Took mon - thurs off which was awesome. Felt really good to let myself be free of poker and have some days where I didn't feel a pressure to play. Started up again on Friday and felt like I ran really good. Still doing the don't check the BR thing so I dunno how much I won but I'm pretty sure I won a solid amount cause there was some heaterish shit going on. Yesterday I played in the morning and ran horrible so stopped right away. Played again later in the night and had a break evenish session and then started to run bad so I quit. Today kind of the same story - felt pretty break even and then started to run bad so I quit again.
I've totally eliminated the desire to check my BR/winnings after every session. That's a very good feeling, cause after winning or losing I'm feeling pretty close to the same. And the results at the poker table have stopped having such a huge affect on the rest of my life. I used to be on a huge high when I'd had a winning session but if I'd had a shitty session I'd be moody. There's still some swing in emotion but it's very very small now and I'm pretty close to level after every session. I think my GF is pretty happy about that =)
I've also started playing much longer sessions while winning and shorter ones while losing. The fact that I'm not paying attention to how much I won/lost per session has made it easier to grind longer when I feel like I'm running good and playing good. I used to get a strong desire to quit after winning 2-3 buyins cause I wanted to be able to look at that green profit in HEM after the session. That feeling still comes up but I've been able to beat it down and keep grinding and make even more profit. Pretty sweet.
So overall I have no idea where my BR is - probably somewhere between 6k and 10k, lol. But I'm playing pretty well and enjoying poker a lot more than I have in a long time.
I'm also very hooked on farcry2. such a fun game. I just made it to act 2 and + Show Spoiler +
all my buddies died at mikes bar, or so it seems. WTF!

Question for anyone who's played farcry 2:
1) What's the diamond + # in the upper left hand corner of the map mean? Is that how many diamond cases are left in that area of the map?
2) I lost my ability to do missions at the arms trader and unlock weapons. I was still able to do missions at the cell towers and mikes bar. I dunno if I fucked something up or if I just had done all the missions that they were willing to give me at that point. It's weird cause I went in and they said I could unlock some shit if I did a mission and I didn't accept the mission, and after that I never got offered another one. Bugged me cause I was trying to unlock as many weapons as possible but wasn't in the mood to blow up a truck at the time.
3) Is there a big difference in the campaign if you choose different characters? Like right now I'm marty but if I go and pick someone else and start a new campaign, will they just redo all the same stuff with the new character or will the story change?

Ohh, and I was annoyed when I was at the hotell earlier so I've played like 1.4k hands at NL1k. I fucking own that shit.

i realized that its only been 1.5 months since i last went bust. I feel like its been AGES since i last went bust... but i guess not. Wow... only 1.5 months... reminiscing about the old me, talking to mikeymoo about how he pounded on me cuz i was a fish at nl10.. dang it feels like years ago but it was only a few months ago at best.
i remembered that over winter break i was trying to break through grinding, but ended up not getting anywhere, but I finally feel like I am going to break through. Looking back on everything though, I definitely feel that all those tilt times and everything definitely improved my game play. Not in a direct sense ofcourse, but I have a good mastery of tilt control (esp. with mikey telling me about limit restrictions) and self mind control. All those times that I tilted and lost all my money was just preparation for the new rollercoasters to come. I always knew that I could beat this game, but I didn't know that it was about beating myself.
Of course I'm still nowhere near the top. I'm actually still at base camp and theres still everest in front of me to climb. But looking back at the road that it took to get here to base camp, it's definitely been a long and rocky road. I encourage everyone who is struggling to look at my old blog posts of like "shit, tilt" and "shit, tilt again" and "fuck, tilt" to laugh with me.
I'm really glad that I have this blog, as looking back on it, i started my poker journey around 5 months ago, getting that first 50+50 from FTP. Ofcourse, all i did was read the poker articles from LP and somehow went from that 50 -> 400 from playing $10 SnGs.
of course i busted that, and all i have left from that is 20 cents on FTP. I busted many a times actually, but god... I realized from early that i had no respect for grinding. In fact, i started those SnGs whne my BR was 40 and i was playing $11 SnGs.
I would bust then, and again and again... I deposited 200 on stars and tried to grind nl10, and I was actually pretty successful from the beginning, but couldn't move up to nl25, no matter how hard i tried. I eventually got frustrated and just tilted and played limits too high for me. I busted then, and I busted every single time by tilting and playing some incredible limits (5/10 razz anyone?) and eventually getting my ass raped.
But on the last time, I deposited 500 on stars with the reload bonus ( i already busted my 200 deposit earlier...) with that being my final determined push to win at poker. I set the limit restrictions and studied poker to no end. I watched stox poker videos, and any poker videos that my friend would give me. I listened, read everything on LP (but not 2p2) but the most important was the limit restrictions on what to play. I grinded nl25 with the mindset of play calm, it is ok to be at 0. I was worried that if i lost this 500, i would be in financial trouble (not really, but it would be annoying.) But I played with a good mindset, and the rest is history... well, not really. just look at my old blog posts.
anyways, i wanted to cement today as my first +700 day ever. This marks the first time i made more in 1 day than i lost in 1 day. Of course I was on a ridiculous heater, but as i look forward, i don't see "tilt, fuck my BR". But a steep harsh, but controlled ascent up the mountain.
I've hardly played any so far this month. Every day I try to get myself to play atleast a few hundred to a thousand hands. Or so it was in previous months.
I did take a bit over a week off to get married and do all of that. But man poker wise march has been tough. I'm staying true to BR and am quitting when i become tilted, but because of that I just can't get any hands in hahah
just dropped 2 buy ins tonight in 150 hands. and I'm done for the night. This blog is just a way to vent some frustration I suppose. Thanks for reading.

I had to drink the difference between my cards and 21 when I lost or pushed, times the number of people I lost to in a 5 handed game, and it went pretty fast. I also drank 3/2 when I dealt a blackjack. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

For some reason I got this really crazy idea that I could bully a bunch of calling stations. I decided I was going to iso-raise pretty much any hand OTB, raise any donk bets, even if they signaled strength, shove over any check-raises, and trap myself with every rag top pair I hit putting my opponents on worse pairs. I even made a few terrible calls just to prove how unlucky I am, knowing that when villain limp calls a KQ25K board then shoves the river that my AA are no good anymore. I kept convincing myself that these fish just got done watching an episode of HSP and are trying all the tricks. WRONG. These people simply arent sophisticated enough to pull that shit off. A little EV variance tucked away in there but this is all my own fault.
BACK TO FUCKING NL2 BABY....
So I put in one last session for the day, and I noticed something. Aside from not being tilted, I ran up my stats to my standard 25/15/3 line. From what I've read this is considered weak-tight. Can anyone explain what you think of a villain with stats like mine? I feel like I'm pretty much just playing ABC poker. When looking back across the majority of my session histories this is a winning style for me. Basically I play strong when I love my hand, and I'm willing to see some cheap flops when I dont. If I connect well I attack.
Anyway, I hope I fucking learned something from this today. I think I'm probably just suffering from a little bit too much Fancy Play Syndrome. It really isnt fucking necessary at these limits. Damn. Wonder if I'll ever learn this game...

today was again another great day for me in poker. +9 BIs. i cashed out 1k since i bought a new car, and i'm going to try to reroll myself for nl100. I'm being pretty nitty in terms of moving up because i'm running well at nl50 and i dont want to ruin the stuff while its good.
anyways, here is a graph for this week so far. I'm going to play another 1-5k more hands and call it a month.
my redline has been steady, and even positive recently, and i've been running good. Not only that, i feel comfortable with my plays, and it just feels normal when i play now. =) So after this week, i should be playing nl100. Wish me Luck!
