchmen http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/4893/watchmen20adgiantpl2.jpg
I went to the Imax to see this yesterday. I wasn't the biggest 300 fan, so the fact that I loved this movie should really tell you something. The movie was over 2 and a half hours long and every minute was put to good use. I really love the cast of this movie. Just about every great supporting actor of our generation was in it, which added to the mystique. I feel that if Brad Pitt or a big name actor was playing Dr. Manhattan or any of the characters it would take away from the mystery and would humanize them. The plot was great, every character was well developed except for the worlds smartest man, I forget his name. My one complaint would be that they should have developed him a bit more. Overall this is the best movie I have seen so far this year. 9

I love Sean Penn, but I really had trouble liking this movie. I don't mind gay people but seeing them kissing and having sex for 2 hours started to become a problem for me. Everything besides the scenes I mentioned above was pretty good. I didn't like all the old interviews thrown into the movie. To me it seemed like it was flashing between a documentary and a big budget Hollywood movie. Josh Brolin would have won best supporting actor for his role had the Dark Knight not been released last year. The final scene was really what legitimized this movie and didn't make it a complete fail in my eyes. The last scene was perfect. I don't really want to give away spoilers so I will leave it at that. 6.5

This movie really asked the question "Can my love of Paul Rudd outweigh my hatred of Sean William Scott." The answer is yes. Paul Rudd is the next generation of comedy. This guy is hilarious. The scene where they order coffee is an instant classic in my book. There is just so many scenes where Paul Rudd has a subtle little line or makes a face that just makes you burst into laughter. It is really amazing how easy comedy is for him. I'm convinced that he was born to be a comedic actor. This movie also brought out something that I always knew I hated but this just confirmed it. Everyone has seen the preview where the black kid says "no I won't take my pants off." So I'm watching the movie with my girlfriend and I'm sure she has seen the preview too. So she knows the line is coming. But when the kid says it she starts laughing hysterically as if she hadn't seen the commercial 100 times. I don't know why this bothers me but it just does. Anyways this is a pretty solid comedy if your looking for some laughs. 7.5
So I moved up from 50nl to 100nl about a week ago with some nice sucess until today..
played for 6 hours 9 tabling and ended up losing 13BI's
like 1/3 of my roll..
I even think I played good aswell actually.. dont even wanna count the set vs higher sets and overpairs vs middlepair sets/random 2pair / draw riversuckouts in 3bet pots..
by far the worse ive ever run straight withoug catching any breaks..
couple of days break time and guess ill get back to 50nl...
I'm a longtime lurker here, and decided to start a blog. Not that I think my blog will bring new insights, but for me its a nice way to keep an eye on my development.
My story in short:
Went busto a few times, deposited $50 a few times. Tightend up a bit, build my BR from $50 to ~$800 in like 17.000 hands. Then after an ugly tilt session I dropped back to $200 in 1000 hands. Pretty bad. I decided to put it all on risk, an played 1/2$ HU, and in 272 hands I got it back to ~$900.
After that I cleaned my PT-database and now I play 6 tables 25/50NLHE, which I know I can beat. While posting this I have played 1k hands, making 6BB/100. Which doesnt say a thing at this point Well, I'll keep posting hands, stats and other things I'd like to share.
another weak day ~5k hands. i didn't have much motivation to play today, my aim was to get to 2.3k today, but ended up a bit short at 2.2k but overall i'm still wanting to improve my game. I've been watching a lot of vids from stox poker and its interesting, but i'm not gaining much from them anymore, other than bluff raises.
still, i hope to get better at poker and here is another graph
the red line is still a bother for me. its flat sometimes, but it never goes up...
as far as I know, the all in EV line should tell you how you're running, but says nothing about your game. according to my graph, I'm 23 buyins under expectation. Now obviously this seems odd, but aren't EV lines supposed to even out over time? If this is true then I'm eventually "due" 23bi? I don't even know if I'm running bad or if its standard to run below your EV line. So please vote.
Just got back from the Motley Crue concert! It was fuckin dope. Those guys really did kill it and they still got it.
The show was at Cops Collesium in Hamilton. Hinder and Theory of a Deadman opened for them... both pretty shitty bands imo but when the Crue got up there they made up for it.
The start of the show they had the curtain all around the stage when all of the sudden there was a silhouette of an angel walking around. Then it dissapeared and this red devil silhouette rises up with a trident, waves it around a little bit then turns to the side. Sure enough the angel is back and is giving the devil a blow job ahahah it was fucking hilarious.
They played all there hits which was great and hardly any of there new stuff which is pretty weak minus maybe 2 or 3 of there songs. They opened up playing Kickstart my heart then right into Wildside. There was a pretty good guitar solo by Mick Mars. He mixed it up and played some crazy Jimmy Hendrix shit then just went nuts on his guitar doing some pretty crazy stuff with it.
Tommy Lee didnt do a drum solo which was pretty disapointing... BUT he did talk to the crowd and it was pretty jokes. That guy is just the fuckin man lol. He comes down from his drums and starts getting the crowd going and BOOM instant titties everywhere! Brods just throwin there shirts on stage hahaha. I wish I had that skill lol. He is an animal man lol.
They closed playing Girls, Girls, Girls and then Dr. Feelgood which are my two favorite songs by them. They came back out for an Encore and played Home Sweet Home. Pretty cool seeing Tommy Lee rock it out on a piano lol.
Really good show.. Id give it about an 8.5/10. They didnt sell out the place which was a bit surprising but still I had a blast and Im glaf I got to see them.
I just finished watching the first episode of WCG Ultimate Gamer (gogo inc pwnin) and it made me wonder if they will ever make a reality poker show. I guess it would probably be really boring as any sort of competition. It would have to be one of those MTV style follow around the biggest idiot you can find type of show. Just get some young guy who's made millions and spends like an idiot and acts like a moron and film that for long enough to put together 8 episodes. And that sounds horrible.
I have a feeling inc is gonna win Ultimate Gamer. And even though the show wasn't amazing I am definitely gonna watch every episode, mostly to cheer inc on. Kinda funny how he's answering questions about the show on the TL.net forum but he can't tell us if he won or not =)
Also watched W tonight and my GF hated it. Like it made her angry cause she thought it was so boring and bad. I personally thought it was ok but there was nothing new in there that I didn't already know. Overall it was disturbing to see the parts in the white house, especially anything that had cheyney in it. What a fucking nutjob creep that guy is.
Poker goes well. Having a good month and a definite heater. Playing more hands as I get more comfy. Eventually I'll downswing and end up wanting to grind through it and everything will even out, haha.
Last couple blog posts I moaned about spewing and lack of mentality. I stuck to my plan and made back those 10 buyins i spewed at NL25 by playing NL10. moved back to NL25 again last week and have been playing to a strict 3 buyin stop loss. (not that I've had to stop myself yet). I'm sitting down at NL50 tables if I can smell a real fish and am up a couple buyins there. I'm running pretty shit this week though at nl25 but still 3bb/100 so can't complain.
Released that deposit bonus as well today, so withdrew the $600 + $150 bonus i made and I should make gold star this month if I carry on at the rate I'm playing.
This month will see the end of my first poker 'year' on pokerstars, so there's some incentive to push for a nice final month.
Think I'm roughly +3.2k cash and +1.2k tournament. I'll obv post at the end of this 'year' with some sexual graphs
I saw Watchmen yesterday. Fucking awesome. I think the success of the film is tantamount to how close to the comic they managed to keep. Visually stunning with a great soundtrack, solid cast and gripping story. Gave it a 10 on my imdb list and they don't come easy Here's a link to my 'must see' films if anyone's interested: http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=39217376
The last couple of days I have felt an eager to grind, a feeling I havnt had in a long time! I have put in a lot of hands and I am very happy with my game. I really feel I have a great edge if I tableselect somewhat, and even if the table is full of regs I know I can beat the game.
The only problem right now is that my result isnt following my play. I have met a ridiculous amount of setups and I loose most of the flips. It feels like I should be up like 10BI, instead I am down a BI or two. However, if I just continue to play like I do the brakethrough will come soon, I can feel it!
