Yea might be a good month by DustySwedeDude, April 11

Ran absolutly terrible today getting my high pairs cracked left and right but still managed to only lose 2 bi due to a couple of big hands where people payed me of pretty big. I think I missplayed a couple of hands as useall but that's to be expected and even if I probably was a few bi under expectation this session I've been running a couple of bi over expectation earlier this month so that's fine. Overall I'm up 14-15k or something, and this includes -4-5k on omaha and -2.5k playing 2/4 (lol). Up like 20bi on NL1k and a couple of bi on NL600.

Thinking of making a FTP account to diversify a bit. Even if the action is good on prima it'd be nice to have some alternatives. Need a good name. I've got one really great I use in Dota but I'm not 100% sure if I'll use it. Suggestions are welcome. Also, recently I've had some need of making transfers and my prima skin doesn't support that so I've been fucking around live and with banks to fix it which sucks.

Another nice thing I've noticed while playing a lot of "high stakes", or at least 5/10€, again is that I really feel that most of the regs have really big leaks. Some of them just doesn't seem to understand poker at all. Never really understood the term TAGfish before but I'm starting to get the idea. Obviously it's resonably to assume that I've got a shitload of leaks too, and every session I play I feel that I play a number of hands suboptimally (is that a word?) but even if that's the case my overall gameplan and ability to adjust to different tables are overall pretty sound I think. However, I'm still really bad in some spot (hello single raised pots without the initiative) and I don't really feel the I adjust my 3betting ranges enough depending on position and opponent. But it's good to know that I know a few things I can improve. Overall I'm pretty happy with my game right now. Don't think I've ever been handreading better or played better post flop then the last two weeks or so. Think some drunken comment by Pinball when we were in Sthlm made me think about some things and figure out a thing or two about my game or way of thinking that was flawed. So thanks for that one.

I'll also buy a subscribtion to bluefirepoker soon. Not really 100% happy with CR and somehow my payment didn't work and I don't really know if I'll fix it or just change. Leggo and DC recently seems to offer a lot more for a poker player in my position too.

Wtf is this shit by NewbSaibot, April 11

http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/7919/93530504.jpg

How? How is this fucking possible? HOWWWW??!!??! How can you play any two cards every single hand and actually win?!?!?!?!?! I saw him limping AA and KK a couple of times, so obviously this faggot has a "system". Never raise preflop, but he wouldnt trap post flop. He would always start minraising and checkminraising if he had a hand.

I just dont see how variance can be in this guy's favor for this long. 100 fucking hands at near 100% vpip and holding +300bb's are you fucking kidding me? This just seems to defy all mathematical odds.

So wtf, how do you play against some piece of shit like this?

edit: DOH this is NL25, should have mentioned that

Obv by k2o4, April 11

Of course I'm waiting for a call from my GF to see if I should head out to meet her yet, and I decide I'll play a few more hands while waiting. I actually had sat out on all tables and was thinking of ending the session, but no, I'm playing well and deep on a 2 tables with deep fish, so might as well play a few more hands till the call comes. And then I get setup for a nice 150bb pot with AK vs QQ on an AQ7 flop.

And right as the chips get pushed into his stack the phone starts ringing... obviously. It's like the universe just wants to fuck with us sometimes. I bet you have all had similar experiences where if the phone call had come 1 minute earlier you would have sat out and missed that one painful hand. Or if you'd just quit instead of staying till the big blind, or if you hadn't come back to play after taking that break... Sometimes it feels like the poker gods or lee know that we're getting ready to quit so they hit us with a painful cooler or beat to tilt us into chasing a loss. Or maybe to just tilt us so we can't enjoy the fun thing we were quitting the game to go do and punish us for leaving the tables.

I know none of that is true, but god, does it ever feel that way sometimes!

Liquidpoker dream by Gawuss, April 11

Last week I had this dream which I wrote down after waking up. I'm trying to improve my skill of remembering dreams in order to learn to control them easier (I'm talking about lucid dreaming)

I was sitting in front of my computer and I wanted to open LiquidPoker webpage but some gangsters were standing behind me and I knew that they weren't members of LP so I couldn't reveal its address. They made several attempts to get it from me but I didn't let them to, I covered LiquidPoker's logo and WWW address with my entire body so they couldn't see it. Then it turned out that LiquidPoker is hidden in the middle of a book and all pages where it was 'written', were yellow. I've not idea why and how, but after a while LP got its secret hiding place in some building - it looked like this secret organisation's place from Harry Potter. New people wanted to sign up - from what I recall there was some little guy - a noob, and two of my friends - Konrad and Mati. They had a task to do in order to become LP members. LP's boss was an old guy - the master, who had given me a car key fob when I was still a noob. I gave it to the little guy who had to push it so, that it drives around him. The boss noticed it was my car. I felt and pretty much knew that I was some kind of a special student of his. Konrad and Mati and the noob tried to do some tasks. Some cards were laying at the table - the old guy asked about birthdate of 2 of them and put 2 and I think 4 on the table. There was also a Jack, 7, 6 and I guess something else - I believe there were more than 5 cards. Everyone was throwing a little plastic car (not mine), which looked like those from Kinder Surprise, on the table, and if it hit his birthdate he could become the member. When no one managed they came up with new rules like for example when the plastic car fell between 6 and 4 they substracted it (6-4=2) but once again nobody hit it.

Kinda weird and boring but w/e

Rofl funny story about my cousin and an essay by makito, April 11

ok long story short, my cousin started taking community college classes , after he graduated with a bachelors like 3 years ago. I guess you need some back up info on him, when he was younger he played soccer professionally in colombia in a team called Millonarios, and played colombia national team under 17. He moved to the US to continue his studies and for security reasons. He stopped exercising and went from being 100 pounds in 1999 to 310 pounds today.

He had to write a paper for a psychology class he had about something that was keeping him from progression in his life and he was too lazy to write it and asked my sister to write it for him.

Here it is, I found it funny because he kinda got mad but then he laughed about it. Also i found myself identified with it, so i dont know I will share it with you guys

Running Head: I WILL START TOMORROW

I will start tomorrow: An Analysis of My Procrastination Habit
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Abstract
Procrastination is a type of behavior which is characterized by delaying actions or tasks to a later time. In this paper I attempt to analyze my procrastination habit following a Cognitive Behavioral approach.

My alarm clock goes off and according to my daily planner I have to exercise and study for my Psychology test. It is now five thirty in the afternoon and I have spent the whole day watching a marathon of a show I do not even like. Exercise and study will have to be re scheduled for tomorrow.

My best friend was telling me the other day how now she gets up thirty minutes earlier to exercise. I told her that I had created this amazing work out routine based on my previous training as a soccer player. The exercise plan is basically getting up and biking five miles to the local pool, swimming for an hour, coming back home biking, and then in the afternoon biking again to the beach and doing interval training in the sand for an hour….and of course biking back home. She told me I was setting myself up for failure, but I assure her I was going to stick to it. This is of course, probably the hundredth time she has listened to my exercise plans that never get to be practiced. For the last two years I have created all kinds of approaches and goal setting strategies to exercise, I have said I am going to learn several languages, and have developed several ways to take my company to the next level. Sadly most of these ideas only stay in my head and never get to be executed.

Procrastination (2008) in Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia is defined as a type of behavior which is characterized by deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. I am now back to school to pursue graduate studies in Physical Therapy and I know that I cannot afford to pursue this endeavor the same way I approached things in my college years. If I had the opportunity to seek professional help for my procrastination habit I would look for a therapist who follows a cognitive approach since I think becoming aware of the reason of my habit and being able to change my mentality is something I can achieve with this type therapy.

In the article Time Management and organization, Dombeck (1995) said that procrastination can best be understood by identifying the emotions associated with or underlying the behavior. Procrastination is an attempt to cope with emotional reactions of fear or failure, anger, dislike of the work, and seeking pleasure. King (1998) took this statement further saying that if the therapy begins with the notion that procrastination is not the basic “problem” but rather an attempted “cure” for these feelings and emotions then it is obvious that most procrastinators will have to focus on the real problems, underlying fears, attitudes and irrational ideas, in order to overcome the procrastinating behavior. After accepting this idea, the next step is to figure out what type of procrastination style the patient displays. From this point, each procrastinator must deal with his/her own unique emotions, skills, thoughts, and unconscious motives.

Dombeck (1995) described two fundamental kinds of procrastinators: one tense and the other relaxed. The tense type often feels both an intense pressure to succeed and a fear of failure. This type of procrastinator fees overwhelmed by pressures, is unrealistic about time, is uncertain about goals, is dissatisfied with accomplishments, is indecisive, blames others or circumstances for failures, lacks confidence and is sometimes perfectionist. Thus, the underlying fears are of failing, lacking ability, being imperfect, and falling short of overly demanding goals. This type thinks his/ her worth is determined by what he/she does. Thus, this kind of procrastinator will get over-stressed and over-worked until he/she escapes the pressure temporarily by trying to relax but any enjoyment gives rise to guilt and more apprehension.
On the other hand, the relaxed, pleasure seeking procrastinator seems, at first, to be less complicated, but careful observation of their thoughts and emotions suggests differently. This type is said to be much more common among college students than the tense-afraid type. These procrastinators may be addicted to people or preoccupied with meeting their more basic emotional needs such as attention and approval by peers, love, or self-esteem. For some students these other needs make studying almost impossible. In addition to emotional needs, the relaxed procrastinator’s thoughts may push him/her away from his work or studies. To such a person the gain is not worth the pain, especially since the necessary work is seen by them as so distasteful or boring that they just cannot do it (Dombeck, 1995).

Cognitive behavioral therapy can help a person who struggles with procrastination understand the causes of the problem, and learn skills to break through the habit. This includes developing skills to set concrete, specific, and realistic goals, to break tasks down into small manageable pieces, to make dates with others to do things together, and to establish incentives to carry out agreed-upon tasks. Overcoming procrastination has to be a gradual process and the treatment differs depending on the procrastination style of the patient (Knaus, 2002)
For the tense procrastinator, Fiore (2006), recommended a program that aims to reduce the fear of failing by helping the patent recognize his/her worth is not totally determined by an assignment at work or by a term paper grade, having alternate plans B and C for succeeding, in case plan A does not work, and using self-talk and self forgiveness techniques. Cognitive therapists suggest this type of procrastinator to keep a journal in which they record in detail their thoughts and feelings associated with studying. This helps them see how their fears, excuses, competing needs, and habits divert attention from studying. Based on this insight they can change procrastinating ways of thinking to productive ways.

Dombeck (1995) declared that the relaxed procrastinator will not feel much pressure to change, unless he/she is confronted with reality by some event such as failing a class or by serious thoughts about where his/her life is headed. This type of procrastinator shows a deep dislike for the chores they are avoiding. He suggested that these procrastinators create these feelings by telling themselves the tasks are awful, unfair, or by putting themselves down by setting impossible goals. Then they procrastinate to avoid their own self-created emotional dislike of the job at hand. Cognitive Therapy helps relaxed procrastinators to see clearly how pleasure seeking may, in the long run, lead to unhappiness and show them that procrastination occurs because they are able to trick themselves into believing it is okay to have fun now and put off our work.

Relaxed procrastinators according to Knaus (2002) need to identify and control three kinds of common diversions they use to avoid the tasks that need to be done. The first diversion is called action cop-outs. This is basically doing something that is not a priority. Examples of this diversion include watching TV, eating, playing, sleeping, or even cleaning. Once the procrastinator is engrossed in the diversion, they block out the anxiety, self-doubts, anger, or boredom associated with the work they are putting off but should be doing. The second type of diversion is called mental excuses, which include thoughts such as “I will do it tomorrow” or “I do my best work late at night, I will do it then”. The third type of diversions is emotional diversions. Taking drugs, listening to music, reading novels, and even getting involved in friendships, love, flirtations, or religion could, at times, serve as an escape from unpleasant but important tasks. When felt tempted to procrastinate the patient should use this temptation as a signal to become an objective self-observer, and use a procrastination log to gather information. The procrastination log is a valuable tool to help identify the perceiving, thinking, emotion, diversions, and action paths the patient follows as he /she procrastinate. This awareness exercise provides information to identify the “where,” “what,” and “how” of procrastination.

After identifying the causes of the procrastination the patient should follow a method to set realistic, attainable goals. Fiore (2006) suggests a unique scheduling system that includes fixed hours (classes, meetings, meals, etc.) and play time. Rewards are given if the patient starts a project and can concentrate on it for 30 minutes. The idea is to build the habit of frequently getting to work and to build the desire to work and to learn the habit of getting started on a task early. Practice starting studying several times every day for an exam next week is an example of his technique. As with exercising, getting in control of starting and making it a routine are the secrets.
After doing this research for this paper I can identify myself as a relaxed procrastinator. I can recognize that most of the thoughts that have held me back from exercising, studying, and working harder are mental diversions I have created and somehow believed in. I am aware now that my idea that only by exercising the same way I did when I practice soccer is the only way I can lose weight is just a mental excuse I have created to not follow a more realistic exercise routine. I am also aware of the pleasure seeking activities I engage in order to avoid important tasks. I will like to learn more about the techniques to overcome this habit and will be definitely using the other methods mentioned in this paper.

New Stuff by dejokah, April 11

So I finally got the money from PS even tho the check didn't clear and my account is on the red (last post) I bought some stuff, LG 22 monitor (L22WTG) and also a MSI Wind Netbook.

Really this netbook fucking RLX, it's really portable and the screen is awesome, to watch movies and play on the road it's perfect, processor-wise you can easily 12 table, watch movies, use browser, play poker while listening to music + HUD (PT) and not a single slowdown, I was expecting much less for the price, 160GB HD is also great, I'm fucking happy with this purchase great value for the monyz.

The Monitor is fucking cool too, I got this one because it was recommended for gaming so I hook it up to the Xbox 360 and play HD via VGA Cable, seriously it's awesome playing SF4, COD and L4D on HD.

Here's a pick of my new setup.

feeling out 100nl again by whamm!, April 11

well after beating 50nl and finally getting so sick and tired of it, and being so overrolled for it im starting to fps all the time and spew, i tried 100nl and really didnt run bad at all at the start ( stnd) , but now starting to like 100nl again and doing a little better, just bought a new 26 inch monitor and i'm quite happy about the bigger display, and noticing a lot of things about players more than before. so far this month is pretty decent, but im quite excited about finally staying at 100nl and soon after 100k hands move up to 200nl finally. so far ive only done 10k hands but im def staying here. less fish but at least i get bigger fpps and money is bigger, br is now close to 12k and moving up to 200nl at 100bi, then going to vegas when i hit that boomswitch again. graph so far this month at 50 and 100nl.

FTP concedes rakeback by ToTehEastSide, April 11

http://www.liquidpoker.net/user_pictures/581eebd2aee398f5df19afd0b4669c47.jpg

My story.
I created an account there long ago when I was a total fish and didn't have the slightest clue what rakeback even was. Once I found out such a thing existed I of course tried to get such a thing through support, but to no avail.
I then created a new account and used only it. Once I contacted FTP support about something trivial my account got immediately locked and I was forced to use my old account. Not even the points I had earned got transferred over. To them I was the one in the wrong. I then quit playing there except in very small amounts when I needed a break from every other site, something new.
Now I am no longer a fish.
About two months ago I asked their support for a deposit increase as well as rakeback. I mentioned that even in the history they have of me from long ago I'm sure they can see that this would be in their best interests as I am a rake generating machine and I would not be playing on their site without it. I mentioned to them what I play and how I play on other sites and showed data to support it.
My deposit limit increase was immediately granted, my rakeback however was denied.
My response was no deposit and have not played a single hand since. 2 months later I get this email. ^^ win

I write this blog for all of you out there that don't have rakeback from them and want it. Their greedy support can be overcome.
Anyone is more than welcome to use this blog entry as a link in their email.
peace

It's been a while by lazymej, April 11

Since I've had such a good session. I run like dogshit and swing like Tarzan always and got kicked in the balls at 100nl today on iPoker, so I decided to have a nice relax-session at 50nl on stars. And oh how nice it was. I ran well and played well. Usually one or the other is missing (mostly the run well). It's been so long since I've had a session with a graph so beautiful, it makes me happy If for only a short while..
