Now that I got a Cashgame stake on iPoker I'm really happy
But today is Sunday .. and I got a free Monday tomorrow And it would be a waste if I didnt played at least a few Micro Tournaments NO?
Here is what I would like to play:
- Daily 30 (11$)
- 3$+R [50k gtd]
- 22$ HU [3k gtd.]
- 22$+1R+1A [20k gtd.]
(( - Daily 80 (55$)[200k gtd.] ))
- Sunday 1/4 M. (11$)
- 11$+R [70k gtd.]
Yea
I mean I am not looking for a big stake for everything..
Just single MTTs It would make me happy to just play a few out of these ;D
A big chunk of this will account on the setup differences, as you can see in much lower profits from 3 of a kind and flushes.
Some money can be leaking from High card, although I expect it to be because of missed draws mostly.
So what we will be our main focus will be the ever killing one pair hands when called PFR.

The General Pattern: I overplay Small PP!
I was laughing at regs who call $4.30 3Bets with 77 and I do practically the same!
I am way too aggressive since I am without initiative most of the time and I try to make hero plays when I can pickup only few reads since I am often OOP and not the Preflop Aggressor.
I must play small PP WAY more passively when I call PFR!

General Pattern: I was playing large pairs too passively, especially QQ.
With the Jacks and Tens... I seemed to run into AA KK like always so the pot control approach was good result wise, but I still think that keeping these hands in 3bet ranges is better for me.

Very obvious pattern: Calling PF Sucks, and especially I suck at playing like that as I almost never know where I am at, and its problematic calling bet bet shove with KQ or AJ kind of a hand.
The Obvious solution: Go back to the style I have been applying successfully for many hands before: 3Bet.
These spots are so ugly and its so hard to guess exact ranges at micros that 3Betting a ton and forcing villains to adjust or just surrender their PF raise amount is a way to go.
Pissing off the regs and forcing them to adjust to my 3bbet and playing with fishes, therefore be ahead most of the time with these hands was proven to work for me, winrate and table image wise and it is time to go back and start calling with broadway hands when I get to higher limits and can guess range even when being passive PF.
What To improve:
-Play WAY more passively with low pocket pairs when I miss
-Call less PF, 3bet more with Broadway hands.
-Play aggressive poker again, especially with QQ, JJ.
-More Bet/Fold lines, way less C/Call lines
End Note: I am a creative person, a Monkey at heart. I have the edge over 95% of my limits, but only when I do what I know best- Apply huge amount of pressure, annoy people and force them to make mistakes.
This downswing has pushed me more towards peacefull Hippie poker, which I have never been applying before and....I suck at it. Its time to start utilising my competitive advantage, to focus at what I know best and to wake up my manliness and leave Calling PF without passive set mining to others.
I am not working for a few weeks, and these few weeks I am going to be dedicating myself to improving my game.
Backstory:
Before moving house at end of March, I had been playing alot of Poker, and had dominated NL10 and was cruising at NL25 aswell. Then once I moved house I could not play any online poker for 6 weeks, due to complete failure of Sky (satellite tv/internet/phone package), I had no internet access. Meanwhile my job was really depressing me, as some of the things I had to do were just morally not right.
I worked as a Kitchen designer for a local kitchen business. They were not doing so well, and I think with recession the cashflow problems were effecting them bad. Normally I would design and sell the kitchen, then other people in the company would take over, order in right things, manufacture it and organise fitting etc. Before it is fitted, 95% of they payment would be required. I had to phone people tell them that their kitchen was going out the following week, and needed them to pay, knowing full well that there kitchen would not be going out, infact it wasn't even ordered, becaquse they money was going to be used to pay for someone elses kitchen that had been delayed heavily. Reality is it probably would be another 3 months at least. And then when the supposed fitting date came, they would be raging, and I was told to tell them all sorts of bullshit lies, continually. Basically they were committing fraud. I had to continually lie to customers, under direction of my bosses, who would never have the balls to face customers. One day the boss fled out the fire escape and I had to lie saying he wasn't there. You couldn't make this shit up. I handed in my resignation letter few weeks ago and applied for loads of jobs.
So I dont think my head has been all there this past while, and when I got my internet access I started to play some poker, and tilted pretty hard. I had been grinding Cash games consistently before, and was disciplined. But now I started playing some MTTs, reaching the money, but not making the FT, (78th/4500 was highest). I thought hey, I can FT this nps. Then I ran into some shitty beats and I started tilting, signing up to MTTs all the time, when my head wasnt fully focused. So as a result my bankroll was cut in half from $700 down to $350 in a matter of days. Even the cash games I was tiliting. I was doing some stupid things, like im on the BB with AK, and UTG shoves $20 and i snap call. he shows AJo and hits his jack and bleh. But reality is at these limits I should not be calling my whole stack with AK in a cash game. End of day pocket 2's is beating me here.
Thankfully I realised I was on tilt, and stopped, and took some time away from Poker before I lost even more.
Present:
I got a new job, but dont start untill June and I finished my other job on Saturday. So now I have alot of free time. Really going to dedicate myself to improve and get myself back to where I was before. This tilt has certainly taught me again that mental state is so so important. I mean I knew it was before, but now I respect it even more. I had not tilted liked this since when I had started year or 2 ago. I thought I was past this, and thought I could control my emotions. As I said, what goes on in your personal/working life certainly effects what happens at the Poker table.
So some goals and rules for these next few weeks;
- Focus on keeping a calm and mental state
- Crush NL10 and get back to NL25
- Remember the basics
- Only allowed to play a maximum of 2 MTTs per week
- Review sessions, discover where I have lost the edge
- Get up early in the morning and no lazy sleeping in!
- Going to do alot of physical workouts aswell, running, skipping, weights etc in the mornings.
So I hope to be back to where I was 8 weeks ago, and pull myself out of this rut.
As Mr.Motivator used to say, P.M.A - Positive Mental Attitude Gotta keep that
haven't played in a bit... fixing my leaksby vlseph, May 17
I lost a lot of money and well over half my bankroll before and I really hated poker so I took a break.
It felt like I had to play rather than I wanted to play. Poker was fun when I first started and had no idea what I was doing, and back a couple months ago it felt like a really bad grind when it really didn't have to be. I find myself starting to like poker now. I'm going to only play when I want to play, not when I feel like I'm forced to get x number of hands in every day/week/month or whatever.
I've been playing WoW for three months as a substitute and finished my first year of college.
Need to try and find a roommate and an apartment for next year though since my family is moving further away from campus.
Back to poker.
I've lowered myself to 4 tables to start focusing on my game and trying to get more reads on other players, so far it has been working great. I used to mass table and just click buttons without thinking but there are still many spots that happen too often that I was unsure about, and I'm going to work on my play a lot more.
I've deposited a roll good enough for NL25 and onto Pokerstars (took all my money off FTP, seeing too many people from 2p2 getting hacked or w/e) and going to try and stop cashing out so much. Cashing out parts or all of my roll from time to time has really hindered my progress as a player. I don't care about the money anymore, I only see it as a tool to advance my game and not for spending.
Here's a list of leaks that I realized my game had and to serve as a mental note to anyone else reading this around my level as for what to look out for and fix...
Barreling too much without
Going against reads
Playing too fit/fold when not the pre-flop raiser
Not fighting against cbets enough
Being distracted by the allures of the marvelous internet
Not thinking enough
Not enjoying it enough
Forcing the action too much
I thank my friend Allen for helping me go through some hands and just talking about poker. He's helped me a lot in my thinking, and he'll probably see and read this blog. Thanks a lot, without you I'd probably have quit. He's helped me table select a lot better and I definitely feel it is another BIG improvement in my game.
Some side notes:
Played live SNG with some friends today. It is very nice to be able to play for a small amount of money and to be able to play poker for fun and not have it feel so serious.
I've signed up for this month's Turbo Takedown since it is only 2000 FPPs, I haven't played in it before so I hope I do well enough just to stay awake for however long I'm going to be in it. Hope I catch a good run of cards and tables there and taking back from it a couple hundred dollars I'd be pretty happy. Good luck to everyone else playing in it, and try to have a good time while playing poker. It'll make it a lot easier.
This is the first the of the of my life...tilt!by MasterofLaw, May 17
So this weekend some friend from my hometown were coming to visit me. However at 19 in the evening one of my bosses told me that I've probably have to work the weekend...dooH!Yesterday things though turned around a bit and I've only had to make some calls and answer some legal questions thereby and it seemed like I didn't have to work. SO we put up a great party in Stockholm and drank pretty heavily...this morning around 9 I recieved a mail in my phone which said something like pls call as fast as you can. DOOOH!
I was really dizzy when I stood up but then took a fast shower, put on the costume and took a cab...and here I am, tired, hungry though pretty sober and now I gonna do some qualified guesses worth some billions...lol at that.
Now I have worked for 2min, gonna go take lunch and then work my ass of this sunny sunday...
In other news, wsop starts in a couple weeks, pretty excited about it, gonna play atleast 4 $1500 events (most likely goin 50/50 with a friend/(s) on them), and also highly likely that I will be in the ME.
hrm, our lease is up july 1st, so im gonna start lookin at new places soon around the vegas area, anyone who knows any nice apartments plz link me
mmmmmmm.........lost like 1400 last weekend
won like 600 this week
+1800 this month so far.....
Doing well in the cashgames, sucking in MTTs
Gotta start putting more hours in and smoke less pot
I've been playing 8 tables lately and have just been doing really shitty. Playing way too much like a robot and not actually thinking about why I'm making a specific play against each opponent. I'm like hey AQ 3-bet time, or end up donk leading flops cause i forget if i raised pf. I guess I just have a hard time multi-tasking. Played 4 tables today and was really able to focus more and think about what my opponent is repping and why I have to fold, or raise a particular spot. Gonna stick to 4 tabling now even though its slower and maybe add a table or two if the session is going well. I had success playing less tables in the past but figured I was good enough and knew how to beat the level well enough to play more tables, but obv not :/.
some notable hands if u nl players are interested in seeing what goes on in the world of min bet poker!! limit is all abt squeezing those extra vbets in.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/690193
77 vs preflop 3bet. the flop is paired, its unlikely he has a piece of it. his likley holdings are aj-ak kq kjs so i craise him for value and to protect my hand. he just calls and my assumption is correct. however some gd players wait for the turn to reraise if they are strong, with a read, u could fold to a turn reraise. i cbet the turn, he just calls and his hand is now face up. river is easiest vbet in the world and he pays me off.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/690195
blind defense hand. i hit mp with a gs and op to donk out and he rearises me. no point reraising here as my hand has sd value and plenty of outs. i make trips on the turn and craise him and he 3bets. i put him on a draw and cap. river is an easy vbet and he pays off with a draw and pair
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/690202
he 3bets me and 1010 is a cap pre flop for me. flop comes k high i bet and he just calls. same thinking as hand1 and river is easiest valuebet
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/690204
i make trips on flop, i slow play and just call, waiting to cr turn. on the turn comes the worse card in the world. no point rerasing here, im Way ahead way behind. i fold out worse hands and lose value and get value towned by better hands so i just call. my line induces him to bluff the river with a high.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/690185
i have lots of history with this guy, and he is very very spewy and donates to me every session. i make trips and a fd on the flop, and he reraises me on turn. since he just called pf, its impossible for him to have AK KK and very unlikely A9 A8. from expereince, he goes nuts with trips no kicker so his likely holding is ace2-6. having the fd makes it an easy cap on the turn vs this player. the river completes my flush and i elect cap it - and get max value from his ace10 which i was quite surpised to see. vs a normal tag i would have just called down the river.
http://www.liquidpoker.net/h/690179
i had notes on this player as being very passive and make this sick fold getting 10bilion to 1 with the second nuts. HAND OF THE WEEK PLZ
Well I got the keys to my new house yesterday, I went to see it's state today, seems all fine, was weird to see it all empty Either way my uncle who's going to do all the renovations will be here in quebec on tuesday, I'm changing a bunch of things, can't wait to see how it'll looks.
I'm moving in on June 18th when all the renos will be done so then Loco and Nabz can come over and chill for a few days and enjoy my new place =)
Poker is going well even though I'm not on pace for May, I wanted to make 150k for may and I'm currently only at 56k, so well, I don't really mind all that much since I'm ahead of pace for my yearly goal...
I went to watch Star Trek yesterday and sat next these three irritating trekki geeks who kept making the stupid Vulcan hand sign thing. Everytime it appeared on screen three hands would pop up as if they were giving Spock the Vulcan high five and they kept GIGGLING at every goddamned old school Star Trek reference and the worst was when they giggled during an emotional moment in a lift after lots of people died. Of course I couldn't help but face palm and that smudged my spectacles and I had to clean them which made me miss part of the emotional moment in the lift.
Then the lights come on and I get a good look at them and they're all short and pudgy and ugly as fuck and they look like siblings but I'm sure this isn't some deviant sexual practice, it's just a bunch of losers who are so sad they have to date their own siblings so they won't have to watch the hottest show around right now alone.
Then this morning I had to wake up at 6am to see my parents off at the airport. There was this long queue at the check in counter but my parents had done an internet check in so they went to the counter right next to it labelled "QUICK BAG DROP". There's this stupid woman in the long queue and her eyes just pop out of her head when she sees my parents using the quick bag drop counter and she's like, "I did an internet check in too! They didn't make it clear!" Woman, the counter says "QUICK BAG DROP" in large letters. What the fuck else could it be for other than quickly dropping off your bags? And then as if to prove her stupidity she continued queueing in the long queue even after my parents were done and the quick bag drop counter was empty.
sustained combustion! so awesome to hit the hands needed preflop and win every flip.
I actually overslept, free rolls start at 6am my time. didn't start playing this tourney till I was blinded down from 1500 to 1300.
i would like to suscribe to leggopoker for 1 month but they only accept paypal
Therefore i'm looking for someone who can send me 33$ on my paypal account.
I can give you Pokerstars or Moneybookers money.
and I send first of course!
HM, wow, first big loss -8bi/1.6k hands :Sby dahornnn, May 16
Ok well as i only really started grinding properly last monday or so, i was running ok thought i was making some good plays or whatever and generally playing well (minus a few hands that people have been kind enough to comment on) and well, to day i went for another session chill out as a break from revising for my exams next week, and i just lost every hand going. The only bit of luck i had was one outing kings and some idiot paying off my quads but aside from that, i lost EVERY possible flip and hit some redic coolers. Lost a rediculous pot where a guy was shoved the turn on a gutshot into my set and hit, that just did it for me ill try find it and upload it later, but what thoughts do you guys have on getting through downswings? just play more?
Also on a side note, would you say 20k hands in a week is a bit excessive?
Heres my graph, my graph of downswing
So its noticable that i seem to have been going 'steady' as such but after that its a real kick in the teeth, after wasting god knows how much on donkaments the other day it looks like im going to have to drop to nl5 for a while ^^.
Also if anyone is willing rail me to find leaks or w.e if i send HH or even give me some coaching i would be greatful (would have to volunterily ofcourse).
Any tips thoughts comments are appreciated, time for a break then ball some nl5
peace
Also RL friend tilts me
He says he is not willing to pay more than 5€ for another friends birthday present ...
Guy is rhich like shit and spends money on all kind of useless shit ...
He has not earned the money himself but he has a very rhich uncle
Guy has a 20.000€ car
a 1.700€ Laptop
a 1.500€ chair in his room >-<
a 1.000€ bike that he never uses
he rarely wears clothing that costs less than 200€ a piece
and now he says he will not spend 14€ on a birthday present we choose for one of our best friends ...
So I have been Chatting with KillthemDonks and after while I got an idea of analysing my graphs, and what not and then deleting my PT3 database to have a 'Fresh Start' ;p
It is about three months since I started playing poker, and I became a NL25 reg by now I believe.
However, I have never really tried hard to review my sessions, but something recently made me to.
I came from +7ptBB/100 to a big loser, hitting incredibly bad runs over past 30K hands. Really ridiculous series of coolers and suckouts. I still think that even with so many leaks I beat NL25 when I run normal, but as always in downswing it is time for a major review, as I will hardly find motivation to do it once the things will go into normal again.
We will be looking at past 15 days since I started 9 tabling NL25 because of the ridiculous VPP promo, and each blog post will cover one area where I think I made some systematic mistakes.
1) I call 3bet when faced with a steal raise when I was at the table for 18 hands.
Than I try to represent a set on a drawy board to a villain that cannot have any idea how we play, and will push probably any overpair.
4Bet PF if I believe he is 3 betting very lightly when defending, or fold pre. Huge bluffs like this without history are stupid.

2) During my deep tilt, I started raising 5BB+X at this table with the 50VP fish. I think if I decide to do this and I know he will call I can, but only with a high card hand and not a drawing one, as I am voluntarily killing my implied odds here.
Once on the flop I am faced with standard raise it and make a note situation (donks bet small on dangerous boards and it can mean either crap, draw or nuts- same thing with each villain usually but by no means an universal thing), but my raise is unnecessarily big - 2.80 would do the trick if he has air, especially against a fishy villain who hardly makes difference in raise sizes.
EDIT: Rockman actually noted that its better to do the raise only with outs /as a semi-bluff, thoughts?
It has to work about 40% of the time if I raise $3 against unknown.

T9s UTG raise, and huge spew against 11/7 villain.
c-bet and shutdown on such board. I actually think I could second barrel against some regs easily, but against this villain it will never work often enough

70VP 50WTSD fish. Although he could easily have the draw here, there are so much better spots to beat him this is a huge spew.

Thoughts? ;o
What to change:
-Don't call 3bets with low sc -Prefer High card value hands against 50VP+ fishes in blinds when I raise 4BB+Xbb -Don't make big bluffs against unknowns -Raise way less small SC UTG, UTG+1 More? -thats where you come in ;o

The Borgata is hosting their $500k guaranteed deepstack tourney again next week, and I'm planning on just going and playing it. I'm going to head home on friday so I can be sure to get registered and still play my last 2 FTOPS events this weekend. Because of the FTOPS ME being sunday I'm gonna go for starting on day 1b at the Borgata on monday.
I'm going to play in the event regardless, but if I can manage to hedge the buy in by selling some action then I might as well try and see what I can get. The buyin is $1650, so 5% would be $82.50 , 10% is 165 , and etc. I guess I'd sell up to 70% if I can somehow get that much. If you're interested then PM me or something and we can work it out. I don't really expect many (if any) people to buy anything, but I figure why not ask anyway? =]
P.S. - Last time they had this event over 900 people played and they crushed the guarantee, and first got $393k or something around there.
and here are my OPRs from since I actually started playing tourneys more often/seriously (from about the start of March I guess): FTP - The Inquisitor Stars - JoeDeertay
